Don t be to tough to Anet.

The LFG-Tool rolled out on September 23, 2013. They only had 14 1/2 month time for such a complex tool who can display text ingame – isn t that great.
Well we had 2 CoD, 2 BF and other stuff during that time, but the QA of Anet is tough and they don t let it pass until it s perfect.

And don t forget it s still a beta, perhaps a late Alpha and they still testing what so ever.

LFG Tool – it’s mystery is only exceeded by it’s power

They are good at doing things that ppl are not asking instead fixing the game. Also very good at being silent. A week since this stupid bug runs and not a simple kittening word.
Wondering if they care at all.

One word: Epilepsy.

I haven’t, as yet and to my knowledge, suffered from seizures myself – but I know from repeated experience that I can “feel” very uncomfortable from visual stimulation that causes seizures in others. And guess what? The flashing LFG list is making me feel precisely like that. So – no offense ANet; I know you have to prioritise your bug resolution, and my own reactions could be entirely spurious – but this one is potentially very serious, and I suggest you hike it way up the list.

The window updates everytime someone joins someone’s party, instead of the icon just slowly appearing in the window instead, needs more of a real-time function without the stupid animation (appearing from right side and moving to the left over and over).

For two years “Nearest Enemy” has been selecting someone in front of us (for the most part. Targeting has always been a little problematic in this game). Now it is working MUCH differently. That alone is cause enough for outcry.

(Though despite numerous threads decrying the targeting problems here, in the Bugs forum, and elsewhere, I have yet to see ANet acknowledge us in any manner.)

Targeting should never target yellow or white mobs.
If there are 2 floors and you use melee weapon targeting should know that you dont want to attack target above you because you are not on the second floor.

Those are the biggest problems of targeting.

I think that a “set yellow/neutral to click target only” option would solve a lot of issues, and not be overly complicated.(big pluses from a coding viewpoint) Very clever.

I think the most annoying part for me with the targetting in general is just that it will target walls in WvW. Things that you don’t need to target even with the things that can damage them, and that you can’t damage with anything that does require a target (especially your weapons).

I’d personally sign for “Nearest target” not targetting yellows, at least. Hate targetting a wall just because I’m a couple steps closer to it than the player shooting at me.

@ Filaha – It may be the difference in GW1 & GW2 targeting that is messing me up. In GW1 “closest target” seems to work much more like “next target” in GW2. Whereas in GW1 “next target” often seemed oddly random, so I’ve never made much use of it. But I’ll definitely try using it now. Thanks again for your help.

@ TheBlackLeech – Thank you for taking the time to make very detailed explanations. In your example, the tree’s _ hitbox obscures the ettin’s _ hit box, so line of sight can’t target the ettin. And the environment/topography of GW2 is very complex, leading to a lot of obscuring hit boxes which would interfere with line of sight targeting. But I still think that they should refine how the game determines whether a target can/cannot be hit, and not target something which cannot be legitimately hit.
In the bandit cave in Kessex Hills, for example, GW2 will let me target the caged cave trolls, which cannot be hit and are in fact invulnerable. Why does GW2 even consider the trolls as possible targets? In the Ruins of Holy Demetra, GW2 will target angry spirits through impenetrable walls. This is isn’t like your WvW high tower target obscurement bug, these are targets which cannot be legitimately hit. Yet GW2 will target them in preference to targets which can be hit.
I see your point, but I think that the targeting methodology needs tweaking. I’m going to have to experiment with “next target”, though. That may prove to be a viable workaround. Thank you again for your answers.

I can’t believe that something so major still isn’t fixed nearly 5 days later. I would love to send a flood of bug reports but my fear is that the answer that I’ll get will look something like this: “Works as intended”.

How did this even happen? There were no changes to the LFG system whatsoever so how did you guys kitten it up so badly? Stop fixing kitten like water splashing where it shouldn’t and focus on the more important things.

It doesn’t make sense to target things that can’t be hit(on the other side of a wall for example) in favor of things that can be hit. And reds should be targeted in favor of yellows. In fact there ought to be an option to disable targeting of yellows. They really messed up with the red/yellow target thing, IMO. There ought to be a way to target heart/event objectives and hostiles, without targeting neutral creatures.

and here’s a good example of why Anet can simply never win with the community.

this is something that a lot of people complained about before.. that “nearest” shouldn’t depend on which direction you’re facing, that nearest should literally be the nearest enemy, period.

they’ve now fixed it so of course people are now complaining about wanting it reverted.

