How can I do the daily things?

It says to do 3 daily things but those are for level 18 and levels 22, so how can a new account do them to get the rewards? Is this right or a bug? Or are they not meant for new people.

They made this change after I had several 80s so I never considered the impact on new players.

My guess is it’s deliberate. Like how sometimes 2 of the 4 PvE ones involve fractals. It’s a way to push people into content they otherwise wouldn’t do.

Personally I just blow them off on those days.

The only way I’ve gotten the grey star to go away is by replaying that entire episode from start to finish.

I wish that grey star wasn’t a thing. I don’t care which episode was my most recently played. If I completed it and got the achievements then quit the episode, it should show the completed with achievements icon. If I didn’t finish the achievements…sure grey star away, but if I’m done with the episode, I don’t want to have to play through the entire thing just to get the grey star to go away.

It’s not a bug, you can’t use those items to port out of the Mists. the PvP lobby and WvW are both part of the mists. You can’t use them while you’re in an instance either (i.e. your home instance or personal story steps).

It’s basically a custom waypoint from your current location to another spot on the map. As you cannot see Tyria at all on your map from the PvP lobby, I highly doubt that using the terrace pass, airship pass or home portal stone will work from there. I’m betting that the Hall of Monuments stone will not work from there either as it would be the same deal since it has a real location on the map of Tyria.

I don’t have a source to cite. However, the 2 week versions of both the Airship Pass and Royal Terrace Pass, as well as the Permanent versions, have never been useable in the PvP Lobby. If it was an error or something they intended on changing, a statement about such would have been made at some point. Thus, I have to assume it’s either intended or a case of “eh, we’re not gonna change it anyway”.

If you have received “no reply,” then it’s very likely that your email provider is identifying anet mail as ‘spam’. Check the various folders to make sure it isn’t going missing.

If you are sure that ANet auto-replies have gotten to you, add a note to the sticky for tickets that have gone more than 7 days without a human response. Michael Henninger will be sure to follow-up; just needs a ticket #, the date first submitted, and a brief description of the issue.

I’m not sure what you mean by “none of the loot rewards showed up,” since they don’t “show up,” they appear in the bonus chests that you have to manually click to obtain. Further, for Tequatl, you have to get credit for each defense wave to get all four of the bonus rewards: the blue, green, yellow, and orange consumable chests.

I’m also not sure what you mean by “disappearing Ascended recipes” — recipes don’t vanish. It’s possible you changed crafting disciplines (in which case, you wouldn’t be able to see them) or they were on a different character than you remember. (Most of us have done one/both of the above.)

No XP/Loot in large groups: Reproducible

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Xiahou Mao.9701

Xiahou Mao.9701

For a long time now, the game has had an issue with obtaining credit for killing enemies when in very large groups, a problem that became worse with the addition of the Megaserver and scheduled world bosses that come with it. Even so, this bug is not limited to just such events, it can also happen in World vs. World, in Dry Top sandstorms, and any other place where large numbers of players gather and fight the same things.

The problem is that only a limited number of players are capable of receiving experience and loot from each given enemy. The exact number of players, I can’t say, but the limit seems to be around 50, enough to be problematic given that the maximum zone population in most places is 150.

After testing on world boss events, I’ve determined that the trigger that determines which players get loot and which players do not is not tied to damage at all, but rather to speed. The first players to hit a given enemy will be flagged to be able to receive loot from it. Once the maximum number of loot-receiving players has been reached, subsequent players to hit the enemy cannot receive loot or experience from it no matter how much damage they do. The only recourse a late-coming player has to obtain loot is via party mechanics. If the late player is in a group with someone who hit the enemy in time, the loot credit will be shared within the group.

This bug is easy to reproduce in any situation where there are large numbers of players. If you hit an enemy quickly once it appears/becomes vulnerable, you will obtain loot even if you do poor DPS to it. If you are slow in hitting an enemy and are not among the first 50-ish players to do so, you will not obtain loot even if you do tremendous DPS to it. This causes other issues due to the lack of kill credit received. Using the Legendary Karka Queen as an example, it’s a heavily-zerged world boss that, with its Karka Roll attack, is capable of downing players who aren’t aware enough to dodge. If you fight the Legendary Karka Queen and its first health bar is depleted soon after it does a Karka Roll, you’ll be able to see who was slow to hit it among the 100+ players present. The downed players who had hit it soon enough to receive loot/XP will rally when the first health bar is depleted. The downed players who were too late and will not receive any loot or XP from the Karka Queen on its death will not rally, due to the lack of credit, and will remain downed from the Karka Roll.

