Live with it, just like how you live with your life.
If you can’t find humor in this, then there’s something wrong with you. the dev team decided to entertain us with someone funny, yet those people who complain constantly over such trivial things shouldn’t play until these minor event is over. yes, there such always be an option though this won’t last at all ~ since there’s no point in telling you to just enjoy it ~ then don’t play the game until then. quit being mad and get over it.

Great April fools joke! Loved it ( and I have seen them all)
At this time I would like to say we all like to complain, but in the end love the game. I know many of the April Fools jokes are done on personal time out of love for the game.
So any one else want to thank the develops for a great joke just join in……
Here are the people who are kittened off by the change so far:
-dual legendary holders, + other expensive exotics
-people who like to mix-match town clothes
-people who bought multiple dyes
-people who absolutely hate anything involving the gem store
The first three I can get behind, the latter I have no sympathy for because they think GW2 should be a charity.
As with all changes, there will be people who will be negatively affected. And they are more than likely to be vocal about their displeasure.
Either way, these changes are for the good of the game – it’s players and creators.
I thought I’d find something new to first post, but the things you said has been argued (and defeated) countless times. “Control” works wonders when done properly, and if that failed, there’s Evasion. Plus, constantly moving and evading and attacking is called “Active Combat” which I prefer than Holy Trinity (tank taunts/soaks damage, healer heals, dps well, they dps). If I wanted that type of gameplay, I wont be playing Gw2. If gw2 will adapt that game play, I will leave gw2 (and im sure many others too). Nothing new to see here, move along..
tl;dr: just NO to Holy Trinity.

I didn’t know dungeons need a tank. #LearnNewThingsEveryDay
I dislike the trinity and very much like what anet has done to keep it out of their game. I like that I have options with each class. I’m glad that my guardian can be a DPS truck and a cleric (not that I would ever do that because why?) but I’m happy to have the option.
Playing how anyone wants is awesome. I’m sorry that without the trinity, however, you are not playing how you want. But trinity games are a dime a dozen, but there aren’t many like guild wars 2. And that’s nice.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
I hate trinity, thanks Anet for not putting this unfair feature in game that always make certain classes welcome in groups wile others (usually assassins) are not welcomed and cant find pt entire day for a dungeon
Why someone would buy GW2 to whine about the lack of trinity when ARENANET ADVERTISEMENT HIS GAME FOR YEARS SAYING GW2 WOULD NOT HAVE A TRINITY?

It’s definitely not just because I’m lazy, but can we get some kind of WvW based exchange for Tomes of Knowledge? sPvP gets glory, PvE gets running around Lion’s Arch in circles constantly, we don’t have any.
What are your opinions?

lol we didnt ask you to turn £17 to convert to gold and really if you think we need you that badly at events then you really have something coming to you
well, yes, there is some p2w-element in the game, was there from the very beginning. Buy win or not, your choice, it is as easy as that. And if those few dollars/euros are too much for you, well, chances are, you should be thinking about your career instead of wasting too many hours in a game anyway.
A few dollars or euros? That resource gathering set costs £40, or $80 or whatever it is in euros! There’s nothing “micro” about these transactions.
Perhaps one day you will grow up, have a family, mortgage, responsibilities, or just count yourself lucky that you were able to hold on to your job during this economic crisis which has seen many people lose their jobs and homes overnight. All of which has appeared to have completely passed you by, or you simply grew up in a privileged household where your parents never knew when to say “no”. People have financial responsibilities outside of gaming, you know. Did it ever occur to you that some people work 70-80 hour weeks for a meagre salary and resort to gaming to get their minds off things?
Show some consideration for those of us who are not as well off as you.
Luck should never be a part of anything “important” in a video game. Having a Legendary is a pretty lofty goal for most players, and making one key component of the Legendary a lucky, random drop, is completely ridiculous. It should take time to acquire. A long time.
