Wow. That looks difficult to forge. I want two for my thief… how long does it usually take to all the materials and forge a single dagger?

I’m getting my weaponsmithing crafting up to 500. Right now, it’s at 320 or so. I need to know where I can get Vision Crystals and the Zojja’s… thingie that you need (besides the dagger blade and hilt) to craft it.
Edit: Are the razors character bound BTW?

Everybody that hates the NPE is going to take over the discussion after all the fixes have been released I believe. You’re going to see multiple posts by the same people that hate it, and it’s going to seem like a lot more people dislike the new changes, when in reality, it’s just those same people that really want to make their point across. And not that there is anything wrong with posting more than once, it is a discussion after all, but you get my point.
I mean you can see the evidence of it now, with people complaining in one thread over the subject, and then having some of those same people from that thread start up new threads on pretty much the same topic.
I do agree that some minor changes need to happen, but hopefully Anet doesn’t give in to the pressure and make a complete 180 to the NPE, because I believe some of these changes are good for the game.
So I can’t wait to chime in when all the fixes are done. Should be interesting.
I agree with you about this. I think it’s premature to gauge how NPE will play at the current time, because we do know changes are coming.
And yes, you do see some forum members making the same points again and again. That truly is not helpful to the review and discussion, in that the devs would prefer a focused, clear, concise statement rather than realizing “Wait, it’s that same person, saying the same thing for the 19th time.”
I don’t want to rain on your parade, but usually, it’s not the same person saying the same thing for the 19th time. There are MULTIPLE people saying “rollback the PS.” You have to learn to listen to important feedback that’s being said by multiple players.
Yes, most of them don’t say it in the nicest way possible, but when there are those who do, and many of them, then you realize you have a problem on your hands.

Repost from the “Communicating with you” thread:
What I don’t like about the NPE:
Personal Story
One thing I always hated about the Living Story was that it feels like timewarping every two weeks. The Personal Story on the other hand was able to win me over because I could decide when I want to drive my story forward. Now that is gone, now the story comes streamlined and packaged in small bits every time I level 10 levels.
The biggest gripe I have with the new system was that the old system was almost perfectly fine and could’ve been made perfect with just small changes. There is no need to “protect” the player from the story.
And if the rumors are correct, then they’ve cutted out part of the story and rearanged other parts, so they don’t even make sense anymore…
I agree wholeheartedly with this. I want to be able to access my story at any time. The PS was a great break from the grinding and gave a lot of experience, so it was both fun and rewarding.
However, I completed my Chapter 5 PS with my Thief recently. She got to level 51, and now I’ve been grinding her to level 60 as much as possible. She’s 56. And I don’t appreciate having to spend 9 levels of grinding events, hearts, etc. just to unlock Chapter 6!
I would like to see a rollback on this particular change. I think it would be more helpful than not to have the personal story be a break again.

Look, I do like the buff I got to my “Thieves Guild” Elite skill, but I would rather be able to get Elite Skills at level 30 like we used to.
All my characters are above 30. My lowest is 34 and she fortunately has an Elite Skill already. My Elementalist at 37, I don’t think does because I never went skill point hunting with him.

Okay, I’m going to give my feedback:
The Good: What was done right.
- The new icons for various junk items, which tell that which sells higher apart from the others.
- Trading Post – I’d prefer to have the Sell Immediately option selected first, but that’s a personal preference. Otherwise, it’s really neat to search based on class and attributes.
The Okay: What I mean by the ‘okay’ is that it’s not really needed.
– Giving rewards (money, items) at level up.
– Giving directions to PoIs, Vistas, Hearts, and Skill Points.
The Not Needed:
- Too many commander icons on the map.
Change Required: This means what needs to be changed.
- Personal story needs to be returned the way it was. Why? Forcing an unlock every 10 levels deters people from wanting to play it. I’m also level 46, and I want to play the next step in my story, but now, I must wait until 50. This is not progression, this is a step backward because people could do their personal story sequences at a lower level if they wanted to.
- Skill lock-down was not a good move. It needs to be reverted.
In Summary:
- Giving players options is better than restricting their options. This is why you have so many people complaining about the skill lock-down and the personal story—you, anet, have taken away options.
- Those two “Change Required” points are the main reason most people may not start playing again or even start playing the game for the first time.
Arenanet, I hope you take the time to read this post and carefully think about your own options and what the players desire. Thank you.

Um… as of September 9th, I cannot find my personal story marker anymore. Is there any way to turn it on? And how? If not, how am I supposed to find my story?

I’m using XPadder… I don’t think I can afford to buy another program.

