You guys sit here and tell me this is all fine I join a non pay group and no one joins up I’ve tried all hrs of the day. I join a paid group and they kick me citing we need somene to pay for this spot. Whatever happened to gaming being a challenge.
So you joined a paid group, expect to not pay, and wait them to finish off the last boss and get your free reward? How exactly is that challenging?
The standard (4/5/0/0/5) meta build for guardian is pretty much a support build that buffs and debuffs and provides additional defensive utilities as you stated. However, you’re also expected to be in the middle of the fight, hitting things and doing a lot of damage.
By making yourself more supportive than that, you’re giving up a huge portion of your damage for a minimal gain in more utility.
Thief for small single target, elementalist for multiple targets or single targets with big hitboxes.
All classes do more damage in melee than in ranged, some more than others. However, all classes can also do adequate damage in ranged. If you want to stay ranged, the highest damage profession is probably elementalist with staff (only a slight decrease compared to staff in melee). However it’s also arguably the least durable profession in the game. Ranger is another option, with decent ranged damage and decent survivability.
Just make a LFG stating that you’re watching cutscenes.
But if people stop complaining where would I get my entertaining forum drama?
I feel like the people complaining about this are also the ones complaining to kids to get off their lawns in real life.
Well that’s just plane rude.
Party wide support and control is very important and necessary. It’s just that a non-dps build offers the same support and control a dps build does.
This is so accurate.
However, do you not see this as an issue at all?
If it means we’ll have the standard MMO trinity otherwise, then I don’t see this as an issue. With that said, I’m not opposed to equipment that gives things like boon duration or CC duration.

Please unruffle your fedora, OP.
Since I’ve been getting different information from different guides, is there any situations where you shouldn’t use AoE on the boss provided it increases your DPS?
I was under the impression it’s perfectly fine to use AoE, since the adds’ regeneration stacks in duration only and is negligible, and bubbles heal the boss if they’re not popped anyway.
Hi, I’m a NA player and am looking to learn Arah. Can I get an invite?
I have done CoF p2 more times than I care to remember, but I have rarely had problems with Magg. Sometimes he would be a pain to respawn if he died too close to a player (but too far in the lava to rez), but otherwise he would either follow or re-spawn directly to the player waiting for him at the boulder.
HOWEVER, lately, Magg has become a serious pain. I do not read all of the patch notes or forum threads so maybe someone can tell me whether the programing for Magg has changed. For instance, he no longer predictably re-spawns to the closest player. Twice now in the past week he has spawned to the players waiting at the entrance wp rather than at the player waiting for him at the boulder after dying in the lava. He just seems very glitchy now…more so than ever.
Noticed the exact same thing here.
Well, you’re in luck… They’re adding more difficult content in the expansion
Please tell me its not true that they only have 3 trait lines which focus on Condi and no power trait line.
It’s not true that they only have 3 trait lines which focus on Condi and no power trait line.
Elementalists are arguably the best class in the game at the moment.
To be honest, I don’t see a situation in PvE where celestial is actually useful, as opposed to PvP and WvW…
Full zerker…

I paid for this game, so I should have access to items in this game.
You do have access to it, just do PvP. Unless you mean you want it without any effort on your part, then in that case I want Anet to mail me all the legendaries cause I’m too lazy to get it the other way.
If I’m capped on some currency, I’ll just convert it into another currency. How does this solve anything exactly?
I’m using 6/4/2/0/2 staff with zerkers everything. The amount of dps from meteor shower + ice storm + lava font is completely nuts on the SW bosses. It’s definitely not faceroll but pretty survivable if you have good dodges and positioning.
But are you soloing, in a party or running on withe the map zerg?
Most of the time it’s Breach / Vinewrath, but I did LS and solo Mordrem mobs with this build with no problems.
I apologize eithinan, I guess my brain did not read each individual word that was in your post. Personally I think that 500 crests for 5 shovels would be a number, but for 250 crest/shovel I think is a little high myself, but I have not done the math to see how much 1 lost bandit chest actually gives you compared to what 1 piece of rare gear can give you.
No problem, just wanted to point out that I really believe anything under 100crests/shovel would be unreasonable.
As for comparisons, the bag of rare gear costs 20s and 250 crests for a chance at 1 rare or exotic item. So the guaranteed return on these is roughly 20 silver/bag.(I know, I’m using rough numbers)
Considering the gold value of opening lost bandit chests and the guaranteed drops from
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lost_Bandit_Chest
The 250 crest price for each shovel is appearing more balanced than I initially thought.
The exchange rate of crests to money is approximately 1g per stack from loot bags, not 20s from rare gear bags.

