It’s ironic how when IoJ first was moved down a tier we heard how much the population plays just for server pride and perseveres. Now that all went by the wayside.

I feel bad for IoJ players that are left holding the bag due to the fair weather movers. In any case, I guess it could be exciting next week fighting 3 servers instead of 2. It could also turn into a horrible match. Only time will tell. I for one can’t wait for paid server transfers.

No matter what happens, I’ll be on CD. T1 or T99, I’ll be around.

All servers have people in college. That’s not something unique to CD.

Simple matter of fact is that we just came out of a holiday season. Participation has been bad for everyone. We also have been in close matches, which drives up participation (winning even more so).
And for those non-believers, we have held our own against TC often times, but in a 3 way fight we couldn’t hold 2 fronts when TC can just focus us. So it goes to show that we’ve always had a decent representation in WvW, but had inconsistent results.

PS. we did get a guild a few weeks back GoF. Decent size. Thanks for joining us.

When browsing the forums one of the most annoying things one must do is scroll all the way up to the top of the page to switch to a previous forum page.

Can this navigation section (the Guild Wars 2 > Forums > forum > Forum and website Bugs —- navigation) be also copied to the BOTTOM of the page as well.

This isn’t a major change but it’s a quality of life one, and it also provides for easier browsing. Forcing a user to scroll back up through a page he already weant through to exit a thread page can be pretty annoying. I would think the fix would be very easy which is why I am making the suggestion/request here.

I think this has very little to do with IOJ or with Drgn. Here’s why:

Next, you misinterpreted what was said. There was no call to consolidate into one server from IOJ. At least not to my (incredibly extensive and always correct) knowledge. JK, maybet here was but I don’t think so. What actually happened is I suggested FA and IOJ team up against CD. Which is only natural, because you’re in first for points and seem to have the largest consistent WvW presence. For either of us to compete we have to target you. IMO my simple suggestion worked. We have a tight score spread and a lot more fighting than in previous weeks. You can’t blame us for this either.

Actually I was referencing a direct quote from a Dragon recruiter who called for big guilds from CD and FA to go to IoJ and consolidate the WvW playerbase in order to whup tier 2. That to me is not very friendly and underhanded. We should strive to promote all servers maintain a healthy WvW population, not make it consolidated to a few servers.

And I’m fairly certain that no matter who Blue is, Red will not be able to resist the urge and will continuously push umberglade/durios. Because it’s natural progression, it’s easier. Do I like it as a blue server right now? No, but I also don’t whine about it because I’d do the exact same thing.

Looks like some of the FA’ers are….RVLS (was that the tag?) or something very similar. If I’m right with the guild tag, this is a hello from Handeman (mesmer). I think I did some small supply circuit runs on IoJ or CD BL with you guys Saturday with my guildie DrToph (d/d ele). Was fun if that was you guys.

I had respect for IoJ prior to this matchup. I still remember the hordes and hordes of zergs when they blew by CD as we were falling down and they moved up to t2. I didn’t say they won’t because of zergs, I just credited them for winning.

After this week my opinion is starting to change.
Lets start with Dragon, the guild recruiting on other servers and trying to get people to switch servers. What’s even more laughable is they came to the forums and requested that guilds from FA and CD come to IoJ and “consolidate” so that they can push back into tier 2 and maybe tier 1.

How brazen, and underhanded, don’t you think. Maybe now they might consider moving to CD, since we are winning for the 2nd week in a row? There’s your push into tier 2!!! I hope not, because people like that are not someone I want to be associated with.

Then come these accusations of band wagoners? Are you serious? Our population is still the same. Heck last week we struggled to maintain anything in EB due to the huge green and red pushes onto blue. We persevered and ended up winning the match. We still do have to defend against constant pushes, but we don’t call any other server band-wagoners, now do we?

I’m very happy when I get instant EB queues and have to wait to get into CDBL. If you knew the inner workings of a server you would realize that we are just working better together now. We are still very bad at defense, but there is hope for improvement.

