I wonder how I am going to evade all the AOE’s Subject Alpha does on COE with a nerf like this….
I watched this for a bit… and then started crying. So, so true.
I really dont know how to explain how I feel at the moment.
Anet devs dont realize the emotional connection one make’s with their character. I love my ranger, that toon is basically my alter ego… but then this happens:
I joined a group for fractals 48 yesterday and the instance owner said “sho ranger, sho!” and kicked me out immediately. It didn’t matter that I was experienced in way higher fractals, or that I know how to play the class, is just that ranger’s are not “guardians”
Does all the people who say “rangers are fine” and “L2P” think that all the ranger issues are part of a mass hallucination from most ranger players? do they even main a ranger at all? I have been humiliated while playing my favorite class in this game. GW2 is, to me, by far the most disappointing game I have ever played, and at the same time one of the greatest games because of it’s expansive PVE world. I love the game, and yet why does it hurt my favorite class so much?
Anet, anet, anet anet, please…… put our shoes and see what it is to play a ranger.

Dredge fractal is the least liked fractal, and for good reason. In higher levels, their damage output is incredible, and only but a few parties I been with have done it without dying or wiping a few times. Dps is key here, a guardian, thief and mesmer to get this done easier, but I just dont think this fractal was well designed. That bomb sequence, as stated by the video, can be a real pain for non-dps groups or parties without a guardian.
By far the longest fractal, it needs to be revised. Most parties just use tricks to cheat their way in, and I never heard anyone enjoying killing that many dredge. There are people who, after reading this, will say: “Thats easy you noob, learn how to play….” well GOOD FOR YOU! here, have a cracker!
Hi Jon:
Please do not change the #1 auto attack evade, instead just improve maul by:
1- adding a blast finisher to it; It always seemed to me that maul SHOULD have a blast finisher.
2- Increase the damage of Maul
3- Increase it’s CD to balance it out. I wouldn’t mind having 30 seconds of CD to use maul if it was at least a blast finisher, which would do wonders in teams playing in melee range.
4- Make #4 be able to block and ONLY counter attack when I press the button again before the channel timer runs out.
Thanks for talking to us rangers, Jon

I would like to see more hat options. I think GW2 doesnt have a good variety of hats to wear. And Please, NOT TOWN HATS, but hat that can be used in battle. Also, that these hats DO NOT remove the characters hair!
I would like to see a general or captain’kitten, Anet can create a huge list of hats for players to wear.
Hi everyone:
Would’nt it be better if all of these discussions/ideas were placed in the discussion located here—
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Dec-10th-Balance-Preview/first#post3133133
I feel that maybe Anet will think that we will be satisfied with just the changes they have planned, but we need to let them know our pet concerns and ideas.
I would love for the devs to take a look at this video
This might help them understand how most (or some) of the GW2 community feel about rangers. Woodenpotatoes hates rangers so much, and even mentions that they are poorly designed. Most people feel this way, and I wonder if the devs are dismissing this as a massive hallucination or something similar.

QUESTION:
1—How do you guy’s feel about the performance of the Ranger Pet system at the moment?
2—If you were to compare, say, a warrior or a guardian to a ranger: What would be the advantage of having a ranger in a party over a warrior or a guardian?
3—What is your favorite thing about a ranger, and what is your least liked area of a rangers performance?
Fixes for dungeons are not exactly a priority in this game. At least thats what I can deduce from the lack of updates to existing dungeons.
Thanks Stale for putting such a remarkable documentation on how the ranger SHOULD be. Im hoping a dev would see this, although I feel it wont change anything.
I feel most of the dungeons have too many glitches, exploitable issues, hp sponge bosses, lack of interesting mechanics, and too many skippable mobs with little reason to kill them. Shouldn’t dungeons be a priority in Anet’s work list, since many people do run them daily?
