Haha
, well I do not think your match up is what is of the best type. Referring to
BP, IoJ, CD and FG, DH, SF match ups. Those were the first 2 posted in this topic.
Firstly I’ll say, I do not play in US, I have though. I do not play in Gold or Bronze league, I play silver league EU.I am reffering to the first 3 links in the topic:
http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/map/1039
http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/map/1040
http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/map/1035
I just found funny how the bronze ones were linked as how the matches should be. When the objective spread tells about very passive and boring gameplay. Gold league match up objective spread tells about the actual healthy gameplay from objective point of view. How the objective spread is in these match up is very common for low tier match up. It is exactly same in lowest league of EU aswell, where I have played. As I am watching the maps for these 2 match ups I see noone having objectives on enemies borderland, and noone has anything from the enemy in EB either.
This is very common in the lower tiers where they have people just for 1 border and EB. They stack their own border and make sure they have everything in there, and all 3 servers do the same. Result: everyone ticking 1 full home border and their own side of EB, equal points, rarely venturing to raid the enemy lands. And this happens for majority of the ticks, obviously there are other caps here and there, but this is the equiblirium fluctuated around-
These 2 match-ups just perfect examples of this. Then as I compare it to the third post, which seems to be the highest match-up,
JQvBGvSoR I see totally different objective spread. Every server has multiple objectives on every map, fluctuating around the standard: every server has their own in every borderland and EB, like briar/refuge/bay.So there are 2 ways for equal match up from the scores here. The lowest league one:
- all servers stack max players for their home border and cap it to the full with little opposition. Once this is capped they think about moving to another border. The standard situation is: all 3 servers have home border fully capped and own side in EB.
The highest league one:
- All servers have a presence in all maps. Everyone tries to hold their own corner of the borderland while poking forward from there. Resulting in more fighting against opponents instead of just holding homeborder against nothing and having such overwhelming force in homeborder + siege preparation.I do not think anyone can say the lowest tier equibilirium is the healthy one here.
And NO I am not talking about blobbing, zerging, gvg, necromancers, warriors, permastealth thieves, arrow carts. I am talking about the general PPT metagame that is obviously shown in these 2 very different styles.
You can guess all you want without actually playing in one of these matches your guesses mean nothing. SF/DH/FC has been anything but boring and passive and it has been healthy match up. You just wasted a nice amount of time talking about something you know nothing about. We have constantly traded assets in EB and BL if you we’re watching that during NA time you would see that.

E.g.
Players: “we’d like more balanced matches and balancing mechanics, so we have more fun”
Anet: “We want les balanced matches, and snowball blowout mechanics so we get more transfer gems”
My expectations are so low they’re next to dinosaur bones.
Therefore you have to ask yourself: Is this a journey you want to take? Are you comfortable with expecting the unexpected, and ultimately working together in a positive and productive manner through thick and thin, to pioneer in a space that the team at ArenaNet feel is of huge importance? Many of you are not only comfortable with this paradigm but embrace it, and your contribution, as you know has already shaped Tyria immensely, for which we are extremely grateful and excited about.
I’m game to participate in the journey. What is the best way to get on board? I know I’ve participated in a few discussions on theses forums about a particular idea where a member of the development team participated in the discussion and we tossed some ideas back and forth and it was a very constructive discussion. That one was about the idea of a dynamic respawn algorithm to help avoid a commonly complained about issue of mobs respawning while you’re fighting a vet or champ when no other players have come into the immediate area.
While discussions like that are valuable and demonstrate how the dev team and the player community can have valuable discussion, I’ve also seen many other issues that apparently are ignored. I’m sure they aren’t being really ignored, but the silence gives that impression. An example of that might be the dozens and dozens of threads in the Ranger forum about the need for multiple improvements in the Pet mechanic. Maybe there have been constructive dev interactions on the forums about ways to improve Pets, but if there are I apologize I’ve overlooked them.
Anyway, count me in on the journey. I just want to make sure we’re participating in ways that you find valuable.
Actually I think ANET for the most part does listen when it comes to PvE. The problem is that the PvP team is stubborn and won’t increase game modes (hello team deathmatch) and the WvW team is completely out of touch. The WvW team in particular is a problem.
I’m never going to forget that there was probably a Scope’s Broke thread per month on the Engineer boards before the 285-day mark, where somebody posted about it in the sPvP boards. A month or two later, the thing’s been replaced with something functional.
You want us to think you’re paying attention, actually do so.
Also, I can’t help but recall seeing a blog post by a particular member of the staff wherein they claim to have been pulled aside by management for setting a standard of communication that they didn’t feel other departments should feel the need to meet.
Presumably they were talking to us when they didn’t have breadcrumbs to throw.
Words, words, words. We’ve heard a lot of them, but only a change in action will matter. Many of the words you’ve said before are in complete disagreement with what you do.
So no, many players don’t feel like this is a “journey” they want to be a part of.
It also sounds like it was written by marketing. “Be sure to drop ground breaking in there at least twice!”
And Dignity was restored to the Sons of Svanir!
I’m with you, it’s going to be a nerf.
I always hope for the best, then get a slap in the face with a wet kipper !
I have my popcorn ready either way cuz I know it’ll be entertaining. I’ll just avoid salting it in case my own tears end up in it.