This loot bug leads to the risk of antisocial behaviour appearing. Using the Great Jungle Wurm in Caledon Forest as an example, there are three pre-events that must be cleared before the “Defeat the Avatars of Blight” event starts. The problem is that players who go and complete those pre-events wind up being too far away to return in time to hit the first Avatar of Blight that the mass of players waiting will jump on, thus causing them to miss out on an Heirloom Seed Pouch (possibly two depending on how fast things go) because they went and did a necessary event to progress the world boss sequence. Similarly, players who go to the “Close the Mist Portals” pre-event in the Frozen Maw event chain wind up being too far away to quickly hit the Champion Svanir Shaman, and thus cannot get the Icy Strongbox he drops on his corpse unless there are either very few players present (unlikely in a Megaserver) or they are partied with someone else who stayed behind to hit the Shaman quickly once he becomes vulnerable. Players should not be punished for completing events, but that is the case in these situations.

This bug goes pretty deep under the hood of the Guild Wars 2 engine, I imagine. It has existed since the start of the game, but even now remains largely unknown, with only the few players who have noticed the strange occasional lacks of loot and have decided to put in time and effort testing that out being able to figure out what exactly causes it, with most people affected by the bug thinking it was their own fault for “not doing enough DPS”. It would certainly be good to hear from a red name on this issue, to see if they’re aware of it and if it’s something that’s feasible to fix. I do worry that the longer it goes unfixed, and the more people who learn the truth of how loot is assigned, the worse certain events will get, with races to try to tag champion enemies being set up and harsh words being tossed around once some people inevitably are left out in the cold without loot.

One of the big selling points of Guild Wars 2 is that you should never be annoyed to see another player present. As things stand, when you see seventy-five (or more) other players present, you know that some of them are going to be slow and thus receive less rewards as a result.

These wings, especially on Charr characters are really an eye sore and obstruct the view of many things in the game. Standing by a vendor, all I can see is these wings. Destroying a gate in WvW, all I can see is wings, everywhere. For such a gorgeous and well designed game, I’m struggling to understand the decision to put these in, but they are popular and more and more people will own them, and each to his own. I just wondered if there is a way to stop displaying them? I know we can choose not to display our own back items. Please consider making this an option if there isn’t one, this is really offputting.

Yes , if it’s the virus comes from Guild Wars 2 , there will be more post about it but I don’t know why the virus itself only attacked my pc. TWICE too. And yes , I download Guild Wars 2.exe from the official website. The virus start attacking only when I tried to OPEN the game. I did a full virus scan and no scene of it. I suspect it attacks the Window 32 log.file or something , causes windows to completely freeze. How do I provide more information? There is no track of this virus except it’s freezing my pc. And no , there is nothing wrong with my pc , this I’m pretty sure. I played a lot of other games and this never happen to me ever. I was even wondering why my laptop turn so kittenty , I reformat it and seems nothing to be wrong anymore. I feel relieved. I downloaded the game , Guild Wars 2 from official website , patched it (I patch it on like few days , pause in between). After few days , I open Guild Wars2.exe , during loading (still black screen) . My pc completely freezes and I have to power off myself. I uninstalled it , but I think it’s too late because the virus already attacked my Windows 32.log file or whatsoever.

Edit : Yes reformatting helps to kill all the problems I had and run smoothly on my PC and other games. UNTIL I downloaded GW2 and open it, freezing problems start and so on

[Bug] Teleport to Friend

Heya all,

Dunno if this has been reported before since the search feature found nothing but, basically, if you try to use a [Teleport to Friend] item to jump to a party member in a zone that is full it will not teleport you to the zone, give you a message informing you that the zone is full but still consume the [Teleport to Friend]. Considering it’s not technically possible to see if a zone is full until you actually try to join to it and the [Teleport to Friend]’s are cash shop and Black Lion Chest items I would consider this a bit of an issue.

There’s nothing like using something that you payed money for only to have it not work but still be consumed in the process.