Technically someone could play the game for 4,000 hours and not have a precursor drop, due to bad luck. And someone else could play the game for 200 hours and get 2 precursors because they have good luck. RNG on something that is so important to the “end game” for a lot of players is completely unacceptable.
Precursors should have been ONLY craftable, and ACCOUNT BOUND from the very beginning. Same with Legendaries. It should have been about time spent, and prestige. Now, it’s about luck and lots of people buy them. Doesn’t mean much anymore.
And why should this only be female exclusive? Male characters should also have a more revealing options. Stop with these double standards. Why should every female set look more like the male version? Why not the other way around?
Just a little fun with something I thought about.
Has anyone noticed that the Guild Wars 2 forums have the same classes that you find in game?
Forum Warrior: These are the people that will defend their position emphatically, even when nobody else is even interested anymore. They will bunker down in a topic and sit for an hour, telling everyone why their opinion is the best.
Forum Guardian: These are the ones similar to the warrior, but spend more time defending Guild Wars 2 than they do themselves.
Forum Thief: The poster that puts in a single witty (at least in their mind) comment and then disappear. Sometime later, they may pop back in, but it’s only briefly.
Forum Engineer: Those that will take part of what a few other posters have already said and spin it in such a way that it becomes something totally different, can be explosive, but in most situations is useless.
Forum Necromancer: These are either the posters that resurrect old and well-dead topics or bring up old ideas that have been rehashed over and over again.
Forum Elementalist: These are the ones that explode into a topic right away, and if the other posters haven’t moved on after that, this person does. All burst… no substance.
Forum Mesmer: These are the posters that say the same thing over and over again, basically cloning their original comments excessively, usually prefaced by “My point still stands.” (I’m guilty as charged on this one.)
Forum Ranger: Usually contributes nothing to a topic, but fights like hell to prove they are important.
DISCLAIMER: This is just a bit of fun. Take it at that.

you did know that the bear take 2 conditions off 5 allies, and that the activation time (0.5 seconds) is almost instant, making it a VERY reliable skill. Not to mention low CD.
Mighty Roar takes 3 seconds to activate. THREE SECONDS of the pet being rooted. If it is damaged or you move out of its tiny tiny range within those 3 seconds, you loose the might.
Red moa has next to NO dps. Last night, i tested if it would use its healing cry similar to how drakes using their blast finisher (set pet to avoid combat, then tell them to attack manually). It does not, instead it waits and astonashing 50 seconds after initiating combat, to use the heal. Resulting in a few coyotes almost killing my poor ranger (i ran zerker).
Red moa fury does NOT work with compassion training (tested and reported it in the bugfix section many times over, nothing happens). Thus it will NEVER grant more then 14 seconds.
Pet boon duration does NOT scale with player boon duration. So while the tooltip reads “Fury 19.5 seconds”, you will still only get 14 seconds.
Moa DPS is laughable
Brown Bear, in WvW and PvP is a very good companion, but only as a supportive companion, you should be using it to cleanse conditions and tank damage (protect me), and leave the DPS to a cat or bird.
My preferred combination is Brown Bear + Krytan Drakehound for CC and Condi cleanse. The condi cleanse (well, really, it is a transfer, just like empathic bond).
Another EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THING TO MENTION is that while the bear offers lower DPS compared to other pets, it is pretty much the only pet type, able to tank mass condi spam.
If you use empathic bond, your pet will take 3 conditions off you. Player get 3 conditions less, pet have to take the damage from those instead. If you, like to use dogs, drakes and cats, like myself, you will find empathic bond very destructive. As it will simply melt your DPS pets.
Try fight a necro and watch what 25 stacks of bleeding, poison and chill does to your jaguar or jungle stalker. You would be lucky to even see the healthbar before the pet dies.
However, you are free to use whatever pet you want, but don’t come crying when Empathic Bond kills your moa, stalker, wolf, hyena or river drake. Because i warned you it would.
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
Failure to stop the Marionette before the power meter associated with it is filled results in a massive cannon going off and every single player within Lornar’s Pass being killed. Even those possibly on the other side of the map.
wtf
I know, shame these players have to waste 60c-2S to respawn!
lol, honestly if they’re on the map and not helping they deserve to die.
