Can you attach your dxdiag as well? As have you installed the usb driver for the headset and updated the chipset of your motherboard perhaps?

What motherboard are you using? and power supply(it matters)?

An upgrade would be :

i5 processor probably i5 3570k ($200~) (check your motherboard first)
+4-8gb additional ram (40$ ish)
Nvidia 660 GTX ($239) – check newegg

Are you guys doing events in Overflow? Try changing maps or traveling back to your Home Server (Look for maps that aren’t in the overflow then relog.) It may take some time to refresh.

Are you using 32bit OS?

Jute? One area – Queensdale – Beggar Borrow be sure to bring a friend or two.

Playing in window mode? F1 windows help shouldn’t be triggered when playing gw2. Check for your laptops utility.

Win 7 SP1? There’s something wrong with that. Your system would have similar result both in win7 and win 8. My brother tried both win 7 and win 8 both clean installs and he never got any performance gains in games. Only noticeable difference is the boot times.

Still, his observations still matter if anyone else i having the same problem and would like to give it a shot as a last resort. Just do a new partition, install win 8 and GW2 and see what happens.

Probably yeah. I’m still thinking its driver related issue been testing win 8 since Consumer preview and gotten used to the MetroUI so far no issues with games. I might do a partition and recheck win 7 fps vs win 8

Q6600 + 460 GTX + 8gb ram
E6300 + 560 ti
i740qm + 460m GTX (upgraded to win 8 )
i5 26xxm + 540m (return back to win 7)

Games tested :
- Dota2
- Guildwars 2
- Diablo 3
- Battlefield 3
- TF2
- Stacraft 2

Tested with both Win 7 and Windows 8 doesn’t gain any fps from games just faster boot times. Afaik there’s no major revision in windows 8 if you check winver (from command prompt ) its 6.2 , while windows 7 is 6.1 (XP is 5 and vista is 6)

I think people should stop the blaming game it won’t help solve anything. I wish people would see the big picture here, Anet like only have 300 people? servicing like probably a million+ users? and afaik we haven’t had a major downtime since launch.

Problem is user. User installed too much programs and too many processes running in Win 7 that’s why it’s slowing down. If you both compare fresh install of win7 sp1 vs win8 you’ll notice that there’s no performance gains in games.

Where does the installer came from? CD? or thru accounts.guildwars2.com?

Are you using a laptop perhaps? Also have you tried using the other usb ports?

Try
1.Go to your gw2 folder then right click on gw2.exe -> click create shortcut
2. At the created shortcut right click again then properties add /clientport 80 to the shortcut target line then press apply.
3. Sample – "C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
4. Run the shortcut see if it downloads.

Also try turning off UAC or run the shortcut as admin.

Yes we have tried to take it back but they wont take it back cause it is opened software. We explained to them that the key isn’t working but there isn’t any valid proof to them that it is not working ya know? They told us to contact the people who made the game cause Target can’t give a new key….

That’s insane then? Afaik my gamestop store would let me return gw2 if it’s not working (30days + original receipt). Isn’t also a bad business practice? They should change the cd and serial and they should be the one handling the issue about the serial not working since you’re a customer who bought a product that doesn’t work.

You can then note to self never buy from Target again. As for the solution try to PM the mods/admin here with your ticket number see if that helps since forum is kinda swamped with game issue.

Afaik it’s normal for 7200rpms drive. I have an SSD and loading times vary from 5-10sec vs my desktop pc (7200rpm) would turn 15~20+sec just loading lion’s arch. As per suggestion you can try defrag or stop processes/programs that you’re not using.

Thank you Arghore, I sent information in to Anet. The situation has gotten so bad now that sometimes I can’t even get past the initial loading screen without the game booting me off again, so I hope they have a solution.

Try to attach the game advisor log files. For most the solutions were :

1. Try connecting directly to your router and switch off your router firewall (turn it back if it doesn’t help.)
2. Update your drivers

Don’t know the exact model but I have a 500gb hardrive. 64g left of space. Mainly only running mumble and gw2 when I’m playing sometimes chrome.

I have not tried defragmenting in a long long time.

Well that’s one of the problem try to defrag it and atleast free space (HD should have atleast 20% free space) Try turning off mumble see if that helps as well. Make sure you also have atleast 4GB+ rams.

