Shadowmancer: scepter thief.

Vampire: Mainhand sword Necro (with a cool metal looking rapier. In before, “Bro that’s redundant they’re already made of steel” I don’t mean that definition of metal and you know it lol!) that is essentially thief light with some core Necro aspects. This sounds way OP but this is assuming a simplification for easier balancing purposes kitten much can already do too much.

Privateer: Offhand pistol ranger (so they can still use sword with it). Parrot pet will be the best in the game since it’ll have smokeskelk damage with a reveal pet skill. Sic’em is more of a prophylactic measure to keep one from stealthing instead of revealing the already stealthed so the skill isn’t redundant.

Ninja: Offhand dagger warrior with stealth (many of base warrior’s invulns nerfed for balance)

Priest: Offhand warhorn guardian. The warhorn would sound like a trumpet and focus on support and CC. Warhorn 5 would act like the ranger’s call birds warhorn skill but have little angels (human and asura) attack enemies by swooping down flying past them hitting them with a glowing whitish yellow rapier and cleanse ally conditions while healing while warhorn 4 AoE cleanses and single target CC. Brings the guardian back to his core concept and theme. Name is a placeholder though since priests are traditionally a light armored class.

Buccaneer: Dual Pistol Revenant who can create his own LoS barrier to hide behind.

Chaosmancer: Shortbow Mesmer.

I don’t normally run double pistols but just wanted to share what I think are the coolest looking pistols in the game.

And with my favorite dagger (so far) too. It has a good solid, weighty, practical look to it while maintaining cool artistic flourishes (so not too plain and looks like it can still kick butt) with a size almost approaching short sword territory. The dagger is the Kingmaker.

The Dandybluster looks like it’d have some real power with a somewhat hard to pull trigger with a nasty kickback whereas the other is a cool looking 17th century looking gun.

Pvp still boring on this game?

i dont see the connection between pvp being boring and the usual low rank whining about matchmaking and other crap

is the pvp boring? yeah pretty much i cant imagine doing more than 10-20 matches per week although some people are able to grind 100 per week easily while being stuck in sapphire

is the balance bad? i’d say its the most balanced season since HoT, and more balanced than the majority of pre-HoT timeline too, definitely there is more ridiculous bullkitten going on around but at least every class is able to pull it off

is matchmaking bad? nope, other than “git gud” there is really nothing else to say no matter how bitter or salty that phrase makes you

See when idiots like this just say matchmaker is a “gid gud” problem what they mean is.. Unless you can be on two nodes on the map at the same and 1 v 5 and win the whole match, you just need to “git gud”.

Won 3 1v3s my last match monday on a druid and my team still lost the match when all the other 4 players had to do was kill 2 kitten players for the whole match. By those means yes I need to “git gud” so I can be gud. On the other hand there are people who are giving farm animals sorry I mean lower MMR players grouped up on the same team to just smash for effortless climb to legendary.

I think that sums it all up in a nutshell.

10/10 Only plays GW2 when ESO servers are down.

You also have to remember that there are many different layers of skill. So someone rages at an ele for doing some silly things, but within the context of his MMR range those silly things worked for him, but now against higher level players he needs to adapt his play. One guy’s noob could be another’s pro. Someone could look at a random Mesmer and go, “How did he even make Ruby?” But that same Mesmer could win a 1v2 when he was Emerald (it’s usually Mesmers who win 1v2 anyway lol!)

The higher you climb the more strict rules there are for learn to play.

The highly negative experience only comes into play if it’s zero sum with stakes. This could mean pips or ranking for example.

and how I believe it should go. No, I don’t mean a gimmicky and artificial, “Do more damage and take less damage from X class” but rather overall organic mechanics and skill sets (some of it is already in the game such as Necro beats ranger, guardian beats thief, etc.) and classes that would fall outside of the immediate range (counter and countered) should be roughly 50/50:

Elementalist>Engineer>Guardian>Thief>Necro>Ranger>Mesmer>Revenant>Warrior and we come full circle to Warrior beats Elementalist.

Agree or disagree? (Note: this is for ideal soft counters for overall balancing purposes not if you think it’s actual) I agree in general, if a thief for example specializes in standing a chance against guardians he’ll lose some of his overall core competency for that specialized purpose, as in yes that guy won’t counter you as much but with a trade off. Thief and ele and ranger and ele should be 50/50 in this diagram. I also think potential elite specs should stay true to the (my imagined) formula as well.