I’m more annoyed at them than anything else. But I also think that’s the emotion I SHOULD have when fighitng someone. They are opportunistic, that’s it.

I would hope that this whole notion that FA somehow plays to keep the first place server in check is dropped. It’s been proven over the last month to be false. Look at the actions and please drop the pretense. GODS and PRO are above such false statements I hope?
I mean, IoJ was winning the first week and there was never a sough push on green from red, only on blue.

Let’s be clear, I don’t blame them for it and it’s completely valid, but I would hope that the posters here drop the pretense of containing the first place server. It’s very unbecoming.

Why are people recruiting for their server in a discussion of struggles for SBI?

Each of you that recruited put a black mark on your server. I would never go to a place that has no sense of decency.

As for SBI, look at the score. It’s not just you, it’s JQ too. You might have a better score if JQ didn’t take a week off. And JQ won the match as recently as last week.

Don’t just give up, have fun, play for the heck of it. And if you drop down to t2 you might actually enjoy it because it may be a closer matchup than you are used to. IoJ came down to T3 and the matchups are very healthy with top server not having a huge advantage basically ever.
Just an example of how dropping down can be good for your competitive spirit. It’s much more fun to be in a close fight than to zerg everything down.

By the way that wasn’t the CD zerg. That was a group taken by one commander to keep you guys up north while we took Bluelake.

I know because I was one of the commanders south talking to the commander who took the group of players up north to keep a lot of your defense north. And it worked for what we wanted it to do.

To the CD guy whining about red borderlands I have a couple of things to say:

First of all, if you were on CD since launch then you had EVERY opportunity to gain every point. We have been every color for a long time. Red, Blue, Green.

Secondly, please just stop showing up in these threads or leave the server. You are rooting for your own server to lose. I hope you feel ashamed and I wish for people to shun you for being callous enough to do it here on the forums publicaly.

Just to note as well, for a full month anyone could log in in the morning and see CD hold every single point on the map during our climb back up. The fact you never tried before and feel deserving that we as a server should get you your points of interest and need to lose / do your bidding makes you a whiner.

We play to win, and we try the best strategy to do so.

Fix culling sure. Other than that, stealth is part of the combat flow and a Thief’s access to many boons and trait synergies. It is not like standard MMO stealth. Everyone here seems to want it to be that way. It’s part of combat, not something you do between combat.

Thankfully at this point Anet has shown themselves to not listen to whiners. They seem to balance based on the assumption that players are at a high skill level and have full knowledge of game mechanics. If you are having a problem with a specific profession all the time, either they are using a counter spec to you or you need to work on one of those two things.

I’m one of the thiefs, so I use the abilities just like they get used on others. I still think it’s a bad design that will leave more players frustrated than excited.

As a thief player (main character), for the long term HEALTH of the game Thiefs need to be re-worked.

Doing damage while stealthed is NOT good for any game. Why? Because you fight a ghost. 5 other classes are simply just swinging hoping to hit.

It’s better for us all that stealth be re-worked or re-thought. Give thief a get-away stealth ability or an ability to stealth for x amount of time, but not fight in stealth. Make them a true in and out damage class rather than a ghost.

P.S. pet peeve here but to the OP:

Please for the love of kittens (yes, I actually typed “kittens”), do not judge a server on hackers you’ve encountered. We did a break out event in TC BL, and about 10 minutes after taking Bluebriar, we had multiple people report that a CD player hacked his way into Bluebriar and was unkillable. I, in no way, blame CD for something like that. I told these players to report the player, and that was that.

I don’t judge the entire server, please reread my paragraph. In fact I made it a point that FA has been great for the most part with an exception of one guild. And I’ve also noted that ruins my enjoyment of the match as a whole.

And we all know there are bad apples on every server. But lets try to police our own. Make the known hackers NOT welcome. And as commanders, refuse to defend ill-gotten positions.

The forum doesn’t seem to have an instruction on how to report a hack on the forums or email. It only seems to have an instruction to right click “bots” and report them.