If you want to have a faster load time invest on a SSD (They cost around 100$ for 120gb these days). Windows and some games loading times should be 5x-10x faster.

Have you tried returning the product to target? Afaik you have atleast 30days to return non-working cd/serials.

How much ram do you have? also your harddisk space and model? Have you tried to defragmenting it? Are you also running any programs that use your hard disk heavily?

or Update your laptop chipsets driver (check manufacturers site) then download the vga drivers (Also from the manufacturer website).

I’m using 306.20 for both my laptop and desktop so far it only blackscreened on my desktop (1x so far). Afaik the best drivers I found working fine are 295.73, 296.10 and 304.7x and 306.20. Do a clean install btw when checking with the drivers.

Is your computer bundled when you bought it? or did someone assembled it? Temporary solutions would be :

1. Pick “Best Performance” – then set no shadows/reflections , turn off post processing and you can set subsampling to native.
2. Upgrade your old dual core to old quad cores,($60-$90 from ebay?) but you have to check your motherboard if it’s compatible. (You can use CPU-z to check your motherboard and what model it is.)

Long term :

- Buy a new processor probably i3 32xx or i5 35xx , z75 motherboard and 8gb DDR3 ram. (Should cost around 200~350$) You might wanna check your powersuply as well.
- Keep your 260GTX for now and if you have the budget upgrade it (660 or anything under $200~)

Have you tried running everything on stock (GPU/CPU)? or limit your frames to 60fps ingame?

Try running your cpu to default values. Have your tried running Prime95 and passed it ?

Try moving out out of overflow or changing maps to divinitys reach. Had this problem in WvW last night and just went out then bank was back again.

Old quads perform ok with gw2 (Q6600 460gtx , 30-40fps average) and new dual core SBs are on par with old quads it’s just the old Duals got some problems and as gosu have said it’s minimum requirements.

Perform a clean installation for AMD drivers. There’s also a 12.9 beta drivers you might wanna try that out.

When your run setup click custom installation → Perform Clean install.

Is your UAC turned off? else if not right click on gw2 shortcut then run as admin.

It’s a known issue specially on large wvw fights. The problem also lies with your CPU it doesn’t have enough horsepower.

Do a custom install then perform clean installation then reboot your laptop. See if it helps.

Hmm I’m thinking did you install all your chipset drivers as well? Even with SP1 there’s some drivers that are still missing or it’s recommended to check manufacturers own driver vs win 7. Also read that there’s a new 12.9 cata beta drivers.

New gw2 install or just copy from external HD?

Have you tried what have other suggested? Like connecting directly to your router? or disabling your router’s firewall?

Standing still anywhere = 110 FPS max (min 100)
Turning 360 degrees = 96 FPS max (min 68)
With lots of players,NPCs around = 80 FPS max (min 58)

All settings maxed.

Indeed, first time when I load the game or map, FPS drops to 7 FPS for couple of seconds (1-3) while it “loads” or something, but after that, no problems.

Was your processor OCed? or stock?

Im extremely new to the game (today) but are you saying that Elementalist has a viable melee fighting option? Taking into account that they are apparently the softest armor but highest damage class.

They have a dagger+dagger option and some traits that gives toughness or armors.

Anti-virus? Have you check windows update btw? Can you also check if your system drivers and chipset are up to date?

E8400 at 3.00 Ghz and HD6870 2GB and im running on 10-15 FPS normal questing and barely 5-10 FPS in large groups (especially WvWvW).

Im pretty sure my CPU is bottleneck but I would expect more than 20 FPS from my rig.

What settings are you using? I usually disable reflection,shadows and post processing everything can be set to medium-high.

Are you running any programs in the background? Mumble/Vent/IMs or fraps?

That’s weird though, I though Win 7 and Win 8 have almost identical configs and I thought MS already patched the issue regarding AMD CPUs on Win 7?

Edit : Btw I’m using Win 8 performance wise I’m only seeing faster boot no game improvements or whatever vs win 7.

I’m connected wirelessly to my router so I don’t have a choice there. The performance isn’t an issue, crashing is.

Try disabling your router firewall ? see if it helps. Might be something blocking packets that causing system to crash.