For the pants dyes are flare (belt though gold fusion is great for a dark leather) shadow abyss for the shoes, enameled solitude for the pants, and algae, enameled longevity, and enameled jungle for the shirt since the greens go well together. I’ve found that eles are very susceptible to CC and burst. They aren’t really bunkers. They have great sustain but that’s different than high vitality and toughness.
The hard part about the ele is that they are really the best support class in the game and can make taking a point difficult if they are sitting on it with 2+ teammates.

Which is especially bad on a small map where they can trivially reach a side node.

At this rate I’d likely make Legendary but naturally the higher you go the tougher the opposition gets so that’d likely have a slowing down effect.

I also have trouble taking town bunker eles in 1v1s. I don’t find this annoying or unfair, because they are fully defensive, so it should take more than one player to take them down.

The problem stems from they have protection on top of fully defensive runes and amulet and even if you’re running full offense and interrupt the correct skills still have trouble with them. Full offense should beat out full defense eventually (counting Marauder not Berserker amulet) because if it can’t then full defense can theoretically live forever with a relatively small skill cap.

2. Eles who don’t use the standard bunker builds are useless. There is no room for build variety here because we NEED the bunker ele to win.

I disagree, a Mender’s Ele who knows how to dip in and out as a decent roamer healer and decent point holder can be really great for healing and damage. There are runes like Monk’s that can add healing power. Ele might need nerfs in places but buffed elsewhere so they’d still be just as good but in a different way. There are 20 weapon skills the ele has access to between attunements and four profession skills in the form of overloads, so that’s a lot of moves. It’s a shame if an ele can’t make decent use out of all them.

2) players don’t rotate away from the tempests and scrappers (if together) to break their formation apart

That’s a team effort though and not all classes are adept at disengaging. I’d count either one of them and of course both plus warrior.

The match maker is unfair but, realistically its probably hard to find 10 players that are equally as unskilled as some of the players posting in here.

I don’t mean it to sound rude but thats essential what is being asked. You don’t like the fact that you are being matched against better players so want anet to match you with players that are as equally bad as you are. Then that way you can coast to Diamond or legendary where you don’t belong.

No, with division drops people can float around the division that correlates with their skill until they get better. We need division drops but only with a complete MMR reset since many MMR tankers from season 1 still haven’t recovered while lots of smurf accounts hurt other players’ MMRs. So there’s lots of deflation and inflation. On a thief I was actually winning against a Primordial Legend Warrior (a soft counter where warrior should win) as a thief until he popped an invuln and I had to disengage to a node where a teammate was. Highest I ever got was T3 Ruby.

Anet please pay no attention to the OP. He’s clearly on very strong drugs.

Afraid of classes needing skill? Survivability is insane and surviving 2v1 on some classes takes far less skill than killing on others. In season 2 for example for a druid to kill a scrapper was a big feat that required great timing despite the extra damage coming from pets. Bristleback needed to fire in the downtime between reflects, one of which is on a six second cooldown, staff needed for some astral force and healing, and timing PB shot just right to interrupt the heal after the invuln.

What do people complain about mostly?

1.Too much powercreep.

2.Too many conditions.

3.Classes having way too much of everything. Why not take an offensive amulet? Perma-protection has you covered. There is too much going around from resets (especially) to AoE to CC.

We also need to reward tactical thinking and reaction time better too. If you attack someone and they proc Nightmare Runes then that’s cheap, unearned defense. What happens if you lose control over your character? The initiative goes to your opponent and now it’s as if they get the first hit even though they did nothing to earn it. Camp and intercept on druid? Sorry, Nightmare Runes feared you so that busted your plans. Intercept on thief? Nope, Nightmare Rune proc. That effect should only accompany actives with charge times and be the entire part of that skill since it’s a strong enough condition. This way, you earn your CC via skillful play and make a judgment call that fearing is a good call. Thief’s stolen necro skill has a cast time that can be interrupted though it’s a bit OP (it’s AoE) itself.

PENGU: Seriously, WTF?

