This season’s ranked system made me realize how dumb the unranked matchmaking system actually is.

I actually like it and even losses despite you being just about the only one who knows what to do and going on can still be fun.

Everybody here who is complaining about legendries….. Seriously get a life! I recently returned to GW2 after taking a break and trying the new WoD… The fact is as follows…

Anet treats it’s customers a million times better than most MMO’s! No subscription fee required! Game quality is far above ANYTHING out there! In WoW you pay a subscription and are CONTINUALLY given crap for product! Then you get to watch as Blizzard comes out with new PHONE APPS!!! WTF???

So if the devs making new legendries gets your panties in a knot… I say again… GET A LIFE YOU SPOILED LITTLE BRATS!!!

Okay, I’ll just say this:

1.This isn’t like people complaining about having to throw away or vendor green runes and sigils or having to place a permanent gathering tool in the bank for an alt to pick up (speaking of which just stop it already! I mean what does that say about our society?) but it was advertised that for your $50 (keep in mind we bought the product knowing that we were mostly paying for future content in addition to what was launched) that new legendaries would be rolled out in regular (and implied reasonable) intervals.

2.Blizzard has a great infrastructure, support, and WoW is ancient history man and launched when Emo and Scene bands ruled the world. They’re currently working on Overwatch which looks very promising.

In LoL people play hundreds of games in diamond without ever getting to master or challenger somehow its fine there… yet here it’s a big issue that needs addressing… hmm…

Diamond here would correlate to Platinum in LoL whereas Diamond in LoL correlates to lower Legendary tiers and T7 Diamond roughly.

Revert Quickness/Slow on Finish/Rez

in PvP

Agemnon.4608

I say no to this BUT that stomping speed needs a 20% buff. We have skills like search and rescue that aid in rezzing.

It wouldn’t be a problem to revert if they nerf quickness access significantly (down to pre-HoT levels).

Only if they nerf chill and cripple access along with it.

The only mechanic that still exists and is stupid is the druid shout, only because there isn’t a solid form of counterplay

On revenant if you’re in Shiro you can phase traversal and cleave. If you’re in Glint and Shiro is on cooldown then the fire move and facet of chaos use can cleave or blow them away respectively. Due to stability however Shiro teleporting and cleaving is more reliable overall.

Speaking of downed the damage you take when downed should carry over somewhat after you’re rezzed or rallied with downed penalties, with a bare minimum of 20% HP after rez and if you take no damage while being rezzed you get the standard 50% HP after rez. Being rezzed or rallied would give necros 0% lifeforce so they’d have to build it up all over again if they’re rezzed.

I think Anet should set up a coaching infrastructure where pro players can tell us where we wen’t wrong. Dota 2 has coaching.

https://dotacoach.org/

Sometimes we can figure out on our own where we wen’t wrong but it’s the stuff that isn’t readily obvious and simply can’t figure out that we typically need help on like consistent trends. Usually whenever I fight a scrapper 1v1 I can only manage a stalemate, so I need help on beating them. All I can do is heal after their CC bursts, do some of my own, then they also heal up and we’re back to square one whether it’s druid (mender’s), tempest (mender’s), or revenant (marauder’s). If I can manage to defeat good scrappers 1v1 I might be good enough for even diamond since that means more nodes won for my team. I know most of the tells and have defeated scrappers 1v1 this season but last time I beat one in 1v1 in ranked was back in emerald. I can beat the occasional necro 1v1 but the opening has to be good and I can never let the advantage go since once the ball is in the necro’s court it’s far easier for him to keep it after I drop it (and against a necro there will be plenty of chances for that) than me to keep my edge.

You and I both know that isn’t true. Do the top pros play merely for the prizes? I think you better think it over.

" I’m certainly not playing for fun being crushed repeatedly."

Try unranked. You can get some much needed practice in. Where in your game do you feel you’re weak? It is better to practice one kick 10,000 times than it is 10,000 kicks only once.

So, here’s a radical idea. If you believe you are in “MMR Hell” due to being queued up with a bad team, why not make a group with the other people in MMR hell and queue as a premade? Should be an easy win if you’re all really skilled players who are just held back by your teammates.

This right here. Only problem is finding the ones on the right classes who play at the right times.

Luckily Anet gives players five character slots so everyone should have three available classes to play.

I have more than that, once for preordering HoT and another free one. I have engineer but have no PvP experience on it whereas my guardian and warrior have gathered so much dust I haven’t even touched them PvP wise in three years. Then certain playstyles don’t appeal to certain players.