So, my friend got an Xbox 360 controller for his PC and found that GW2 is a lot of fun to play on it. It felt more like an action-RPG and he said he would never go back.
I have a gamepad, but it’s a Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710. It basically is a Xbox 360 Controller.
Now, if anyone else plays with a gamepad, I have some questions:
1) How do I hook up my gamepad with GW2?
2) What’s the best button setup for the following characters: Warrior, Ranger, Elementalist, and Guardian?
Thank you!

After about 10-20 seconds of patching for today, I get an error report where my game stops. It tells me to send an error report about what happened. I’ve sent 3 so far (the “don’t send” option is grayed out).
What’s going on? How can I get this patch working?

Is there a possibility to buy something like a “Name Card” to change our character names soon?
Also, you’d probably want to put a limit on name cards so people don’t change their name EVERY day. :P

I’ve looked through the wiki, and I can’t find where to get Alpine Stalkers for a pet.
I was told White Paper Hills in Timberlane Falls, but… no juveniles. I’ve been told Mount Maelstrom, but I dunno how to get there.
Does anyone know where I can get an Alpine Stalker pet?
Thank you.

Does the staff/developers have a timeframe for when this feature will be available? I read in a thread that this feature will be available at the BLTP for a gem cost in the future.
Is there an EST for this feature?

I agree with Mithran. If done right, it won’t flood the TP and cause economic problems. Really, bosses should give item rewards for everyone that helps.
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
I’ve noticed that with Dynamic Events that have bosses that not everyone gets to loot the boss. For major boss events, I recommend that everyone that participated in killing that specific boss should be able to loot it/him/her.
Why you may ask? It would be beneficial to the players as they would each get a piece of equipment to sell on the TP or something they could use.
I know ArenaNET is very busy with other things, but I’m confident this would help. Thank you for reading this post.

Well, yes, you’re right. It IS completable, but I don’t know if the Broodmother is supposed to regen her health like that.
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
I tried to do this event with a bunch of other people on Fort Ashworth (server), but the Broodmother would go invincible after a little. This allowed her to regenerate to maximum health. We got her down to 50% at one point, but then she became invulnerable again, and restored her health.
Regardless to say, I left the event because there was no way to complete it.

I tried to make a Windblessed Longbow at the Mystic Forge, but…

Where can I find those?
Also, what level is the Windblessed Longbow?

What I mean by “reset” is, do rewards “reset” back to like 1 silver and 25 copper, for example, if you don’t do them repeatedly in a row?
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
Sorry for the double post, but I’ve been playing with the advanced settings with inbound and outbound rules to block gw2.exe from accessing that network.
Unfortunately, it’s not working.
I need to ask of the staff a favor. Can you go into my account and revert all the networks I’ve saved? I think it’s the only way to deny access to that one network.

Exactly, but ArenaNet has the word banned for naming pets (and possibly characters) with the word “bite” in it, which seems silly (hence why I brought in the StarCraft II Beta example in the first post).

I love the downscaling in this game. It’s one of the things that makes it great! You can play with lower level friends now and not steal XP.
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
I agree mostly. You still should be slowed down when trying to escape an enemy, but there needs to be a way to tell the difference between “I’m running through and ignoring you,” and “I’’m running from you.”
The speed slowdown should occur when “I’m running from you.”
Though, I’m not sure how Anet would do that…
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
When StarCraft II was in beta, Blizzard had the most ridiculous swear filter. You could not even say “transport” with the filter on because it would come out as “*****port.” Apparently, “trans” was a bad word. Blizzard lightened up on filter and made it better after many, many complaints.
I feel like GW2 has the same problem with the filter, not only with text, but names. I wanted to name my pet “Frostbite,” but the game wouldn’t let me, saying it was “inappropriate.” I didn’t understand why until someone explained to me that the latter part of the name was a bad word.
In truth, that word is bad (I actually had forgotten that), but the combined word “Frostbite” shouldn’t be considered inappropriate. I recommend that you, ArenaNET, should look into your filter for Guild Wars 2 and not do what Blizzard did to StarCraft II.
Fan Story – The Assassin of Rata Sum - Guild Wars 2 Screenshots - Vini Short Story
Here’s the thing. I don’t have internet at home. I’m referring to using an unsecured network that I can access from my home.
In other words, I can’t access the router. If Guild Wars 2 cannot access this unsecured network, it would help me play a lot less.
Edit: I managed to do it! Sorta… it’s something I could remove, but it stops GW2 from running on that network. Since it’s unsecured, I went into the Advanced section of Windows Firewall, made a new outbound rule, and said that the gw2.exe could only run if the connection is secure.
I tried it and the splash screen says “connection errors Retrying.” So, I managed to figure how to block it myself. Yay!
Technically, tsmith helped me figure it out by saying to use Windows Firewall.
Edit2: That didn’t work, actually. It seems to block secure networks, too. :S I still need help!
