Please dont do this, its already hard enough sometimes to defend keeps against huge zergs, if we cant even get our reinforcements in to help defend, than the waypoint might as well be removed entirely.

And the added annoyance of having to deal with yet another rising tier server that will screw up matches in the lower tiers.
You’re probably trying to achieve a similar thing to what warmachine is doing with kaineng in the NA tiers.

WSR should feel justifiably proud of their performance this week. I think we at Gunnars were expecting WSR to be the easy points this week, and you have FAR from been that. I also don’t think you should give up the fight for second place just yet!
I’ve only been playing WvW since early October, but this has been my favourite match up to date, and not just because it looks like we might actually win.
The fights have been generally well matched, often three way and also very hard fought. I have seen little of the enormous map-stomping zergs that we have had to fight the last few months, but instead seen lots of three way fights where the outcome has always been in doubt. There has also been hardly and sign of any form of cheating or hacking – unlike a few other matches that I won’t mention.
This match has been very important in the re-building of Gunnars Hold. We have re-organised, worked on our communications, worked on our tactics, and this is finally starting to have an effect.
Not only do we have some great WvW guilds – but our small guilds and more and more of our individual players are getting on the community Mumble voice comms and getting organised into groups and being given group objectives. – We had around 60+ people on the community mumble last night (not huge numbers by higher tier standards I know) as well as the bigger guilds also using their own TS/Vent etc.
All in all a pretty good week so far for Gunnars Hold.

Nope, don’t know any. They are invisible even while stomping, so I don’t get to know them, couldn’t even tell you what they are wearing.
Most of them just wander around looking for easy kills without even bothering to find bessies to kill or something useful.
There might be a few good ones out there but how do you tell? A complete noob can jump on one, get lucky and 3 shot kill a player in under a second- does that make them good?
I’ve met a few decent ones but with stealth and culling such a problem I can’t classify anyone who plays that type of thief as good. Having said that I know there are a few group players playing thief that can actually play their class well and contribute meaningfully group vs group.
Close list and ask for classes that don’t basically exploit culling and a bad game mechanic.
Unless I’m mistaken the largest difference lies in that Hold the Line applies the boons to allies, interacting with AH. SY only applies the boons to you.

