Hide ranks

Hiding ranks wont prevent “driver sniping”. We had called this pin sniping, and a few times I did this. It was funny, but the rank was the last thing you’ve looked for when doing this. Against the zerg you only see a bunch of red names. It’s helpful when you have to decide, but not really necessary. You can still identify the commander, the only thing which helps is to have a back-up commander.

The memories of pin-sniping a commander, who always had have raged on the other players, bring me still an evil smile on my face. The rank system was late introduce in the game, it says nothing about the skill the player have.

I’m trying to decide whether you are a troll, or just find tactics too hard after karma training in EoTM for too long.

If you’re not trolling, then I feel sorry that your guild is incapable of breaking in to a t3 anything. It requires a bit more thought than rubbing your spam 1 against the door and balling up and spamming.

T3 isn’t meant to be easy to take if defended. It can take a while to take it- but it’s great fun trying and coming back and trying again, wearing down the defenders, attacking 4 points around the thing at once. You cannot keep repairing against a determined attack if the attackers have any sense and prevent dollys from resupplying (clue: flip camps, have a couple thiefs jump dollies).

I find these sorts of battles much less stale than two guilds running into each other over and over again on a flat field fighting over nothing. That’s fun the first few times but gets stale very fast.

Give me tactics and things that require some smarts to achieve, or even some persistence….

Did Heart of Thorns ruin the game?

No, imho, HOT has not ruined the game.
Sure, there were a few issues, but that is to be expected for any expansion.
If anything, I believe it has made the game stronger, by requiring players to play more challenging and difficult content.
I believe it has made me a better player.

To me it seems to be a pretty weak argument to say, “I hate HOT, so I will close up my computer and never play again… but I love the core game.”
If you love the core game, you would play it.

Gliding is the single best thing about it all, to heck with mounts, we got gliders.
I look forward to the next step, next progression, next evolution of the game.

we had over 3 years with no new content
how many other games have you played for over 3 years?
core Tyria IS solid, if it wasnt, none of us would be here
HoTs performance speaks for itself

Actually HoT has brought quite a few people back to the game many who left because the core game itself was too boring for them. Too face roll easy. There are examples of this in this very thread.

Anet expected more units of hot to sell. But casuals didn’t mostly not buy hot because it was too hard. They didn’t buy hot for a lot of reasons, including price, anger at the core game being given away free, the dungeon nerf, all of which has nothing to do with hot difficulty. Adding two and two doesn’t always get you five.

Indeed double warrior is getting quite common. But it doesn´t feel so bad as double necro last season. But i agree that the sustain buff was good, condi output from some weapons is not aproriate. Burning fro LB, bleed from sword and gunfalme is OK, the rest doesn´t need condies and it results in nearly all builds spaming conditions.
I play power warrior and i ask myself WTF when i strike with skull grinder … Its a power weapon. The daze seems reasonable but the conditions ?
Well at least i kill the condi warriors with the power version quite easy ^^.
Since i play only ele and power warrior, condi warriors don´t realy hurt me, but the increasing numbers like necro last season might be a sign ….

I do agree, both the condition spam as well as the passive regeneration seems too powerful. You can add those to the long list of too powerful stuff, though.

The only way to fix anything in this game is an overall nerf to pretty much everything.
Honestly, if you don’t realize the ridiculous overall powercreep we have had over the years and instead insists on nerfing this class or that class only then we must be playing different games.

I still feel like we will get this instead: The reduction of warrior sustain and maybe a reduction of adrenalin gain. The change of Endure Pain from an ability to a corruptable boon, nerf to CI and probably some other changes that will take the condition warrior out of the meta and make the weaker builds pretty much unplayable.

for those who dont know who koss is, here is the picture:

They will still, not know who koss was, only that is needed to be known is that he never runned back to Melonni, he always runned into the fight.

The main thing to know about Koss is not only was he a great tank, and also that he had a decent Afro and not half of a styrofoam ball stuck on top of his head like the “Afro” in this game.