You will absolutely see a way to create a precursor available in the future. As detailed in our plans for the second half of the year here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
As mentioned at the end of the blog, as always things are subject to change as test and prepare various systems. Most of the stuff covered in the blog you’ve already seen implemented, or steps towards being implemented, however the precursor building (and corresponding additional legendary items) is the one highest at risk to not make it this year.
It is still something we absolutely plan to do!
So we’re seeing “replace a dungeon path with a somewhat buggy one, Add lore-breaking stories to the game, E-SPORTZZ and create 2-minute Content™”
Instead of
“focus on what the playerbase actually wants and has been asking for”Angry forumposters =! playerbase
Agreed, usually the player base silently just quits. The angry ones on the forums are the one with hope.

While I appreciate this idea of “collaboration” between the team and the community, I won’t believe it until I see it… And the track record is not proving positive.
(edited by Mimir.4690)
So WvW already being imbalanced is a good reason for not needing to get 10% more stats when they are available how?
WvW isn’t imbalanced because of stats, nor will an increase in stats favour a specific server so …
I saw a warrior last night on IOJ that confused the hell out of me.
“she” (probably not IRL gender) was completely immune to all of the following, all of the time:
- Cripple SPAM
- knockback
- burning (litterally stood in my fire trap, never caught fire)
- Immobs
- any physical damage (just out-regened it!) … poison didn’t seem to debuff this btw.
…3 of us all tried to focus her, she just teleported away with that sword whirl faster than any FGS Ele I’ve ever seen before. …. like if this game had 50% faster movement speed?? Well she had like 100% … that’s how fast her disengage was and I’m on double sword roaming ranger which even Ele and Thieves have trouble disengaging from. ….My guild leader just said ignore her. “She’s trolling us”.
I don’t understand this and I need someone to explain it to me. …Just like a month ago everyone was whining that Warrior was the weakest crap there was in PvP’ing. There was a survey where they were dead last. ….someone explain how all those things are allowed, b/c yes, I’ve heard people say that warriors can build to shrug off pretty much everything
ehhh the great sword just needs to get the ride the lighting treatment, don’t hit someone with it you get a really long cool down (either that or anet needs to not be hypocrites and un Nerf d/d ele movement).
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
Here’s an idea folks. Maybe if we ask questions with some measure of civility instead of just trying to bash him about our complaints , we MIGHT get some answers?
And maybe, just maybe if we aren’t openly hostile all the time he might continue posting in this forum with the regularity that he used to?
C’mon people. This is an opportunity. Don’t blow it.
Here are the answers.
Please deal with Server pop?
We know server pop is a issue we are thinking about some ideas. When we have something concrete we will let people know.
Are you open to taking out Orbs?
Our metrics indicate that orbs are a great mechanic and people love fighting for orbs and it adds a fun aspect to wvw. Orbs are staying.
WvW rewards?
Leagues will increase rewards in wvw with new achievements. Rewards will be tied to whichever server you start the season with.
Season 1 please stop leagues.
We are open to suggestions and feedback during season 1 and will adjust season 2 if needed. We need season 1 to give us data.
This class is op that class is op.
We are balancing classes in the upcoming match and wvw is a priority for us.
Orbs have ruined GvG and open field fighting, do you agree?
GvG did violate my game mode so I violated the game mode back. Now we are even.

