A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Ascended gear isn’t supposed to be “cheap” or “easy to get.” People have been crying for shineys like this from day one. Now that they’re here, their implementation is “Atrocious.”
your opinion is wrong….
Want someone to link you how at 80 people were supposed to have best equipment easily?
Best in slot gear WAS supposed to be EXTREMELY easy to get….
This is the basis on wich people bought the game…
What aboyt from Tomorrow WWW get replaced with a golf game? maybe lot of golf fans would find it nice….yet WWW fans would be rightfully kitten ed off.
200g? The amount I spent was no where near that number. I just refined ori and ancient wood I gathered, made some sharpening stones and crafted a few exotics. I think I spent less than 25. Also the 200g on the website is due to the inflated prices that will eventually drop. oh from 450 I just refined ascended mats I got from champ loot bags.
Yes 200g. You speculated in wood/ore, as did I thankfully. Regardless its 200g.
Collect the stuff yourself and it is significantly less than 200G
WHY?!?? Why does this flawed logic always pop up in MMO’s?
It’s called opportunity cost.

It’s not limited to MMOs. People will drive 10 miles out of their way to save $1.40 off their gas bill. It’s ridiculous.
The problem is that people don’t value a) what they have and b) their time.
Hello all, I’m closing down this thread as it has veered off topic and there is a lot of back & forth which violates the Code of Conduct. If you wish to restart this thread and keep it civil and pleasant, you’re welcome to do so. Thanks for your understanding.
Poor bears. I honestly Just feel bad for the pets in this situation.
My Elementalist has 104% critical hit chance and about the same power. I die so quickly in any type of PvP mode, it’s not even funny.
This coming from the guy who will report “anyone running full Berserker and kicking those that don’t?”
What’s funny is, while in wvw or pvp, this would be a “noob” build, in PvE, this is teh “pro” build.
I knew it was a male thing!
Makes sense, supporting in my (very little) experience is a female thing! (inb4 males that play support builds jump on me, I’m not being too serious)
Lol actually that is an accurate statement. Generally speaking, support is more of a female role, while damage is more of a male role. Simply due to basic human nature. Although, you do find exceptions to every ‘rule’ (which is why male nurses exist for example). I was just poking fun originally, hehe.
what kind of bullkitten kitten kittenin 1950s Mad Men kitten garbage is this
I usually play healers (TRINITY!) and my fiancee usually plays warriors, does that mean she wears the pants?

Where is Chopps?
Chopps wont come unless he gets to autoattack with mainhand axe.
That is something I find annoying that other players do. There’s a certain philosophy I’ve had in MMOs for awhile, and I haven’t the foggiest why other people don’t do this:
If they form the group, it’s their rules.
It’s that simple. I haven’t encountered most of the in-game discrimination other people report to nearly the degree that they report it, and the reason why is because I read the descriptions before I join.
The people who whine are the ones who join a speedrun group because they want their group to go very fast. They don’t want zerk gear though and just wanna play the way they want. They mainly want to get carried by the speedrun group, but don’t want to contribute.
These people can post their own party “AC party, non-zerk builds welcome” And do it with like minded people. But then it takes longer and they get upset.
Then they get kicked from a speedrun group and come to the dungeon forums to call us elitist.
- One warrior hammer stomp and your spirits are dead
- One meteoric shower and your spirits are dead
- One barrage (lol) and your spirits are dead
In fact, any aoe, even if YOU dodge it, your spirits are nearly dead, like your pet, even with the traits.
Don’t see any real interest on those build in WvWvW, i better use regen/swiftness of shouts than this for a small group support (perma speed/regen).
BTW the buffs of spirits are on a internal cooldown of 10 sec so even if you proc the buff, it have to wait 10 seconds before it can proc again (75% chance traited) so basically, with chance, it can proc 6 times (60 sec stay) so with nof buffs in boons duration except the trait line, it proc prot for 3~3/4 sec…
The only interest i found in spirits are in Spvp and for the elite one, who can make a less interesting warrior banner
I strongly suggest you put these ‘what do you want to see’ type of threads in appropriate forums. Part of the problem in the past has been class forums are completely ignored so players are forced to air class issues in the sPvP forum because that’s the only one you visit.
