Golems unusable - Travel Runes don't work

I posted about this in the wrong forum section (twice accidentally), pointed this fact out and thought a mod would move the post, which they didn’t.
Anyway, I found this change to make speed-runes not affect golems to be a slap in my face for several reasons.

Firstly, there are many problems and bugs which people complain about since HoT, many of those issues seem rather urgent and important to me. Not only are speedy Golems a pre-HoT thing, but I can’t really recall an outrage about imba speed-runes and Golems on the forums ever. Once more Anets priorities are quite far from what is important to players.

Secondly, I wouldn’t even care if this change had happened on Alpine Borderlands. But on Desert Border I have to bloody flag on to get 3 people on me to build a ram (because 9 out of 10 of my mates refuse to play on that map) AND I have to build golems because else Ill whack t3 gates all day long. On top of that I am condemned to limp across this huge wasteland with true golem speed, which borders to torture.

Thirdly, when there’s one to three players on the map taking t3 stuff even with ram(s) plus golem(s) the seemingly randomly respawning mobs wear the golems down quite a bit during the hours and hours and hours of exciting pvd. Right now I can go through ten Alphas per day.

Fourthly, not golem related but I have to say this too: Whoever came up with those mobs and bosses in the new maps should be grrrr scolded very harshly. Not only do they mess up my golems, but also every single one of them is simply annoying. Block-block-block, interrupt-interrupt-interrupt, blink-blink-blink, push-push-push and so forth. I mean with a zerg you won’t even notice it but when youre 1-3 ppl it only gets tedious. It’s like swimming through liquid cheeese against a extremely strong current while being very, very sleepy.

Now people keep asking me, thuggy why oh why do you do this anyway? Well, simply because there is nothing else to do! I could be bored in pve, in spawn or wrecking golems, the latter just got blessed by Anets attention and thus comes very kitten close to the stand-in-spawn- wvw excitement. Thank you so very, very much guys.

Is Anet taking note of what is happening to their own game? It’s impossible to find a fight on a Friday night in the most populated servers. Other tiers beside Tier 1 are just completely empty, but Tier 1 is impossible to join. A friend of mine just transferred to T2 from T3 to realize that the game is dead here too and was so dissapointed. People are just leaving the game because the simple improvements that would make WvW good are apparently never coming (and no I’m not talking about new WvW rank masteries; I’m talking about scoring system, new overflow system, removal of identical maps and population merges).

If you are not doing something soon to attract people to the new Borderland maps (rewards, massive server merge, PPT improvement, PPK system, waypoints, etc) you’re just going to lose the few people that are left.

Again, I’ve said this over a year ago: It’s a shame to see the wasted potential of WvW. It could easily beat the multiplayer gamemodes of any game currently available with just a little bit of care from the developers.
I’m saddened to see my friends leaving the game so soon after an expansion, and that there is nobody in charge of WvW at Anet willing to make it a truly rewarding and intense experience. Many GvG guilds have already disbanded.

I hope you have something planned for soon because I don’t think the WvW/GvG community will wait another year.

Playing against BB and SFR is not any better I can tell you. Roaming is completely dead. All that’s left is ganking squads and blobs, the borders are completely deserted.

I ran into another person from my server yesterday after 15 minutes of walking around on a border because EB queue was up. He told me i was the first person he saw after 20 minutes….

The borderland maps are just some dev’s wet dream that he realized, not thinking for one second that the map is too freakin big.

HoT killed GW2 for me.

2. exclusions from fights from other guilds; I thought WvW was a server vs server battle. so why do some guilds feel they have a right to tell people who they can and can not fight? (due to schedule guild vs guild battles)it just breaks the immersion when you are going round fighting and cap bases when people are using map chat to tell you “dont attack this guild as they are fighting that guild” i should not have to tip toe across the battle field, also the fact that there are a group of players taking no part in the WvW battle makes it pointless. there needs to be a separate server where guilds can have schedued battles.

There are some “unofficial rules of warfare” that come into play here.

It doesnt really matter if its a 1v1, 5v5, GvG or ZvZ. Yes you can choose to ignore it and jump in foaming at the mouth of course. That’s on you and might earn you alot of disrespect.

That said, sometimes it really goes to extremes and tbh… there have been moments where I have been fully behind the choice of my pug zerg commander to rush headlong into a GvG. For example when 2 enemy servers do “organized” GvG in your home border (or shall I say did, now you are lucky if you even find enemies). They choose to do that on enemy territory, they deal with the consequences if an attack happens.

This mostly apply to borders, EB is the place where everything goes. Its pretty commonly acknowledged to be an open battleground with no rules as few guilds do dedicated raids there (most of the time because you cant, too packed during primetime).

