Have you tried disabling the Automatic Restart ?(Control Panel → System → Advanced system → Startup and Recovery → Untick Automatic Restart).

Done with gw2 download? Can you monitor your CPU speed while playing gw2? see if its throttling down?

Try to run everything on stock and disable settings that OC your cpu.

Haven’t checked the HD usage though thanks for info as well might do a test run later lol. Also afaik there’s an issue on performance specially if you have shadows/shaders/reflection on high turning it down a notch usually solve the fps drop.

We’ll that might be the problem either he’s offline now or in an overflow server. You can either PM mods/admin here and request to clear out the last mail yo have send. You might “lose” your last mail though.

Just a heads up even with i7 3612qm you wont have stable fps on Ultra settings specially in wvw and large events.

Do you have any friends nearby playing GW2? it’s either you can copy their GW2 folder to check or Fresh GW2 download. Thinking it might be those corrupted dats.

If you know the last person that you have send the mail ?Is he online now? Also ask him if he’s an overflow server else let him change map to non overflow and send you a test mail. Did he also got your last mail? both of you should send test mail from non-overflow maps.

To who did you send the last mail? Was he on your home server as well? or different server?

Are you running any overclocks? either CPU or GPU? Have you tried setting the FPS to 60/30 instead of unlimited?

Temps? What location are you getting 15fps? Have you tried changing maps when you’re adjusting the settings? Disabled Shadows/Shaders/Reflections/Post Processing and set fps to 60/30 then change map? I have a slower CPU than yours and patch after patch I don’t get much changes in fps (probably 1-5fps change)

Is the system crashing a lot? It’s kinda weird that you have a lot of corrupted dat files. Did you just copy your gw2 or fresh download?

Guys I think you should stop win 7 vs win 8 squabble. If the OP wants to use win 8 it’s his choice.

Just upgraded my old ATI 55 70 to a Nvidia GTX 550 Ti. Its still just a mid-range card but it was only $50 bucks on Craigslist so for that price I just couldnt pass it up.

Anyways, I can run smooth at 45+ with everything maxed out and Full anti-aliasing. Its like night and day looks so much smoother and more detailed. and no lag even in populated instances. Im telling ya, im hog heaven with this new card.

Q: Is GW2 such CPU dependant? supposedly its coded for 4 core CPU, but I dont think its optimized that great. Also, I think it uses DX 10 , which isnt as demanding as DX11.

It’s CPU dependent but still use DX 9. Game engine is heavily modified GW1 engine.

Once downloaded just extract it to another folder and run it. Once it run right click on the icon from notification area and pick Multi-Display Power saver then on target GPU check GTX 470. On Full 3D application right click on it then browse for gw2.exe

I think this might be your internet provider issue? Afaik canada have throttles or Bandwidth limit? Friends and I are from asia-pacific at most we’re getting 150~180ms.

Set everything to low then limit your frame to 60/30 accept the changes either change map or close the client then run it again. You can try adjusting each settings afterwards.

I have the same issue.

Using a 260 GTX, I’ve tried the most recent(non-beta) drivers, as well as all beta driver versions since, to no avail.

Q9550 OCed to 4 GHz
4 GB DDR2 RAM
128GB SSD with 40 GB remaining, plus 2 TB traditional HDD storage space

It’s a bit of a complicated build, but I’ve tried running off the SSD as well as one of the HDD. Since other people have the same issue, I’m assuming it’s not an issue with corrupted SSD files(which has happened in the past, very infrequently).

My graphics card is well ventilated, and never runs into its ‘hot’ zone. I have graphics on the lowest settings, forcing windowed mode and 60 fps.

I’m coming to the same conclusion as Xenos. It’s a memory issue, and for whatever reason GW2 doesn’t like the 32 bit system with only 4 GB of RAM, even though the min spec suggests something like 2GB is ok. I technically have 8 GB of RAM in my computer, and I used to run Vista 64-bit, but now I’m on 32 bit Windows 7 so I don’t see all of it anymore.

GW2 is the only thing that gives my computer trouble(as far as crashing, I know I need a new graphics card to get the best of DX11, but I also need DDR3 memory, which means a new mobo, and I don’t need a new processor, but I’ll be forced to get one…essentially any upgrade for me is a whole new computer). The Q9550 I have is never put through its paces. Its been stable at 4 GHz since it came out, which was several years ago.

