As Gab said, why cant we have both. As is it small groups as so discouraged to the point where most maps consist of one giant zergball going from objective to objective. You can encourage people to leave the zerg without forcing them to.

I’d go further and limit it to group members.

I’d also like to add that its not all casual care bear land. There are a lot of very good players there who take it seriously.

I run a 5 man in wvw. The reason we don’t spvp is that the conquest game type bores us to tears. Wvw is a wide open death match, and were just here for the fights.

This isn’t ww2 relived its a video game. If the developers can’t put fun systems in place through the natural course of playing the game its their problem. Why go through the trouble of designing classes when pushing 2, or is it 4? now, on a balista is the best thing you can do.

I’d rather be run over by a zerg than spend money to stand in one place furiously pushing one button.

I don’t mind people cutting their teeth on the zerg. But people should move away from that as they get better and want more of a challenge. Nothing kitten es me off more than people who are decent players tromping around in a zergball.

Any discussion here is academic, and I’m starting to just accept it. I hate it but killjoy is right. Anet wants zergs and doessent understand or frankly know what it would take to make a more robust game.

Wvw isn’t nearly up to daocs level if you just want fights.

And yes the general skill level is terrible. However, zerg busting and seeing how many people you can 1vx is a good time. Being in the 4/5/6 tier range helps a lot, its a decent middle ground to not finding fights and getting zerged all night.

Absolutely. The roaming community does it for the fun of it. Its a shame there isn’t more of us.

They also don’t do thief damage, are incredibly slow, have terrible condition removal, and fall over dead once you can spot the real one and dodge roll occationally.

I’ve played both extensively and mesmer is rocket science compared to thief.

I don’t miss the zergs but man do I miss the maguuma threads.

sPvP, standing in smaller circles and running away from fewer people. Sounds like fun.

In guild wars 2 carebears get to run from anything resembling an even fight and claim theyre great at pvp at the same time!

I think the nesmer more so than any other class with the possible exception of thief requires you to know exactly what weapons, skill, and utilities they used as you fight them.

That said, once you understand it all, dodge roll is all that’s required keep it competitive.

Its usually not this bad. Just a bad server combo. There are some decent people but its very few and far between.

Want to roam a trio? Stick to tiers 4/5/6. There are a handful of servers that have decent players and you will usually have at least 1 in the rotation.

I agree with the OP. Everyone is so afraid that they will be killed by a small group, your zerg has AoE’s as well, use them, there is no reason zergs should die to a small group ever.

Any zerg will have the capability of a small group and then some. The small group wiping a zerg is a rediculous argument, it just goes to show that even zerglings think they are terrible at the game.

Wvw is not in any way balanced around. We get changes based on what happens in spvp. So why are we going through such great lengths to ensure these abilities have zero impact on anything.

I thought you commanded enough people off cliffs to really make difference too.

The most entertaining posts are definitely Acelerion’s. Kid just logs onto forums, puts on this front like he’s the biggest baddest beast on the block but in reality is probably the most frustrated that DR is coming up short every week. Sucks how rank isn’t even worth bragging about. Higher rank implies larger and more frequent zerging and no has no correlation to player skill.

The issue we found in lower tiers is that the WvW population is too low. Sure the zergs are smaller, but there are portions in the day where you spend more time looking for a fight, then fighting.

Even T3 was getting weak at parts of the day, was still good during prime time, but late afternoon was far to slow.

That’s something I’m concerned about. I wonder if the lower tier being more conducive to small scale PVP is mostly borne out of there being, maybe, far fewer people in WvW.

Its not a problem unless you run more than 5. Less than that is nearly constant action.

Referred to as “the zerg” as in “where’s the zerg so I can hang out in it and continue to be a bad player” yeah.

Zerg has a lot of meaning though and its all about perspective. You guys taking 10-15 against 40 is certainly not zerging. Taking 10-15 to a mostly unoccupied zone to roll trios is.

Because of the players that play it. Leave the safety of the zerg once in a while and experience the rich combat system for the first time.