I’m trying to report and provide proof of a wall hack in WvW where people jump up. The video is available widely on this forum because a certain poster has it in their signature.

Also it’s something that I see used from a mesmer in FA on a first hand account to gain an unfair advantage.

So, where should I provide proof of this wall hack and cross my fingers that ANet addresses it as quickly as possible?

Weekend Impressions

After trying to go into WvW periodically since Wintersday celebration has started it is obvious that CD (and it seems FA) are very preoccupied with the PvE patch and enjoying their presents. TC on the other hand does not show a loss of people playing in WvW at all. This has given our current leader an even bigger margin. I will go on a ledge to say that TC has this week to get into tier 2 or next week the point difference will be much smaller therefore making them lose points.

FA for the most part has been great in this tier. GODS and PRO are awesome and I like them as WvW guilds. However a hacking guild that uses a wall jumping mesmer to steal towers (aka GONE) has greatly ruined my impression of the server. CD is in the right spot, slightly ahead of FA and YB but tactics like that really undermine my enjoyment of the match. I would like to note it is only from one guild that I’ve seen the bypass of rules, and I hope it’s resolved one of these days for all of our sakes.

PiNK… I hate you… In an passive way. There’s soo many of you! Was it not enough that you’re on the backside of every female wardrobe?

P.S. Wintersday puzzle is too easy

To me it matters. FA has been great this week and I enjoyed fighting with them except for those 15 <gone> people cheating earlier at AB.

As far as TC swaying stuff… bring it. TC has been after us really hard the past 3 days. I’ll take that as they are scared and forgot how hard we can push them. For the first 4 days the point difference was less than 20k. They aren’t used to that.

You should look back and read up on who offered an alliance first. Hint, it wasn’t CD.

Also, most of us play to beat the top team. Heck on some level I’d like to be the red server because of map set-up when attacking the others, but oh well. (speaking of EB).

Thobek, we have no speed boost in combat. In fact our mobility is rather lacking.

As for the topic, I don’t like damage in stealth. Or the repeated stealth. It’s not conducive to fun gameplay for someone to run around looking for a stealthed person, or to die without seeing your opponent. Stealth ideally should provide superior openers, then let the player settle the score.

If I had an opinion in the ANet dev meeting I would turnk CnD into a reflect/evade mini buff when used, remove the stealth component. Remove the stealth from pistol/dagger combo and then turn thief speed buff into an “in combat” speed buff as well. So they can retain their mobility but not have the protection of continuously stealthing while in combat.

And leave shadows refuge as is, if players don’t know how to combat that one .. then there are larger issues at play.

Let me start of by saying TC is as big as it was 4 weeks ago and their ability to cover 2 maps is not matched in this tier.

To FA: As one of the commanders I continually preached that we can’t fight FA, we need to focus TC. However that went out the window when for two days straight FA maintained a strong presence in our borderlands. While some people seem to be able to focus on the larger objective, the overall zerg is focused on “easier” points, so they attack us. We have to respond in kind.

If we continually see GODS and PRO pushing TC BL I’m sure most of us will get the hint.

As for CD, keep the fight going. 18k point differential is not big, we still have a chance to keep TC in our sights. As a competitive person, I want to keep TC back in t3 because if we don’t, it means they owned us. As a strategist, I’ve seen IoJ in tier 2 … none of us want to see them YET. (this includes YB).

Bring on the fight and above all please remember it’s a game, have fun.

It’s obvious that you have some skill, even though you are fighting REALLY bad people. But your attitude and messages used in the video just make me scoff and move on.

I’m sure many of the CD players consider TC the actual challenge and if we both go after them … it’s on like donkey kong. But TC may not like that because they need another convincing win to move to T2.

As for FA posters. I understand and appreciate the mentality of play for 1st or lose. Problem is you have to consider other strategies in hand. If you get kicked you don’t get a chance to fight the best. Instead you have to fight lower competition. When a match is far gone (as this one seems to be) your competition is the 2nd or 3rd place, not the 1st because you simply can’t catch up to them without cooperation from the other server.