This is very far from the truth.
Even more so inside of MMOs where there is complete data.
I’m pretty sure that the only way to have “complete data” in a science that purports to study human action would be to be omniscient with regard even to the thoughts and motivations of the people involved. Certainly more data helps with the analysis of specific historical trends, but the data still isn’t “complete.” We’re dealing with the activities of human beings, not the motion of inanimate objects, and as such, much of the “motive forces” behind economic trends lie beyond our view.
The economy is headed for a state where new players will be powerless to purchase certain items. As the inflation grows out of control, new people will need to rely in irl friends or generous guild mates to be able to function. This will shift the game to having far less casuals playing. Like everything in the game is doing now.
“To be able to function?” Ridiculous. You do not need a legendary to function. You don’t even necessarily need exotics to function… but if you do, there are plenty of ways to get them that have nothing to do with gold. (THIS is the difference between GW2 and the real world.) And the best stuff, Ascended gear, isn’t available at any price in gold; you have to farm it. And there is no way to use gold to prevent another person from playing. Only sheer envy could possibly cause someone to QQ over the prices of items on the trading post.
To the WSR thief team who kept our (RoF) northern camp for a while tonight….
I welcome you to the meta-game. We all know that a thief is hard to kill solo, and obviously a group of thieves who take over a supply camp and build siege will be ridiculously difficult to kill. So we ignored you.
I sincerely hope that you died from boredom, because that’s what the thief issue is coming down to. I have no interest to deal with you, and when I know you’re there, I won’t be going there.
I hope Anet is listening here, because enough is freaking enough with the thieves.
Agreed! Been suggested before but the lack of titles is annoying.
Maybe I am sceptical for having played Age of Conan and experienced how “not-in-touch” Devs can become with their games..especially on the pvp side of things.
And how neglecting and/or forcing playstyles WILL break a pvp com over time.
Some things to consider about:
Progression
Progression in terms of upping stats by level, gear spiral (Ascended gear coughcough), etc.
-> destroys the “power ceiling” and therefore will be (and has been in every other title)…
GAMEBREAKING over time
On the other hand progression by ranks/titles, scoreing ladders for guilds and/or individual players to differentiate themselves (“Arcade Station score AAA” and people even paid for it…)…
IS A MUCH WANTED INFLUX/INCENTIVE TO WVW
Suggestion: Achievements ladder
Who (guild/player) killed / build / repaired / healed /capped / held the most a given day/ battle week.
Rewards
Defending can net some decent rewards as long as it gets attacked…. But doing the karma train seems more worthwhile still to most players…
In addition depending how/whom you ask you might get different oppinions on the reward matter:
-> a lot (non-crafting) player regard the whole WvW set as to expensive and restrictive (cuz its not useful to a lot of builds)
-> …and dont get me started on the AG-matter…
-> …not to be forced to pve/craft/trade for WvW equip/siege
—> many pvp players like to see titles / ranks / emotes / visual gimmicks as part of their rewards/progression.
—> Player actions haveing MORE impact on WvW server score
Suggestion: Scale Rewards
The longer a structure didnt got tapped/reset the higher its rewards should become for both defending and taking the objective.
In addition the attackers should get some bonus WvW score points if they manage to cap.
—> Gives more incentives to build out/hold a tower/camp.
—> Strengthens guilds and server com
—> Karma train cycling will reduce
—> Adding deeper meta to score strategics
—-> Dominating server might “spare” some structures to up rewards…giving away some points&time to the defender
—-> The longer you hold a structure the more troublesome it will get. cuz even underpopulated but organized and strategically working servers could still “switch the outcome” by concentrateing on those objectives. (and might solve night-capping to some degree…)
—>>Scoreing overall will become less predictable over the week and if you start out to dominant into a week it might even completely backfire.
MAPS
I can relate that more WvW maps need some serious dev-manpower/time… BUT
Changeing textures around might be doable. Keep the map, but change the ground textures (convert ice map into desert map i.e.) and/or give a seasoned theme. Every object without collision-mechanic could be replaced (i.E. Grass/Flowers/bushes…and even trees could change as long as they remain at their map position).
Its not only about new WvW map mechanics, but also about a change in looks for a lot of players.
Culling
I get that it takes some time…but also it seems client-related. On High settings i experience way more culling issues.
Why not introduce an option to “Never cull tags/generic placeholder”?
Would make it easier to discern between client and server-side related problems. I dont need to know about class/equip/style/hp of some player group 100m away…but at least I have(want/need to know that some group is around and where they are heading.
UI
None wants to click around a raid group pane…and none asks for it.
See, for a Commander/Squad leader its about information.
i.E.:
- How many still live in group 3?
- How many players are part of a given squad group?
- Where is group 3 now on the map? everyone together or split apart?
- How many supplies does the raid currently have?
- Commanders of stealth Squads want their group to know where they are…but none else…its about stealth after all
- haveing different raids talking in the same team chat can be very confusing…raid chat needed
- Commander icon should show guild heraldric…instead of the generic blue icon
At least in my exp these are the (often only little) things I miss or see a lot player asking for it in/for WvW (or other pvp titles).
well i decided to farm mine instead of buying them. WITH help from guildmates im up around 8 cores and 1 lodestone after more than a month. these definately need to be made more available.
for people saying purchase gems to buy charged lodestones(second poster i believe), right now 20 dollars gets you 32 gold. some of the items will take you over 1000 gold in cores/lodestones to make. thats about 312 dollars for a non legendary item that just takes alot of cores. thats 2-3 years of a subscription on another game. think about it.
I don’t understand this sense of entitlement that people have nowadays. It doesn’t matter that Mjolnir costs more than Volcanus. If you want it, put the time and effort in that’s needed to farm it; don’t expect to have it handed to you. The same thing goes for legendaries. If you want a legendary that’s apparently harder to farm, then farm harder. Don’t complain about it on the forums because it doesn’t seem fair to you.
people like you fail to see the near impossibilty of getting items that require charged lodestones legitimately. the two people i knew that had items of similar value cheated and got banned. it promotes unhealthy game play and an unhealthy economy. the price will only go up as gold buyers will be the only ones to afford it and buy up the very small supply with ill-gotten money. no one is asking us to hand it to us, we are just asking anet to let us farm for the kitten item.

Kinda strange, but over the last week or so, I’ve been finding that I’ve had to UP Toughness just to stay alive…
Could it be the Vigor Nerf? Possibly.
But just in general, I feel i’m taking ~A LOT~ more damage than normal.
Thieves C&D / Steal / Backstab combo’s are stupid OP when they get it off: IE, when you’re worried about the other 2-3 people and don’t see the thief come in. Whhich is fine, that’s ‘thier thing’.
But 9k from stealth… on 3k+ Armor.. yeah. A little too much. For most of us, that’s over 50% of our health!
Do you see this A-Net… 50% of our health.
To answer your question, however (gets off soapbox)…
1) Dodging is critical (healing on dodge is super important: 450 +healin is a very nice place to be as it’ll give you about 650 health).
2) Protection… gotta have it on.
3) Blinking / Leaping / JI… use them defensively too. Dont’ always open w/ Leap/RoW + JI.
You can try Sigils of Energy + Food (the one that gives you passive 40% end regen), to help keep you up.
It just happened at Briar on Dz borderlands too.
You know, i was willing to accept that it was only a few people who were ruining Dz’s reputation, but now it’s clear that cheating is rampant on your server. It’s unbelievable really, at this point I’ve played against almost all EU servers and not once have i met one with this amount of cheaters/hackers/exploiters. It shows a clear lack of character among your playerbase. I feel sorry for those who don’t cheat, but the scale of it amongst the Dz playerbase shows that you either condone it, or at the very least there’s a tacit acceptance of it on your server.

