That is so typical. Yeah it happens all the time. And lets not forget that clicking to target is even worse. You can click directly on bosses that fill most of your screen, and the game selects random nearby trash mobs.

I was at the Godslost Swamp. 3 Putrid Skelk (red mobs) in front of me, some Fireflies (yellow mobs) around. You know what happens? The “Target System” picked a Sparkflie (ambient creature) -_-

its even worse in wvw. it either targets an engi turret or even a critter. i was attacking thief, hea stealthed, i lost target, when he reappeared he was right in fron of me and my sgs hit the chicken that was way further away. since this patch i’ve noticed that the teargeting prioritizes critters, turrets, minions and non hostile creatures before anything. very annoying! it is supposed to be the other way around like it was stated a few patches ago.

Here’s another from my Warrior. I was doing a PS mission and got attacked by 3 spiders, I pressed 1 to attack one of the remaining two (circled in red) beside me after I killed the first and look what I target (circled in white). Even if I was ranged I don’t think I could’ve hit that. Luckily the spiders were close so I kept auto attacking but that’s not really the point.

As we were discussing, the targeting often prioritizes yellow/neutral mobs over something as big as the Claw of Jormag. It will often pick targets that are further away than what you are directly looking at. See below, the issue with the dreaded White Moa getting a higher priority than the Claw.

The bad targeting has been a plague upon the game’s combat system since launch. A fix is really over due. You can’t expect this game to ever become some sort of an esport, as long as players are losing matches because bad targeting drew some kind of ambient mob into a fight, instead of hitting their opponent.

Many months ago I also posted about something that happened to me in WvW. I was fighting a warrior, and doing quite well. I didn’t have time to fiddle with the targeting, so I just aim the camera directly at him and activate my Flesh Golem charge. The Flesh Golem charges right into some random raptor instead of the warrior. So now I’m fighting a warrior AND a raptor. So I manage to kill the raptor, but fighting two at once has taken quite a bit of health from me. The warrior runs off at some point, and I quickly aim the camera at him again, and activate the charge. The Flesh Golem races after him, right into another raptor next to him, and the warrior + raptor proceed to beat me to a pulp.

Also fun bugs like the CoF path 2 boss (the big flaming rock thing) which simply cannot be targeted at all if you are in melee range, unless there’s a called target on the boss…

You have to remember to target the boss before you run up to it, because you certainly can’t target it afterwards.

Brisban Wildlands – Dual Axe Warrior.

I opened one of the Wintersday presents and Skritt popped out, I killed 3 and of the two left, one was standing slightly out of melee to my left (I was almost facing it) and the other was pretty far to my right, off camera and couldn’t see it. I hit throw axe assuming the appropriate target would be the only skritt on my screen. Alas I was mistaken and I chucked my axe at the one offscreen. Couldn’t get a screenshot.

Everywhere – Dual Pistol Thief

Obstructed targets or out of range enemies are chosen as appropriate targets except when in fights where it’ll be yellow named targets that become priority.

3 problems with this rubbish achievement.

1# The achievement has 2 stages – You have people who need to kill the worm for the 1st part of the achievement and then the people who need the jumping part of the achievement.

2# The targeting system the worm has is complete rubbish if there are lots of people at the event.

3# The event timer is to long for something that involves so much luck.

Not very happy about this achievement at all, I’ve done this event over 40 times now and only have 4/5. If the developers that developed this event wanted to have people raging at each other, well great you guys did a fantastic job, because all I see in map and local chat is players shouting and abusing each other, this can only be put down to the frustration of having to repeat something over and over again.

SERIUOSLY, think about the events you make and there affect on the community.

I can’t agree enough.
This achievement, exclusively, is responsible for some of the worst flaming I’ve ever seen in my years of online gaming. The design of the achievement makes it so that different players have contradictory goals, making it possible for the selfish, unaware, or impatient to utterly ruin other’s peoples moods. And they do so, frequently. The only recourse others have is to explain or otherwise get angry with these people.

And then, even when everything is set up perfectly, with people cooperatively stacking in an attempt to organize shockwaves to fire at as many as people possible – people are not getting achievement credit, and they don’t know why. Googling the issue is ineffective, as you get contradictory information about how the achievement works, so we’re left guessing and in the mean time, feel like we’re being rewarded or punished arbitrarily for jumping, whilst hoping other people don’t spoil our ‘hard’ work in jumping in place by trying to do an achievement of their own.

This is incredibly frustrating and dissatisfying.

In support of the OP: I don’t know if it’s bugged or not, but it seems unpredictable. At best, it’s just incredibly tedious to try to get the achievement. It does not seem to be working as designed.

As a work-around for others: We don’t need to complete this achievement to max out the meta: there are several weeks of Wintersday and we just need to do a few dailies to make up for it.

General note: the spider queen and worm achievement create a terrible atmosphere among the player base:

  • Everyone wanting to kill the event targets (for various achievements) wants to kill them fast and move onto something else.
  • Everyone wanting to get the non-target achievements (clearing cocoons and jumping waves) wants to avoid killing the targets for as long as possible. The queen is, at least, typically a champion. But the wurm seems to end up being a veteran who doesn’t survive long.

People are already starting to make snide remarks at each other. (In contrast, the artificer event separates into two events: the destruction of toxifiers from the killing of the champion. This seems to work better for everyone.)

