Last thing i need when i have 10 guys beating my face down with my kitten planted 5 feet below ground level like your typical ghetto gang bashing, is more XP or Karma.

Has no one ever thought that the effect would be better utilized as a defensive force equalizer or multiplier instead of something that useless?

Requesting WvW status update

It seems very odd there have not been any moderator posts in the past few days/week to touch on some more details of the WvW update. I would figure if Anet wanted to have a truly successful WvW “makeover” they would have to keep open communication with the community that plays WvW 24/7.

So this is that opportunity since most players do NOT use GW2 twitter or if there are any other social sites that Anet prefers to use instead of their own official domain.

(No quoting/posting updates/status from a month ago, that would just make you look silly to say the least)

What baseline can we expect, this is a very simple question that should be able to receive a really simple or even detailed response that might be similar to a table of contents. Granted Anet will say “We cannot tell you what we will do because even we do not know until the last minute”. Which is true somewhat, but mostly that is used to make it seem like they have no idea what CORE elements of WvW will be addressed.

For example: (Anet, you can list with bullets what main issues you would like to address

  • Culling
  • WvW reward
  • Badges of honor reward
  • Dynamic event credit reward
  • Dolyak guard npcs not efficient/effective
  • Siege blueprints being soulbound but still able to transfer between characters (seems like 2 people in the same department disagreed on this solution which is why we can trade the blueprints by dropping them but yet they are “soulbound”)
  • Bigger or new map(s)
  • Rework npcs such as Grub/Champion Tree/Mosquito event/Quaggan/Temple
  • The water in the Borderlands that every single person hates
  • Is the “glitch” where the waypoint is available for 1-3 seconds after Repel Enemies event going to be “resolved” with this patch or is that still a method we can use to reinforce falling Keeps
  • Is Outmanned buff going to receive an update? We all know how pointless that buff is and HAVE known since release of this game 5months+ ago
  • Will Orbs come back? If not what are we doing to replace them? WvW has become even more stale since the removal
  • ADD THE OPTION IN REPORT FOR HACKING/EXPLOITING PLEASE
  • Resolve current queue issues that have recently been reported but have not been addressed recently
  • Current WvW titles are far out of the limit of many if not everyone who plays GW2, all kittentalk aside nobody can rack up one of those titles in 6 months – 1 year unless 24/7 focused on that single title
  • Guild claiming currently has no purpose unless to activate guild buffs when under attack, why can we not see who claimed the location and or have additional options upon claiming a Keep/Tower/Camp
  • Additional rewarded loot for killing enemy commanders (and/or higher loot table)
  • Invulnerable zones/anti camping zones that reach into supply camps in the Borderlands (These are not a big issue by any means, but lots of people are ….. and believe this is hacking/exploiting and I’m sure that’s racking up the bug reports/paperwork, would be efficient to remove so that frees up time for whomever has to read all those support tickets)
  • Address siege locations that “cannot be countered”, remove or maybe even add more
  • More high ground/cliffs everywhere, Borderlands and Eternal
  • Incentives for WvW both for guilds and for players (The virtual score that may or may not get reset has no bearing on if my guild is in WvW, rather if we feel like doing pvp together we go into WvW, which is always . But we are not an entire server and at many times servers lose even when there is enough active population, but not enough actually in WvW due to score and/or seeing a map 100% another color or the fact that there have been literally no incentives to WvW (other than PvE world bonus maybe? I personally don’t believe anyone has seriously considered those that valuable enough for PvE players to get into WvW.

Without incentives this has created a catch 22 where if a server loses, morale drops, participation drops, server’s ranking drops, server drops whole tiers, people transfer, dead server until massive alliance comes and makes active again. Granted with paid transfers, not every situation will immediately result in transfer, but with weeks of terrible participation in WvW combined with constantly losing, players will either leave Guild Wars 2 (which many have) or they will just leave WvW (which far too many have)

(Again please no quoting from 1 month ago or even 2 weeks ago; issues like culling and queue and maybe a few others require constant update as those ARE game breaking, but this thread is not to agree/disagree on these topics as much as it is to help Anet create their own “table of contents” of what they KNOW will be updated)

WvW has just lost me… the amount of stealth classes is just overwhelming. The rendering issues just gives them too much advantage. I don’t even know how to keep motivated to play this game anymore. I play alts, i try diff builds, but the game’s WvW mechanic is utterly ruined by the stealth/rendering aspect. I am not even talking about thieves, but i have seen one party of 5 thieves take down too many people given their advantage… of being completely untargetable. Then you take a high burst class like the memser and give them the same stealth/teleport abilities.

I refuse to jump on the bandwagon and play these two classes. The other most prevalent class is the bunker elementalist, you dont even see any other forms of that class, its just 2 daggers of escapability, cc, stun and amazing escapability.

I can’t get motivated to bring diversity to a game where the Devs seem to love three classes and kitten the rest. I can’t be the only one who is tired of game mechanics being used to break good strategy. forget it. Who gives a crap. Im just whining, and all the fanboys will just come in and flame how amazing it is, likely playing a thief, mesmer or bunker ele.

Have fun, im waiting for better. I play for WvW, but there is no reason to even play WvW. IT effects nothing, and this game is based on spvp (uh, ok, that’s REALLY boring, and repetative) or pve, which is mindnumbing after you do a dungeon once. I dont know why I even get onto wvw, you take a castle, 10 seconds later, another team takes the castle, and it just becomes a cyclical roaming zerg.