Ultimately, its a game. There’s really no need to kill everything in sight. We’d like to see ourselves as brave knights rather than remorseless soldiers. Fight with honor and rescue the Quaggan damsel in distress and all that.

OK after playing a bunch of new version i can safely say that if Anet does not do something it will have a dead game on its hands.

Yes the homeland maps are terrible and nobody was asking for them.
Yes the homeland maps are too big.
Yes there are a bunch of new bugs…some very game breaking such as hitting through walls.
Yes there was almost nothing added that was asked for and a bunch of stuff that was not.
Yes not one thing done to fix the zerg problem.
Yes the attacker still has the advantage when taking castles as you can’t get away as the AOE’s that cover the wall.

All of that pales in comparison with the “pay to win” aspect of the expansion.
The problem is that every single character class that is available in the expansion is more powerful than the plain vanilla one. This is quite evident once you play for a bit.

Even worse than the power imbalance and pay to win however is the complete lack of game play balance. There are no counters to many of the skills. For example if you are not a class that has stability access, the castable circular trap that lasts several seconds is ridiculously OP. Consider that you made traps on the trapper runes not AOE targettable. The traps just did damage and applied a condition. This thing traps you in the small circle and you are dead in zergville.

The game is truly moving into the “terrible game” region of rankings as the game on day one is vastly better than today.

Judging by the nearly 100% gripe posts in this area I am not alone in this opinion.
If you are brave make a poll in the WvW area that asks “How would you rate the expansion ona scale of 1 to 10?”. This isn’t a troll but an honest opinion about how bad the game has gotten.

Instead of waypoints being a useless annoyance, they are now still a useless annoyance and give a huge advantage to enemies on your home border, while defenders get exactly nothing.

Thats the very first thing I thought when entering BL after patch.

Just to understand the logic:

  • each keep has waypoint that is automatically activated once server captures the keep
  • but in each keep only one of 3 servers can actually use the waypoint
  • other 2 servers can capture the keep but they will never get access to the waypoint
  • the waypoint you CAN use is closest to the point you enter the map making it mostly useless

Why? Why you need system so confusing and complicated?

Why not instead use something clear and simple:

  • every keep gets waypoint once it reaches tier 3

It’ s disrespectful towards all wvw players that invested both time and money into the game since launch not showing even the slightest interest . WvW as it is now is a major fail and it doesn’t matter what ever the reason for it is. Just admit that is’t all a major failure, give us the old homeborders back and scrap the desert maps completely.

I lag and crash for a lot of reason, but never because/around the oasis event. Is this possibly an issue with the EU servers?

It could be me in NA playing EU, but aside from an issue two years ago, I haven’t really had lag issues. The map itself is fine when the event happens, but if I go fight and there’s more than 30 people, I lag, freeze, then crash. And it seems t only happen when the event launches, so I just avoid fights. But never had that problem prior, so I can only assume the two are connected.

It takes a lot of energy to power up that laser. EB has blackouts when it fires.

I think it’s unfair that the defense is so automated but attacking isn’t.
They should bring back siegerazor and have him roam the map attacking 1 structure at a time.
As soon as you WP onto a map you are immediately teleported to siegerazors location, you auto follow him unless you manually move from his location, and he now spawns minion npc’s to build and man the siege that he spawns at each tower.
If no one logs on to trigger siegerazor he’ll just move out on his own with his little minions to attack things.

Sounds like a solution that anet can get behind to solve the population problem doesn’kitten Most people find it expensive and boring to tag up and take structures so let’s make it easier on everyone by making it automated.

They have a moderate unlock cost. That unlocks the schematic that a scribe must then build and put in line for construction.

The scribe portion requires a lot of Flax Fibers that basically make them cost so much that no one that has any are using them.

If you claim an objective (regardless of how long your side has owned it) you must wait 10 minutes for lvl 1, 30 minutes for lvl 2 and 1 hour for a level 3 tactic/upgrade.

If someone in your guild then moves your claim or the location is flipped, then there went that very expensive tactic or upgrade.

basically not worth it at the moment.

Only the lower level ones are even able to be made since scribe is stuck at 150.

Why would I give useful info ? Useful info has been plastered all over the WvW forums some of which I have given. The thread topic is a question, I answered that question, providing any meaningful info at this point is moot, they will do whatever they want to do without regard of what the players are asking for or warning against. They proved this when they let none WvW players test the map because they were streamers over the people who could have actually given proper feedback on our behalf. But ya let’s let Doc Got Game and his casual minions who spend most of their time playing other games or PvE’ing test the WvW map because that will surely help provide real feedback.