We can consider them alternate face and body types of regular Tengu to keep things simple. There really aren’t enough penguin people in fiction (no Happy Feet doesn’t count they’re straight up penguins who can talk not humanoid penguins.)

LARGOS: Meant to be mysterious. They’re water drow anyway. Also, those wings would clip with literally everything. Still my second choice, though, because armor modeling wouldn’t be THAT bad.

Too close to humans (already have norn and sylvari) as well as their wings would have issues with current wings.

KODAN: Their VAs are just too hilarious. Also, as with dwarves, lack of customization options because only the Voice of Koda can be a color/pattern other than solid white.

They can make up different types of Kodan to justify different fur colors. Like we could have Koda from lands the series hasn’t even touched upon.

^This statement right here is complete evidence of being a scrub. You blame the Matchmaking if someone is good enough to actually 2v1 you? Wow.

They did it on Mesmer, which can reset its shatters with a profession skill, another that can reset cooldowns, and the shatters can be traited for superspeed and upon shattering (AoE effect) give torment an confusion. Not only that but the shield skill can block twice (perhaps explaining why they didn’t use any skills, who wants to waste burst when the blocks are up?) so Mesmer winning 1v2 has to be the most common one. Also, would a DH shredding two thieves even count?

Pvp still boring on this game?

Agemnon.4608

I don’t know if it’s balanced but it sure is boring that there’s not a lot of viable builds anymore. So if balanced means everyone runs the same exact build then I’d rather have it unbalanced. Also I find it very frustrating how fast most of my teams die, I just really don’t see the point in everyone getting 1 shotted… how is that fun, I know that’s what a lot of people asked for but I seriously don’t see how it’s fun or makes any sense.

The one shot is likely offense vs. offense an lots of offense needs stacking with all the on demand protection with tanky runes and amulets floating around on top of lots of sustain and invulnerability skills. I think thief damage needs to be reduced by 15% across the board (except for sword/dagger) but have a very slight net buff (except for auto attack) despite that since everyone’s sustain would be nerfed.

I talk “stay here on point”, and the braindead in my team leaves the point to run around, no capturing points.

Sometimes you just have to intercept bunkers before they contest a point where they’d be really useful. If you’re a squishy you’re going to need to step off point giving them free decap whereas if you fight them while they’re going to the point you have more freedom of movement to disengage or go to the other point as needed so the bunker’s advantage when he reaches the point is minimized.

Chances of reaching Legendary?

Agemnon.4608

I’m not “stuck” in Ruby yet as I just got here but I’ll try playing at different times and it’d make sense. Teaming is always good in random there’s always a risk of getting people who feed mid single file. On ele everything feels more despaired in bad matches since you know where it’d be great to rotate but can’t get there or even shouldn’t go there so mid could go from unfavorable to equal. I also don’t care for Cleric’s amulet.

I’ve played a bit of druid myself this season, which worked out well many times. I’ll usually switch to druid if we have two or more thieves on the team.

Chances of reaching Legendary?

in PvP

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

Chances are slim. Worse than season 1 or 2.

Howso? Sapphire T5 was a nightmare in season 2 but only a day of casual play season 3 got me out. I got teammates who were even basegame spec whereas this season I have primo and exalted legends on and against my teams (some of the matches against former legends were in our favor too)

I’m not saying the chances are great of course but it felt awesome that the MM deemed me worthy of teaming with former Legends (some of whom are still Ruby and even Sapphire themselves). However, the big difference is I made Ruby the past two seasons (stopping at T2 and quitting ranked in the final week) but didn’t play ranked thief during those times.

I’ll try finding a team but it can be hard. I have a video of my Ruby crossing up but the play was sloppy but understood to disengage and help the Mesmer take far. I kept track of an event’s dynamics typically and knew when to get out and get back in. The game in general was one big mess but it was a semi-secure win. I got top point defender so I perhaps stayed in the teamfights longer than I should have. I still need to stop keep pressing a button and having it repeat a move when I want it going only once.

Sometimes matches feel very rigged and know it’s going to get worse from here on out since the competition in mid Ruby (where the higher end players of my pip range are drawn from) likely won’t consist of dragonhunters who challenge druids on far or necros who get bursted down by thieves before they could enter reaper shroud or druids who should last longer than they actually do (daredevil vs. druid seems 50/50) and that’s just factoring in 1v1’s. Soon enough I’ll have to stop solo’ing far since people will actually know how to fight thief.