In any case I wish all luck. Next week we should be back up to fight some of you and hopefully provide a challenge.

When YB first moved up we felt like TC is the main threat in tier 3 so we went hard after them on reset. YB played for 2nd.

This seems to be the case now. FA should re-evaluate it’s strategy and try to play for 2nd or they will be the ones kicked out. It’s a smart strategy on YB side, if you can’t beat them, use them.

There is a valid reason: CD isn’t T3 material and they heavily outnumber the other T4 servers. I’m playing on Ferguson’s Crossing right now, but I don’t see how that’s relevant.

What constitutes T3 material? Head to head CD has beaten 2 of the 3 servers in there right now. Granted one was prior to the CD alliance dissolving. We beat YB as recently as a month ago and only lost to them due to making a strategic mistake. We attacked TC thinking they are top dog in t3 and YB took advantage of our positions. We won’t make that mistake again.

And as far as I know, of the four servers we’ve been in the highest bracket.

In any case, I don’t want to get in an argument of what server is better, but I would appreciate facts behind the statements you made. I think CD is a great place that lacks NA players to really push for T2. We are T3 material as is. That’s my opinion and I hope people enjoy a different perspective.

Man CD i really gotta give you guys props for the endless assault and attempts on bay keep on maguuma BL. You guys sure are dedicated. I believe you guys wiped out trying to take it like 6-8x, and i can’t even remember how long that fight at the supply camp was while we set up siege for greenbriar tower. I won’t say i farmed you guys for badges but man i ended up with around 60 badges in like 4-5hours.

Actually it was wiped 2 times. It may have seemed like 6×8 because that was a looong and protracted tug of war. When your reinforcements finally arrived everyone on our server was like “holy crack how many are there in that red river of moving people!”

Mostly due to poor planning, but not due to trying.

I’m going to recommend CD and here is why:

As WvW goes everybody is aware that you need coverage across all time zones. Right now CD has great oceanic presence which means we can be kept competitive in any bracket during that time.

CD prime time participation is lesser than that of tier 3 servers though and with just a little bit of a push we can match up against anybody.

You will not have queues or long queues for any map. During Friday Reset, EB BL does have a queue, otherwise you can get into any other BL fairly easy.

So to reiterate, competitive server, low or no queues, decent guilds to work with, former T2 server that has fought the best and didn’t get embarrassed. And we’re try-hards.

We’ve lost too many people to really compete in T3 anymore. Unless our PvE population decides to start doing WvW or we gain transfers, T4 is the best place for CD.

Seems to me that it’s coverage you need. Certainly feels like you can massively outnumber either of our servers (and thus any T4 contenders) at certain times.

Well during NA prime time we are outnumbered on all days except for Friday reset. Otherwise we can’t muster up enough forces than to cover one and a half maps.

We have a great oceanic side though. So if we were to get one to two NA wvw guilds then we stand to be very competitive and even have a chance at t2.

But that’s the deal with any server, gain a few guilds and you’ll move up it seems. Everyone is jockeying for more people.

In any case, I felt like we might move up next week but YB is staying close in t3 matchup so that made it instead of a 17 point difference on Sunday into a 33 point difference today.

It seems most people here grossly underestimate the Human and Norn races.

Humans for actually having conquered most of the Charr for ages before being beat back (it still proves that they can stand up to char in an all out war). Lets not forget that the Krytan people having problems of their own did not allow for ALL humans to be united against the Charr offensive did not help either. Humans are a perfect blend between the Asurans (very easily adaptable to technology) and Char (cunning and brawn when needed).

Norn. What is there to say, incredible individual fighters. They aren’t in this discussion because you’d be hard pressed to find them organized for a war offensive, but if united they would be a juggernaut.

Before anyone brings them up, tree people don’t get a seat at the table.

