I wonder why all town items were disabled?
It means that the workaround for the Vampirism rune bug can’t be used (4th-slot effect stops working after res until you switch to town clothes then back again), making that set worthless in WvW.

WvW isn’t meant to be a sport – it is a spectacle.

Think roman coliseum, or WWW.

then you’ll understand that 2v1’ing, corpse-emoting, JP camping, spying, uneven playing fields, blowouts even, all make perfect sense and proper entertainment.

Removing the scoreboard would probably go a long way to keep it focused on the fun.

Bank Slots (character-specific) and Bank Tabs (accountwide) will be very useful down the track, think of them as your real estate.

Careful with the Bank Slots – you’ll probably only want them on your main character, and since you are just starting out you might end up shelving the character you put them on.

The Transmute Crystals (blue) will be necessary to look nice when you’ve reached max level, and if you go for the 25-crystal deal you’ll almost certainly use them all
- but DO NOT BURN THEM until you are lvl 80; use the free yellow transmutes you get from completing zones until then.

lol this is the fix?

The 4 bonus should be moved to the 6th
(20% chance to cause Confusion on hit, 15 second cooldown)
- in the 4th slot would go the +15% confusion duration
The confusion-on-interrupt should simply cease to be.

I’m suspecting the balance team is partly from GW1 where interrupts were carefully meted out.
Here in GW2, they can be spam-on-CD, which for some classes is very short indeed.

Still, it’s cool to hear an answer either way. My main hesitation was how much nerf, which in this case moves Perplexity from broken to merely OP.
8 secs sounds just the right timing for my thief to regain init for another round of headshots, so these things are definitely on the shopping list.

Items

Additional recipes for ascended back-item pieces have been added to the Mystic Forge for players who don’t play the fractals.
All of the ascended back-item pieces that required 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence can now be forged with Bloodstone Dust instead.
A total of eight recipes have been added.

Update says all the vial recipes can now use dust,
then in the next sentence says only eight have been added.

There are ten in total (for backpieces, that is)

likely that those requiring Claws were omitted since the original Traveler stats no longer exist, meaning if you want Celestial, Dire, etc you’ll still need a Vial.

With that said. I wouldn’t be offended at all if I saw a human wearing a sylvari cultural tier 3 set, because it doesn’t take anything away from me.

That sounds awesome, and something I’d probably drop gems on.

Non-humans could use the recently-reverted versions with all-dyable areas, and the sylvari can keep the originals that adapt to their glow.

To take that concept even further, would love to see some medium leggings available for my heavies, and some heavy/light coats for my adventurers.

if we could convert to gems that be GREAT! karma just seems like a waste for the normal player. the million of it was not hard to do in the year of launch.. just nothing to spend it on.

You can convert it to gems!

trade karma for the orrian boxes, which contain some very sellable mats + even the junk is worth a bit.
You can then trade that gold for gems.

As others have said, keep at least 200k in reserve; you never know when you’ll want to outfit an alt, or some content in the near future may require bucketloads of it.

Apparently everyone forgot about Sigils of Generosity and Sigil of Purity.

Counters to this are already in the game, but everyone want to nerf stuff instead of fight against the meta.

Great job guys, worst game community 2013.

Rune of perplexity got ZERO ICD.. so you re-apply 25 stacks in 2-3sec after its been removed…

and, even with close to 95% crit chance, on average you’d have to trigger confusion twice to get the sigil to proc (not to mention giving your opponent more opportunities to interrupt in doing so).

According to wiki, these things can proc even before you have any conditions on you, wasting the cooldown.
(same for Purity sigils)

So, equipping two of them is actually counterproductive.
With other on-crits like Fire, Air, Blood – two sigils means that you’d be more likely to proc, but with two Generosity/Purity sigils you are actually less likely to get a meaningful proc by doubling up.

Not sure what you mean by “stack”

You can equip two of them (even two Superiors) if you really really want them to proc, but they’d share a cooldown which means that as soon as one takes effect, both will be on cooldown for 10secs (as will all other cooldown-sigils).

so you can’t transfer two conditions at once with them.
The second sigil just gives an extra chance if the first didn’t work.

Do you mean that an off-hand crit effect will proc soon after Torment?
That’d be cool if intended, since they only add one stack.

It’s probably bugged, since it doesn’t proc at all on an underwater weapon (another bug).

Of the stuff mentioned by OP I only have the golem. Deleted other stuff. Cause it seems useless now. (And if they make future releases they give you different stuff cause it would be unfair if only people with the old stuff could play it).

