This whole post is my opinion, each and every one of us have different opinions. You’re entitled to you’re own and I am entitled to mine.
Indeed you are! It’s not to be hostile against you I say it, but if you make a thread in the forums to show us something, you need to design it in a way we will be able to understand what you try to show. When you rate the Suppport/DPS/Tanking, you will have to do it under the terms the rest of us see it, else we won’t understand your work, and think it’s wrong!
So what I try to say, for us to have a discussion about it, or even just to understand what you show, there is some terms, or at least explanition you need to give before we can do that! Most people would laugh at you giving the Elementalist 1 point in tanking the way they work atm, cause not only can they self heal a lot, they can create bunker builds that can shield and prevent a lot of damage aswell
Still having a blast of fun in the match up! Many great solo players, so I have all ready made two duels video vs to very skilled WvW solo players from this week match up!

I would actually have given the warrior a point more in support then you did, did you ever try out a Shout Support / Damage soaker Warrior? Quite the good condition removal in AoE, AoE healing and buffing they do! And would have given the elementalist 2-2-2 (See Dagger/Dagger elementalists, pretty much as tanky as they get)
else I actually kinda agree with you! Engineer depeding on the build can ace up to 2 dps tho, but at the cost of one of the other!

actually Engineer can probaly move from 1 to 3 in any of the group in my openion now that I think about it, you just pay the price in lowering one of the others!

I would hate it! To be honest I really love the way the Engineer works atm. The thing with kit’s is I can swap around them as needed, because there is no CD, which is huge to me!
Most fights I never need a Stunbreaker, because I can simply swap to my Toolkit and block the Stun incomeing ect. I can allways have the tool I need for the situation ready, and I like to run with more then one kit aswell most the time time, I like 2-3
Which, for what you want to balance it, would requir we got CD on it, and could only use that one kit ew had equipped! I think the Engineer, atleast in WvW which I play (and my experince in PvE) Is just fine!

Ok so after a little digging I found a video showing duration runes are working just aren’t appearing on character sheet nor character skills. Video can be seen at top of build.
That’s bleeding damage duration runes, these do work just fine! It’s the one with Conditon duration, that don’t work, I have tested myself and so have Itkoviana, and they do not work! (Nice video of that warrior, never seen a Bleeding warrior in action)
Verdict this build is great, but it is particularly good against the current meta of D/D elementalists and thieves. Not sure how it performs 1v1 against a mesmer but I imagine it would have similar results.
Once folks get used to it an know not activate abilities when the confusion is stacked I imagine it will get harder to execute.
You can now look forward to several duels with me vs Osicat using a confusion damage build! look forward to see how well it actually works against a mesmer!

Hey there m8!! Another build playing around with allthe confusion and burning we got, which is great, and for sure something that works in Wvw! It remind me a lot of some of the stuff I run around and do (Tho i prefer to be up close or in medium range, so I go for largr radius and bombs)! So decent build for sure!
The sad part is, you have been thinking the same as me – Condition duration is BAUSE on Engineer’s, and they sure are! The thing is, all Giver’s weapon are bugged, and have been so since release, and since last path all runes with condition duration in them is bugged and not working either!
To make it more clear for you zugly: When you add 1 stack of confusion to an enemy, that one stack got a fixed amount of damage that is dependt on your condition damage, to make it simple we say that is 1000 damage! If you add more condition damage to your gear, that number will raise!
You then add this 1 stack of confusion which last for say 3 seconds, to this enemy. He then press 3 differnt skills during these 3 seconds, because he didn’t see your confusion stack, which means he take 3000 damage, 1000 damage from each skill use! hope this helps explain it!
They are indeed conditon damage build, use Rapid, or Carrion gear, or a mix for that matter. The more condition damage you have the better, since confusion can’t crit it’s a waste to have % crit damage, and precision is only worth taking if you aim for using some of the “Proc on crit” tools we got as an engineer!
Well it’s mostly cause P/P, Bomb kit, and grenade kit, all got awesome condition damage skills, that on the same time benift a lot from power!
Take Prybar ect, it’s got brutal direct damage and confusion as follow up, or blowtorch, brutal burst power and followed by burning! Personal I run a mix of rapid gear and Carrion gear, I feel confident at 40% crit chance, more then that feel like a waste for me, since I only want the crit chance to proc my sigil and incendairy powder, which both got an internal Cooldown, so I don’t need to crit all the time, hence I throw more into power.
Also, the hybrid damage (Power damage and Condition damage) make you able to put pressure on people in two differnt ways, which often can result in the enemy making stupid mistakes. This is also one of the reason why our condition damage build benifit so much from might, because our skills we use to give condition deal good raw damage aswell