Chances of reaching Legendary?

in PvP

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

Yeah I tried Ele but people seem to just run away from heals or auras and I get focused down too much without anyone peeling in many games whereas on thief I can do actual disengage and decap at important moments. You know what needs to get done but no one is doing it and can’t yourself since you’ll get intercepted. Though I’m hitting higher tiers so I’ll likely get more mileage out of ele again. If thief is bad (vs. three DH comp for example) I’ll switch to druid, revenant, or ele.

Ele is the best class in the game overall but you need a good team to work with since supporting clowns vs. non-clowns is an uphill battle.

Chances of reaching Legendary?

in PvP

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

I have a 50% winrate and I just made Ruby. With just 20 days left in the season however it may look doubtful but then again I won against teams with Primo and Exalted Legends (and Illustrious but for our purposes unranked doesn’t count) and even had some on my team (suggesting the MM deems them in my MMR range?) so there’s hope.

Edit: I don’t run staff in PvP I was just taking some pictures with it.

they should do their “special ticket skin” bs with skins people want since ages… such as fused skins and stuff and not with simple (but totally good looking and i love em to death) skins like the privateer ones. But what do i know.. im just a gullible clown who actually bought gems till i got enough scraps together to buy me 5 of them. But seriously.. screw you a-net. Wouldn’t have done it if it wouldn’t be a decent looking and not overkill pretentious set. Heck even the sizes are alright this time… and no shortsword daggers or anime claymores

Sometimes less is more but I really want longer dagger skins. Most daggers really don’t look that great and some are outright too dull or short. I really like the Kingmaker though, looks like it has a good weight to it.

As far as pistols go these look like the best ones so far. Privateer and Dandybluster seem to go well together though I don’t typically run double pistols.

Also the claymores are from ascended crafting or ascended weapon chests and wouldn’t be in a BLC.

You can apparently get Black Lion skins from them circumventing the need for tickets already so that’s cool (I got a Chaos Mace the other day ^_^ ) so I’d definitely keep that in. I don’t think I’d add anything per se (not that I can think of immediately anyway other than maybe 10 or 20 of a single T6 mat like Powerful Blood) but rather take away the tomes, most boosters except for heroic (and buff it by a couple hours), teleport to a friends, and large crafting bags.

I know this sound crazy but how about they get rid of the ticket scrap BUT make the actual ticket have the same droprate as the scrap???

Not a good idea because skin prices would crash, and they’re already low enough as it is.

Everyone plays necro or warrior?

Play reaper to counter berzerker. Play daredevil to counter reaper. Play herald to counter daredevil. Play berzerker to counter herald.

Play chronomancer/scrapper to offensively support countering teammates.

Play tempest/druid to defensively support countering teammates.

Play dragonhunter for lolz.

How the hell does daredevil counter reaper. Necros in general have a lot of AoE and create a no go zone for thieves. Not to mention they are impossible to burst down thanks to their health sponge.

It really depends on the environment too. The big problem with necroes in general is they have way too much condition access via corruptions and conditions native to their skills. Thief can dodge and cleanse as well as kite while necro is in reaper shroud. Since most run Nightmare Runes (A fear relying on your opponent simply attacking you?! Wonder why it’s so overwhelmingly popular lol!) you can try getting it to proc with shortbow from a safe distance but haven’t tried proccing it with shortbow 3 but hopefully the evade frame would pre-cleanse the proc.

More skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

I think we need fewer skills. Let’s take a look at what all the classes can do:

Thief:

  • Stealth
  • Teleports
  • High burst Damage
  • Traps
  • Venoms
  • Mobility King

New and Improved thief:

  • Teleports
  • High burst Damage
  • Mobility King

Warrior:

  • Condition AoE
  • Single target CC
  • High passive (the best in the game, thief runs shortbow but it’s telling that warrior doesn’t run his equivalent the Knight or Barbarian Amulet amplifying his already high defense…maybe Spiritwatch meta if it enters ranked?) and active defenses
  • Ranged DPS
  • Stances
  • Outright invulnerabilities (subset of number 3)

New and improved warrior:

  • Single target CC
  • Best active and passive defense in the game
  • Stances

Engineer:

