Hi,
Contact support and you should be able to get your account back.
Do this:
1) Go to support.guildwars2.com
2) Login or create an account there
3) Click on “Ask a Question”
4) Explain the problem
“My account has been suspended and I would like to have it back. I got the following message when I tried to login: <add the exact suspension message you got>. I think the suspension happened because I use a VPN. I use it because the connection from my ISP is bad and the VPN helps reduce latency.”
Add this to your question as it may help expedite the process:
My login email:
My GW2 ID: Npting.4137
Character names in my account:
GW2 Order number:
GW2 CD-key:
Hope you get your account back!
However, using a VPN might get you into trouble again. You should consider other ways to reduce latency, such as smoothping.com or lowerping.com. You can try them out first to see if it helps your specific connection.

It puzzled me that my long lost sister just disappeared after I saved her… whatever happened to denouement?
Role-playing is my favorite kind of game and the RP in this MMO has some parts that are superficial indeed. Maybe I’m too used to BioWare games but I guess Anet had more important priorities.
Hope they get to improve the personal story some more.
Welcome!
If you don’t play MMOs that much, you may want to try out a less squishy profession first, in the medium/heavy armor range.
It depends on which character I’m role-playing. Vigil with warrior and guardian. Whispers with thief, etc…
But I’m avoiding the Priory due to the Bad Blood quest which I really disliked. I did it with my Mesmer and it was enough.
I was hoping for an exotic lvl 80 weapon of choice with an appropriate skin (yeah… 3 years GW 1 ;-) ).
Yeah… The rewards we’re getting now are pretty lame when compared with GW1 end-story rewards.
I think everyone was expecting at least one exotic, and it would be great to choose between several different weapons like in GW1. It would give an extra incentive (at least for me) to get more characters to 80 and get the different weapons.
I don’t understand the awful end-loot we’re getting, and I really don’t understand why they dropped the end-story reward system from GW1. I thought it was great… O_o
(edited by Amon.5042)
And the grief continues with the jumping puzzles… Unfortunately, I’m not that good with this sort of thing.
I have tried the other two quest lines and they were okay. I don’t know what comes next after Bad blood, but I can guarantee I will never choose the Durmand Priory again. I didn’t buy Guild Wars 2 for jumping puzzles. >_<
I was starting to wonder if I was ever going to be able to continue the Durmand Priory questline. Who thought it was okay to add that blasted wind right at the beginning of the quest? “Oh, I can fly with my magic but you have jumping obstacles ahead and wind that’ll most likely get you killed. Have fun!”
That was a greatly irritating experience.
Dying it is…
Yeah, it continues to be annoying to get: “The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again (Code=7:11:3:189:101)”.
Should be more like: “We’re so sorry you got disconnected. Here’s 1,000 gems for your trouble while we come up with a proper solution to this issue.”
I got disconnected again when I was trying to do ‘Armor Guard’. I’m on my third attempt with this one.
This is being a bad time for me to do the personal story. I finished the PS with my other char some weeks ago. It ran a lot better then.
Removing MF completely from the game would be great but I think “pay to win” is Anet’s new matra, courtesy of NCsoft and their outlook on Asian MMOs where some people spend thousands in in-game shops.
They could narrow down MF to just consumables.
I’d rather focus on getting combat prepped and hope to get some good drops because of my skill than to have my skill trivialized due to MF. The ability to improve the quality in drops is ubiquitous to the point of subverting gameplay.
I’d rather have them remove MF from gear and have it specifically for weapon upgrades and consumables. That narrows things down a bit and still would leave space for skill over gear. Now skill doesn’t seem to mean squat to get good loot.
I think they got too much inspiration from Asian MMOs. :/
It’s obvious that there are cracks and they’re being discussed all over the forums. They’re likely being fixed too. A thread like this, with the tone that the OP used, is just throwing salt to the wound that’s in the process of being healed. My 2 cents…
Shareholders happened.
A great chunk of the game was actually well polished on release. MMOs are just too big for everything to be top notch from the start. In this game, it’s when you get to higher levels that you start noticing the myriad of things still in need of work.
Now developers are probably working crazy hours to try and add missing elements and patch the game asap. :/
I can understand that they’re doing the best they can, but can’t help feeling unhappy when playing some parts of the game that are in need of improvement.