I don’t mind at all that you make the wallet larger, or redesign it. I know many many people who would be very happy to see new currencies added to the wallet. It is nice to be able to spend things like the snowflakes and candy corn directly from our bank, but geodes and crests are nothing more than currency.

Please, I hope there are any of you devs out there that can see if from our side of the situation.

My money and ability to expand my bank is limited. I’m getting close to having max bank tabs and they are all FULL. I am overflowing with currencies I want more room to store the tonics, toys and other things I’d like to get but I can’t because I don’t have room.

OMG Archomeda’s design is gorgeous and is exactly what we need. I love the grid view and would rather than with the tabs at the top than the list view with the scroll bar. Either way though, I want that. So much. I don’t think the SAB stuff needs to be in there, and I can take or leave the pristine relics.

What’s great though is the “withdraw” and would make it so that if in the future some of these currencies became Mystic Forge Tokens, they could be regained to use in the recipe.

I love it so much, I hope they take your design to heart and implement something like that because it is flat out amazing.

ANet,

please look at this:

This is, imo, very close to the ideal wallet. I would pay for this. In cupcakes.

Pros: clears up inventory, logically ordered, can be expanded on with minimal fuss in future

Cons: see what you have at a glance functionality is gone, some scrolling required

For me the pros outweigh the cons easily.

The original user added the “at a glance” functionality, I added collapsable categories and a “watch list” at the top

I personally don’t work with my dungeon tokens or fractal relics enough to need to see them at a glance.

Right now though, I want to see my gold, gems, geodes and bandit crests at a glance.

But for those that do, a suggestion has come up: a “list of favorites” as the default page (that works the same way as the achievements watchlist). This would solve the problem for anybody and be flexible enough to support all sorts of permanent and temporary preferences.

Right now we’re sort of splitting out things you can “spend” between three different places: Your inventory, your bank, and your wallet.

At its core, we need to decide on one of these to compliment your inventory and call it good. As we’re continuing to introduce more items like the geodes and bandit “hello my name is” crests, this has obviously become even more of an issue

Ultimately, we either need to let you spend materials from your bank directly at vendors so you don’t need to keep them in your inventory (and then make geodes/crests materials) OR continue to make the wallet larger and larger. Or option #3 we haven’t considered yet you might think of in this suggestion forum!

Either way, we’re aware of the need and will address it “when it’s ready™”.

Good to know you are looking at this. That said, I’m concerned it isn’t a clearer picture. But perhaps I am misunderstand. The question is, how are Geodes fundamentally different than dungeon tokens? Bot are exclusively given as rewards in a very particular area, and both are used as a currency to buy exclusive (and nonexclusive) items for that currency.

Unless I’m missing something, they are fundamentally the same. And if that is the case, then the same mechanic should be used for consistency. The wallet was a great solution to the token issue, so if they are fundamentally the same then one must logically conclude that the wallet is the right place for Geodes (and other similar currencies)

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

(snip) continue to make the wallet larger and larger.

I’ll paste my reddit post:

There’s nothing wrong with going by second option and making Wallet bigger; it could be slightly redesigned by adding flippable pages/panels like in any other game’s GUI or tree similar to one that we can see in Hero’s Equipment panel. Currencies could be categorized by type:

  • main section for gold and gems
  • activity rewards (laurels, perhaps also karma and guild commendations),
  • competitive mode tokens (badges of honor and any additional one in future)
  • dungeon tokens (regular one and fractals)
  • regional tokens
  • temporary festival currency
  • additional services that could cover transmutation charges, yesterday’s ideas about makeover changes that could be turned into another kind of charges or joined with transmutation ones into single type to avoid player confusion™

Perhaps there could be a place for BL scraps or full tickets but this doesn’t sound like these should be turned into another currency type

Thing is, you’ve got several different problems going on here. Some of them are your problem, some of them are ours.

  • All the new events and areas use new currencies to help isolate them, minimizing possible unforeseen interactions with other aspects of the economy. Personally I think this is a reasonable solution to a difficult problem. It is, however, inherently short sighted and shallow. Ideally you’d have a better economic system that allowed people to adopt a common standard of currency like… oh… money. And then use that everywhere, rather than resorting to arbitrarily limited barter. I doubt that’s ever going to happen.
  • All the new currencies that are not in the wallet consume space in our inventory and/or bank. Bad for us because it consumes precious slots, great for you because it makes us buy more slots.
  • Some things are sufficiently rare to REALLY be barter items, typically things that are exchanged at a 1:1 rate, like amber fossils. Anything we acquire stacks of, like geodes, are clearly a currency.