  • Oozes passive procs
  • Turrets and other gadgets
  • Excellent CC AoE
  • Excellent self-sustain
  • Reflects
  • Kits

New and improved engineer:

  • Greater emphasis on turrets, bombs, and gadgets (active rather than passive play so maybe replace Function Gyro with a CA like form that requires energy build up and wears an exoseleton or exo-suit like in Call of Duty.)
  • Reflects
  • Kits

This rewards the engi’s strategic thinking by optimizing turret placement

Elementalist:

  • An expert at nearly all an a master of healing and big AoE zoning fields (creating big no-go zones due to their damage like Air or Fire Overload)

New and improved ele

  • Reasonably good at nearly all and a master of AoE zoning fields

The class just feels too strong sometimes, unless I’m on a thief or rev or even druid and manage to take one down. Then there are cleric ele’s who know how to make the most of their defensive resources so I disengage not wanting to waste time (it’s usually always the red names that +1 instead of my team anyway).

Maybe a surgically precise subtractive design is the unexpected direction they were talking about?

New race idea: Pengu!

in Lore

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

It’s well known that so much in the world is unexplored and so it isn’t a stretch to imagine there’d be cold weather Tengu with penguin features elsewhere. Here’s my lore on them:

An evil and malevolent force wielding great mastery over fire attacks the Pengu’s homeland, but why (they were on a strong leyline nexus at the South Pole but the player isn’t supposed to find out until later). In a desperate attempt to ward off the evil fire beings their mages unlocked from the vaults a spell to transform their particular tribe into ceramic. The ceramic Pengu, now with sharper claws and very strong fireproof bodies rent the fiery demons asunder, but the war isn’t over yet…(enter the need for the player character here). Not liking looking the same the ceramic Pengu decide painting themselves different colors (justifies weird and wild penguin colors not just the traditional black, white, and orange)

Who was it that attacked? Primordius? You’re lead to believe so, but it’s actually what I believe to be the final boss of guild Wars 2: Balthazar, the fire god! Humans were used as his pawns for centuries, but now they will take no more manipulation and now stand united with the other races to overthrow his secret tyranny! He was also manipulating the six dragons the entire time too.

Ithilwen try putting together a 5 man pre made and see if that fixes your problem, it’s simple enough, you haven’t tried every avenue to achieve your goal. Yes the matchmaking is flawed, but not to the extent you believe a lot of people have gone on losing streaks and recovered, I know for a fact a single person can carry a match in some cases, I have had to do it on both my Thief and my Ele so individual skill does come into play more than people give it credit for.

And again just because you play a lot of matches does not mean you do deserve the wings, I have no clue how you playing over twice as many games as me yet you cannot progress, I stop playing pvp once I notice my matches deteriorating and come back a little later since I will get matched with others.

IF you run on atleast a 4 man pre with decent players, you will win 80% of the time. This dude is right.

If you still lose this way I have no idea what to say anymore.

And.. PvP is supposed to be 5v5 anyway, you will never ever carry a team if 4 people are incompetent. NEVER.

But LoS and vantage points, and mazes add counterplay and flavor. If it were possible I’d like the carry the orb map to have a dynamic layout to avoid teams solving and figuring out the layout but since it’s inevitable on a static map one would have to balance around that. A plain and open area is good though for certain maps but I agree with eliminating or even just replacing certain secondary objectives. We need some alternatives to point capturing. For a straight up deathmatch to be viable classes need to be radically altered to avoid excessively defensive speccing.

You shouldn’t gank a wrong class for the most part but rather a wrong person as far as ganks go.

New Map Ideas

The Search and Destroy mode would have an attacking side and a defending side. There would be no respawns and the goal would be eliminate the entire opposing team or charge at a couple of points where the defenders would have 45 seconds to uncharge. It would be a best 4 out of 7 and there’d be no respawning during a round and teams switch sides after a round.

We can also make another map kinda like Spiritwatch with an orb in the middle but traverse mazes to reach it and bring it to the enemy’s node. You can throw and pass the orb in this mode. Unlike Spiritwatch however there are only two nodes and they can’t be capped and they don’t contribute to score, but are rather more like goals. You can also throw the orb at an enemy so they’re locked out of their class skills until they drop it. The map would have many inclines, dead ends, and choke points.