The Good:
• Ranger pets received a considerable HP buff. I noticed how much longer they last on PVE and because of their longer lifespan they are a bit more useful.
The Bad:
• Ranger’s pets are not yet improved. The AI still sucks and it takes forever to get the F2 to work. Their damage is pretty subpar too…
The Missing:
• Ranger traits need to be revised.
• It was said the ranger weapons would be revised and even changed… what happened to that?
2. Ranger has not gotten a single needed boost to its skills and abilities, and the pets continue to be as useful as a rock.
I have to disagree with this statement.
Picking up a rock in this game and throwing it at your enemy is way more useful then the ranger’s pets.
Some rocks can even be used consecutively, so you can even perma-knock bosses!
You can play as a very capable ranger if you try, but since you asked for a more efficient profession, any other class will outclass the ranger. Take warrior though, they will always be cared for.
hahahha amazing video!
OP, you are so wrong on so many levels.. even the title is spelled wrong.
Should be just a tooltip error. I passed this along to the team, though.
Thanks!
Speaking of this SWORD CHAIN …. Can you tell us if it’s a BUG or not?—-that the attack chain locks us in the animations, and prevents us from dodging???
Can you guys EVER get this fixed or is it some engine limitation that Ranger and ONLY Ranger has to suffer from?
I noticed that rangers are meant to die in gw2, even the sword roots you in place to take a good and delicious beating from 100b of a warrior.
Also Vigorous Training doesnt work…Clap clap clap clap
You just made me cry……… clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap (sniff)
We just need to get on our knees and ask for mercy!
I will give you an example of how our class is looked upon by other players: I was on a fractal lvl48 when the party just told me “eerrr, sorry bro, what we really need is a GUARDIAN”. I just felt like… wow, can we contribute to ANYTHING at all in a party?
Warriors, thiefs, guardians, all them classes are amazing! why cant they also love the ranger class and check to make sure everything works properly?
It doesn’t help that we have no one to represent us during those “spvp state of the game” shows…
Will someone ever vouch for us rangers?
Problem: Root while using standard #1 attack sequence with one handed swords
Solution: Make the animation similar to the GS, in that the player has complete control even during the animation.
Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please.
Fix our pets.
Thank you.
Anet devs, please, please I BEG YOU for all the things you love…
FIX. THE. PET. ISSUES.
Congrats Luke, really well done! I noticed on your ranger run that your pet was like dead 95% of the time ^__^
Good laughs.
@Chessrook.8643
If you ever want to run a dungeon free of stacking, let me know in game or add me to your friends list.
I HATE STACKING. I like a challenge and I NEVER skip kholer or any optional boss.
Bad difficulty: Liadri, some dungeons (Arah, SE, the older TA, AC p2), Harpies in fractals
Good difficulty: Kholer, Lupicus, Subject Alpha and some other bosses, etc.
Please please PLEASE add hats! AND DO NOT REMOVE A CHARACTER’S HAIR when using a hat!
No…. more…. aetherblades!
If you need to make a run of AC, just PM me in-game. I do AC on a daily basis with my guild, and we DO NOT stack on spider queen and ALWAYS kill kholer.
They did increase the FOTM difficulty based on the reason that there are new ascended weapons.
I found the dredge and cliffside fractals fine when I tried them in a party of first timers but I’ve not ventured into many dungeons at all. I will do at some point when I’m feeling brave.
What level of fractals did you try? I do lvl 48 and lower, and sometimes it becomes nauseating to see so many dredges…
Well that’s a bad group, just imagine doing Arah without skipping mobs shiver
2X shivers for me
Please post your concerns regarding other dungeons as well~
Stop the complaints already. You guys havent even tried the dungeon and are already going bananas over the Foward Up path being removed. Some dungeons can only be fixed by DELETING them!
Can a Anet staff delete this post please? I moved it to the dungeons forum.
