I am confused on the “focus on new content over anything” situation…. here is why I am confused on it all….

Dedicated long term players
1. Want the game to play as “designed / described” – focused on enjoying the game when it works correctly, new content is good, but rather be able to press “C” and actually be the closest hostile enemy…
2. AP farmers – deal with randomness as long as new content = new AP = who cares about old content not working as designed I have to keep up with everyone else…

Casual Players
1. Don’t really know what are flaws and what is broken… You see a lot of these players in Lions Arch asking why they cant complete their story mission, or if everyone else just got disconnected…
2. Gave up on AP earnings some time ago because the gap is so huge and just want something to do with 30 mins or so of their evening…

New Players:
1. Got the game on sale, and wanted to try it out… like the idea of new content every 2 weeks, but once the honey moon is over will they stay around?
2. Friends told them about the game and thought they would give it a go.

I see the following has been happening and will continue to happen…
1. Dedicated players leaving the game or venting on the forums because they want to love GW2 and want it to work as “designed”
2. AP Farmers praying to keep up with the new content, but are going crazy because the only way it seems to keep up is to find the latest exploit / glitch… because so much of the new content is falling into the broken content category..
3. Casual Players – will notice that the teams they use to run with are dying out… there are whole map areas in game that are already empty, if there isn’t some event up, good luck finding others to join you on some things.
4. New players will become less because less friends of theirs playing, and the game has been out for a year and a half already. Or, when they attempt to make a party to do stuff they will find no one in the zone, and shift back to whatever they were doing…

I think ANet better start acting quick or they will soon find they have lost the player base that is still dealing with the punches…
There will always be other games out there, and the next fresh one (which is sure to have problems too) may just grab the eye of some of the dedicated players who really wanted to see Guild Wars 2 succeed.

Few Suggestions:
1. More rewards for helping others with their hearts and missions…. This could be “you are in party with a player who just completed this Heart or Personal Story, you receive X amount of Karma and or coin”
2. Fix the content so that you don’t have everyone finding work arounds and or glitches to actually allow them to complete tasks. “Work Arounds and tricks are not the answer, especially when it comes to wanting to patch the work around instead of making the game playable”
3. Adequate rewards – this is a very wide open topic… one thing that is bothersome is how can a lvl 35 fractal land you only 1.3 gold (can expect this to take 2 hrs or so) Yet a dungeon you can non speed run under 30 minutes due to ease of it lands you 1 gold. Both are only 1 time per day.

It’s a beautiful suggestion!
I also agree wholeheartedly with digiowl. My additions would be the following:

1. Have a selection to “tab” (switch targets) that do NOT include yellows. I’ve been fighting lots of mobs before and all of a sudden, I switch a target only to bring in a random yellow beast in the fight that could daze/knock me down at critical times.

2. Have TAB target enemies WITHIN range and WITHIN camera field of view.

3. Prioritize mobs that are actually engaged in combat with me (and the ones I have higher aggro on). Also there could be an option to not cycle targets that are not in the combat field (i.e. not acting against you or your group within your range) while fighting. This can be reset to normal when you’re not engaged.

4. A suggestion that was taken seriously by Anet, use the right mouse button ONLY for camera view/navigation and NOT for targeting.

There are times I do have a lot of trouble with target switching when doing group events. It’s very hard to see what you’re hitting if you’re ranged and even harder to know what you’re attacking if you’re storming around with a d/d elementalist. And at times like these you can’t just click on a target, because of the number of people that are around (you keep on selecting friendlies) and have to rely on target switch, which most of the times selects something irrelevant.

Targeting priorities should be simple:

1. anything actively hostile to me me, nearest to furthest, within cone of sight.

2. anything red that is not actively hostile to me, again nearest to furthest in cone of sight.

3. optionally target yellows, again nearest to furthest in cone of sight.

Never mind the issue that if you stop and turn the camera using right mouse, hitting any attack will not make the character turn to face the direction of camera before attacking. This is games console level of instanity! If they want this to be a action game, the controls need to behave as such!

Oh god, yes please. I am absolutely tired of targetting the random yellow enemy 200 feet away that just happens to be right in front of me rather than the enemy 2 feet to my left biting my arm off.

This is exactly what is happening. I’m glad it’s not just me.

Yes please, most annoying “feature” in the game. It isn’t even necessarily what is directly in front of you. I have attacked things that were off my screen before.

Nothing major, but just wondered if the “Target Nearest” key could actually do what it describes. Currently, it works along the lines of:

“Target nearest mob that is directly in front you, in the direction you are facing. Ignoring the fact that it’s 100yards away & not the mob that is trying to kill you right now.”

yes I know, not always an issue, but if you are fighting a mob & another mob joins in, “Target Nearest” is what I would like to use to target said mob after I finish the 1st one. Not pull the group that was minding there own business, but now decide to join in the fight.

Just a suggestion. That or rename the key bind cos it’s not “Target Nearest”

Should it really be needed to explain anet how to implement a proper way of targeting players/mobs ? I doubt it…i mean guild wars 1 targeting system worked perfect,i wonder how hard it can be to implement it over to gw2.One and a half year time to implement such a basic feauture is far to long though.I still fnid myself having to click select players instead of just tabbing through them..and the slightest camera movement will usually deselect them again..Its honestly one of the worst targeting systems in an mmo ive come across.