I was doing ‘A Grisly Shipment’. After dying a couple of times I finally get to the point of going to the highest point of the sh… “the game was unable to connect to the server. Please try again later” o.O
Is there any way to continue from the point where you got disconnected? There doesn’t seem to be any. This is an online game and disconnects are likely to happen; GW1 was mostly based on instances and had a way to get back when this happened. :s
Right now I just have to do it all over again, likely die again, and hope I don’t get disconnected… again. Oh, and I also need to repair my armor before doing it… again. :’(
Is this going to be improved any time soon? Getting killed by an invulnerable mob (that gets to full health and turns back to finish you off because the z-axis is especially borked in underwater combat) is manageable. Getting thrown out the ship by a monster skill and then land near a mine that explodes and kills you is tolerable. Having to do it all over again, on the other hand… >.<
As I previously indicated, I got another character to level 80. I’ve now been trying to appreciate the personal story that I left at level 61. Unfortunately, I can’t just focus on that because #1) just equipping my character to level 80 gear has cost me an arm and a leg. #2) traveling and repairing becomes TOO EXPENSIVE. I have to keep getting back to farming and going to the TP in order to cover these stupid gold sink expenses. I find myself rather annoyed and unwilling to continue working on a character that is rapidly absorbing my hard earned resources.
When I felt good about the game and was having fun, I was more than willing to buy gems and support the company who made a game I like. Right now? I absolutely despise the feeling that I’m being somewhat forced to get gems and trade them for gold in order to get by. I detest getting drops of black lion chests that are just a ploy to buy more gems. Maybe I should just throw myself to the gold sellers in order to better support myself for the game’s unrelenting need to eat up money?
If a player needs to become an expert in the TP and farm their eyes out, besides other oh so important strategies to make money (while others declare you’re too stupid if you don’t do them); if the player is forced to get gold by any means necessary instead of just appreciating gameplay, then something is really, really wrong.
My level 80 warrior is yet another character I’m no longer touching. I don’t play just to obsessively farm events and mats in order to be a money hoarder. I play games to enjoy the story, the game world, to be with my pals, and make new friends. If it’s ArenaNet’s objective for their game to be around gold sinks and the gem store, then you have definitely lost me.
How about whenever a player receives a large infusion of cash to their account from mail over a certain period of time, say more then 20 gold over an hour (because gold sellers could spread out the transactions over multiple mails), a special icon is put beside their character name.
What good would come from public humiliation? The player would likely want to quit instead of redeeming himself and innocent players caught in the humiliation by mistake would give a very bad rep to Anet.
My previous post got deleted because it didn’t “provide any meaningful contribution to the topic at hand.”
I responded to the following:
I certainly support a cap of 1s for travel.
This. Very much so.
What I didn’t elaborate in that response was that I understand the circumstance of not getting enough money. I was feeling the same when I got to 80 and was, for some time, unhappy over this. It didn’t help that Orr wasn’t that much fun, and moving around to other areas too much costs an arm and a leg.
I think that the pricing for waypoint travel from levels 70-80 is excessive. I agree that there should be a cap of 1 silver to move within an area. Also, the farthest distance possible between zones shouldn’t be more than 4 silver.
I also suggested in the appropriate forum that players should be able to set a home waypoint. Teleporting to that ‘home’ waypoint would be free of charge, whereas any other waypoint would have the normal fee. That would prevent players from feeling being ripped off when they die and need to pay for teleport on top of armor repairs.
Anyway, as I started to level up another character (which just got to level 80) I was having fun again. Leveling up in GW2 is a lot of fun and, as I began to better understand the game, I started to make money too. I now have 25 gold stored in the bank by leveling up, completing maps, and by selling mats in the Trading Post. I also learned to avoid waypoint travel as much as possible, use WvW or Mists as a hub, and not bother with crafting atm which is another relevant gold sink.
If there’s anything that needs adjustment in end game, IMO (besides a better, more diverse lvl 80 area), that would be transportation fees. They’re too harsh. Players need better mobility to go between areas and enjoy this amazing concept of any area of Tyria being relevant no matter what level you are. Unfortunately, ArenaNet kills the incentive to go forth and explore the world in all its glory (and earn money as a result) by making waypoint travel expensive for high level players.
So, a cap of 1 silver… that simple but poignant idea, very much so.
ANet could do what CCP does with ISK buyers in Eve online: Set the player’s wallet to a negative amount equal to what the player bought. Therefore the player has to work off their ill-gotten gold and they’ll think twice before buying it again.
I think this is a great idea. Why send the buyer ‘on vacation’ for 3 days? That’s a slap on the wrist. Punch him in the face and make him work instead:
A player has 30 gold but buys another 50 gold from the black market. The transaction is detected, the seller is perma-banned and the buyer gets his illicit gold removed. A calculation is made: (illicit money) – (money he already had) = -20 gold. The player then has to work his way in order to get a positive balance again.
A quicker way to settle the issue is for the player to exchange gems for gold.