Yeah, I think its memory. Maybe a 64 bit system with all 8 GB would help. It could be the SSD, but I’m placing that around ~10% probability.

If you can try afaik you can still use your Win 7 32bit key for Win7 64bit.

Pentium D from intels are the bottleneck as per suggestion upgrade your cpu/mobo/ram.

and this game needs to be optimized why you ask cause ive been at 4.5 and 4.7 with my 3570k oc’ed and i get better frames at stock clocks (3.8) weird…. go figure mind you people did say in beta that theirs a few odd cases out their where some computers will run better and get better fps at stock closkc

No, that means something is not set right in your overclock. Check what it’s running at in-game (my guess is it’s going to be 3.4GHz).

lol so wrong i did this 4.5 and 4.7 test for a solid month with occt tests, furmark for my gpu gpu-z up cpu-z up task manger up intel burn test, line pack hw monitor up. good temps proper vcore volts and cpu-z showed 4.5 and 4.7 or i should say 4500Mhz x45 multi and obviously 4700Mhz 47 multi you sir are wrong im not a rookie when it comes to oc’ing i did my calculations properly nice try though.

I think what Anet forgot to mention is what resolution suppose to be on that minimum. You can probably get atleast 30 fps if you play on 1024×768 up to 1366 × 766 with the lowest setting, higher resolution tends to tax the CPU and GPU a lot.

I’ve tried at 1280×1024, 1024×768, and window. None work at all…

Overclocking really helps any shape and form. If you have the current or probably intel I core series your CPU Overclocks itself specially CPU demanding task (Ex. Gw2) this what they called as “Turbo Boost”.

If there’s a group then report all of them.

What resolution are you playing in? and what location do you usually hang out to get 15fps? I have a slower machine than yours and getting 20 fps~25 fps at lions arch (1920×1080 reso, E6300 + 560ti) what version of cata are you using? Have you tried 12.8? or 12.9 beta? perform a clean install for gpu drivers.

You have to report them one by one though.

That’s why it’s called minimum. Most of the problems you see here are probably user settings. You must also take accounts that everyone is not playing on the same resolution.

Try toning down your settings. Specially if you’re in WvW or Large Events.

Click on the Bot and then on the Top part where it shows the Bot Name right click on it then click report.

1. Run the gw2setup.exe and pick the directory you wan to install gw2.(Default C:\Program Files \ Guild Wars 2 or C:\Program Files (x86) if 64bit OS). Close the Launcher after you install it.
2. Go to the GW2 install Directory and right click on gw2.exe -> Create shortcut
3. Right Click on gw2 shortcut pick properties and look for the target line add Zelta’s suggestions. Click apply.
4. Run the Shortcut not the gw2.exe and see if the it continue to download.

EVERYTIME, in ANY MMO, where there are people with high-end rigs complaining about poor framerates (RIFT, Age Of Conan, SWTOR, etc, etc), there is ALWAYS this magic phrase.

So it seems to me, that 95% of PC owners have trouble with their hardware. Even though we all run PROPERLY OPTIMIZED games just fine.

Battlefield 3 ? Runs great.
Deus EX ? Pretty flawless.
Grand Theft Auto IV ? Not so much.
Brink ? Not so much either.
Shogun 2 ? Same story.

All very different breed than GW2, but I hope you get the point.

I think the problem would be game engines and how it render things. For the most games you have listed BF3 and GTA IV would come close to any MMOs since the environment are dynamic or open world. Other games are static or the assets are fixed.

Well let’s compare BF3 (64 max players) vs GW2 World vs World ( 300 ++ players). Imagine 300 players in one location your CPU/GPU needs to render everything (Models, animation, effects etc) vs BF3 which only have 64 players at max at which current gen cpu/gpu handles fairly well. I think that’s why they reduced the the distance you render object to somewhat 100-200 meters?

Now if you compare it to ex Deus Ex most of the time the only dynamic objects you see are the NPC (probably less than 10 attacking you) and some environmental objects ,that’s why you’re getting stellar performance.