NOTE: This post has one goal: to inform the team who works in dungeons for Guild Wars 2 how their dungeons are. Please do not play the Anet fan and say their dungeons are perfect. They will never improve dungeons if we don’t let them know the issues that plague GW2’s dungeons.
Please write a list of bugs, issues and concerns in the dungeons, and please do not troll or harass the opinions of those who participate. Thank you all!*
1- Twilight Arbor:
Guys, please don’t judge the removal of the Foward Up path so fast, let us see if the new dungeon path is well designed, inspired and fair. You have to realize that not everyone is an elite as you guys are, who can finish up the Foward Up path like if it is nothing. That path was full of bugs, unfair, uninspired and boring to many. All of the paths in this dungeon need some revisions.
2- Fractals of the Mist:
• Dredge fractal:
This fractal needs some SERIOUS adjustments. Way too many dredges with incredible respawn times. Most people just hate it and cheat it for a reason.
• Uncategorized Fractal:
Those irritating harpies are just unfair: You can’t shoot them from far, they become invulnerable easily, and the fractal only favors certain classes that can reflect projectiles. Fix the harpies and reduce the amount of knock-backs they can dish out and this fractal will be fine.
• Volcanic Fractal:
This fractal has some strange videos popping in that can kill a player when the rocks start to slide down the volcano, plus the shamans have been a little too fast lately, even ignoring cc and knock backs lately. Plus, throwing the rocks at the Champion Shamman have a weird issue where they don’t hit the target and fall close to the edge of the little hill where it is at.
• Cliffside Fractal:
Most of it is really good except that the final two seals on the top can become hectic really fast because of the spawn rate of the mobs protecting the seals. Maybe just a tad bit of balance here can allow this fractal to be near perfect.
3- Ascalon Catacombs:
Many avoid AC path 2 because of the Ghost Eater boss. Sure some parties can manage to kill it, but it seems that this boss does way too much vulnerability, and can be fairly unintuitive for players without experience or a communication program (Teamspeak). Also, the cave troll is a bit overpowered, stunning with every single attack.
3- Cadecaus Manor:
It really needs to be improved (mobs need adjustments to fit their level requirements, the stealth part where you need to sneak past all the guards needs another look, etc.)
6- The Ruined City of Arah:
Oh Arah… all of it needs another look. Most of the fights in this dungeon are a mess. The Melandru fight is super irritating: Melandru shoots trees that for some reason have incredible amounts of health (and can actually move!), has monkeys that don’t die, green stuff that knocks you down indefinitely, roots that root you in place……… omg. Then there is the Grenth fight, which is boring and uninspired, and then Simin, which is arguably the most stressing boss in the game for no good reason. The only saving grace of this dungeon is Lupicus.
7- Honor of the Waves:
The incredible large pools of health from most of the champs are just ridiculous. Path 1 is easier compared to the other 2 paths, but path 3 is just horrid. Why doe the jellyfish on path 3 have so much health?
What do you guys think? Please post YOUR list of the worst dungeons and the issues in them below.
Hey everyone. I know there’s some folks upset by the decision to make this new level 80 path in Twilight Arbor take the place of the Forward Up path. I hear the complaints directed toward that fact. That said, there’s several reasons why we came to the conclusion we did.
From a lore perspective, the story of Twilight Arbor repeatable is a lot like a “what if?” situation. Who gets to the Nightmare Tree first? Scarlet is now present in the arbor, and that presence has a very tangible effect on how the Nightmare Court can pull off their race to the tree. Because of that presence, the possibilities are narrowed, and Fyonna will not be able to make it to the tree in time.
From a design standpoint, we want the Living World updates to change and have an impact on the world. Earlier in the year, Colin gave the example of blowing up a dungeon and replacing it. This is very much that example in action. Because the explorable paths of Twilight Arbor were very similar from a content perspective, we made the decision to create a new path to revitalize one of the existing ones. Forward Up was one of the least played dungeon paths in the game, and was the best candidate for doing something like this.