I cannot speak to the others you personally attack but, I am a primary WvWer, and not a streamer. My guild only has 2 who stream, they do it for fun. 60 of us tested the map.

You are speaking about things that you know absolutely nothing about.

When you refuse to offer productive feedback, even when asked, all that suggest to me is that you do not honestly care about the game, it’s, state, or possibly improving it.

Re-read what I post, you and your friends were not the only ones there and judging by your posts in the past I have a hard time finding you would have given any productive feedback.

What does arenas and GvG have to do with WvW, see Chaba’s response. Lastly once again the topic is a question, the question was answered. If you don’t like my answer that is your prerogative but try to realize not everyone has a carbon copy answer that you will agree with which means all answers or opinions are valid.

Trying to cover that up and make it seem like everything is fine when one person posts a video of a 5 man ‘raid’ in a BL just reeks of desperation.

Maybe your post is sarcasm. Hard to tell.

I participated in the betas, as did many of my guildies and many of the people in T1. If you go back and read the feedback, almost everyone predicted exactly what’s happening. Look at my post history; you will see. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a big guild or not, because big guilds don’t raid 24/7. We set up havocs during the afternoon or during off raid days.

This stuff isn’t rocket science, and all one needs to do is look at what the incentives are and you can see where people will go. The incentives were there in beta, but the devs didn’t listen. Well, sort of. Some do. We were there to test what they already made. The current system incentives fighting. This is something we all want, and asked for. However, that’s not what WvW is all about. It is more than just about fighting. After all, they gave us an arena in the OS and guild halls. If you just want to just fight, go there and GvG. WvW is about fighting AND objectives. Otherwise, why even have a score?

I think everyone agrees that the no gold cost and auto-path of the upgrades is a great thing that got rid of trolls. Having supply not tied to upgrades is also a good thing, and helped with troll situations. So take these 2 aspects and get rid of the bad: auto upgrades. Make yaks important again. If yaks don’t get in, structures don’t upgrade. That will make yaks and camps important again.

There are all kinds of issues that were predicted, some things, we were flat out lied to about, like with guild halls, but that’s just one example.

Blackgate Native. It takes tremendous strength and skill to pull a lever.

Most of what I used to do, and have fun with in WvW is irrelevant now. I could completely change how I play, but I didn’t do that in 3+ years coz other playstyles bore me. So I’m done. Had some great times tho.

I used to play wvw a lot, nowadays I only do my dailies – sometimes I don’t even bother with that.

In retrospect it’s really obvious how all of the changes hurt wvw. Small-scale roaming/havoc is a lot less effective because of the loss of +5, the higher supply costs of guild catas/acs, the auto-upgrades and the new map with the long distances between objects. Guilds have to grind pve to get their guild hall upgraded and their buffs back. Players have to gain their elite specs. So that leaves wvw with empty maps, which means that even the players who aren’t busy grinding somewhere else don’t have much of an incentive to play wvw.

As others have suggested, one thing they could do is to remove auto-upgrades. Make upgrades free but have them need player interaction to start. That would at least make it a little easier for smaller groups to take objectives as they won’t always be encountering fully upgraded objectives.

Another thing anet needs to look at asap are the guild upgrades. First of all, the costs of upgrades need to be scaled to the roster size of guilds, so that smaller guilds have a chance to obtain their upgrades, too. Make smaller guild halls for smaller guilds if you want to appease the bigger guilds – we don’t need huge halls, anyway, and some of us might even prefer smaller halls.

Being able to start building a war room shouldn’t be dependent on having other upgrades – wvw guilds shouldn’t be forced to play pve in order to get their upgrades. This also means that the materials used for upgrading the war room should be materials that you can get from playing wvw.

Proofs of heroics should go in the wallet and be accessible for all characters without having to use the bank workaround. We should be able to play wvw on our main characters and still be able to get hero points for alts.

As for the new map – well, the easiest thing would be to retire it and bring the old borderland map back, even if it means that a lot of work hours were wasted. I just don’t understand why anet made a map with EotM mechanics when most wvw players said that they don’t like EotM. I guess you could rework the map into a new EotM map and rotate it with the old one? If you insist on keeping it as the borderlands map, at least get rid of the shrines and the oasis event.

I´ve quit WvW and am about quitting the game in whole. Anet has killed WvW.
I used to play WvW on a daily basis but since the new maps and modus are out this has changed. I can´t believe that Anet did not know what they are doing. So the conclusion is that they did this with full intention.
I regret deeply buying the ultimate version of HoT. The game turned with HoT for me into grinding. And I hate grinder.

Trying to cover that up and make it seem like everything is fine when one person posts a video of a 5 man ‘raid’ in a BL just reeks of desperation.