Guardian

  • Depends on the Guardian. Sounds like your were fighting a dragon hunter, but there are two types of Dragon hunters.
  • Skirmisher DH: These guys use traps more skillfully and are probably the hardest thing for you to fight. They use Trappers runes often and are constantly moving and setting up a very unfriendly battle field. Keep an eye on them as they move and you will be able to see where they dropped their traps. You can cancel two of their traps with dodges, but because they choose not to drop their traps on top of one another, they will have more options. This is the type of DH i play, and honestly, i tend to beat out most warriors i face with it.
  • Turtle DH: These are the guys that stand in their traps and just turtle there while pulling you into the traps. while very powerful these guys tend to lay their traps on top of one another. this means you can use a single dodge through them to cancel all their traps at once. Then just like i showed you, you can short cast into a burst skill. They will lay their traps again, which is when you simply dodge again, swap weapons and burst again. This effectively takes out their biggest combo. they will likelly cycle through their sheild>Meditation>Sheild to buy time for their traps to come back up, no problem, by this time you’ll have another dodge ready to avoid teir next trap burst. after that they are screwed. they will have 4 heals during the engagement, (Two from virtues, two from heal)
  • Dragon hunter in general: They have lots of sustain is used correctly, but they are shut down by Condi’s. In the direct damage department, you just really need 4 good hits on them and they will Die. 4, 5k+ hits will kill them. If you need toclose the distance, use a movement skill. Remember that they can drop you to 50% health, but if they do your Defy pain will kick in. don’t get scared just because they have a big initial burst. just concentrate on hitting them 4 or 5 times before they can pop a block or invulnerability. They are also short on stun breakers. almost forgot that.

Ethernal Battlegrounds wxp question

in WvW

Posted by: X T D.6458

X T D.6458

How are the teams in eotm set? Is it the same as for eternak battlegrounds (underworld and far shiverpeak together) or are the teams differently. I am asking because we always seem to lose, apart from one week last week

Eotm teams are set by color, so whichever world is green players from that world will play on the green team together. It basically uses a megaserver type of system incorporated for wvw with instances and pairing players from different servers.

So is different from Ethernal Batyleground where servers play against eachother?

EB is just another map like the borderlands, it has nothing with do with matchups and servers. Regular wvw involves servers fighting each other, meaning if you are on JQ for example you can only go into JQ’s WvW maps and play with other JQ players in reg in EB and the borderlands. For EOTM if your server is JQ and they are green for the week, in EOTM you will be put on the green team with other players that are also on servers that are green for the week.

I say what needs to be said, get used to it.

The Searing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Konig Des Todes.2086

Konig Des Todes.2086

Searing was the result of an extremist sect within the charr, they got a lot of support as they were of course taking advantage of all charr wanting their freaking homeland back!
Yeah, it’s complicated.

Charr originate from east of the Blazeridge. They owned Ascalon for less than a lifetime as it was under the Khan-Ur’s reign that they conquered it, and with the Khan-Ur’s death that humans were able to push the charr so far north as to begin building the Great Northern Wall.

The Searing might have been performed by the Flame Legion’s shamans, but at the time the entire shaman caste which spanned the four legions were the effective rulers – the Flame Legion were just on top because they had the most shamans. It was also something that almost all charr were agreed upon doing – it wasn’t really until Pyre that some doubt and disdain was truly seeded among the non-Flame Legion and non-shaman caste.

If we want to argue “give Ascalon back to its original inhabitants” then we should be giving it back to the grawl, since the only other sapient individuals to live there/near there were Forgotten and dwarves as far as we know – that’s who the charr fought when invading what is now called the Blood Legion Homelands and Ascalon.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Bag Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cyninja.2954

Moreover it seems that for every 60 minutes of playtime in WVW, I am spending up to 10 minutes of that hour doing little more than salvaging/selling blues/greens/yellows, as well as the almost ludicrous amount of excess crafting materials.