To be honest, this was what I thought at first when the item code for the black wings first came out and I previewed it. It makes perfect sense given the size and everything.
To answer the speedrun vs fast pugs run question: I think it’s the difference of tactics used. If you look at a record run for AC for example, the strats they use are completely different from your normal “5k ap zerker ping gear” pug run. The level of coordination simply can’t be attained with pugs, which is why they’re not considered “speedruns”.
Things like full zerkers and stacking might are only a small part of what sets apart speedruns and pugging.
Max size norns and charrs with the black wings running around are blocking my view and makes it hard to see anything. Can we report them too?
1 hour of silverwastes chest farming gives you around 1 – 2 stacks of each.
Know how the mechanics work and having Berserkers gear helps a ton with Breach, even if it’s 1 person.
You can pretty much guarantee indigo kills G/S in time by personally being there and popping bubbles at the right time, then DPSing.
Telling red “aoe is fine and just dps” makes that succeed a lot more also, since there’s still a lot of people misinformed on how copper works.
Blue and amber rarely fail, so not much needed there.
As for VW, just go mid and put down reflects and pop pustules, and tell other people to do the same, since that’s where most wipes happen.
Why are people so averse to doing content that involves other people in a multiplayer game?
Well, the way Anet set up the personal story has it play out as largely solo content. I mean, I think many people did most of (if not all) their PS solo. And then we’re given our final Personal Story, and it’s suddenly content that requires other people. It’s just jarring more than anything else, really.
And yes, this is a multiplayer game, but it could easily just be a solo game. No group content (save Arah Story) is required to progress your own story arc or to even do the Living Story segments.
I think a better question is: why do people play MMOs if they want a single player experience? There’s plenty of games that handle single player RPG gameplay better than a game designed for multiplayer. Even in the PS you have the option to play with other people. A huge portion of GW2 involves running into other people and working with them for events and such.
I’m not trying to attack anyone, I’m just genuinely puzzled.

The Silverwastes would be the place you’re talking about.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/SilverwastesHow much gold would be gained in silverwastes in average per hour?
Around 5-10. If you’re breach hopping, depends on the skill of your map. If you’re chest farming, depends on the commander and how fast people shovel.
Thing with off meta builds and tanky armor in general is, you’re not really getting more support from sacrificing damage compared to 45005 GS/S/F.
Thanks! For conjures I’m pretty much using frost bow and situationally FGS.
Should I use power or precision infusions, and why?
All my equipment are Berserkers.

Hey guys,
I just bought Guild Wars 2 today and it is currently downloading. I´ve been talking a bit to my friends but none of us has any knowledge of the game so far, so I decided I´d just ask in forums.
I amnot sure which class I am going to chose and dont necessarily want to have the most OP class (not as fun to me), but I want to avoid playing a class for a couple of days just to find out it´s actually comeplete trash.
I will be playing with a group of friends, and what I´m looking for is a Damage Dealer (not a Thief pls) that has a lot of variety and is fun to play even over long time, has a certain skill cap and stuff you can get better at, but is not frustrating for beginners.
I don´t think there really is that class, but I´d like hearing some opinions of you guys so it´s easier for me to decide.
Thanks
Most OP: elementalist
Highest DPS: elementalist / thief
High skill cap: elementalist, engineer, mesmer
In this order:
Buy gold with real money
Trading post and investments
Dungeon speedclears
Silverwastes chest farming / breach hopping
World boss train
Probably some more I missedAs an example, once you’re good at dungeons or Silverwastes farming, 10 gold per hour isn’t unusual.
If you have a lot of karma, you can convert it into linen for a quick profit. Same thing works with laurels and T6 mat bags.
Convert karma into Linen is not ideal for me if they don’t implant a system that you can use Mystic Forge to craft multiple items at once…
It’s incredibly boring and tiresome, yet it takes lots of time.I personally have around 6mils karma to burn right now. (Already burned 5 mils on other stuffs.)
I do agree it’s extremely tedious and not something I like doing all the time. You do get around 30 gold per hour from it though.