All these kitten major league players in Emerald and Sapphire, just tryna keep a girl down

You have all these close 500-350 games that were clearly winnable if things were done differently

#post a match video

#posting in daily Ithilwen thread

500-350 can actually, unsarcastically be close in Foefire when they only get those points because of a lord kill.

Agree that there’s always something that could have been done better to win. I post an occasional vid but rendering and processing takes forever. I noticed the music was too loud so I turned it down while recording but not too much so. In this one for example (in 4k res) I won a duel against a druid to take back home but realize I shouldn’t try engaging off point too often.

They did bring an amber along so we were basically handed the win. At least it’s good to be on that side of the fence for a change.

Somethings I could have improved upon:

-Not engaging too far from point.
-Tighten up technique.
-Better skill timing and efficiency.
-Lots more.

And that’s just revenant, I’m just starting to get the hang of dagger/focus on tempest. I also sometimes post where the team and I were utterly humiliated.

Like a math teacher once said extra credit is not credit instead of. Get your homework done first and then do some extra credit. Bunny Ears and other good things during the March sale are an example of extra credit, or in our case credit instead of. Fluff is nice but you need to have a solid foundation to support it. Street Fighter 5 for example has very little fluff, the core mechanics and excellent balance being the main drawing point (since it’s mostly PvP) and what little fluff is there (story mode and outfits earned through beating survival mode) is good.

Guild Wars 2 likewise has some decent fluff already (Various story modes and skins for example) but some core balancing issues need to be looked at especially in PvP.

AoE soaking and countering autotarget abilities is the entire point of MM builds and skills though.

Then give the player something active. Rev staff 3 for example doesn’t lasts long, consumes energy, and needs to be timed properly to benefit from it whereas minions and other creeps can linger. By making minions and others less prioritized it increases the skill cap for those classes since you no longer have creeps obstructing you. If players want to mitigate damage then they should earn that mitigation my grandparents can press a button to summon minions for reflex free mitigation indefinitely too.

Alt accounts will always be an imbalance factor, regardless of the system. Because the system can’t differ between a new accont and an alt account.
But i think you overestimate the amount of legend player who go through low divisions over and over. Players starting at different points of the league and playing a different amount of games is leading to more imbalance (especially in low divisions) than those alt accounts i guess.

The good thing about an alt account is your experience and skill gained from time on your main will carry over without the baggage of all those previous losses effecting your MMR. Many of those games were from different metas and before HoT powercreep but those losses got ironed out, but then this current matchmaking system happened and really did terrible things to our MMR a blank slate is in order. I think an option to completely wash our MMR and win/loss record would be good since we shouldn’t have to buy another copy of the game to be disadvantaged by the lack of HoT powercreep.

So you want to buff revenants?

It would be a buff for everyone since everyone’s “max 5 people effect” skills will prioritize players. Imagine dropping a static field near a minionmancer and you daze a blood field, flesh golem, and lots of hounds but not the reaper himself.

When everything gets toned down to a proper level revenant itself will need nerfs. Basically everything but guardian and warrior need nerfs, and thief some nerfs but a net buff. Take away the passive evade near death in acro and replace it with a skill named stay tight borrowed from cheer leading terminology that would grant stability upon evading. Simply dodging wouldn’t grant stability since that’d be overpowered but a formal evade and the trait would have a cooldown to avoid stacking since acro and daredevil could have near perma stability even after just double dodging a rapid fire so that needs to be checked against.

Sometimes I feel really bad for Anet that they spent a lot of time developing this new PvP gamemode but then completely left it behind w/o enough polishing, balancing and advertising.

Everything should be brought up to thief’s skill floor and ceiling and if that means gutting AoE and conditions drastically then so be it.

As for stronghold trebs are way OP and creeps are way too important there. Nothing wrong with creeps per se but their durability needs increasing and trebs and guards having a massive damage nerf vs. them. Champion summons are a step in the right direction somewhat but they don’t seem to add too much apart from stealth or condition curing.

Some positives of stronghold:

-Doesn’t involve holding nodes so you can kite for as long as you want, making low mobility class’ weakness count more (though traps and minions still mitigate that somewhat so a negative there)

-Red Lord is one of the coolest characters in the game.

-Umm…Tybalt?