I don’t really have an opinion on which it should be.. but it’s important to remember that for every complaint you have about the game, there’s plenty of people that want the very opposite.

I do not remember people ever asking for Centaur Supplies being targeted behind your back when you’re heading towards a Veteran Centaur to make a ranged interrupt opening.

What I do remember is people asking for the enemy to be targeted if you killed the guy in the front and there’s still someone really close to you to the side or back who’s attacking you, especially if you know it since your view is zoomed out.

I agree that tweaking such things for everyone’s taste is tricky, but manual options and common sense make far more sense than iterating in a radius around your character.

I wish it was so. Usually when I get ganked by mordred wolves in Silverwastes, of course it will never pick up the one biting my ankles, but the one who is still a few yards away. My experience is the auto-attack picking the farthest target, the one that I would least want to attack. Not to talk about the fact that if the target moves, often auto-attack would attack ANOTHER mob bringing it into the fray too.

Targeting has always had issues in GW2,

but it looks like recently it’s become even more of a problem:

It looks like after the September Feature Pack targeting is selecting literally the closest target even if it’s to the side, completely behind, behind a door/wall, or is a structure. It leads to a lot, a lot of frustrating situations where I appear to be trying (and failing) to attack something completely different instead of the enemy which is in front and trying to kill me.

It would be nice to have it at least reverted to the behaviour which limited closest target to the viewable screen, and preferably to have outstanding targeting changes to be made, such as:

1. Improved targeting system: option to display and cast AoE skills at max (“green”) distance even if cursor is out of range (particularly useful for shadowstep skills);

2. option to exclude yellow mobs from closest targets;

3. option to limit closest target to a narrow cone in front of the character (say hello to white moa at Jormag);

4. option to prioritize heaviest mobs over trash;

5. separate key to target heaviest mob (not bound by default);

6. option to always cast AoE on selected target (if it is in range);

7. option to prioritise enemies over allies when clicking to select target (Lyssa surrounded by trash and players);

8. retaining target marker on reappearing targets (Lyssa, Inquest Golem Mk II, Shatterer);

9. reworking the way in which large targets with high target point are losing focus when camera is tilted towards the ground a bit.

141. Official version of “Combat Mode” – a crosshair which targets anything under it and makes AoEs cast at where crosshair points, plus various rebinds. Thread on reddit, video demo.

I was having the same issue with completely random numbers being entered when I’d delete or try to type in my own values into the sell value boxes, at least as of the other day. Wasn’t always the highest bidder or lowest seller value either, a lot of times it was just a random number that didn’t make any sense.

I also hate that the inventory list constantly resets itself to a certain position when selling items.

Another annoyance I have with the new TP is the lack of an “add to my existing listing” option. Or at least an option to see what my lowest valued listing is currently at. I know I’m undercutting my own listings once in a while.

Also, I’d love the ability to quickly exit out of the ‘success’ dialog that pops up when an item is listed. I hate having to constantly move my cursor to the little X button to close it, instead of just being able to tap the escape key or something. I’d like for the escape key to first close the top-most window, rather than the whole trading post pane.

I also find it slightly annoying that I have to move out of the selling tab to the buying tab and re-enter a search string for something I just wanted to quickly check the value of. I’m constantly getting empty search results only to realize I’m still in the selling tab and have to start all over. There should probably be a separate search bar for your own transactions/inventory that’s more out of the way since that’s likely used a lot less often than a global TP search.

I also don’t like the search filters defaulting to equipment for my current class, without a way to ‘save’ my preferences for all classes by default.

When you use the in game bug report tool, you will not get a response back from ArenaNet. That tool is just for reporting bugs directly to the development team. They do not send back individual responses for these reports.

If you are having an issue getting a specific POI, you might describe some details on what sort of issue you are having and almost always the people on the forums can help you find a way to reach it or find it.

