I agree, I’ve solo’d many champs here who were particularly vulnerable to ranged attacks, which made ranged a much safer option because it would also mean to completely avoid damage in most cases. This also relates to the rest of the open world, where you can use ranged attacks to be relatively safe.

For all those saying they solo’d those champs, please state your class and build and weapon(s) choice. I’m interested in how you beat the champ mushroom for a start. And how many attempts. And the vamp champ.

If you got any help, you didn’t solo.

I did the majority of the hero point champions solo using full zerker and full trap dragonhunter using longbow and mace/focus.

Took me two tries for mushroom, haven’t started the other one yet.

When they announced 400 hero points for the elite specs I thought “Ah, a challenge”, especially as I have a character of every class.
Now that challenge has been stolen by whiners – the very same whiners that will be complaining that they have nothing left to do in a week’s time…..

You would have thought Anet would have learned by now – a bunch of vocal whiners complain about something new being too hard so Anet make it easier and then those very same whiners complain they have nothing left to do because it was too easy.
It has happened every time Anet have released new content and will carry on happening until Anet say “Hey you keep saying you wanted challenges”.

It’s not a challenge to run around 4 maps and pushing F so I can have a new way to play the content I purchased.

With the 400 point requirement, I had to either go on a scavenger hunt and rush through the content , or play through each map and burn through the content before I could use the new tools given to my profession.

Define casual. I’m “casual” and 400 didn’t bother me. Probably because I play PvE and map complete every character so I needed only 190 to unlock the Elite fully. Hard core WvW and PvPers who can’t be bothered to play the core PvE game as well as Alt speed levelers, they are the ones who are screaming bloody murder. OMG they have to go and rub shoulders with PvEers and do … content.

I really don’t understand why people want this artificial number to stop other people from having fun.
This is a new playstyle for our professions, not some bar you fill up to satisfy yourself.
Besides, what’s the point of having a high requirement when it means you’ll have to run through the content anyways, WITHOUT that new playstyle you wanted?

Also, to further my point, I’d like to point out that all 3 of you guys QQing about the expac have a history of doing nothing of complaining on the forums.
Gee look at that pattern.

Aren’t you being a hypocrite here? You have a similar history, except it’s the polar opposite of theirs, looking at your posts.

I’m not sure why people having an opinion offends you so much, as well as the rest of the heavily defensive fans of Guild Wars 2.

It’s not them having a different opinion.
It’s the fact they do nothing but blow up the forums every single time something new is released or some change happens. It gets old and it’s beyond the point of constructive criticism. They make our community seem like nothing but a bunch of spoiled whiny children.
It puts off potential new players and adds nothing but negativity. And 90% of the time it’s over nothing or uncalled for.

Calling people ‘whiny spoiled children’ also is not constructive criticism.

Back to the main topic, I can understand the annoyance of the masteries for the initial entry to the jungle, without glider, updraft, or mushroom mastery, traversing the jungle becomes more tedious, especially if you are alone, and there isn’t anyone to revive you, so if you slip and fall, it’s a long walk back.

And What About Spirit Weapons?

in Guardian

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

Going back to weapons…

I think some issues come from the weapons not scaling with power, but they scale with conditions. This sort of limits the possible build choices, and the option to pick power or conditon damage would give greater build variety.

I could see them being used more often if the guardian wasn’t so vulnerable without them. Combine this with bad AI, and it makes guardian a prime target.
Of course, this has been stated plenty of times already…

I would like spirit weapons to be a hybrid of banners and minions, granting support, but also following closeby. I honestly would prefer them to remain entirely offensive, but unless we get the gyro treatment…

Also speaking of conjured weapons and healing, we can turn the bow into a supportive conjured spirit weapon, giving guardians a temporary healing role and long ranged cleanse. This is off the top of my head though. No idea how to balance it without being too weak or strong.

The game, especially open world PvE, is so easy that players quit within the initial 20 or so levels because the game is incredibly dull, and they never even bother to try more exciting content BECAUSE they get shot down by the boring content. If you want ‘relaxing’, you have the entire game as it is, but I can safely assume that players will have other things to go through in the expansion if they don’t want to do ‘hardcore’ and ‘elitist’ content.

There was quite a bit of concern when the last beta came up, because suddenly the new areas became easier. That shows you that not everyone wants cakewalk content, and if you aren’t ready to go into the expansion because of ‘elitists’, then I assume you’re talking about raids, which are supposed to be our new challenging group content. If you wanted to be rewarded for completing a ‘relaxing’ raid, then maybe you should look towards dungeons and fractals instead, but don’t try to ruin the only opportunity we have to getting something that can be more interesting than what we already have.

The reason I mention raids is because you specifically mention gear, so I also assume that you want the legendary armor. I have nothing against an alternative method for legendary armor, but if you specifically want the content in general to be easier, then I will repeat the first word I have said ( typed ).

Please improve base virtues

in Guardian

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

Virtues are the weakest class specific abilities. You hardly lose anything for activating them, so it’s not a big sacrifice that they make it out to be. They need to have much more impact, and even when you specialize into virtues, they still don’t feel that important other than a free cleanse. This seems to go against the design philosophy that guardians make strategic decisions and sacrifices when you just leave them on passive and have better results.

