Good post, thanks for this. Regarding Healing Signet, I’ve noticed recently how wildly useful it is against pesky classes who try to tickle and run forever, and to be honest it has been a breath of fresh air. On the flip side, I’m concerned that this is just my relief at not feeling insanely pressured in attrition fights. Perhaps I should feel more pressured, or it shouldn’t be as effective? Or maybe the people I’ve fought have gotten so used to doing so little and spending so much time running that they just aren’t playing up to snuff and I’m deserving more 1on1 encounter wins against classes like Thieves and Mesmers that I didn’t used to get as easily?

And on the other hand, having to sit and wait around outside of a Zerg because I took myself down to half health is very detrimental. I can really see the pros and cons, and I have a hard time justifying the cries of people who have built evasive condition attrition and used to win against a class that used to have minimal sustain. Though I also wonder if I can still dish out too much pressure based on the 1on1 sustain.

Having felt on the back foot for so long, it’s weird considering the possibility that something is too strong. I’ll be curious to see what changes ANet has in store for the Warrior. That being said, all of this post is true.

Well the thing is, warrior concept was originally a class that “became more powerful as the fight went on”. It was supposed to be the class of attrition. Instead, for many months that role was filled by bunker guards, rangers, eles and the dreaded condi bunker mes.

War had such terrible sustain for such a long time that most war players had to adopt the “full zerker all-or-nothing” mindset to try and burst a target down before they died themselves, as that was the only way to have a chance at winning any type of fight. Furthermore, any warrior player who stuck with the class for the 8 or so months it was relatively weak learned every trick about pretty much everything in the game to be able to win fights because, if you didn’t outplay your opponent, you were guaranteed to lose against almost any other class or build.

When healing sig was buffed, we now once again became a class of attrition, and people who have mastered the class through the period of time the class was weak now seem unstoppable. Was the class overcompensated a bit? Perhaps a tiny bit, but not to the degree that everyone who doesn’t play war would have you believe.

The War now is an all-around threat. It doesn’t have the burst that a pure glass engie has, it doesn’t have the pure survivability that a bunker guard has, it doesn’t have the utility that a mesmer or guard or thief or ele or engie has, but what it does bring is an un-ignorable, high-damage yet durable option to the fight.

And I think that’s why we’re seeing so much frustration with people playing against warriors. Wars are doing enough damage to the point where they cannot be ignored in a fight, yet they are durable enough where hard-focusing them over, say, a glass engie or staff ele usually isn’t a sound decision.

And that’s why I think they’re in a pretty perfect place right. They are fulfilling the role they were intended to fill.

There are so many warrior QQ threads nowadays with so many false facts. So I think it’s time to clarify some of those:

- Unsuspecting Foe doesnt work with knockbacks or knockdowns, only with stuns. Hammer only got 1 stun which last up to 2s.
- Adrenal Health ticks every 3 seconds, not every second. So nop, it doesnt heal for huge amounts. Most warriors use their burst as much as they can, so at average they are at 50% adrenaline which results in an average 125 hp / 3s = 41hps. With full adrenaline its 120 hps.
- Warriors strong healing skills compensate for the lack of all the defensive stuff other professions got, e.g. Protection, Aegis, Blinds, Weapon Heals, Stealth, Pets, Clones, Blinks, massive Evades
- Healing Signet and Healing Surge both have pros and cons. Healing Signet is useless against huge spike damage. Thats where Healing Surge shines. Example: In a 40s battle you can use Healing Surge twice for up to 20540 hp. Thats 514 hps vs 407 hps with HS. The reason most warriors just use Healing Signet is that just few enemies run zerker builds. Healing Signet shines against condition and bunker builds. Simple as that.
- Endure Pain lasts 4s not 8s. It doesnt remove conditions and it doesnt negate condition damage.
- Almost all warrior skills have very obvious animations, thus are easy to dodge.
- All warrior mobility skills rely on the actual run speed. They are hard countered by cripple, chill, root and boon stripping (in case of swiftness stripping). They all have a fairly long traveling time.
- Mobile Strikes only removes immobilize at the beginning of the skill. You can still immobilize the warrior during traveling time of the skill.
- Warriors can reduce cripple/ chill/ immobilize duration bei -98% via Dogged March, Melandru Runes and Food. But this is easily negated by +Condition Duration food. So with +40% condition duration food the reduction is back to -58%. If the warrior doesn’t use Melandru its only -33%. So a 3s cripple will last 2s, long enough to counter most of the warriors mobility skills.

- I can pick my fights
- The terrain is always different which you will have to adapt to and use it in your favor
- I can kite/lure people to other places I know
- I run in to friends
- Fights are always dynamic
- In WvW situational awareness is key
- Safely disengaging from a zerg that runs over you puts a smile on my face
- I can run the armor skins I already have

Obviously any attack should kick the thief out of stealth and give him the revealed debuff. It shouldn’t matter whether it gets blocked or evaded. You attack, so you reveal yourself.

The issue: Attacking from stealth does not reveal you unless you do actual damage to the target, no penalty for auto attacking a blocking/evading/invulnerable/blinding enemy.