What do you notice about the picture? Shambling Horrors getting hit with precision strike even though I’d rarely ever conscientiously target them? Different levels of ally have different name colors: green in general, blue for party, and orange for guildies but all hostiles are red. I propose that creeps (PvP only) should have purple names and abilities that effect five would give priority to red names so UA if there are five PC’s around they’ll all get hit randomly whereas one PC and his creeps would concentrate the damage on the player.

In other words we need a second class of targeting for creeps so players get prioritized for abilities that effect up to five players.

U can get up to higher divisions/tiers due to lucky streaks or teaming up. U cant go down afterwards due to safeguards like not being able to lose tiers or divisions.

So a lot of players are stuck at higher divisions and tiers than where they belong. To make things worse u get grouped with ppl that are in the same boat. Guys that are stuck at a higher division than where they belong who end up in everlasting loops of losses.

The only real fix is to remove those safeguards so youre able to lose tiers and divisions at all levels. That way you create a natural flow and u you drop or rise untill u play vs even minded and skilled players.

Such a system would need to accompany scrapping MMR altogether or at the very least an MMR reset.

" I don’t say that I am perfect, but at least I don’t three-man cap close or try to steal enemypoint with an ele whilst said class is defending it leaving my fellow dps’ers die in mid because we only got 1 point etc.
You could argue that I just play bad, but when 4 people in your team have 0 points for an entire match then I feel it can’t always be me"

0 points = no silver, so I can see why they’d triple cap despite knowing it’s a bad idea.

@Lord Otto.

I played twice against at least one and probably two members of PZ in Sapphire within the past couple of days. They were on alts. I took screen shots and posted part of them on another thread.

With respect to the wings; If I can’t get them, then what is the purpose of playing in ranked? Be careful how you answer. Consider this: If everyone who is not Legendary stopped playing because there was not an adequate reward, you would likely need to wait hours for a match. The reality is that many are playing for the wings, otherwise why put up with this matchmaking?

Biggest thing that bugs me is that you keep trying to position yourself repeatedly as a defamatory punching bag for PZ players. Put in full time hours throwing matches on alt classes one week, and encountering a solo/duo with a good guild tag is the gripe.

Also, why you say S1 worked for you? You played full time then too, with matchmaking that pushed towards 50% win rate, and you had immeasurable lose streaks, and landed Emerald. So I don’t agree with your self assessment that you’re a medium skilled player, playing only meta builds. You are in the bottom 2% of PvP ability, I’m not going to tell anyone they can’t do something, but for how much you moan, I’m tempted.

It will be a really sad day for those that put the countless hours into learning their class and the game mode when literally every person can get the ranked PvP skin.

I wonder if WoW players post on the forums for months about how they can’t get the Gladiator flying mounts and rated Arena skins, which make GW2 PvP legendaries look like a cakewalk. It’s kind of a thing in MMO’s.

Considering that WoW has even more abilities to keep track of (making cooldown counting, downloading opponents*, and getting reads far tougher) and no active dodging I’d have to agree here. WoW was much harder in many ways but I haven’t played since Cataclysm. Alterac Valley and Isle of Conquest were very fun ;)

I want to see the OP upload a video. During an actual game we think we play much better and think we contribute more than we really do so it’s good to get objective. Some recommend for example that I should be more aggressive on revenant but to do so by necessity we need to be less stingy with resources (good bursts require energy consumption and putting stuff on CD) and giving myself less time to download the opponent (meaning get a feel for their style). In professional sports like boxing two pros get standoffish and take little potshots to see if they can create an opening as being too aggressive gets punished. That’s why I like autoattacking until I get a good read for an interrupt. I timed the staff 5 dodge just right to avoid moa. There are still many more tells on many more classes I need to learn if I’m going to improve more as a player. I still get moa’d a lot but I’m dodging it more often sometimes even in group fights.

I think they mean more aggressive though not too aggressive.

Then you still have to bait interrupts so you have a chance at a safer water overload.

Can confirm even in legend balanced games aren’t common.

to be fair the skill difference in legend is so huge between individual players

Maybe there needs to be a division between diamond and legendary? Leagues are supposed to have players of approximate skill level and we really need to have division drops. I’d rather be a Sapphire with a consistent reasonable daily win/loss record instead of a Ruby unfortunate enough to be on the lower MMR end for the pip range.

People gotta understand that the Devs giving props to a guy’s analysis on the problems with S2 matchmaking doesn’t legitimize every loss as a matchmaking problem.

To recap, Evan Lesh acknowledged the thread where the OP made a really great model, the highlight takeaway being that Glicko barely even adjusts your rating if you are constantly fighting matchups with a big discrepancy in skill, so it’s very inefficient to get out of low MMR in your PIP range.