Golem only cause it spawns and says stuff each time. So it still does something. (But haven’t checked now that Halloween achievements are removed – if it does nothing now then I’ll delete it as well)

When I activated my leftover golem yesterday, it disappeared!
So, at least that one item resolved itself.

same here, the Torment Sigil has no effect when equipped on an underwater weapon.

Tested it on targets underwater and above surface, with crit% > 50% and no other cooldowns.

Best Yellow For T3 Medium?

Since the recent sylvari cultural update, you don’t need to use Flare to get a fluoro effect.
Any pale bright colour will glow spectacularly.

Try Pastel Lemon or Lemon Zest.

For the darker parts, you don’t need any midnights or Abyss either – a dark brown eg Heirloom oughta work well enough, perhaps offer better contrast than blacks.

though if you can afford T3 then dye price shouldn’t bother you much

They are easy to tweak, just talk to a speed-booster in any city until you get the personality you want.

Right now they have no effect on anything other than NPC dialogue choices.

It’d be cool if personality actually had some use in-game.

One way this can be done, is with allied buff-priority.
Right now, AoE buffs affect party members first – this could be expanded to prioritise matching personality types second.

For most people, personality will still mean very little.
It’d have significance for members of groups larger than a party (eg a guild); they could all tailor their personalities so that they’d be more likely to receive friendly boons.

lol…. so your solution is to condi removal it with a pve skill, triggering the damage from those 25 stacks of confusion, and within 10 seconds of combat they’ll all be back.

I transmuted mine onto the strap that comes with a backpack set

Xanthic’s guide is awesome.
Crafting will not “build a bankroll of gold”; in general it is a goldsink. I mostly use it to level alts.

Tried this out, on initial click the cursor cannot be moved, so all the “cast-on-release” does is delay the activation until release.

Would have been more useful if the cursor could actually be moved.

Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug, or is this intended?

In which case, I’d suggest, join a guild and ask your commander/s what they’re wanting for their team setup, they will love you for it.

Your server will find its own equilibrium; you won’t get anywhere near the top without bandwaggoning, but you will find WvW experiences that the top levels can’t get.

OP, since you do PvE as well, that is the best source of recruits. Bring your PvE-only friends into WvW and show them how glorious it can be.

What you do not want, is transfers. Especially not en masse. If they will transfer in, they will, eventually, transfer out – taking some of your original populace with them.

races and professions are gonna be a matter of personal preference and experimentation.

What will probably make a difference when you start, is to begin in a busy server.
That means, when you select your world, pick any of:

- for North America

  • Jade Quarry
  • Sanctum of Rall
  • Blackgate
  • Tarnished Coast

or for Europe

  • Seafarer’s Rest
  • Piken Square
  • Riverside
  • Vizunah Square
    (note that those last two have high German/French populations).

One of the most magical things I recall from beta, was how new & busy everything seemed. So I’d recommend starting in a busy server.
There are other more practical pluses and minuses to stacked servers, but it’s easier to transfer to a quieter server later, if you prefer, than vice-versa.

My suggestion would be to make it an aquatic weapon. People tend to forget about this, but even if the stats aren’t what you would like in a terrestrial weapon just about anything would be better under water.

the blue will be pretty underwater

Otherwise, put it in that corner for the day when stats become more balanced .. I believe that conditions are being looked at soon, in terms of caps and such.

  • When you use a healing skill, gain 3 stacks of might for 10 seconds. (Cooldown: 10s)

To transpose similar effects onto Perplexity, we’d get something like:

  • +28 Condition Damage
  • +20% Confusion duration
  • +55 Condition Damage
  • +20% Confusion duration
  • +100 Condition Damage
  • Cause 3 stacks of of Confusion for 10 seconds when interrupted (Cooldown: 10s)

They’ll probably only be good for Mesmers then, but I think that’s what they were intended for in the first place.

well, uh, hate to say it but if you’re just starting off you might as well begin in one of the stacked servers
(for NA that’s Jade Quarry, Blackgate, Sanctum of Rall, or Tarnished Coast)

Not only will there be more people, new & old, but if one day you ever want to transfer, at least it will be cheaper to go lower.
If you start somewhere else and then in the future decide you want to try T1 for WvW, it will cost you 1800gems.

It’s weird. My friends and I have been checking at it still says it costs 1800 gems

then your server is currently “Very High”, not “High”.
(maybe it started out as “High” before the discount, but has gotten an influx of transfers?)

High-population server transfers were 1000 gems, now reduced to 800.
Very high servers remain @1800.