Trimming the Fat

It seems that Guild Wars 2 has deviated from its core concept with the HoT elite specs’ power creep. Efficient and deliberate cool down management and good timing are supposed to be the core concept of the game, but you can lay an AoE under an opponent or spam boon corrupt or do countless things where an inefficient use of a skill isn’t going to be punished, because hey, you hit someone and the cool down is short enough anyway.

Here we can distill classes into their core concepts and rework or even remove some traits that deviate from the game’s core concept.

General-

  • Currently the game has many amulets and rune sets that do various things. I have compiled a list of amulets that can be removed as they no longer follow the game’s core concept:
  • Any three stat amulet. They have fewer stats overall than the four stat ones.
  • Wanderer’s Removed
  • Rune of the Flame Legion reworked to give burning upon hitting instead of being hit
  • Rune of the Ogre removed
  • Rune of Vampirism removed
  • Condition duration replaced with ferocity on Runes of Lyssa
  • Rune of Rata Sum removed
  • Rune of the Eagle buffed to 12% extra damage against foes with under 6% health (PvP only, would adjust if it became too strong)
  • Rune of Earth removed
  • Rune of the Dolyak removed
  • Rune of the Forge removed
  • Rune of Ice reworked to cause Ice Nova upon hit, cool down raised to 50 seconds
  • Rune of Speed now gives power instead of vitality
  • Rune of Rage removed, seems useless or simply redundant in light of certain traits and sigils
  • Rune of the Flock also removes 2 conditions on each nearby ally
  • Rune of Scavenging removed
  • Rune of Orr poison proc now 4 seconds
  • Rune of the Krait removed
  • Rune of Nightmare removed

Warrior:

  • Shield block has no cool down, instead holding it up consumes a modest amount of endurance. You press then release the button and only hold it up as long as needed (since it competes with dodges and dodges are superior to blocks anyway maybe it should have its own resource or slow endurance regen?)
  • Tactics and Discipline traitlines were removed. This is part of an ongoing effort to remove different classes’ traitlines, perhaps taking elements from those and placing them in the remaining ones. All classes will have four traitlines now.

Elementalist:

  • The Earth and Air traitlines were removed. Instead, Fire and Water will share a traitline along with Air and Earth.

Air and Earth will have these traitlines:

Minor- Zyphyr’s Speed

Major- Zyphyr’s Boon, Serrated Stones, Elemental Shielding

Minor 2- Earthen Blast

Major 2- Aeromancer’s training, Tempest Defense, Geomancer’s Training

Minor 3- Geomancer’s Defense

Major 3-Diamond Skin, Stone Heart, Fresh Air

Fire and Water:

Minor 1: Soothing Mist

Major 1: Burning Fire, Soothing Ice, Stop, Drop, and Roll

Minor 2: Sunspot

Major 2: Cleansing Wave, Pyromancer’s Training, Power Overwhelming

Minor 3: Aquatic Benevolence

Major 3: Powerful Aura, Pyromancer’s Puissance, Cleansing Water

Revenant:

  • Invocation and Retribution were merged, Salvation and Devastation Merged

Invocation/Retribution:

Minor 1: Invoker’s Rage

Major 1: Cleansing Channel, Improved Aggression, Planar Protection (lol)

Minor 2: Unwavering Avoidance

Major 2: Equilibrium, Incensed Response, Dwarven Battle Training

Minor 3: Empty Vessel

Major 3: Rolling Mists, Steadfast Rejuvenation, Charged Mists

Devastation/Salvation:

Minor 1: Mutilate Defenses

Major 1: Vicious Lacerations, Ferocious Strikes, Blinding Truths

Minor 2: Targeted Destruction

Major 2: Nefarious Momentum, Assassin’s Presence, Eluding Nullification

Minor 3: Serene Rejuvenation, but has been reworked to increase power to allies too

Major 3: Dismantle Fortifications, Swift Termination (I personally run this), and can’t really think of something from Salvation to put here since it’s way too specialized for Ventari.