This is a kinda new bug (like 2 or 3 weeks i guess) and it only happens in Sunnyhill as far as i know. It happens automaticlaly when using several skills on the door and since we were attacking the door we couldnt really control it
thats a verry selective bug, seems to work only when germans server is involved, never seen that to any rest of the servers. Hope ANet fix that “bug” with some permanent bans

I don’t get y everyone complains about zergs. Many people say that people should use more strategy yet the zerg is one of the best strategies there is at times. If u want to capture a key point on the map what r u gonna do? Either send Ur main zerg somewhere else to distract the enemy while a team tries to ninja it or u send mass force there and take it before they can react. And what about defending? If u hold a key point that is under attack are u gonna only send 5 people to defend it? Probably not, Ur gonna send a zerg to wipe them if it’s a small attack or to defend if its a large attack. If a tower is defended by 10 people that know what they r doing its probably gonna take 20 people tocap it. There r times a large force is needed it’s just how it is. If something was done to eliminate zergs then wvw would be finished. So to all u zerg guild when someone tries to flame u just laugh at them. U probably already rolled them multiple times which is y they cry.

The problem is not the challenge to get these things, there is no challenge. The only thing these take is time, and if you can make more money in real life in a shorter amount of time then just buy the gems to convert into gold it becomes pointless to do otherwise, you’d be asking him to “work” in a game longer than he needed to in real life to obtain something only useful in this game. If you could make 30 dollars an hour why are you going to put in 60 hours at a job making 7.50 an hour? Are you just that dull?
They won’t change this and they won’t remove this because no matter how much you try to cover it up Anet wants you to spend real cash on these things if they didn’t this game wouldn’t be in the state it is, mark my words things will only get worse.
Please remove gates as well.
too powerful? you can stand in them for the full duration and just heal like it’s nothing. And if the enemy has a dozen people on arrow carts, then they deserve to keep whatever they’re defending anyway.

We want to start this letter off by saying that we think you are really cool, and that’s why we’re writing this to you and not dancing on your corpses. You’ve been a great enemy, but some things have changed in the last couple of weeks, and we can’t ignore them anymore.
When we first started fighting, we thought everything was going really well. We had a lot of battles and fought over many of the same towers. But lately, we’ve realized how incompatible we are.
You started a parade and made things really awkward. We knew you were bored, but it’s like we don’t even know you anymore. The way you fight us, it’s like you want us all to yourself all the time, and we’re not like that. We want to go out and fight other servers too. We tried to deny it and tried to make things work with you, but the more we tried, the more we realized we just aren’t right for each other.
If we keep on like we are, we’ll begin to hate each other, and we don’t want that, because we think you can make another server very happy. You should be with a server who enjoys dueling and parading around, and who can appreciate you for who you are.
We’re sorry we can’t bring ourselves to log in and stomp on your faces, but we know you are understanding, and we know you must be feeling the same way about us. We wish you the best of luck!

I don’t care who has left the server, just as long as I can get a good party with my guild – and with my guild they’re all good parties – I’ll be out smashing old foes and old friends alike night after night in the borderlands or battlegrounds. I don’t care if the server is down on points due to quitters this week – just makes it all the more sweet to see us roll on our on-hours.
Cheers for the extra lootbags ex GH guilds – with so many of you out there there are loads to pick up! WvW has never been so profitable! I’m having to get extra backpack space to carry all the loot this week!

it’s too high, irrelevant to the tiers or server sizes. it’s too high cause whenever you actually have a WvWvW battle, it’s lag lag lag.
seriously, either have the capability to service your game or write a smaller game spec.
Most zones have been empty since Flavor of the Month Dungeon was introduced

i actually like the idea of the enemy in ‘uniform’. … “red horde inc to xxx !”
i do wish the game give way more feedback like the player name when you click on him though. and then i haven’t even started about the lack of area/zone wide text feedback in the text window. i find the lack of things like “xxx was killed by yyy at zzz” , “location xxx has been taken by the forces of yyy” , (in guild chat) “a guard was killed at (name of location claimed by the guild) with xx enemies in the area” make me feel almost ‘blind’ compared to my previous pvp based mmos.
Camping a keep near you since 2001 !
I don’t think Anet realise how many of us only play this game for WvW. I think the WvW experience is AMAZING and the WvW team of devs are AMAZING. I just wish they would speak with a louder voice in Anet HQ and stop the dungeon/gear/pve teams from getting all the resources to improve that aspect of the game which we all know is just AI fights.