I’m posting this topic here because I’d like to discuss it, not merely suggest it in the suggestion forums and have it dwindle down rainbow road within minutes by the next nerf this, nerf that, mounts here, mounts there topic! (sorry, no TL;DR)

I’d like to discuss: Remove World versus World.

Now woaah!? Before you go all “What the hell! How dare you! I bought this game for this feature you lil insignificant ****!” I didn’t really mean remove, just an alternative, a drastic change to the core mechanics.

Hope I got your attention, here goes. Most people know, WvW is a great feature with a lot of potential. But it has its flaws. Now some would argue the biggest one are the blobs running around, or perhaps some are extremely bothered by some unbalance among classes. However, I believe the largest concern for the most fervent WvW players and casuals alike is; the unbalance among Worlds.

I’m a WvW casual, I do a little bit of everything but don’t play that much. I just finished my adventure along the US worlds and have recently returned to my EU home (Piken Square). The Tier 1 worlds seem okay right? Apart from the massive amount of players, they often are on pretty equal footing. But when they meet lower ranked Worlds, they just steamroll over everything and not much fun is gained there. We all know the problems and annoyance.

But to be honest, I’m at a point where I look at WvW and think “nothing is going to fix this imbalance, it’s just the way it is and it’s how a World versus World would look like”. This is why I thought of the following, which I’d like to share with the community.

  • Remove the concept of World versus World.
  • Introduce Alliances

In every WvW round, there’s 3 sides (Red, Green, Blue). These will be the factions (sound familiar yet GW1 players?). Conveniently enough, the lore of GW presents us with 3 sides as well. Red will be the Order of Whispers, Green will be the Vigil, Blue will be the Durmand Priory.

Players can choose to represent one of the three Orders in the WvW battlegrounds. This is done on all Worlds. Rather than representing your World, you will be representing and fighting for the Faction you choose.

  • Single players choose one of the three Orders to represent (not tied to the one in your story-line, this is the Mists man, anything possible!)
  • Guild (leader) choose to represent one of the three Orders (all members in the Guild automatically represent that Order)
  • Alliance (leader) choose to represent one of the three Orders (all Guilds, and therefore all members of the Alliance automatically represent that Order)

and to all the people complaining of server loyalty, this new system won’t force you to leave your server, unlike the current imbalanced system which will only over time polarize into the handful of top servers with “real” WvW plus a host of ghost or PvE-only servers.

I’d just like to make a note of one thing that I think people aren’t considering when they transfer to stacked worlds. You will not, repeat will not, be able to receive the reward based on overall world place in the league, unless you achieve the meta achievement for the season. If you aren’t able to get into WvW much, you won’t get the rewards. So it is absolutely taking a risk to transfer to a world that has a large WvW population.

If overall world place is part of the meta, only the stacked servers will even get a shot at it.

If I’m reading you right, you purchased a Plush Quaggan Backpack Set, which comes with a Plush Quaggan Cover + a white-level backstrap?

You don’t need a transmute for it!
Just doubleclick the Cover and apply it to any back item, ie the statless strap if you haven’t anything else.

Later, when you do get some decent back item, you’ll need to transmute it normally.

Bundles are a good idea, then each person could feel their own individual input made a difference regardless of how they are specced.

A simpler alternative could be to add a turret or two – then the whole event would be less vulnerable to trolls/afk’ers.
If one more turret would make Teq too easy, then maybe their role is too pivotal in the first place.

But its safe to assume the ban is somewhere around 2 weeks for people who used it, although someone claims to have done it 3 times and gotten 3 days, even though I posted 3 times and got 2 weeks with no other infractions.

your intentions may have been noble, but understand that Anet views public posting of exploits as far more damaging than doing them.
A shame that the malicious abusers aren’t getting two weeks as well.

ah well you learn, if anyone requests proof of an exploit, they are trolling you.

you probably got the drop before all MF-items became accountbound with updated stats.

I think that the new version of Drakevenom (if it still dropped) would have Assassin’s stats (Prec/Pow/Crit) http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Drakevenom, but interestingly they are no longer on the TP. Maybe it’s been removed altogether, though can’t see why since other previously-MF-items are there.

Essentially you now have a bow that you decide what the stats are, amongst a small craftable selection (Berserker, Rampager, Rabid, Carrion, etc).

one of the things I liked most about GW1 is that we could clear an area and leave it nice n peaceful, allowing us to admire the scenery unmolested.
Here in GW2, the gorgeous settings are kinda spoiled because we can’t stop to smell the flowers, so to speak.

If the respawn timers were say, doubled, that would help deter botting and maybe DR could be eased a bit.