I know my explanation won’t make everyone happy, but I hope it at least gives you some insight into the decision we made. Everyone on the team is really proud of how the new path has come together, so I’m hoping you give it a try on Tuesday and let us know what you think.
I agree, thanks Anet!
All your claimes are false.
Ok… read the post again instead of trolling. Thanks.
Thanks Anet, now if only you guys can create hats…
Hmmm, Anet needs more talented writers it seems…
This is a new one for Hawk, character named Masked Cow, in color.
Unfortunately I will be closing my commissions post for a while. I wont be able to accept any more commissions. Thanks all for the support!
Aden
@ Kojiden: yes, these are 10G. I may ask for a bit more depending on complexity but so far is ok.
@Whizzle: At the moment Im available. Send a PM with your petition and image and then an in-game message with your name and the gold attached, and I will reply with an estimated date of delivery.
It’s been a long time, but I have two more basic illustrations for two clients:
Chikara Senshi and Taiki Yougosha
As always, I don’t draw them exactly as the images provided, that is what screenshots are for __
. Instead, I use creative freedom to draw characters based on what I sense is their attributes and personality (the clothes says a lot about a person’s character).
Aden Celeste
Race: Any
Sex: Any
Class: Any
Weapon: Aether and Azure flame
Both weapons are misplaced when you place them in the character’s back. Looks super weird… one side sticking out way more than the other. Please centralize this in the character’s back.
You guys cant be serious….
I have a ranger, and some parties I have been with do not use zerker builds. We tried Arah 4 and let me say, some bosses have so much health that it takes extremely long to dps them down, PLUS we have to deal withtheir instant kill mechanics.
yes there are some bosses that are boring, but their HP should NOT be increased, rather it should be balanced for all builds. Zerker build warriors will always melt bosses faster than anything, but they have the risk of dying quickly because of their low defense, yet low damage/high toughness classes should not be punished and left to dps the boss in about an hour. honor of the waves is an excellent example of such monstrosity of dungeon design.
Stop it guys! Our pets ARE useful….. They’ll… You know…. Well…
The liadri fight is discusting. why?
1- Camera is ALL OVER THE PLACE
2- Death from above, death from her, death from her shadows, death from the pulls those rifts do, the pet for a ranger is constantly dead, and again that awful camera
Has Anet tested this thing? shes just irritating with that camera!
Here’s the deal.
People will ALWAYS skip content in dungeons. People will always go for the speed clear. Why?
1.Dungeons offer nothing new – 1 year after this game has launched i’ve done hundreds of AC/CoF/etc dungeon runs. There’s nothing more in there for me as a player except the reward.
2.The reward system gives you your reward at the end – so you’re always going to have an incentive to get to the end faster.
3.The reward system is static. You complete the dungeon – here’s what you get. So it doesn’t matter that you did or didn’t do all of it. You could have skipped 3/4 of it and it would still give you that gold reward at the end.
Solution? Give proper rewards for different things achieved in the dungeon. Like what you ask?
a)Unbreakable – no player was downed during the entire run – 40s/each.
b)Bloodthirsty – all hostile NPCs killed – 80s/each.
c)Headhunter – all bosses downed in under 2 minutes – 40s/each.Reward the players for playing through the content " as intended ". If you want the dungeons to transition from a speed clear to a challenge situation you have to do one thing. MOTIVATE the players to want that.
Personally I do around 5-6 dungeons per day. I do it for the gold, I don’t really like the experience but if done fast it works for the rewards. Also another problem with the game in general is that there is no way to gauge exactly how good your teammates are. I can’t inspect them, see their gear, dps output, traits. This means I can’t form a serious team to try to go for a challenge with. I’m stuck with pugs that are always going to range from terrible to alright, and there’s no way to figure who’s who except for the usually imprecise Achievement Point marker.
Excellent ideas actually, specially the bloodthirsty and unbreakable reward system.