Sneak Peak:
The vision for WvW is:
1. More siege – moooaar
2. Less balanced fights – More orbs!
3. Less balanced match ups – Welcome to leagues!
4. Server stacking – More gems!
I’m just gonna chime in here randomly and say I’m jelly of your matchup
\(Q___Q)_/
I never knew BP and CD were this bad! more like Bad Players and Crystal Deserters;
All you do is suck and run away when there is equal numbers, but when theres a 5v2 you are more than welcome to chase.
I’ve beaten every player so far in a 1v1, and I hope to see alot more at fight club.
What do you look like, so we can headhunt your whiny kitten ?
Also, please shut up with the generalizing. Thanks!

The matchup engine glitched. That’s why this match is so great.
being from CD our match up is the best i’ve had since i started playing in april. Tonight while I was on we were battling to keep smc so the we could get the fortified walls. It came down to literally one more dolyak that we needed. Then BP decided to go for SMC and got through inner. We were able to hold them off and get our one dolyak for the upgrade. It was edge of your seat stuff there for a while. An awesome match up.

I think everyone deserves an official response on this. It was said by a developer that it would happen by the end of this year but I don’t think there was ever an official statement on it.
I need to know this information because I need to know if I should continue to play the game or not in the hopes that I can actually get a precursor. I have 500g right now and I’m still continuing to grind but even if I get the 800g that is required to buy dusk off the TP I’m not going to spend that much gold for a precursor.
Some people might wonder why I wouldn’t spend that much gold on a precursor even if I had that much, so I’ll give you that answer. A precursor is random dumb luck RNG. There is no skill or effort involved in attaining one whatsoever other than putting a couple rares in the mystic forge and getting lucky by pushing a button. I don’t believe its worth putting 2 solid months of tedious grinding effort into something that is based on random dumb luck. I just don’t agree with that, I don’t think its worth it, which is why I want to know if I am wasting my time playing the game or not because if we end up not being able to craft a precursor by the end of this year it makes any effort I continue to put forth in the game a wasted effort
I consider myself a hardcore gamer, as a hardcore gamer I need some sort of goal in any game I’m playing and I made that goal for myself twilight. I’ve already put around 400g into the mystic forge and didn’t get a precursor so you’ll understand why I’m a bit bitter about the whole thing when there’s other people running around with two legendary’s because they didn’t have to spend 800g for a precursor.
Is precursor crafting coming or not. We all deserve a straight answer. Yes or no, that’s all I need. I would be willing to spend 300g in order to craft it but yeah 800g off the TP is asking way too much.
Please answer yes or no.

I’m pretty easy going with who i do content with. I don’t really care for loot, what i’m after is messing around with others but of course i generally go for full damage. Its obvious zerker is objectively better.
The superiority of zerker gear is a problem for PvE build diversity but it has nothing to do with zerker gear its to do with the predictable nature of the AI. That is what needs fixing.
Also, is it just me, or is the war/guard/ele/thief/ranger setup being ‘best DPS’ mirrors what setup Destiny’s Edge have?
They actually lack a Guardian because Logan always runs away :P
Give the pets “ascended hate”. :P It worked for buffs.
Anyway, at some point they will just have to buff the pets to keep up, this makes sense. They could just give all the non-ascended gear a bonus against pets to even it out.