@Mirgaino when you say first movie, do you then mean the first build in the duels vs Intigo? If it is, then I use a mix of Rapid and Carrion armor, and a 2x Lyssa and 4x Lich (which sadly is bugged now!!)
I use the Veggie Pizza (40% condition duration and 70 condition damage) in my condition builds, and I use Omnomberry Pie (66% chance to lifte steal on crit, 70 precsion) in the power build!
Haha I love it! I love it!!! It’s just as brutal as I were hoping! Anet really never should have buffed that Prybar, not without nerfing Confusion damage with like 33% or something in WvW! But anyway! It’s looking goood! Gonna be great with a full movie hehe!
And it seems to be the only burst Eng build . . . so figure out how to avoid it.
You haven’t tried a Confusion burst Engineer then! You can look forward to my next Roaming movie showing some serious confusion burst in that case!
I think you dropped the wrong Link Lepew, at least what I get up don’t look like what you talk about hehe! But I’m glad to hear a fellow Engineer had some fun! The Grenade kit can indeed be quite boss in a condition damage build aswell, and the skill 2 greande is gold, you should consider running with some Veggie Pizza food, for 40% longer condition duration, just because that should boost it’s duration o like 20-22 seconds I I remeber right!

I think you could do with low condition damage yeah, you wouldn’t have to stack as much as normal, I would probaly go for Knight Armor and maybe Carrion Jewels ect for that build, with Knight Weapons? Throw in some condition duration runes (when they gets fixed, bugged since last patch) and you should be good to go
Yeah, I have been doing the same trick with Grenade kit instead of the Toolkit, and you can be quite tanky and yet dash out quite the damage! So I’m sure it’s a quite decent WvW setup, and I might toy around with that in a future video when I got the gear for it if you don’t mind!
But yeah, I think a P/P build is better for it, mostly cause what you say, but also because Might benift them better, they get more out of the power and the condition! So all in all, this might be the birth of a new sort of frontliner Engineer, with Elixirs and Toolkit hehe

Ahh man such a shame! But sounds like it is indeed workin well! Your constant uptime of Boons have gotten me thinking that Toolkit works indeed quite well in your build, cause you can be up Melee with all that protection and regen, when you need to deliver those fast Prybar blows! I’m looking even moe forward to it now hehe! Uploading te movie with out alt fights atm btw!
Confusion is indeed brutal on the Engineer, even more so after last patch! The combo of Prybar and Bomb Kit is evil , found it, that most of the time you will be better of only using one, wait for it to run out or get removed and then stack the next!
Also as I said, looking forward to your test results with using that Toolkit! I’m sure it’s gonna be brutal! Been a blast having these duels with you! and I hope more and more people start joining in on this fun way to train as a WvWer!

I’m gonn make a movie next I think, showing it’s use in WvW roaming and a guide to stats and runes ect with that movie! I really love the Net Turrent in duels for the extra control it adds, and how much it helps land prybar, magnet and bombs! Not sure if I will use it when I roam, atleast not if I’m tired hehe! But It’s dangerous to go without a stunbreaker, so you really gotta be wake when dueling without hehe!
Most Mesmer builds lack condition removal, so it’s a matter about applying them fast, I actually rarely loose to a memser these days! The good ones are ofc. still a gaint pain in the * hehe

On a more positive note; I hope Piken enjoyed having their towers on EBG constantly flagged for about 3 hours. Was hilarious watching that zerg going from tower to tower trying to check whats going on and catch me.
So that was you! You my good sir, got my hate! You should have seen our map chat! such a pain running from tower to tower trying to figure out wtf was going on, and when we realised it was only one palyer doing it, a witch hunt began!!
Also, I enjoy I don’t have to go leave WvW to do my dailys! Just playing WvW normal for a 1-2 hours (+ some gathering while running around) get the jop done for me, while I still feel I have done something usefull! And actually, that a few solo players headhunt Dolyaks can be quite usefull for the server if they do it at the right time!
When that is said I would love to get some even more WvW focused dailys (while keeping the others for the PvE players), because at this moment I can only get 3-4 easy done in WvW most of the time, and I would like it to be 5! Also I don’t think people that normal do PvE join WvW to get daily done when they don’t have to?