This would make for a good deterrent and a possible positive outcome for ArenaNet, with the player buying gold from them in order to make up for the negative amount. It would at least minimize the purchase of large amounts of illicit gold, which would then flood the market. A player wouldn’t want to buy 100 gold outright if he could have -70 gold waiting for him the next day.
A temporary ban isn’t that much of a deterrent to gold buyers. The possibility of hitting them where it hurts the most, together with an aggressive promotion of this measure by Anet, would be an effective way to cool heads.
A new mail arrives:
‘Hello hero! Go to wehackyou.com and buy $50 for 50gold!’
Player reaction:
And likely lose my hard earned money AND get a negative amount that will take me months to balance out? No kitten way. Where’s that report button…
By the way, I haven’t gotten mails about gold selling for many days now. That’s a good thing.
I wonder when this mission is going to get fixed properly.
I tried to help a friend a few days ago and we stumbled upon canons not spawning to destroy risen ships, rocks from giants still targeting us below decks and doing lots of damage, plus the oozes all around us, and the mission owner getting disconnected so we had to try it all over again. We finally quit because it was too frustrating.
Ships of the Line will live on in infamy has one of the most frustrating and most bugged chores to do in GW2.
Server: Fort Aspenwood
Area: Timberline Falls – Guilty Tears
Mission: ‘Escort the Order of Whispers team to the grawl camp’
Problem: mission doesn’t continue and Grawl keep spawning, making for a continuous loot exploit.
I suggested this already, that waypoints to main cities(DR, the grove, etc) should be free.
This is a more modest suggestion. Only one ‘home’ waypoint becomes free of use, and as long as it’s advantageous to do so. Then move on and set a new one as needed. Players would have a more convenient way of transport, of their own choice, besides jumping to the Mists or WvW.
There would be tradeoffs. Is it worth to set a home waypoint at a certain location which will cost me more than normal one-way travel? Am I going to stay in an area long enough to be worth it?
This would make for a fairer balance between the required money sinks.
(edited by Amon.5042)
How it works
- Player is at an explorable area or city;
- Player sets a strategic waypoint as home base;
- A flat fee is paid;
- Player is able to get to home base at no extra cost and from anywhere.
Practical example:
I’m in Fireheart Rise, I set ‘Tuyere Command Post’ as home base since it has repairs and merchant. Whenever I die or need repairs I teleport to my home base at no extra cost. I then teleport to the nearest waypoint from where I was and pay the normal fee of that waypoint (that or just walk there).
Why
With a home base waypoint I no longer need to pay for transportation on top of armor fixing. It makes for a fairer use of the waypoint system without players feeling they’re getting ripped off.
Is that so? Didn’t notice that ‘4’ was the only one that healed.
When there’s nothing to target I keep pressing those buttons and just die. If it’s a bug then it needs fixing. It has happen way too many times already.
(edited by Amon.5042)
I had, in more than one occasion, killed all enemies. Because I was out of healing and had condition damage with very little health, I went to downed state. However, if there’s nothing to target, I’ll slowly but surely just die. I got to the point of having to manage the killings. I keep at least one monster semi-alive so I can get out of downed state.
Suggestion: if a character is in downed state and it’s not getting hit, the health bar from that character starts going up, instead of getting a miserable death.
Yeah, that’s another thing that needs fixing. The downed state is even more borked. I often can’t target anything.
This game has so much anti bot stuff that only effects real players, The bots run around in the same pattern for 3 straight days and they do nothing to ban them.
The farmers use teleport hacks so the anti bot code doesn’t work.
The only thing the anti bot stuff does is ruin the game for legit players with 200% magic find you hit the limit in 5 minutes, yeh that’s cool……I think when players get 25 reports they should be banned for 1 day and then they review them quickitteno make sure they are botting. If players abused the report function all those players get a 3 day ban. Also if you do it, don’t announce it publicly just encourage people to report.
Stating that they’re doing nothing is a rather unfair assessment. Take a look at the sticky thread about botting and this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Let-s-Start-the-Karma-DR-Dialogue/page/5#post338359
Gold buyers have been banned in GW1.
Once I traded a good amount of in-game money with my wife. The next day her account got permanently banned for gold selling and I got a 3-day ban for buying.
We were playing from China and this misunderstanding got resolved pretty quickly but it was interesting to verify that they were actively detecting and pursuing suspicious transactions, and buyers were also getting punished. I’d imagine the same will happen in GW2.
Ask that question 6 months from now. Polishing isn’t yet finished.
GW2 is not in beta right? its released, it should already be in a polished state. Arenanets thing was “we wont release it until its ready”. Well, its released, so either its ready… or they lied.
That being said, after 34 days (the omg gw2 is out rush) is already over, I don’t forsee the game taking off much more then it already has, from here its a decline. We will see in 6 months I guess.