Glad GW2 has players who are so great at building a game community.
They should just shut down the servers when I stop playing.
lol@allthecarebears
See this, this right here? This is why I don’t want PvP “any time, all the time”. I had those games getting into MMOs, and I really didn’t like some of them. Meridian 59, where you could be hunted into being unable to play because someone decided they needed the lolz. Ultima Online, where you were either really good at PvP and understood the few quirks of the system . . . or you were just a lamb to the slaughter doing anything outside of town.
I do not want PvPers messing with my gametime.
I don’t want to have to click “no” or set myself to “ignore all fight requests” just so I can have piece of mind. I do not want to be harassed over refusing to fight. I do not want to have to defend myself when I’m not in WvW, and I honestly think games have gotten past this need to include an open-world PvP option.
And I really, really, have become weary of being sneered at for not wanting to partake in something I really stink at, because “it’s the only true way to play the game” or some similar sentiments.
WAIT, SAY WHAT?!
Yes, world-events need to be randomized and here is why: they have become a bloated, time-filler, bot-like run on (nearly?) every server. I will admit, I have run the gambit with the “reset zerg” but that only helped me to realize how ridiculous the situation has become. World-events are a joke now, a series of events to feed the rare, exotic, and ascended-hungry masses. They are not what they should be, events that spawn powerful bosses that have the potential to wreak devastation across the land if they aren’t stopped. The days were better before gw2stuff and the like when lions arch was filled with people calling out world events as they spawned. Spontaneity is what kept world-events interesting and, yes, it was good that not everybody in the world could make it there in time.
tl:dr fire shaman -> sb -> dwayna -> etc. is NOT good and completely ruins the nature of the world-events. Randomize the timers and kill the world-event map zergs.
Post-script: I know obtaining rares would become a little more of an issue but that is a problem with the open world loot not the world-events.
The problem is you’re not willing to spend the time to get another map completion; the solution is to pay others for their time/effort doing it
i.e. buy a legendary from the tp
Would it be fair to remove Gift of Exploration from the ingredients because you don’t wanna do it vs. everyone who had to spend the time for map completion to make his legendary?
I don’t think it can’t be any more clear than that.
It actually IS a solution to your problem. Your problem is you don’t want to grind out 100% map completion on a second character just to get another Legendary weapon. The solution is you can forgo map exploration and simply buy the Legendary weapon from the Trading Post. If you’re going for a third (or more) Legendary weapon then you’ve got enough gold and/or time to make purchasing a Legendary weapon a viable alternative to crafting one.
Last I knew 1 was still greater than 0. But it’s been a few years since I graduated, maybe the rules of math have changed.

Sanctum of Rall
False.
Ascended weaponary: +5% raw stat increase over exotics. That’s equivalent to a sigil of force, which people value at 2-3 gold on the TP. That’s significant enough for the devs to include traits that give +5% damage bonuses. And if you use power/precision/critical damage gear, that 5% is boosted significantly (I’ve seen anywhere from 10-15% increase being claimed) because of the synergy between these stats.
Ascended Armor: +2% defensive stat bonus is far less significant. But if you can take the opportunity to swap 2% of the defensive stats in other parts of your build for 2% more power/precision/critical damage stats then you’re again getting a boost bigger than the face value of 2%.
Infusion slots: Only Ascended gear has infusion slots. Currently, they can hold at most +5 stats each. I feel it is extremely likely Anet will use these slots as their next phase of vertical grind. The +5 will become +7, then +10, etc. If you don’t start your Ascended grind now, you’re going to be facing a much steeper one in the future (I’m guessing on the order of months).
Sigh… It’s this thread again.
You are the very reason that drives developers into not giving out any more info than what it necessary. If for one reason or another they can’t deliver that you jump on them like a pack of rabid wolves demanding them to deliver.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, deal with it.