Engineer-

The engi can simply do so much and has lots of passive procs. I want it to keep some survivability but steer it in a direction where gadgets such as turrets are encouraged as that’s the core of its gameplay:

Tools/Explosives

Minor 1: Evasive Powder Keg

Major 1: Reactive Lenses, Glass Cannon, Granadier

Minor 2: Mechanized Deployment

Major 2: Takedown Round, Shaped Charge, Aim Assisted Rocket

Minor 3: Explosive Powder

Major 3: Siege Rounds, Shrapnel, Gadgeteer (reworked for striking instead of being struck)

Alchemy/Inventions

Minor 1: Cleansing Synergy

Major 1: Health Insurance, Over Shield, Auto-Defense Bomb Dispenser

Minor 2: Transmute

Major 2: Mecha Legs, Backpack Regenerator, Inversion Enzyme

Minor 3: Alchemical Tinctures

Major 3: Advanced Turrets, Stimulant Supplier, Bunker Down

That’s all I have for now. I seriously looked at the Firearms and Arcane lines and didn’t know what to do with them but I can definitely see them being underpowered after the change. The overall goal was to distill the classes into their core concept by trimming much fat by merging trait lines (and by necessity deleting certain traits, thereby forcing players to make decisions relevant to their class’s core concept) such as eliminating many of the passive procs and keeping those that enhance certain abilities. The engineer may no longer be able to proc Elixir S when struck below a health threshold, but with appropriate turret and kit buffs along with a scaling down of power creep across the board wouldn’t “need” the skill.

I have also merged offensive and defensive traits in Elementalist (besides being thematically opposites) so they can have a real choice between great offensive or defensive lines so they can get more out of the class. Diamond Skin is excellent vs. certain comps, but Fresh Air in some matchups can actually go farther for example and the changes aim to strike a better balance overall (not just with ele) between offense and defense within one traitline while also removing skills that detract from the core gameplay.

I obviously didn’t get to all the classes but I needed to start somewhere.

I think MMR should reset because non established ratings are way more volatile and don’t have the loss baggage from months or years ago weighing down your MMR. Breezing to legendary on a smurf account happens because their knowledge and skill carries over whereas on their old accounts they live with the consequences of their past self’s losses.

If MMR were reset then there’d be no need for smurfing.

Sudden Lag Issues

Yep two people have issues. Super likely it’s Anet messing up.

When other games are smooth and seamless you know the issue isn’t on your end. I played 3 different games today and 100% of my lag issues were in Guild Wars 2. No, the 8 frame input lag in Street Fighter 5 doesn’t count since I disabled V-Sync and everyone else has it anyway.

Personal score doesn’t mean much (no offense). I remember being scaled up early sometime season 2 and we had a couple of primordial legends in that game, yet I had the highest personal score and lots of “top” stats. Sometimes it may even be indicative of something bad, like if I have top damage on a thief I know I stayed in a teamfight too long (though getting top healing is weird on a thief or rev especially with a ranger or ele in the team but rez healing counts so…)

If anything I likely hampered the team since I only got Ruby in season 1.

Guardian already has all the best mainhand and two handed weapons so there’s not much else to cover as far as cool weapons go except maybe off hand sword. Pistol is cool but doesn’t fit guard that well. Warhorn can be made cool though and the privateer warhorn looks cool.

Agemnon.4608

1.Quaggan 2.Tengu. 3. Regular Pengu and Ceramic Pengu. In a far off land to the south the Pengu are close relatives of the Tengu with penguin features and are roughly the same size. A subset of Pengu to defend themselves and their Emperor against a fiery threat used magic to transform themselves into ceramic to gain invulnerability against the threat and sharpen their claws in the process (in before penguins don’t have claws on flippers they still need digits for tool handling and they’re at the end of their flipper arms). The threat still looms (why waste a good narrative?) and the Pengu can use your help…

I can see issues in places such as clipping as they weren’t meant to mix with other types but I really want to mix the Acolyte leggings with my heavy Phalanx boots and Honor of the Waves shoulders and carapace body pieces.

I don’t want to say bad, but we all need to find where we’re weak and fix it. You might want to upload some ele footage so we can get context behind the numbers. It’s still a new class for you but don’t be afraid of being original while remaining practical.

Of course there’s the other side of the coin: put LeBron James on a team with children against a high school varsity team and he’d likely lose, but it’s doubtful the skill gap is that huge in Sapphire so every improvement goes a long way. Yes your teammates and opponents will largely stay the same but with each improvement you close that gap between your team and your opponents’ team.