If you’re going to make threads, make class specific ones in each forum. WvW one in the WvW forum. sPvP in the sPvP. And so forth. Otherwise we’ll all just be fighting amongst ourselves in a single thread. ‘Im not overpowered, you are!’ stuff.
That’s a really good idea which raises an interesting point. i am well versed in the game globally but not necessarily in the specifics of certain areas. So here is what i will do, i will post one in general asking for PVE specific feedback and then nominate two other members of staff to do the same in WvW and PvP and we can go from there. Note i am not going to do this over night as i do want to create some guidelines (set by me) for what the team can answer and can’t that way you guys can be frustrated with me rather than a specific developer (-:
Put simply though we don’t comment on specific dev. content that is in the pipe unless we are confident about it internally.

I think in any MMO, the community has a better idea about the direction the game should be going in than the developers themselves. Typically, MMO developers are arrogant and talk about how the vocal community members are confused, loud-mouthed idiots who have no idea what they really want – that all the detailed, constructive posts they make are just delusional fantasies that would send them running if it was ever really implemented. This is obviously a load of you-know-what, demonstrated in how when games fail to deliver what the community asks for, their population decreases drastically.
Even the biggest of the big WoW isn’t immune to this. When Blizzard started dumbing down content, making most classes totally faceroll, rehashing old content, making ‘prestigious’ rewards trivial to acquire, selling cool looking mounts while offering reskinned existing models in-game etc. the community said “stop that, or I’m leaving”. Blizzard of course didn’t listen, saying “we know best” and continued down that path. As a result, they lost something like 40% of their playerbase. We could argue that its just nostalgia, or that people quit because the game is old or whatever – it’s not. I know plenty of people (including myself) who would re-sub immediately if they returned the game to how it was in the TBC era.
With GW2, I have to say, the only real reason I continue to play is that it has a lot of potential and frankly, there’s no other MMO out there that I feel is worth playing. When you talk about delivering ‘groundbreaking content’ (a quote from the OP), I have to say there is nothing groundbreaking about GW2’s content. I don’t mean that offensively, either. If anything, the vast majority of the post-launch content has been very mundane. There has been an awful, awful, awful lot of “press F 250 times”, “go and slaughter these mobs in this zone event, with no tactics whatsoever”, “log in at this time on this date”, “go and do this bugged mini-game 20 times” etc. That’s not remotely groundbreaking. It’s actually quite poor.
However, there has been a pretty decent amount of high quality content, too. SAB, whether people like it or not, is a well made, creative piece of content. The new TA path is great, too. A little too many conditions from mobs, but other than that it’s nice. Fractals were an excellent addition to the game.
If the developers truly want to ‘collaborate’ with the community, I’ll be the first in line to write long, detailed posts about things I’d like to see in the game. By the same token, if another MMO comes out that ‘gets it right’ in the same way WoW ‘got it right’ back in 2004, I’ll be the first one to leave if the desire to collaborate with the community is merely all talk. Because, let’s be honest, you guys have a lot of idealistic plans that never see the light of day – including stuff that gets blogged about in detail.
Maybe they’re not as well received as Colin’s posts typically are, but they’ve interacted, and MADE THEIR POINT. They are not budging on this issue. It does not matter one bit what our suggestions are.
Thank you, ilr – I hadn’t seen those discussions. Admittedly I don’t spend time in the PvP forums so that likely explains it.
But to the issue at hand in this thread, my example of the Pet mechanic was just one example where many exist. You made a great point though that at least for this particular example, the “discussion” has been very unidirectional. It hasn’t been the collaborative effort in direction-setting that the OP is hoping we can achieve.
The thing that bothers me the most is that the devs in dealing with the public haven’t used any of the viable solutions for PVE that have existed in other titles for a long long time, long before they started working on GW2. It’s like they are all ingenue I would have expected a few mistakes here and there that’s common however to ignore the entire history of mmo development for pride is unacceptable imo and that’s how I’ve perceived their lack of concern for some of the simpler items. Like improving damage for pets in PVE, making them immune to AOEs by 85% 90% so they don’t die instantly, making them smart so they don’t accidently run over some left over AOE zone and die, make them all mobile even if it’s solely via traits that this happens (IE engineer turrets).