The modeled 4.5% of the people who have tanked MMR in their PIP range (from memory) are not really given equal opportunity to get out, because Glicko only cares to adjust your rating a respectable amount for matches that are evenly matched, and determine skill.

This is the kitten problem.

If you’re trading wins, and come on the forums to complain that MMR isn’t on your side, and S2 sux, well, probably people will say it’s totally on you.

Shout out to the minority who are in the pit and experience huge loss streaks, ArenaNet needs to safeguard and prevent that from happening.

Tips:

Take breaks, do not queue into repeated losses. Try and lose people who you encounter that are practically on the enemy’s side.

Never do your off-class profession achievements all at once.

Play on peak hours as much as possible.

If life can allow you to do these things, you pretty much have a workaround to the S2 big issue. Other than those failings that the minority is caught up by, I’m sure the silent majority things S2 >S1 for sure. I don’t need to point out many other improvements made in S2, but I imagine S3 will plug that up.

S2 was not an improvement to S1. The improvement was to eliminate the bunker Mesmer/condi rev spam we saw in S1. The actual season wasn’t a big improvement.

The problem in general is that matchmaking is bad. Watch the video of the guy who made it to legend and shows the screen for every one of his games. I consider a good game where the winning team doesn’t win by more than 100.

How quickly we forget Amber shopping/group MMR tanking, or being able to be in the Legendary division by grinding enemies no stronger than average MMR.

Season 2 in my subjective opinion was two steps forward, one step back, (mmr hell for the 5% of players who endlessly lose games) but still what I consider a huge improvement for fixing loopholes and moving towards divisions reflecting skill better.

I originally thought season 2 was going to be good and it was up until mid Sapphire, but I hit Ruby a few days ago and win/loss/win/loss has been replaced with loss/loss/loss and I’ve strictly been queuing for the past week. Since there aren’t enough players to justify the current system and continuous losing drives players away I don’t like the idea anymore. I think division loss needs implementing but only after a complete MMR reset where people can actually go where they belong again. Problem with MMR in a team based game is you get paired with those of similar rating so even after you improve loads and get in lots of reading and practice your teammates won’t necessarily. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if your opposing teams are of similar rating since you’d be the carry but if you’re facing drastically better teams some of whom you even win 1v1’s against on point while your teammates just melt vs. those same people you know you’re underrated.

At first the season sounded very promising but after lots of big losing streaks (lots of people reported losing streaks way bigger than even mine) it isn’t so great anymore. It needs a complete scrapping, not a major overhaul since that would imply some base of the original remains intact, but a complete scrapping. I don’t care about staying in ruby, I just want the wins I’m due for already it isn’t fair to always be on the low end of the MMR fence. They say you can’t win if you don’t play but guess what? With a system where your team is determined by MMR, which goes down with each loss not playing at all is a vastly superior alternative to very probably losing.

Okay, lets say that is true. How are you going to fix afkers trying to lower their MMR?

I have suggested solutions to this in other threads and also suggested class balance issues in multiple threads:

We need to have either of the following match making system for ranked:

A) purely based on pip range and random selection between the range (in the long run everybody would get roughly same amount of “good” and “bad” team mates and opponents from the same pip range)

This would favor premades because you’re filtering out underpowered comps and even have the possibility of Teamspeak, which is a cheap way of achieving legendary if you can find players willing to team.

B) We also need a report function, which actually works. If players intentionally AFK or throw in matches, they get banned.

*I agree somewhat but it’d be open to abuse. We could just report people having subpar builds or simply for being bad. *

It doesn’t matter which algorithm we select, we also need to change how pips are gained. Current system is bad because it treats 0-500 and 499-500 loss the same way.* Too many players stop playing when their team is behind by 100-200 points, even though come back is still possible. We should use the system from Season 1, when you could actually even gain 1 PIP when you lost a much higher MMR opponent by a small margin. And you would gain 2 PIPs if you won by a large margin and lost 2 PIPs if you won by a large margin- The win and loss streak system was really not needed.

We need to scrap this type of league altogether. Unranked is way funner and allows for a much higher win percentage than ranked. Leagues were the worst thing I’ve witnessed in the history of gaming. Not just MMO’s but gaming in general.