You guys dug this hole, by building an economic system that relies on segregation of rewards. The system that is best for the player is that all currencies go in the wallet.

I dunno about tabs. I like the “see everything at a glance” function of wallet as it currently is. Plus, they’d have to change how it works to allow us to click on a tab.

What about allowing both, sort of like your inventory? A gear drop down that lets you choose between “tabbed view” and a view-everything with a scroll bar?

Or option #3 we haven’t considered yet you might think of in this suggestion forum!

IMO, option #1 (let you spend currencies from the bank and make them collectable) isn’t even a real option, at least not in terms of stuff like the bandit crests and geodes.

Collections hold 250 items by default. Every “big ticket” item you buy with Geodes or Crests costs well over that amount, and that’s not even taking into account the fact that many people will hoard Geodes in excess until they can happen upon a T6 Dry Top to spend them on. So making a collectibles spot for those would help very little in the grand scheme of things. Sure, you’d clear up one spot in your inventory, but that’s ultimately only a small help if you’re holding onto a half a dozen stacks waiting for the right time to spend.

And because of the prices of the items as mentioned, that also wouldn’t do much of anything to help the issue of having a few stacks of Geodes on one character, finding yourself in a good Dry Top instance and wanting to spend them on another character. Sure, you may have 250 of them in the bank, but if you want to buy a 340-geode recipe you’re still out of luck.

I suppose you could store excess amounts in the bank tabs if you could sell from the bank directly (at least I assume it would work from all parts of the bank and not just collections) but you’re still using up tons of bank space on extra currencies then.

Unless you’re going to make the collection slots for those items unlimited (if that’s even possible), then I just don’t think that would solve much of anything. It would help, sure, but if you’re going to work on a solution you may as well do a solution that completely fixes the issue entirely, not just helps a bit.

The wallet was designed for the exact purpose of storing items which serve zero purpose except as currency (at least that’s how I understand it), and that’s exactly what Geodes and Bandit Crests are. Besides the items you can buy and the method of acquisition, there’s no difference between them and dungeon tokens. Tokens are in the wallet, and so should be Geodes and Crests. And any future items of similar function.

If the wallet becoming “cluttered” visually is an issue, then I’d say the best idea would simply be to organize the secondary currencies (like dungeon tokens and these crests / geodes) into sub-categories. Instead of just having every one displayed right there in the wallet from the get-go, put all the dungeon tokens in a Dungeon category, all the regional tokens like Crests into a Regional category, ect. That would actually make the wallet look more organized than it currently is, while also giving you more than enough room to add to it.

Currencies that have no value beyond being used as currencies should never be items that take up inventory space. That means the following should absolutely appear in the wallet:

  • WvW Claim Tickets
  • Geodes
  • Bandit Crests
  • Black Lion Ticket Scraps
  • Bauble
  • Bauble Bubble
  • Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Ticket

So forth. Obviously, it make sense to split up the Wallet possibly into multiple tabs or something to distinguish between temporary or location-dependent currencies, dungeon currencies, and so forth. I would imagine the division as follows:

  • Basic
    • Coin
    • Gems
    • Karma
    • Transmutation Charges
    • Laurels
  • Specialty
    • Guild Commendations
    • Badges of Honor
    • WvW Claim Ticket
    • Black Lion Ticket Scrap
  • Dungeon
    • Ascalonian Tears
    • Seals of Beetletun
    • Deadly Blooms
    • Manifestos of the Moletariate
    • Flame Legion Charr Carvings
    • Symbols of Koda
    • Knowledge Crystals
    • Shards of Zhaitan
    • Fractal Relics
  • Tyria
    • Geodes
    • Bandit Crests
  • Temporary
    • Bauble
    • Bauble Bubble
    • Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Tickets

I think this would make the most sense.

Currencies go in wallet.

Crafting materials go in material storage.

Just do not make any dual-function items that are both a currency and a crafting material. If you want to introduce both a currency and a crafting material in the same release, add a vendor that can convert your currency to the crafting material. If there already exists an item that is both a currency and a crafting material, make it a currency and change all existing recipes to use a new crafting material that you need to get from a vendor using that currency.