The problem is this: I have never done the jumping puzzle except with friendly mesmer providing me a portal. I would assume same is true for many others, too. ANet might as well remove the jumping puzzles and put the treasure chests next to our waypoint.

I have no complaints about 1v1. Mesmers are probably the most fun and exiting to fight against.

You can still portal people up the jumping puzzle even if portal required line of sight.

Just as an FYI. Of course this would require people to be careful and not fall off the edge once they are up there.

Maguuma went on ROIDS last night. They were all over the place in pretty big groups of 20-30 people. Good job on not giving up.

I hope that the CD people get back into WvW and not continue to let it go after building a big lead. We need a larger margin of victory so we can get some fresh competition in t3.

When placing defensive siege, unless it is a ballista, make sure you place the siege on the inner most edge of the wall in the keep/tower. This protects the siege from most conventional AOE attacks and ensures it lasts longer.

When placing a catapult, please make sure you take into account that you also want to be able to throw a stone OVER the gate rather than just onto the gate. This helps you be able to defend against a potential catapult on your gate AS WELL as rams next to the gate.

Actually ANet could easily make it ‘hard’ for zergs by increasing the limit of people that an AOE spell can hit.

What would this mean?
A: You can’t stand in AOE. That’s a given and should be effective.
B: It would force people not to be in bunches as a coordinated 10-15 could wipe out a much larger zerg using terrains to their advantage (narrow points, tunnels etc)
C: It would force greater creativity when sieging a keep. No you can’t just bunch up on a gate anymore, you’ll have to employ your rams or catapult and then support siege (I.E. a ram at the gate, a cata from the back and an arrow cart or two to protect the gate attackers).

This is just my opinion though.

If I was TC, I wouldn’t be mad about it. Look at that PPT on your screen. Thank ChrimeThink for not helping their server.

YB always talks about lack of people, it doesn’t help when they have a guild dedicated to camping the JP. Not a reflection of the server but hopefully they realize their own shortcomings.

to the OP, no you don’t represent the WvW community.

That said, you can’t add more maps and further dilute the playerbase. There are a lot of servers that struggle to cover 1 or 2 maps as it is right now, and adding more would destroy the pvp aspect of WvW.

If they are to change out maps then all 3 server BL would have to go, due to the landscape of the map. And I don’t see them doing that.

WvW is fine. It’s pretty good. Personally I hope they fix a couple of things and then I wouldn’t see anything wrong with it.

One of those things I hope to see out of ANet is a raid grouping. So more than 5 people can get in a group and enjoy the fun.

Meh they’re just a cheapskate way of getting badges of honor in my opinion.

The fiercest PvP can happen in the JP.

There is no doors and walls to hide behind, just players vs. players. (Arena excluded)

Do you even have the facts? And fyi, ANets philosophy is that gear can be obtained by various means. So even if you just WvW you still get karma, you get badges. What’s the deal?

Actually Blue has a tactical disadvantage.

I was checking it out last night and in EB, Durios is placed much too close to SM castle. It can be trebbed from unreachable SM positions so in essence whoever owns SM owns Durios on demand.

They really need to fix that and make it so that only a treb placed on the outer section of SM can hit the castle gates/wall. Therefore requiring Blue to keep SM in check.

All other BL are even because everyone gets a shot at Bay while Hills are hard to take.

I don’t do it. Most people don’t do it.

Some people do it regardless of server. So why feel the need to point out YB or any server for that matter? People on your server do it, also very dissapointing.

Honestly I haven’t seen it until this week. And so far the only ones that have done it have been a few YB people. I understand it’s empirical evidence so I stated MY observations.

One slightly annoying thing that YB people are doing now more and more as opposed to two weeks ago is logging out.

I have had 10 people who were about to die just log out to avoid death in this matchup. Very disappointing.

Don’t get too kitteny. We were pushing you on your own borderlands the first day. And we might have even kicked you out of the garrison if it wasn’t for YB slipping in and taking the bottom of the map.

It doesn’t matter which tier we end up in, we’ll go in and play hard and people will remember matching up against us.