It boggles my mind that silly things get dev responses on the bug forum, but core issues with the targeting, that have been present since day one, and are crippling the combat in the entire game, do not receive one post. Not a single one! The biggest problem in the game right now has had ZERO dev feedback.

I second most suggestions, especially:

  • auto-targeting only for reds and no yellow/whites (should be default, but may be an option)
  • option for prioritizing the heaviest mob in the camera cone (that Lyssa targeting with all the players around which even loses the Ctrl-T focus is such a pain in the axe…)

Another features I’d like to see:

  • auto-targeting mobs which are very close but behind camera (though that might be considered as exploiting common sense)
  • REAL termination of auto-attack on target change (I just hate attacking a random yellow moa after killing the enemy, or even worse, pulling a pack of wolves…); or possibly an option that goes as “Initiate auto-attack sequence only after auto-attack skill has been triggered by the player once for the specific target”
  • option to disable ally (green player/NPC) mouse selection while in combat (would really help in group events)

If you double-click every item on the character in question, you will find it. It is probably an underwater weapon or a trinket. You will find the weapon already has some stats from an upgrade, and you are just overlooking the inherent stats.

I think I would like to know that my equipment isn’t being as effective than it could be.

Most people would accept the hint, choose a stat (any if they don’t care) and that’s it, no more spam.

Not really a bug btw. Anyway, enjoy the spam and less effective equipment.

I also have holiday sweaters, etc that I need to exchange. Since I didn’t understand or participate much last year, as I was new to this game format and game itself, I see it only fair to have a vendor available as gifts are still for sale in the tp and dropping in wvw.

Compact inventory does not work

I have always seen it as a feature but it would be nice to have Compact for them too, but not to send the items on it to other bags (that would spoil the purpose of these segregated bags) but clustering items on its first slots, as it does on normal bags.

This. It’s a pain to join a larger event and after it to look for overflowed equipment which filled slots of depositable items in crafting bag among all those runes and sigils.

Thank you Anet for awesome overflow system that allows me to seamlessly join any server and any map whenever I want to.

Thank you for allowing me to stay in map for long periods of time without disconnecting, bugging out or crashing when event with large number of people is about to start.

Thank you once more for letting me come back to same overflow I was on even if I did got kicked out without hassle.

I just love how new 100+ player events work seamlessly and without causing the game to malfunction.

I was also expecting the gift exchange vendors to stick around for a couple of weeks like last year. I saved all my “unwanted gifts” throughout the season to trade them all in at once at the end, as it’s tedious to trade just a few at a time, and now I’ve got many stacks of them in stash. Hopefully you can bring them back for a couple weeks, or add a tab to Sonder.

Opening the TP had always caused a little bit of a lockup as the running awesomium_process.exe accessed the TP server and loaded graphics, which also used CPU, but it was not really all that bad, but noticeable.

However, the reason for the recent increase in very noticeable lag/lockup/delay when opening the TP is because the awesomium_process.exe used to launch upon opening the TP for the first time upon entering the game and stay running the entire time you played and then be closed upon exiting the game. Apparently, in addition to the serious issue of the BLTP interface disabling keyboard (chat/movement) binds when being interacted with, the awesomium_process.exe is launching when you open the TP and then being closed once you exit the TP…having to relaunch the process every single time you open your TP up during gameplay. This will cause a second or three of locking up while the process is executed and accesses the TP server. I think they made this change so the process doesn’t eat resources for the entire time you are playing just because you used the TP once. I think they tried to improve performance by closing the process when not in use, but underestimated the frequency at which players access the TP…leading to constant relaunching of the program.

This is still very annoying. happened only recently that i can remember. I was rezzing this downed kitten whilst fighting Malrona..bad idea and i couldnt even cancel the rez when i needed to dodge or move out of the way wtf!! resulted in me being downed and then killed. this is what my altruism gets me

I hate getting stuck resurrecting, as well. Especially, when I didn’t mean to start in the first place. It doesn’t happen every time, but when it does, it is irritating, and often leads to the downed state or death.

This odd ‘bug’ only started happening around 3? months ago. A fix would be lovely. Thanks, Devs, for all your hard work. =)

I too have had this major issue… Nothing is more annoying then a situation where you are rezing someone, and time the dodge “just right” to avoid getting hit by a monster just for you to stand there and continue rezzing…
Prime example is Champ Ettin in Harpy Fractal…. He has a HUGE tell before his attack… and it would be very easy to dodge to avoid, provided the game allowed such an action…

It also seems very odd the “selective interaction” that the game uses….

Priority seems the following… even if you have a target selected that you want to interact with, the game does not care….

Banner Pickup
Resurrection
Interaction with world item.

Prime example is Cliff Side Fractal…
Warrior puts banners where we stand, hammer runner goes down where we are… you can target the hammer (if your are lucky) but you, and everyone else who follows target will not pickup the hammer until all the banners are moved, and the guy is resurrected….

I think the 2nd part of this more targeting related, and I will post it with the targeting forums as well, I just thought I would mention it since the topic is resurrection issues…