He basically said the current system frustrates him (not frustrates the community, frustrates him) and requested a simple change, so that it would be less frustrating for him.

Random button

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

For each character in Equipment > Finishers menu there is the “random finisher button”.

Why for Mail Carriers, Minipets and even Outfits, that button doesn’t exist?

I have lot of them and I’d like that sometimes they change randomly without going to manually edit it everything.

Because random finisher button is randomized between all the finishers, which means the ones you have and ones you don’t have.

really?

first time i heard that

are you sure?

No is not true XD

That’s interesting because i’m sure i didn’t buy cow finisher. Or quaggan. Or llama. Or giant. Or any finisher to be honest. Yet while doing pvp i get all sorts of finishers while stomping and randomizer is on. I tought everyone has it like that. Can’t be a glitch can it?

It’s either someone else’s finisher or you didn’t have the unlimited use version and burned your consumable version.

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

I agree, Dragonhunter seems like a skirmisher, with long ranged attacks and close range traps. However, it is quite hard to do this with a slow movement speed, and requires positioning for both your traps and a firing position. On top of that, since a couple of the skills root you, it will take longer to position yourself. I mean, you could just run up to the enemy and drop them at their feet, but it is counter intuitive to the ideas of traps, the bow, and the traits of the Dragonhunter.

Suggested reworks to some skills

in Guardian

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

I think these skills need a rework, since there aren’t many situations or builds that would use them. Here are my ideas. I have 3 different ideas for Radiant Retaliation, I tried to keep it in the theme of retaliation and light.

Sanctuary – Add protection and increase healing, reduce CD. Sanctuary can be detonated for 1k healing

Merciful Intervention – Allow teleportation to anywhere, grant aegis and protection for 2 seconds on allies, and give 5% of a revive to downed allies and knockback enemies with 10 knockback distance.

Signet of Mercy – Make cast much shorter and increase the healing power. Allow use while moving, and in mid air.

Signet of Courage – heal every 5 seconds, but cut the passive in half to keep the healing per second the same. Double the radius, cast time reduction, allow movement while casting.

_

Radiant Retaliation – Every stack of retaliation you give or recieve grants one stack of ‘Radiance’. At max radiance, burst with light granting 5 seconds protection and 5 seconds of light aura, ( Idea 1)

OR When damaged under the effects of Retaliation, grant one stack of radiance, and when radiance reaches maximum stacks, burst with light, doing X damage and gain light aura for 3 seconds and cure crippled, blindness, chill, immobilized, slow. ICD 10s ( Idea 2 )

OR When damaged under the effects of Retaliation, grant one stack of radiance, and when radiance reaches maximum stacks, the last enemy who hit you will be placed under light’s judgement for X seconds. ( Idea 3 )

Could lower level areas use work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AWACS.6537

AWACS.6537

Ever since the game has gone free to play, I was able to recruit about a hundred players into my guild. However, only 30 are active and the rest had already quit within the 10-20 levels of the game, as they have already been inactive for a week. Several of my friends had also started to play, so I decided to ask them what they thought about the game, and I asked the people who are still active.

The biggest thing I heard from them was that the game was boring for the starter areas, as well as much of the open world they had played so far. This was mainly due to the fact that there wasn’t much challenge or excitement behind anything, you just killed things or picked up stuff and handed it to NPCs.

However, they didn’t have the same response after I ran a few dungeons with them, and I think this shows that open world PvE is very dull. Many of them had gotten used to NPCs dying to autoattacks, and in dungeons they charged in and learned the hard way.

Another thing, the game does not provide a good tutorial, and I think there should be an optional advanced combat tutorial explaining stats, boons, conditions, blocks, etc etc. The ‘trickle’ of information through levels does not provide players enough information about what they could be doing later, and many ignore it BECAUSE it’s just very tempting to just grab the reward and accept it. I had to explain many different mechanics and features to newer players, and while I didn’t mind it, I realized that many more players would not have someone else guide them through the game. An example I would like to use is guilds. I had to mail every single new member to explain representing a guild, and what representing does. Many of them did not know you had to represent to use guild chat, many more did not know you can be in more than one guild.

The final thing is that players participate in events with other players, but after they complete the events, they will probably never see each other again. This leads to an overall lack of community development. The game’s design encourages players to follow events to get rewards and experience, and to continue to explore. This leaves new players without a solid ground to return to. This leaves the player with no one else to play with, and even though you are technically playing with all of these other players, more often than not, many of them will not talk to each other. The only instances where new players actually communicate are dungeons, if they aren’t being kicked because they aren’t 80/Zerkers. sPvP has some slight communication, but many new players wander into sPvP matches and get stomped on anyways.

I haven’t seen any new players in WvW though

The only exception to the final point, however, is if they have friends/family/whatever to play with. The final point could also describe most of the game anyways, but whatever, this is what I had gathered from my guild/friends, along with some of my personal ideas. I also don’t mean the starter areas in particular, but the lower level areas in general.

I’m not saying I have a solution to anything, I just wanted to point these out and see what other people think as far as opinions go.
