HoT Purchased-Yea Baby

Purchased the Ultimate for my Wife and Myself, cant wait for more BETA time, release date etc.

Anet has always delivered in the 10 years we have been playing, all the Christmas cards, extras in emails and more. To us, we purchased two HoT expansions and 8k in gems and received 2 more character slots, mini’s, guild décor and some- for several more months of new content of play time, well worth it. We did participate in the last BETA, had a blast trying to figure out the glider and love it.

Take advantage of the offer, you asked for it, Anet delivered it, may not be around later.

"Don't Pre-Purchase HoT" ~ $100,000 Loss

Hot is Expensive? in what world?…

£34 ($50) for the expansion, with 0 sub model and 0 required investment after its release.

that is $25 Dollars a Year or £17 a Year.

thats like Under £2 ($4) a Month which is HALF the price of any other f2p to play with everything (as subs > f2p in other models) and half the price of any P2P MMO which sell their expansions at the exact same price.

therefore, NO GW2 HoT is cheap as hell.

Sorry ANET

When I heard that you guys finally released the Pre-Purchase for the game, my wife and I rushed to your website to purchase the Heart of Thorns expansion. We don’t care that you chose to give the game free to new players because we’ve spent three years loving your master crafted game. The amount of dedication poured into the making of this MMO is apparent. The quality of life in this MMO greatly surpasses your competition and we have been avid fans of this franchise ever since we discovered it during your pre-release of GW2.

It’s disheartening to us to see that other veteran players are blowing up the forums because they want free stuff. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to put so much effort into making a game and when you finally release the pre-purchase for its expansion that the player base would be so negative and calling you guys “soulless corporate husks” for just trying to market this game.

My point is, I’m super hyped for this expansion, and I’m sorry that rather than hearing from your players about how excited they are as well, you’re getting ragers angry that they didn’t get free stuff.

I literally get less for my money as an existing player than a new player would get for the same money. how is that not discriminating?

if I could get both, then it wouldn’t be. but I don’t. I only get the Expansion, while a new player gets both.

It’s because you already have the game and the version of the game you have is now obsolete. You have played it and enjoyed it (probably) for months if not years. Do you freak out about consignment stores? Consoles bundled with free games? Paperbacks? Movie series that are packaged together for less than it would cost to buy each one separately? If you bought the game at launch, you were an early adopter and early adopters almost always pay more for the privilege of having the thing first (“early adopter tax”).

Seriously- I totally get not wanting to pre-purchase until Anet gives us more information, and the lack of character slot is shady, but I’m starting to wonder if there’s a huge population of people who have never participated in capitalism before. Stuff like this is literally an every day occurrence.

Hey Anet,

With all the negative rage going on around the net and game, I wanted to take time out and say, Thank you. Colin was so excited to show/tell us all the hard work you all did on the Guild Halls and announce the pre-order last night. When I opened the page to see the cost, I knew right away I’d buy the $100 bundle as it’s worth it to me. I know there’s a lot of rage/negative feedback right now and that’s understandable but do know, there are people out there like me who will buy the expansion (and have already) with no problem.

Thanks for all your hard work and I can’t wait to play HoT!

Veteran players have gotten almost three years of game time and free updates that new players will never have/experience (unless they pay for the Living Story stuff). If you think all that is worthless, then I’m not sure why you care about HoT in the first place.

That isn’t very appealing concept art (at least to me). Might be the shade of green they chose…

Still hyped about guild halls though….

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Hey everyone, over the past few weeks I have been updating the weapon galleries at gw2-fashion.com, a specialized site to showcase weapon/armor skins available in GW2. I have finished up about 9 weapon types so far and would like to share these for players interested in looking for them. Most of the weapons are taken with ingame screenshots so you have a good idea of what they actually look like ingame as opposed to the preview window.

Two-Handed

One-Handed

Offhand

To be completed

  • Scepter
  • Warhorn
  • Torch

For those that are familiar with my old weapon galleries at dulfy.net, they are no longe being updated since this new site is easier to update and view

I mainly play male sylvari, in part because the voice and lines amuse me rather than annoying me.. Same with those overdone jump sounds.

I have never rolled female human or female sylvari specifically due to “I can outrun a centaur!” and “this rose has thorns!” I just can’t do it. And I have a female norn. I just.. can’t.

Necro Specialization Name Is Awful...

Reaper. Oh, I get it: they have the new focus on melee and scythe abilities.
Of course the name had to have something to do with the whole “death” and “grim reaper” theme. I was expecting a much more high concept name than taking the easy way out like Chronomancer did. Oh, you’re a Chronomancer? Let me guess, it gives you new time-based abilities. Way too simplistic.

That’s why I suggest the Reaper specialization be renamed to the Shoutyeller. I feel that the name “Shoutyeller” is much more high concept in regards to the theme of the new specialization. I went with this name because I felt it was evocative of the 1957 Disney Classic, Old Yeller.

Necromancers embody the very essence of death. Just as death is inevitable for the Necromancer’s enemies, so too was it for the rabies infected Old Yeller. The origin of the Shoutyeller is a more subtle nuanced version of this. Necromancers aim to deliver a chilling death to their enemies, and the Shoutyeller faction believes yelling at them is the way to accomplish this. I understand this is a bit more high concept than the name Reaper, but I feel like Shoutyeller conveys a much more mature theme, like the Dragonhunter.

Yeah, you are most likely violating a lot of copyright laws and such with this.

You should seriously review this before you find yourself in a whole lot of trouble:

With no grind, they mean no mandatory grind. There is no gear threadmill.
You don’t have to grind in order to keep up. All the grind in this game is just for cosmetics. Sure there is ascended, but that’s only like 5% better than exotic so you don’t really need it.

You’re assuming human military, it’s ridiculous to assume the standard would carry over to a different society made up by a species with a different anatomy.

IMO the current charr hunched-over stance looks good and is fitting to a species that runs around on all four. Especially given their proportions, with the shoulders and chest usually fairly broad compared to the hindquarters.

I have come up with a solution to fix your woes!

Since your character is always in the center of the screen, take a blue dry-erase marker and shade in an aura around him. Then, regardless of what weapons you have equipped, you will always have a blue aura! If you’re feeling daring, you can even buy a pack of dry-erase markers and have a different color aura every day. Or a rainbow aura!

By Dwayna, I’m brilliant….