Vulnerability is great, but the trick with Net Turrent is more to keep them in one spot so I can land all the bombs with a bonus 5-15% power damage (depending on how many vulnerability I get up on them) follow by their condition damage, so would kinda ruin the point hehe

So you don’t need the Agony Sigil. Nightmare for +20%, Lyssa for +10%, Pizza for +40%, and Explosives for +30% is capped out.

Sorry for my bad english but i didn’t understood what did you wrote. In nutshell, what did you said about Thougness vs Vit? Wich is the better? Go Thougness or go for Vitality?
The Nightmare rune appear to be bugged, so instead it give 10%+10% atm! at least in sPvP!
Yeah I’m daring and running without CC, it ofc. require you are 100% awake when you duel people, but it actually worked great so far for me! It makes it possible to land confusion bomb easy, and do some brutal combo’s on people! It’s quite fun to play with, have never used it before! Also the extra vulne I get from sitting duck is quite neat! (also just using glue shot or bomb will also give 5stack of it)
I like it Kardiamond, that’s allmost the exact same triat build I have been testing since the patch, only thing I do differnt is alchemy where i take vigor on swiftness! I’m gonna post several videos of duels soon in my movie thread running that build, as well as a gameplay of me roaming with it later on, still in the test phase for me tho!
Personally I use 2x Lyssa and 4x Lich for more condition duration, and I use sigil og generosity to transfer conditions to enemies! But The theory behind the build is the same, with 5 stacks of confusion on Prybar it’s golden!

There might be one you like, the Napalm specialist build worked good in most 2vs1 (Using the cloaking device Maska talks about to handle immobiliez)
Else I strongly recommend checking out what Maska do, cause his kitten good at it, and it’s a simple well working build for roaming he got!
I prefer to see the Engineer as a medium range player that does indeed run in and out melee combat and I do so myself quite often depending on the build! The thing is, the kit refinement from grenade kit sucks big time in my opinion! The only reason it works in 100 grenade is cause they stand on top of the enemy so all the grenades hit (and they run a 100% burst damage gear setup)
If you test it out a bit, they scatter like hell, so they really won’t pack that much damage, and for sure not in a conditon damage build seeing as they don’t add a condition unless you crit! While we can dive into melee, we shouldn’t do so unless we gain a lot from it, like dropping a Big ’ol bomb or dropping a healing turrent followed by AoE heal combo! Just to enter it for the grenade barrage appear to gain you very little, ofc. I havent tested the exact amount of damage it would deal in such a build
While the toolkit’s kit rifinement is great, I wouldn’t take it only for toolkit, hence adding Elixir Gun would give you a lot more in terms of teamplay compared to rocket boots, when you allready have the kit refinement!

Also, I got the Explosive Toolkit movie fixed, and it should now be working just fine with new music! So make to sure to check it out for some Engineer burst people!
I have tested the AoE Condition damage area myself, with some what the same gear setup, but not the same trait build! I think you are right with the 30 in explosive and grenade kit, it’s some nasty long amount of bleeding we can stack with it! But if you run with a group, and that is the utility you use, I wouldn’t take Kit Rifenment, both of them force you into melee in a build that ain’t made for that!
But a thing you could do (which I think you should, since you run with a group), would be to swap the rocket boots for the Elixir Gun, which would give you more healing to your group (as they appear to like from your post), and some condition removal!
Another thing you could do would make a 30/10/0/30/0 Grenade kit/Elixir B/Elixir R or S and go HGH might stacking (which works really well with grenade kit since it benift both from the power and condition damage). This could also with the cleansing formular also fix the condition problem! Ofc, you couldn’t run healing turrent!
But the general concept about the grenade kit with condition damage is good and fun to play with!
I fixed the Explosive Toolkit build, it’s now up and working!
Yeah that gotta be a net turrent! And yes, I think that will maybe work, at least if you run a power burst build, when I dropped my elite skill and the net turrent actually worked there, it would help deliver som brutal hits! I was actually thinking about using that instead of elixir S! And might give it a shot next I meet him, but have some trouble with it:
1. It’s a bugged skill, cause the net shot animation often bug, getting “Obstructed” without reason, or shot into the ground, and it’s even worse when on a Turrent that shoot qutie random
2. It’s a condition, which he remove in large amount quite easy, so gotta be really sharp about when to use it
3. It would leave me open without a stunbreak
But if I wasn’t dueling him, rather meeting him random in open field it would be much stronger and I fore sure think it’s a very strong skill vs one, so I think I will give it a go actually next I face him!