When it comes to class balance, here is my short list:

Engineer
Hammer has too much goodies + dmg at same time, increase cooldowns of skills #2-5 by 20%, remove triple leap finisher from #3 (much less sustain with water fields), reduce overall damage by 20 %. Even with these changes most would choose hammer over rifle or pistol/x. Engi shield needs to have it’s cooldowns reduced by 20 %. Increase harpoon gun and grenade kit range to 1200 (engi is currently the only profession which lacks 1200 range underwater!).

Stealth gyro needs to have 1.5 s cast time. Reduce effectiveness of rapid regeneration and adaptive armor to tone down engineer sustain without gutting the core engineer. Engineer medkit needs a rework, make medkit #1 affect also engineer and 600 range 360 degree AoE heal, and reduce cast time of medkit #2-5 to 1/4 s with much improved projectile speed or make them 360 range AoE effects affecting engi + up to 2 allies.

Engineer doesn’t need any buffs. The entire point of nerfing an overtuned class is because it’s overtuned, giving compensation for it would just make it overtuned in a different way.

Ranger
Reduce heal from celestial avatar skills by 25% as they heal too much even if ranger has 0 healing power. Signet of stone take no damage reduced to 4 s. Reduce damage from HoT pets by 20%. Increase ancient seeds ICD to 15 s. Give pets a spirit mode when they deal no dmg and cannot use any of their skills, but are also immune to damage. It would be highly useful for WvWvW zerging + pve situations where AoE dmg is abundant.

I strongly disagree with healing seeds because condition damage is very prevalent and needs a counter.

Guardian
Make traps visible. Reduce trap damage by 20%. Numerous DH stacking tons of traps creates really unfun meta for wvwvwv. Spear of Justice, Wings of Resolve and Shield of Courage need all to be toned down.

Elementalist
Elemental Shielding should only grant protection to yourself. Burning fire needs 10 s ICD. Diamond skin should be changed: take 20 % less damage from conditions. Reduce invigorating torrents regeneration to 3 s.

Problem here is conditions are very prevalent, they therefore need corresponding mitigation somewhere. I say give every class a grandmaster trait like diamond skin hidden in their defensive traitline but instead of replacing a current trait it is in addition to it. So instead of diamond skin replacing Versed in Stone it will give condition immunity above a certain health threshold on top of a random Rite of the Great Dwarf proc.

Mesmer
Signet of humility effect reduced to 8 s (still very powerful as it can be cast even when fleeing and cast twice using with continuum split. Chronophantasma 10 s ICD. Confounding Suggestions 10 s ICD. Well of calamity and well of action deserve 20% dmg buff (to give mesmers more AoE dmg, needed in wvwvw and pve).

Mesmers don’t need more AoE damage, they already have way too many utilities such as portal, clones that are faster than players problem there being you will get confusion stacked to you and they walk around obstacles instead of shattering on them so they need a speed nerf and should only move in straight paths. Moa form toughness needs to be doubled while cooldowns cut in half as well.

Revenant
Facet of Light needs to be toned down. Cruel Repercussion should only 25% more damage (it gives guaranteed +50% in WvWvW). Increase face of darkness/elements/strength 20 s CD. Phase Traversal increase CD to 20 s and reduce unblockable time to 3 s. Enduring Recovery give 5 s of vigor instead, as it is too powerful for adept minor. I am not expert in revenant so I cannot comment more. Ventari felt weak to me.

Facet of light needs a complete rework. Make it a standard heal with a cast time where after casting you get your health back, none of this absorb back to full. Too many of these changes however would break revenant entirely. Facet of Elements and Darkness are fine as they are.

Thief
Reduce dagger auto attack by 15%, basically partially reverting the changes. Thief is really difficult to balance, because it has so many escapes and so much mobility, making it the best +1. If you give thief more burst or survability it will make other berserker/marauder professions irrelevant.

Reduce some mobility but still more than Revenant while giving some survivability.

And bring back the removed amulets! We need more versatility, not less.

No! Then we’re back to square one with the old bunker meta. At least Mesmers can die now.

Retiring from ranked this season. I don’t even care about making diamond I just wanted to get my elementalist achievement out of the way before season 3 but so far that isn’t even happening as my turn to win never comes up despite trying, there’ll be a big losing streak without a big winning streak being set up to fix some of the damage done to MMR. Sure we can always get better but if my only options are 2v1 at far or 3v1 at mid when teammates are dead on lanes and don’t wait up so we can charge mid as a group what then?

It’s been fun…wait, no it hasn’t and you can’t have my stuff. If Riot or Capcom buy out the franchise they might actually make the game worth playing.

