You very well know that week 1 and 2 between cd/fa/ioj were the closest matches of any tiers.

Now going forward you also know that ioj gave up mid match in week 3. That’s when our score took off.

As for transfers, we got the guild GoF the week we moved back into t3. Nothing since then, unless they are super stealth inviso guild.

I would really hope people didn’t use scores as proof of transfers, it’s an argument full of holes ;/

no matter where you move, people will call you bandwagoners. It’s just the nature of these forums and internet heroes.

Just pick a place you like and go with it. If you go lower in a tier you may not get the chance to go zerg vs zerg, if you go too high you might have issues queueing, so go with a middle size server which I personally believe is t2-3.
Basically from the OP the servers that fit this description are: TC, BG, Mag, FA, DB, CD, and to some extent YB. Of these, the highest populated/coverage timeline are BG > FA > TC > Mag/CD/DB > YB

Kain has reportedly gotten so many people that it might not be worth it to go there. They are THE popular place for everyone atm it seems.

You should probably look for a server in the t2 to t3 range then.

These servers are large enough to field zergs across multiple maps and also not overbearing so that you couldn’t (edit) get into a map as a group so you can play.

It’s not fun if you hit 20-30 people as a group of a few everywhere you go, so you just avoid those situations all together.

Best matches are those that have the closest population spread.

That’s why t3 was such a close match for the past 3 weeks until Fort Janthir was created.

It’s kind of hard when we’re defending from a constant 50 man FA zerg in our BL.

And last night we pushed towards hills, they had 50 in that map on our side only. Not sure on Bay side because DB came out and was wiped right away.

So the amount of people they have now is making something like that hard, fighting a 4 pronged attack as it is, opening up a new front puts us in an even worse situation.

I’m happy that we try to maintain a queue for our BL first, EB second, and whatever else next.

That was quite a bit after our matchup started. In fact that’s from a couple of days ago. Flying Chicken was saying how CD was badmouthing FA for a long time. He is in fact one of those forum warriors.

It would be a nightmare to score. And to provide for all possible combinations of matches it needs to last at the very least 4 weeks between the 6 servers.
Which would mean if a server got 1st place, they would be locked into that place until 4 weeks later on they could tally the scores from all matchups.

Meh, it adds a decent element to the game. Last night I and a guildie went against 5 FA players. We had 3 downs where we thought we might get the kill, we got one of the 3 possible kills, 2 were revived. Numbers do make it harder.

I don’t blame the mechanic, I blame myself for telling my third guildie to stay away we can force them to move.

The revive is a great thing for this game and should stay, I know it will make ME plan better in the future.

This announcement, while needed, also threw WvW completely into a frenzy. Server transfers are at an all time high. Servers are being left for dead (in case of SBI and IoJ and I bet one or two more) while people jump ship and jockey for position post-transfers.

I’m highly conflicted about it. I feel as if the transfers should have had some sort of a fee from the beginning, however meager it may have been, and it simply gets increased at a later time when guesting was ready.

The deal with why our dedicated WvW guilds left IoJ is because we had enough of the constant losses that it had reached to its breaking point. For the past several weeks, IoJ had managed to control only two borderlands (IoJ border and EBG) at a time and even with two borderlands on our hands, if we even bother to try to invade third border, we had risks of losing our own borderland as we don’t have enough people.

But you guys won tier 3 as recent as three weeks ago. Wins in a 3 way system are hard to come by. JQ has been in tier1 forever and they only have a couple of wins to attest for it. A couple of weeks of loses shouldn’t be the straw that breaks the camels back :-/

Good luck YB. I know it can be hard when you fight a server with so many people 1v1 but think of it this way.

I feel bad for the IoJ people that are left. The ones that bailed were mostly the ones that continuously talked about how hard core the players were and how much server pride they had. Those types of personalities usually rank very low on my list.

Think of it this way though, the people that are left truly do care. You are lucky to weed out anything bad now. We had the same happen at CD when SoR and SoS roflstomped us. Since then we have slowly recovered and have a decent WvW population that is here to stay. That is invaluable. The ones you gain from now on are going to be there for the long haul.