Every stealth skill stealths you for at least 3 seconds (4 if traited) this is more than enough time to burn through most blocks/evades/invuls etc which usually have significantly longer cooldowns than stealth skills. In most situations this results in guaranteed damage to the target. The most common situation is where a ~permanent stealth thief keeps backstabbing you for potential 6-8k dmg until it goes through.

Suggested balance change: Make any blocked/evaded/blinded/invul etc attack reduce the remaining stealth duration by 0.5-1 second.

I think this change would force players to keep an eye on your target and promote skillful play opposed to mindlessly spamming attacks while in stealth.

try playing an ele, even IF we stack toughness, we are lucky to ever reach the 2.8k mark. And if we do, we do around about 300-500 dmg on crit… Warriors… LOL.

Such a weak remark… The difference in armor rating between heavy and light exotic is 291 total, for ascended it’s 304. So a warrior vs an ele with the same kind of armor prefix (for instance, cavalier) will never have a greater difference in total stat. If the warrior can reach 4k, you can reach 3.7k with the same gear, as a light version, on ele.

Who cares what the Warrior’s healthpool is? The heals should be competetive with other heals in the game, not the health pools of their respective classes.

Healing Surge is an amazing heal when compared to other heal skills and given the way the class works. I have no idea what you were trying to explain. It heals for more than most heals in the game with 0 adrenaline. Heals for 66% more with a full adrenaline bar. Gives you a full adrenaline bar once you use it.

Mending is awful if you have cleansing ire and berserker stance, and not really that great without them. But if you don’t get cleansing ire, you’ll need additional condition tools and this may be the best you could come up with.

Defiant Stance is better than some of the other healing options that came out.

Most people who look at healing signet objectively will admit that it alone isn’t even that overpowered. It’s strong, sure. Stronger than every other heal in the entire game in fact. But given the way the class works, it’s a reasonable heal. There’s only an issue when you factor in Healing Signet and Adrenal Health, but even then I’d argue it’s not that bad considering the class has no protection. No, you don’t start reaching the absurd levels of OP’ness until you start factoring in all the class’ mobility, endure pain, defy pain, berserker stance, etc etc.

And worse than all of this? I haven’t a clue how you fix it. Even slight adjustments to anything would likely cause this class to become a nonfactor again. I’m also not sure just how ‘over the top’ Warriors really are in the grand scheme of things. Does anyone feel they’re on their own level? I personally don’t… I’d say they’re about even with Guardians and Necromancers overall. If Thieves had something more to offer a group I’d put them in this same group too.

I think if you want to say Warriors are overpowered, you’d have to say Guardians, Necromancers, and Thieves are too. And at that point, what metric are we trying to pretend this game is balanced around? Rangers? God help us…

You guys are kind of missing the point I was trying to make. Usually Rangers are the first class I go after when I play something else since most are glass. Obviously this guy wasn’t glass and caught me by surprise. If we dueled I’m sure I would win more than I lost but in a one off I think it would have come down to the wire.

I also had the experience that trapper ranger has problems with survivability, lightning reflexes sure does help there, as well as Rampage as one for the stability. And just because it hasn’t been the meta/flotm doesn’t mean noone was running it. Maybe the exact same reason why it is still good.

It is what Blizzard said about Hunter pets way back in 2004, when hunters were considered the worst class in the game. Then, Blizzard actually listened to their player base and made the pets not suck.

Well hopefully necromancer’s will cut back on the dire/rabid gear and go hybrid so that they have a chance against diamond skin elementalists and other classes with less than optimum condition removal will have a chance against them.

I think diamond skin is stupid, but I got an elementalist in the works to abuse it. Anything that will flip the bird to this kittenty condition meta is ok by me.

Yes – you’ve got it right connie – the " you agreed with me so your feedback is constructive and good while the people that disagreed are all warrior scum that deserve to be nerfed until they quit the game" attitude is much better.

This post just proves your malicious and narrow-minded attitude towards a class you don’t play and just hate.
The whole point of your post was to " balance" warriors.
Your previous post here says eles are in a bad spot and don’t have the things that they need but instead of making a thread in the ele forums or suggestion forums saying " eles need this or that buffed " or " improve this for that class " you come here and ask that this class be broken because you feel other classes aren’t as good.

Warrior – i will admit – is the most polished profession they’ve got right now. It’s the only one that works closely to how it was intended to work. It’s pretty much the only one that IS balanced.
The only logical thing to do now is to look at OTHER classes and polish and adjust them and bring them in line with the " OH SO OP " warrior.

Of course people like you won’t listen – all you’ve got is a " OMG NERF " attitude and almost no arguments except your own personal feelings.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

The norn don’t really have a cohesive society that defines what good and bad people are. e.g.: They follow Raven but there are Raven followers who focus on the darker aspects of raven and may kill children in their rituals. (like the skill point challenge). So while it may be looked down upon, they are still being “norny”. But being norny doesn’t protect any norn from any other norn.

All Sons of Svanir aren’t corrupted and until they choose that corruption, they embody Norn virtues.

edit: I can see a reason for a lack of jails though. All other races are implicitly sworn to fealty of their leaders. So if they break the over all rules of that leader, they have pre-accepted the punishment. Norn have no leader. They hang out at Knut’s village because he chooses to allow other in there but no one swears fealty to him. if there is a problem in Hoelbrack, the offender can be expelled or killed in more extreme cases. But there is no need for a jail.