Regarding #3, the order of how multiplicative modifiers are applied on both the attacker and defender shouldn’t matter.
Say you attack something:
Start with the multiplicative identity 1
Your weapon has 1000 weapon strength (x1000)
Your attacking skill has coefficient 0.7 (x0.7)
You have 3000 power: 2300 base, 20 stacks of might, and +100 damage nourishment (x3000)
You critically hit with 1125 ferocity (x2.25)
You have a 2 traits that give you 10% bonus damage (x1.1^2)
Your target has 2000 armor (x0.0005)
Your target has 25 stacks of vulnerability (x1.25)
Your target has protection (x0.666)
You can apply these modifiers in any way you want, and the resulting number will be the same.

Note that dungeons aren’t really lucrative if you’re doing story mode or not “pug speedrunning” explorable. If CoF P1 + P2 takes your group an hour, you’re probably better off farming silverwastes.
Farming for obsidian shards directly through SW is a lot more efficient than farming karma, imo.
Completely broken and defeats the whole point of WvW.
However, this gives me an idea. How about a mobile waypoint item that would cost a lot of supply to create and allow a limited number of ports per time period? Sort of like the siege golem. Make it reasonably slow and fragile so it’s an important target for the enemy.
I’m completely against this, but if Anet restricts a major portion of the content behind some kind of soft gear check (say, zerkers or ascended), I’m extremely curious to see the feedback.
Adding some things:
Gold / Silver:
-Bubbles create a white circle when their health is low. This doesn’t stun the teragriffs. You need to actually pop the bubbles.
-Both gold and silver change directions after being stunned with a bubble. Take advantage of this to pop the bubble in the direction they’re going next.
-When they’re right next to each other, don’t stand close to them. You’ll die. It’s a good opportunity to burn them from range though.
Copper:
-Poison is very useful as it reduces the amount of healing it gets.
-Repeating what was said before: AoE is perfectly fine.
-Don’t be that guy on the ledge only spamming autos. You’re not helping.
Platinum:
-Move towards the section it will teleport to next as you’re DPSing it from range so there’s no downtime chasing it around.
Vinewrath:
-Call in airstrikes by taking a torch and lighting the fire with it.
-Guardians’ Tome of Courage #5 heals the carrier by about 40%.
-You can get credit for more than 1 boss fight by using the mortars at north. Angle it towards VW and fire the incendiary bombs at max strength. It’s very likely you’ll hit the boss. Note this will track you if you weren’t tracked already.
Beekeeper:
-Don’t stand behind the honeycombs the entire time. The laser only fires when Beekeeper’s standing at the edge close to Vinewrath.
-Feel free to melee, its attacks are very obviously telegraphed and trivial to dodge.
-Don’t feel pressured to fight Beekeeper for the Preserved Queen Bee drop. It’s not tied to Beekeeper chest, but the VW chest at the end.
Mangler:
-The AoE poison attack’s radius is a lot bigger than the circle. This is the #1 cause for wipes.
-Reflects help with projectiles, but it’s not 100% necessary.
-Don’t stand in red circles. Please.
Dark Wing:
-Don’t stand on flowers the entire time. The attack only happens after Dark Wing runs to the side closest to Vinewrath.
2 hours of silverwastes chest farming will give you enough T7 mats to make an entire set.
They should make the new HoT legendaries require 1000 dragon ball wins.
It’s technically not allowed, but you should be fine unless you tell everyone you’re doing it, like posting it on the official forums or something.