Yes, shame on you customer for wanting to know what to expect in the future. How dare you expect them to live up to advertisements they make. Could you imagine a world where we held people accountable for things they say? It would be toxic madness!
The main problem in IMO the AI.
When your opponent doesn’t provide a challenge you don’t need to further your skills and become proficient.
As it is the AI in GW2 exists in a completely different dimension than the players:
- It simply doesn’t care about AoE
- In fact it’s oblivious to any sort of positioning, if a ranged mob gets pulled close to a stacked zerk group it will continue to attack them with its ranged attack from up close where it’ll get whacked by the zerkers full force
- It doesn’t time its (very very few) skills to interrupt/ spike players properly, spamming them when CD is down instead
- Its only reason it sustains itself is because of a disproportionally large HP pool
- The former excuses it from having to sue any heal skills ever, making player CC nigh irrelevant
- Due to its extremely limited skillset it can’t into teamplay. Unless it’s something hardwired like the Gongplaying Dredge (note that they will proceed to use their gong buffs regardless if they’re in a group or not and that they will neglect attacking in favour of using that skill once it’s off CD, even if the player is near death and could be killed quickly it will still choose to play its gong instead) mobs don’t have anything to compliment each other.
The only merit I can give it is that it holds off its attack if you use one of those “Effect on block” skills like Thief’s Spear No.3
The mobs needs to change drastically, lower their HP and give them means to defend and heal themselves instead, make them smarter, make them pose an actual threat that doesn’t blindly rush into a group of zerkers stacked in a corner.
Above all make PvE being about something more than just plain damage. How did it go again Jon?
“DPS: Call it whatever you like—DPS, damage per second—we just call it DAMAGE, and when it comes to making red bars go down, you can never have enough of it. Don’t trivialize it though” well guess what, you just did
You are not forced to do it.
When ‘You don’t have to play.’ is the answer, it means pretty bad things for the game in question.
And you are ignoring my post.
You don’t need to have a single piece of Ascended armor in order to do lvl 50 Fractals, seeing as you can get more than enough AR from simply upgrading the infusions in your rings.
And since you claim to love fractals you shouldn’t have much issues getting more then enough infusions to upgrade them quite high without having to spend more gold than you earn.
It is generally best to ignore strawman trolling arguments. But let’s follow this bit of nonsense to it’s end anyways.
The ideal goal would be 70 AR. You make the claim that you can ‘simply’ get there just from Infused rings. So we are looking at 5 AR on each of them from standard infusions, leaving 60 to go. That means you are looking for +30 Agony Infusions. The cost for the Thermocatalytic Reagents alone for each +30 Agony Infusion is over 8 million gold. This is ignoring the cost to get over five hundred million +1 Agony Infusions.
So let’s look for something a bit less trollish and at least closer to reality. Such as full ascended trinkets, infused back and rings. From the standard +5 Infusions you can hit 30 Agony Resistance, leaving 40 to go with three Agony Infusion slots. Getting +13 Agony Infusions isn’t as absurd as +30’s at least. But you are still looking at 4,096 +1 Agony Infusions for each of them. This is far more than you can actually farm on your own, forcing you to go to the Trading Post for at least a portion of them. At 15 silver each, you are looking at 614 gold, and then another 61 and a quarter gold for the Th. Reagents needed to combine them. So 675 gold for each Agony Infusion, and you need three of them. And at the rate that FotM give gold, you are going to be at it for years before you have gathered 2k gold for this.
And now we are back to where we started. The idea of ‘Just use Agony Infusions and you don’t have to grind anything but fratals!’ is absolutely absurd. No matter how you want to break it down, Agony Resistance is a very significant barrier to entry. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing, if there were other enjoyable endgame activities to GW2. But as it stands you have tPvP, WvW, and high level Fractals of the Mist.
And it seems like there are quite a few people who looked at the situation that the OP describes here and decided that the “we don’t make grindy games” MMO that they bought into isn’t really worth grinding up to the point where they could start playing effectively.