It’s a shame that 3 days later this bug still exist. LFG is unusable especially when a lot of taxis are created. But hey, much more important that the newest update contains something like “Text was updated for the World Tournament Series special event for all regions.” This will make the players happier than important bugfixes…

the living story is on, I am trying to join organized silverwastes maps so i can play , and instead i end up with headache ,spending my time trying (and failing) to read properly the lfg because of that blinking and then click like mad trying to get to a party which end up been the wrong one.This is so frustrating and so not fun, please at least let us know that you are trying to fix it

It is the same as Vyetta says, for me.
This is a personal story mixer. For a game that pulls a lot of hipe on its storyline this is an utter disaster, in my opinion.
Good thing I had some PGs already at level 80 before the patch, otherwise I wouldn’t know how the events took place, in their logical order.
I hope for the game that this will be recognised as a mistake and reput in line.
Keep up the good work Devs, we don’t need themed chapters to know what we are doing, we need quality

I tried really hard to join a taxi for sw for my daily events for about 10 min.

I joined:

2 x Arah Story group
1 x LS group
4 x group looking for a taxi to SW
2 x tequ taxi
3 x ascalon path 3
1 x CoF path 1

After that i get this lovely message “you joined too many parties”.

But i know it s a test. Don t know for what, but i m sure it s a test. It must be a test.

Adding my name to the list of people who find this LFG bug annoying.

This is a horrible thing to trigger epilepsy or migraines, really. I’m not prone to either and I still got a massive headache after trying (and failing) to taxi to populated SW runs.

Please give me back my old WORKING Beta LFG. The one which worked well and was readable and uasable.. Do it ASAP!

You made it from a release version to actually pre-bèta… it’s almost pronounced as pro-better, but it shows the level of quality which I doubt this would even be allowed as alpha software in the first place, and when testing it in a closed environment it probably looks s(l)ick but its driving me insane, it destroys part of the new the workings of the game..

AND THIS IS IMPORTANT so Ninja Patch it if you have to!

If you do not improve it, then by the love of the six gods, don’t change it.

I think this is a test for eye-hand coordination.
The one who can still hit the right button more than 2 times getting hired by the CIA.
All others will going blind after 2 weeks.

By the way, i nominate this patch for the “most bugged patch 2014” trophy.

Hello, LFG is still broken. It’s refreshing list everytime someone joins the party/leave so it displays “slide in” animation for every party listed in LFG / displayed list. Except first one of the list.
Since for the open world content it’s refreshing almost every quearter of the second, it’s almost stroboscopic and I believe it can cause epileptic attack.

Hey peeps,
I am working with the Trading Post several hours per week as I enjoy trading a lot. Out of the endless list of little things that annoy me about the TP (most of which came with the September 2014feature pack) I want to complain about 2 today.

One of them occured with the mentioned update (09.09.14):
When I sell an item (doesn’t matter if instantly or not), the scroll bar on the right will move up to the top (not to the very top though, wtf). This happens before the “Success” panel appears. It is VERY annoying.
I had the exact same issue with the “My Transactions” tab but there the bug was removed already (30.09.14):
“Canceling a listing on the My Transactions tab no longer scrolls back to the top of the lists.” (taken from wiki).

However, after the newest update (02.12.14), my hatred focuses on a new thing that appears both in the “Buy Items” and the “Sell Items” tab:
After selecting an item, deleting the numbers in the copper panel of the price will cause the whole price to suddenly convert to the minimum unit price (when ordering) or to the minimum sell price (when selling, obv.).
This may seem as something you can ignore due to its rare occurence to some of you, but for me, it occurs very frequently.
Example: I want to sell an item and undercut the lowest seller not just by one copper, but rather put my item at the highest price possible but with the silver amount smaller that the silver amount of the lowest seller’s price.
Actual example now: Lowest sell offer is 1g26s57c. I want to put my item in for 1g25s99c (this strategy has economic reason which don’t really matter now because I just want to complain about the bug/“feature”).
So when I click into the copper panel and delete the “57”, the total price will suddenly appear as the lowest sell price possible (which is the minimum unit price divided by 0.85 (then rounded up)) instead of being 1g26s0c. AARGH!
All I wanted to do is delete the “57” and then scroll down one step! I have been doing this for months now (at least) and it is incredibly fast compared to typing in the “99” yourself everytime and then scrolling the silver down one step.
(The whole thing is very similar for buy orders; with the highest buy order being 1g26s57c I want to place my order at 1g27s0c.)

I have no idea why these two things are there, I really hope they are bugs.
Has anybody here noticed these things aswell or am I the only one?
And finally, in case an Arena-Net employee reads this, PLEASE tell them TP guys to fix this stuff!