I have the answer to your problems people. It’s based on whether or not you yourself are targeted when you’re jumping. For example, if there are 6 people in an AoE, you must be one of those 5 targeted when you jump for it to count. That’s what the problem is for this achievement. And with the large amount of people doing this, it’s at least a 1 in 50 chance of you getting credit.

Except the ‘workaround’ does nothing for the ‘popping sound’ bug. I know, I moved mine when it was first suggested long ago. What’s worse is that this bug migrated from GW2 to other applications after a period of time. I wish they could find what causes it, and fix it. =(

It really isn’t funny. People on my server make it a point to flat out troll and laugh at the low level characters that try to scramble to get hits on the champs before they’re dead. It’s pathetic.

This Queensdale champion loot train needs to stop. Since the update, level 80s flock Queensdale all day and night and own the events in less than 20 seconds. It’s making it extremely difficult to level up in these zones when none of the events are doable because level 80s steam roll them before you can even get there.

I’ve been called a troll all night for requesting the level 80s to go somewhere more appropriate for them since I can’t go anywhere. “Go to other starter zones to level!” “Go to another zone!” “Craft!”

So because I’m leveling human characters all of which are under level 10, I now can’t do any of the Queensdale events because Anet has made them so appealing for level 80s to farm.

The people calling me a troll tell me that they log on and kill the champions all day – that’s all they do. Because it’s more profitable and easier than doing stuff like Orr or Frostgorge event farming.

So why does Orr keep getting nerfed but places like Queensdale have champions spawning every 3 minutes? Why do level 80 zones feel the need to populate ONLY QUEENSDALE (none of the other starters have this many convenient and this number of champions)??

Something needs to be done to motivate players to populate more maps in the game world – not just have everyone flock to Queensdale 24/7 to farm champions. Usually I’m doing dungeons or fractals with the guild to notice this but even at launch it wasn’t this bad.

Please tell me there’s a better way.

I happen to agree but with an even stronger caveat.

Lower level players ARE getting locked out of kills, but so are WEAKER characters – the stronger characters do “more damage” so get the “kill” and the “loot” while MANY are locked out.

This is supposed to be FUN for ALL, but some are trolling in there, some are being extremely unkind (!) and others are out and out lying to “noobs” thinking it’s funny – it’s not.

They need to deliver what was promised. Make us feel like we’re that level once we’re down-scaled. I hate being able to 2 shot everything in starter zones at level 80 when a fresh made level 1 takes several attacks to destroy a mob its own level.

Yeah, this. There’s still dozens of champions in the game, maybe a hundred or more, and a lot of them are still being left unkilled right now. Getting people to scour the entire map of champions is a win-win, they get loot and the champions stop cluttering up the map and contesting waypoints for everyone else.

I have to agree with this suggestion. Either that, or Champions are also affected by DR, so while the first time might net you an Exotic bag, subsequent kills will only give you bags appropriate to their level.

I love how in GW they had “Hard Mode” for people who wanted to have a challenge even in low level areas.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if before logging in, you could choose whether you wanted to go to the “Hard Mode” server? Over there, “starter” areas like Queensdale would be as difficult as Orr. And you can only go there if you’re lvl 80. Of course the drops and loot are improved to cater to the greater difficulty.

I would love this. Would give me a whole new reason to play GW 2.

I Agree with OP. Lv 80 queensdale farmers, are idiot lazy guys. you can’t beat any other sort of bosses in open-world? You need to be always protected by large zergs? You are a sad, lazy, idiot guy.

Also, why This champ farm didn’t get veteran class? I mean.. is call they as champion, when most of those are really easy to beat?

Well, I’m hoping for at least a 100% mob-levelled loot.

Also, to finish, farmer queensdale 80’s are really stupid:
Wp cost prince inner queesndale : 1.3s~1.5s
Champions Need at least 15% participation to gain event participation, and at least 25 to gain the exotic container. (A lot of times you’ll don’t get it due the zergs).
Actual chances for levelled loot is 50%, what means that half of time you will get useless trash from containers.
Time spent on it, is at least 4x bigger than most of high-lv farms.

You’ll finish having a profit of 50s/hour + 1~2 lv +7k karma
And also, a low chance for the new exotics weapons of course.

Very fun way to play! , But no.

There were plenty of threads and concerns about this and it has happened, the community all knew about the queensdale zerg and voiced it; they were left completely ignored. Look what happened…

Anet should have made it so that any champion under lvl 30 would not drop a golden loot bag.

I’ve searched but couldn’t find this issue mentioned anywhere.

Since a couple of days I’ve been getting empty lines in my chat window, they only have a timestamp and no player name, channelname (m/s/t etc.) and no text.

It appears to be happening every couple of minutes at random intervals. I’ve tried logging on and off, changing areas and changing my chat settings but it didn’t help.

It’s pretty annoying since it happens so frequently that normal chat is often scrolled up too fast to read.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Part of what this forum does is let us players collaborate and corroborate. By omitting all detail from your posts here, you allow neither.

Some of the event chains are complex and have hidden dependencies (Balthazar is this way) In some instances, there’s a trick to clear a stuck state, or the event isn’t stuck at all, it’s merely waiting on an unclear dependency.