The pet classes would improve immediately if these things were done. Every mmo has the same concepts but different numbers when it comes to combat, they have the same problems, they all have to adjust and I’m just not seeing them taking the pet classes seriously enough to make them viable in PVE and WvW.

Wow….. even your misses crit. CRITICAL MISS!!!
Clearly this means we must nerf Warriors.
I will make it short. People are confused about where the game is going. Many of them have been citing the Manifesto, but as we were told, the Manifesto is mostly gone (well, play the game and you will see it, if you want to).
I do not say the new way is for the better or worse, in fact, I have no idea what the vision for Guild Wars 2 right now is supposed to be. Others feel like this too, so I guess a fair amount of your playerbase wants an answer why things are happening they way they do. Are some things just collateral damage or part or a bigger plan?
Sure we are asked to give constructive feedback, but how? Refering to the old manifesto, we are outdated and wrong and it will sound like a rant. If we just give feedback on single topics, we might miss the context and even though the ideas might be good, they will fail in the grand scheme.
Most of the things that have been setup as a roadmap have been implemented, but what is the aim for the future, what is down the road in a year or two. You must have a plan, some roadmap that you can at least share the direction we are heading to.
Share some information, knowledge will at least end the wild speculations and if you can, setup a new Manifesto, so the players can refer to that.
Thank you.
props for Christopher Eccleston
Ehehe. Thanks. I’m quite fond of him!
Now, as for the rest of this thread. Guys, guys…
Calm down. There is no need to bark at each other, just kill each other in the field.
So uhm, relax. Go put the kettle on and watch some Doctor Who…
Our goal is to have less currencies in the game, not more
Perhaps removing karma entirely (the original idea behind it is nice, but it currently has no meaningful purpose, and technically, unlocking akrma merchants for saving them is already a karma situation by itself), and fusing dungeon/ fractals tokens into a single one (or none), in a way that would still require players to run each dungeon for each specific armor.
Bang, half the currencies removed!
Our goal is to have less currencies in the game, not more
Everyone should just reroll a warrior and call it a day.
Warrior heavy armor, such good defense, nerf pl0x!
Armor mitigates so little damage it is next to useless. Difference between heavy and light ain’t that big. Protection is still way better than any armor. And guess what warriors don’t have protection.
Warriors always been a class designed around move in and out quickly while delivering burst. Why they got health pool + armor? Because they do the same as a thief, except they don’t have so many ports or stealth to mitigate damage with. They must all absorb it.
Mobility/armor/health is nothing wrong with the warrior. Good thief or mesmer still kills a warrior in 1on1. Especially the bad ones running around these days.
Healing signet is strong, a solution could be that it ticks every 3seconds, so you get 1.2k health each 3 seconds back. Reducing the frequency makes it less hard to burst a warrior down.
But warriors are pretty balanced right now in WvW atleast.
Who needs nerfs?
-Necro, really really strong in zergs as in solo fightsWho needs buffs?
-Ele, got hit to hard and need a few tweaks/buffs
-Guardian, for their solo play. They are in a bad position in 1on1 fights. They either die or kill nothing
-Ranger, they have been bad since day one and are free lootbags whenever I see one.
-Engineer, need a buff for their group play.
-Mesmer in group playBalanced classes?
-Engineer, really strong when well played. Only in small scale tho
-Warriors, in a good position for solo as group fights
-Guardians for group fights
-Mesmer for solo fights
-Thiefs for solo, small scaleThat is a small overview over the balance in WvW at the moment
Warriors are not the least bit balanced. Are you kidding me? They’re stupidly overpowered now. You should see the vids me and my guild made using our warriors. we can /sleep in arrow cart and cannon fire with 10+ people beating on us and not die or even drop below half health. You’re a fool if you think warrior isn’t ridiculously overpowered now and in need of severe nerfs. no other class is capable of doing anywhere near what warrior can do. And you’re wrong about armor being meaningless. it does help me anyway. I barely any damage from even the burstiest builds.