A lot of what I see as complaints are where people feel they are unfairly disadvantaged due to things like “market manipulation” and general monetary flow issues.

What if there was no currency in game for items on the trading post and you simply listed what you had to offer and people took what they needed to accomplish their goals? With the limited banking ability in the game, even someone attempting to horde everything would run out of space to put it (or buy more crystals to use to expand their banking options).

You would certainly get rid of the gold farmers de facto. Crafting would become relevant again as getting what you need to stock the variety of craftable goods would be painless. Certain perks, like titles for most contribution to the TP, could provide incentive to farm for others’ use or to craft for others’ needs.

What would be the necessary protections in the game to prevent griefing from people taking from the surplus simply to destroy it? What would be the next complaint from those who couldn’t get what they needed or wanted? Would an in-game economy freed from a need for cash be viable and be more desirable?

The precursors really are fun blockers. I really had fun playing WvW. Then about 4 months ago I decided to go for a legendary. Precursors weren’t expensive, so I thought, I start with the expensive parts – the 3 gifts. A New Years Eve I finished my gifts. My precursor was at 140g, so I thought, I can do that in 3 weeks. 3 weeks later, I had over 140g but the price was at 300g. Well I just went on farming for a while, but right now? I can’t play the game anymore. This precursor is like a bad taste as soon as I start the game.
I mean, the finish line was already in sight and then just took up speed.
Of course some say, Legendarys have to stay rare.
But do you really think anyone will start the game any more, if he knows, that some contents are just available for the ones who do hardcore gaming AND started half a year ago^^
I just hope Anet will react soon.

problem we have is:
with thanks to DR, grinding in locations like CS isnt profitable anymore.

You cant grind the old style and expect to hit goals with all the updates.
Anet limited us in the amount and way we can get gold.
Precursors price keeps rising…
Anet says no inflation..

Yet inflation is when the value of money is devalued.
I see MASSIVE inflation on precursors.
I see Insane inflation on Charged Lodestones.

Im sorry anet… yes there is no inflation on things like butter, but what do you call a precursor which typically started at 50g… costed 150g at peak member height… and now is way over 600-700g when 10-15% of the player base has quit…. (meaning we dont have number as we used to do 2-3 months in the launch of the game).

Less player base…
Higher cost of getting item.
Lower payout due to things like DR.

Except right now the few people who are buying their legendaries are spending the money on gold sellers instead of anet, but, then again, we don’t know if anet or ncsoft has directly any involvement with those gold sellers. Who knows.

Goldsellers are a plague on the gaming industry, plain and simple, I would sooner associate with Ralphie from “The League”… much, much sooner

Surely the effect on players is the same (ie players can acquired in-game benefits they haven’t earned by playing the game) regardless of whether it’s Anet doing the gold selling or some other company doing the gold selling?

Make Lengendaries easier to obtain, and you can replace all those “Precursors are too difficult to obtain” threads with and equal number of “Precursors are too easy to obtain” threads. If you guys really everyone and their dog to have one (hyperbole…calm down), then let’s change them from Legendary to Ubiquitous and just have players select the one they want during character creation.

Let me clarify, i said “im out” which means, pulling all of my money off the TP. I just have a lot of concerns about things becoming automated, and i am almost positive most things have become so already. Furthering this with people easily doing so by the masses, which is where this could head, puts the final nail in the coffin for an already fragile economy.

Just curious on ANET view, knowing they are working on the extended experience, and just how far down this slope we are going to go, legit or not.

It is not your concern, it is ArenaNet’s concern to allow this or not. If ArenaNet doesn’t allow gw2spidy then why did they not ban him when the owner of gw2spidy contacted them for their approval? The gw2spidy website is only possible with the blessings of ArenaNet and this program does the same thing. The gw2spidy website also scans the website owner’s guild wars 2 client program memory to obtain session key.

And by the way, my virus scanner also accesses and scans my guild wars 2 client memory every so often. Does this mean that people with virus scanners cannot play the game because our apps would violate the TOS?

Anet shouldn’t give the thief Initiative point or a littlebit less Initative point because they can use powerful skills so much but other classes can use their 4th-5th skill only after 20-30 sec.

Heartseeker is the most annoying thing besides culling in WvW. Its not that big of a problem in 1vs1 but theres less you can do when you get jumped by a 2-2-2-2 thief in the middle of a fight.

I also noticed many thieves start running as a duo just spamming 22-22-22-22 from out of stealth. Awesome fun.

ATM heart seeker has it all: gap closer, decent damage, cheap/ repeatable. Remove 1 of 3 and its fine.

They’ve learned their lesson I think: laurels are nothing more than duplicate copies of Mystic Coins EXCEPT they are account bound. If they have recognized that some things that were up for sale should have been account bound, don’t expect things that they got right the first time around to suddenly go up for sale.

Very true. I feel they could make new gifts for crafting Legendary Armor….or a new round of Legendary Weapons. That way, they could make these gifts trade-able and lock down the new round(s) of Legendaries.

It’s sad that they made Legendaries trade-able in the first place. While I can make enough money to buy one outright….I don’t feel that I should be able to….nor will I. I will craft my own Legendary, because I feel that’s the way it should be.

Only 1-2K? Try over 3K with 8 stacks. And it triggers off of completely kitten things. I take confusion damage when I dodge roll since I have a trait that heals on dodge. I take confusion damage while channeling invulnerability. I take confusion damage channeling block. Sometimes I take confusion damage when I do nothing at all.

It needs a total redesign from the ground up.