Bag space is a luxury good in this game. It takes about 1-2 minutes to salvage/sell an inventory of 120 items +30-50 loot bags if you:

- salvage everything up to rares
- salvage all rares except for 4-5 which are worth selling directly
- wait with opening all loot bags until enough room is cleared, then repeat the process

If you are not caped at 160 inventory space (all upgrades, 20 slot bags), 80 (no upgrades, 15 slot bags) is an easy to achieve bareminimum, 100 (no upgrades, 20 slot bags) or 135 (all upgrades, 15 slot bags) are attainable. Rember to check for alternative 20-slot bags besides buying them off the TP (Fractal bags, Halloween bags, etc.).

I personally use a system of: 1 normal 20 slot bags, 3 green fractal loot bags, 1 rare fractal loot bags, 1 exotic fractal loot bag, 1 invisible bag.
With the inventory sized to 20 items per line (bags hiden) I have an instant overview of where what is and needs to get salvaged (no need to watchout with salvaging).

[alternate characters who have no inventory size upgrades get 1 green fractal loot bags, 1 rare fractal loot bags, 1 exotic fractal loot bag, 1 invisible bag]

Why set the limit of crafting materials so low? Whether the limit is 250 or 1 million it consumes the exact same amount of space on the server, so this arbitrarily low limit is clearly all about adding tedium in order to make a few extra bucks.

Same as inventory space. Bank space is a luxury good. 250 slots base are more than enough to keep selling off your bank materials to a minimum.

Inventory management is as tedious as you make it to be. Some small preperation beforehand though will reduce your management time significantly.

-OFC I’m gonna vote yes to keep the pairing

After 2.5 years of empty abandoned state? After being banned 3/4 times here for complaining about it? OFC i’m gonna vote yes. I was hoping for mega servers but this method works so far so why remove it?

We can argue all day about how to make the pairing better, I’m 100% ok with that.

But u can keep your “the pairing must go” hipster non-sense to you coz I am NOT returning to the wasteland that was the low tiers WvW.

There is a nice house in Divinity’s Reach that has no NPC’s inside. I think of it as mine. Also, one of the NPC girls in the tavern is my imaginary girlfriend who I am cheating on with that tramp on the 2nd floor. There’s an old man who keeps telling me to get out of his house in another building. I pretend he’s my grandfather and I let him stay in my old place, but he’s too senile to understand. Every day I pretend to water the plants in front of my pretend house. That’s why they always look so green.

It’s unfortunate that once again something that effects the entire community of players is addressed solely to the population who frequent the forums. This poll, useful as it may be, was introduced on a Sunday (US, Pacific Time) with no notice appearing about its existence until 20 hours later on the twitter feed.

It’s a shame that a company that can put adds for their products in the game “can’t” [won’t] put real information about changing those products in the game.

Sure, folks like me will retweet and do other social media links; but, it’s an indirect, inelegant solution to a simple problem of direct communication.

[Edit to append appreciation.]
I was pleased to find the HUD notification in WvW and receive the in-game mail about the recent poll the day after I made the post above. This is definitely a step in the right direction that I hope will be followed with future efforts to improve the game.

Legendary fun - Chuka and Champawat

Don’t know if there was a thank you thread for this so I made one.

Ignoring the gold I spent, this was the most fun I had doing collections and such for a legendary. The story and quests for Chuka and Champawat are actually fun and interesting.

After completing the bow I could see why the legendary process was slow. So many little steps in so many places that all had to be linked would create a massive headache for any developer. Thanks to the developers who went through the painstaking efforts to give us a non-unicorn rainbow f**ting, tiger roaring short bow.

If you haven’t done this legendary I can tell you that it is incredible. The graphics on firing your first shot are amazing – two tigers seemingly jumping into the bow. After that, on a ranger at least, you fire tigers with a quiet tiger roar. On bow skill 3 you get 5 tigers. Your foot prints are glowing claw marks.

Again, thanks for creating a fun quest and legendary.

infinite dodges?

It depends the skills have intervals where they can be hit but these intervals can be interrupted by a dodge which, if done consistently without lag, has overlapping evade intervals. So in the hands of a good play a thief can theoretically dodge everything 100% of the time using active dodges instead of random dodges and timing their skills right.