These leagues are doing more damage then good.

I’m not sure your optimism is well founded. I agree they are doing more damage but don’t think that good will follow. My MMR is so irredeemably deflated and broken that I may as well retire from the game entirely since the only “fix” would be buying a new account or finding a team. Since no one wants your horrid MMR dragging them down that only leaves option A, which to have a fighting chance in this game requires spending more money.

I’m sorry but you are trying to argue a delusional point. What do you want me to say? I’m surprised crap isn’t censored lol.

Or other nonswears that could still be used to insult like garbage for that matter. Not because I agree with that choice but because of how over the top the filter can sometimes be.

Yeah I sometimes play on, with, and against revenants didn’t think that was it though. I have the issue on my druid and tempest too though. All those bugs still need fixing especially if Guild Wars wants to be taken seriously as an esport.

Ye so i tried Stronghold for the first time in this season and watch the screenshot, I just lost few minutes ago. Still awesome matchmaking guys? And don’t worry, I played a lot Strongolds before season lunch, i’m not unexp coz i bet many of You would like to write so.

Stronghold is very hit or miss. People that queue stronghold typically dedicate themselves to it especially teams (you were against a fourman and a scrapper). The worst is whenever someone gets behind your doorbreakers and no one else is there but you to defend them, then you know defending them is a lost cause so you proceed to kill theirs and if their whole team is in your lane you may as well.

Chaith, everybody who ever played pvp for any substantial amount of time would have moments where they know their own actions were a big reason for a win. I’m sure a person of your calibre would have even more of these moments than the average joe. You might even get to the stage of believing that you carried the entire team through most of your games. It’s not true though. You won’t win any game if your teammates don’t play their part too.

The thing is we only play from our point of view so we’re only seeing our own contributions so we’d naturally have an inflated sense of contribution. We know we did our part to win but we aren’t seeing the thief and necro winning far when we’re defending home in a 1v1. We are too engrossed in the fight to see and see, “The waterfall is yours!” and know they’re doing a good job anyway but we don’t see so we think we’re contributing more somehow.

Why it seems that almost everyone claiming to be in “MMR-hell” doesn’t even have proper keybindings?
I thought it is common-sense that the standart ones are terrible for advanced PvP.

They reached diamond so they did really good. I think he has a Razer Naga where binding 1-0 is reasonable as those skills are a thumb click away. The f1 and such skills on the other hand…

As far as I’m concerned, people have an overblown opinion of how good they are and they are also convinced that they should get to legendary as long as they keep queuing ranked. I don’t think that everyone should get legendary, and I think that what people consider “MMR hell” is actually the right bracket for them if they can’t get out of it. The fact that exceptional players can get to legendary without many problems on an alt account, which would have no MMR to “help” them, convinces me even more of this.

The inherent problem with MMR is it takes into account your past losses, even if they aren’t relevant to your skill level anymore. Game losing mistakes you made years ago aren’t the same mistakes you make today after you know better. When a legendary gets a new account they don’t have the baggage of all their losses from years ago and if they start late enough it’ll be an exceptional +4 bads vs. 5 bads for awhile. Ratings are volatile when you have a new account then after a few games it gets established. If you have legendary skill you’ll rack up more wins faster against better people and have a much higher established rating than on a main account where its first established rating was lower.

Ty for posting this Eura. However, as you can see people will completely disregard what you say to convince themselves it’s the system keeping them down, not their own skill level. I don’t think anything can convince them otherwise, even if an ANet dev came in here and straight up said mmr hell doesn’t exist.

So, from another thread where an Anet Dev came in and said this yesterday

This is a really great analysis. I appreciate all the work you put into this. We recognize the problems that the season 2 matchmaking is causing and are looking into solutions that will provide a good experience and satisfy our goals for the league system.

Yes I saw that post. Nowhere does he say that mmr hell exists, only that they acknowledge the issues people are having with the system. People don’t enjoy losing 10 times in a row, even if they’re part of the reason they’re losing.

MMR hell does indeed exists. Flip a coin 10 times and record the results. Chances are very slim that it’ll land on heads or tails all 10 times. Likewise the result of PvP is twofold: you win or you lose. It isn’t fun losing 10 times in a row and it isn’t fun when your turn to win never comes up except during that rare window when your unlucky streak has an illusion of ending.

does it mean mm hav trouble finding players similar to my mmr and may fetch me some garbo players ?

or ?

Not just that but also the chance for your opponents to be even better.