Hardly anyone will be able to afford a transfer of a decent size guild. You would be looking at 100+ gold per person on the bottom tier transfers. Since the transfer could be anywhere from 500 to 2,000 gems it would be very tough for a WvW GUILD to get that kind of gold.

We all know gold in WvW leaves a lot to be desired.

LOL derision? No, CD didn’t have it “out” for FA, much as you like to think. IoJ were the ones that posted the most for the 2nd and third week because they thought t3 was going to be theirs for the foreseeable future.

Once CD took 1st place the hate started. And it culminated in Fort Janthir. I’m pretty sure most of us could care less who we fight.

There was a try to take down south keep gate, then trebbing/cata which we wiped with a treb on the inside, then third time around you built trebs farther back so we can’t take them out.

I just noticed that wall is fully upgraded. That isn’t from last night. We’re talking about two different battles. Last night we had tier 1 wall upgrade and no door upgrade.

I’m just going to put it out there again, even with transfers FA is still smaller than SoR and BG, and possibly even smaller than us still (we just picked up a sizable oceanic guild this morning). TC outnumbered the old FA by quite a lot, and while Fort Aspenwood got a lot of transfers they’re not literally the size of two servers, they’re just bigger than before.

IoJ were completely outnumbered by both SoR and BG (who have both grown since then) — I don’t think a dozen IoJ guilds transferring to the smallest server in T3 makes FA a monster, I think it makes FA around the same size as TC. Putting FA ahead of both TC and BG (but especially BG) is incredibly wishful thinking.

Obviously I think there is some fluidity within the tier. With the possible exception of the latter half of T3.

But you should not underestimate when a server receives a dozen WvW guild only. 3-4 of which are able to field a zerg on a nightly basis.

I don’t think Kain will reach t1 as they are boasting in every single post it seems.

Most people that come to CD are content. We try to provide a decent non-bickering environment where people’s opinions are taken into consideration.

But don’t tell that to our enemies. Most enemies hate us and figure us to be the Yankees of WvW. I take it as a compliment and a testament to our hard and competitive player base.

It’s evident on every reset, no matter who we go up against, we win the reset night. WE need to push hard an win the weeknights too and become the Death Star!

I am waiting to see how much FA tries to focus CD. And how will DB react. If they try to take advantage of FA’s obsession it will turn into a 3 way melee.

When we first had YB come up to tier 3 long ago we felt so good about being able to fight TC (1v1 we could hold them) but then YB didn’t go along with the plan and took advantage of it. We ended up being kicked down a tier. The server that focuses on one opponent here might end up the same which can make for frantic matches. So we’ll see.

That’s more of a problem of upleveled and inexperienced players fighting a coordinated voip run team.

It’s not an issue of counter. If the zerg sent in 2-3 plate wearers RIGHT THROUGH the group and didn’t allow them to dodge back for heal/reset then it wouldn’t have been a problem, they would have been running.

Just coordination in the end.

Finally, trying to label this as a bandwagon move. That’s almost as stupid as trying to claim CD has not benefited from transfers. You see, when you transfer to the 3rd place (for 9 weeks?) server – that’s not bandwagoning. Transferring to the first place server, that’s bandwagoning (you know – what all those transfers did with your server). Instead, you have two servers that have proven their skill and determination in T2 and T3 for weeks on end now joining forces to a degree. Due to our shared past, I expect the result will be much more cohesive and effective than most transfers.

Next week will be great, we will have 4 servers in a tier for the first time ever. CD FA+IOJ DB

Actually it was a good fight last week. And the week before. This tier had the closest margins of scores for two straight weeks out of any other tiers.
THEY gave up as soon as IoJ lost green. That’s why the fight hasn’t been close this week. We didn’t get more people than we had two weeks ago, trust me. Heck, you yourself should remember that we almost lost 2nd place 2 weeks ago because the matches were close.

So forgive me if I don’t buy into the “lets give server X a fight by consolidating” argument. The recent past doesn’t seem to support it.

I badmouth mass exodus from any server. I did it when HoD fell apart, ET and when original CD alliance exodus happened. In this particular case the big guilds that you now have (or have gone to other servers) have been posting about server pride, badmouthing others as “bandwagoners” and look at them now.

Do you actually disagree with the opinion? Because I can’t find a logical reason not to

b) label the fair weather guilds as hypocrites.