Agree fully. GW2 already hit its peek. 6 months isn’t going to jump this game to 4 mil+ people. I will be more people have stopped playing then game sales a month after release. 6 months isn’t going to bring everyone back and then some. And no game should take 6 months to polish. That is a horrible excuse.
This game will end up like GW1. Tons of hype in the beginning and then drop. It won’t die but it will fade.
I like the game a lot but there’s a bunch of accumulated annoyances that need to be worked out. There’s still a lot they can improve upon and there’s a lot of potential to tap in. I don’t think any MMO got to be #1 after one month or got perfectly patched/polished in that amount of time. WoW had its amount of issues too when it was released.
Patching and perfecting an MMO is, unfortunately, a slow process. But because patience has its limits, I’d be disappointed if in 6 months the game hadn’t reached a robust peak in performance and in attracting players.
I think people are trying to make map completion way too easy, when it’s supposed to be difficult to achieve.
But Vistas were already implemented to make exploration more difficult. When I first tried vistas, I wanted to strangle the guys who made them. But I got used to them and now think they pose a good challenge.
Exploration has more to do with time and patience than how difficult it may or may not be. Adding exploration in a PVP setting makes for a stressing experience. I already get plenty of that in real life.
Just split exploration into World and Mysts.
Exploring the WvW maps should have their own track in the WvW achievement section, and the explorer title should count only Tyria, not the Mysts.
WvW does have a PVE component and it would be advantageous to meet players from other servers besides having to obliterate them. The same map could be used for either “World versus World” and “World meets World”. In WvW, exploring does offer nice PVP rewards. In WmW we would be allowed to complete maps reasonably, without exploits, and have more socializing opportunities.
This is another case of unreasonable achievement. And so, I strongly believe that must be changed
Agreed.
Ask that question 6 months from now. Polishing isn’t yet finished.
So you tell me, would you rather get 12.5 or 50 gold for your 50 bucks? I’m not a fan of gold sellers, but the gem prices are so out of whack, you’d be a fool to buy gems at the current exchange rate.
The TP at least forces gold sellers to sell cheaper than what they would like. This, together with more efficient methods to ban them, would make their business increasingly unprofitable.
I think that the ratio of gems to gold is fine as it is. If the exchange rate is more favorable, prices for items would likely get prohibitive for players who don’t or can’t use gems for gold.
(edited by Amon.5042)
A temporary ban for buyers should be enough. If they keep on doing it and get caught, I guess their accounts should be permanently banned. But that’s on a case-to-case basis.
The TP allows exchanging gems for gold. However…
Why buy gold (from gold sellers) when u can buy gems and convert into gold in BLTP ?
…gold sellers sell at a cheaper price. I’m getting at least one gold selling message per day. I keep reporting them all but I do see how cheap they’re supposedly selling. Everyone likes a bargain and some are just willing to take the chance.
I prefer to work for my own gold and to support the developers with getting gems. Buying illicit gold is also not worth a ban or getting your game account and computer potentially hacked by illicit websites.
Yeah. I hope this gets improved. It would be neat to have a version that would allow for a more relaxed experience with exploration and meeting players from other servers.
JonPeters.5630:
We thought we should put in our 2 cents as well.
Guild Wars 2 is a game about freedom. We want you to be able to explore the world and engage in a huge variety of activities, focusing on whatever best suits your tastes.
Some players have run into “diminishing returns” thresholds we put into the game to provide a safety net against unanticipated economy-breaking issues. We do have these thresholds in place, but it’s not our intention that normal players should ever run into them. We’ve recently had bugs and imbalances that have caused normal players to hit thresholds, and we’ll fix those.
These systems are put in place to protect the economy from botters and exploiters. We will close exploits as quickly as we can. These thresholds help create a safety net to keep the economy safe when we aren’t there to deal with the offender. It’s important to have a safety net in place. It would be bad for everyone if, for example, a group of players learned how to speed-clear a dungeon in 5 minutes, with full rewards each time, and then repeated that continuously. When one activity emerges that’s order of magnitudes more profitable than anything else in the game, it forces everyone to either engage in that activity or get priced out of the economy.
While we need a safety net to stop unanticipated economy-breaking exploits and botting, we have no desire to stop farming. Farmers are a part every online economy and when they are doing normal game activity they do not cause any harm. If a player finds a normal game activity fun and would like to keep doing it, that’s fine with us.
Initially we have to rely on smaller data sets, instinct and some guesswork to find the correct cutoff. What this means is that some players are going to bump into the edges of these systems for a while as we get them sorted out. Please bear with us while we gather more data and lower the safety net until it’s only providing critical economy protection. Looking at the numbers this morning, we believe some of the threshold systems are just too harsh empirically and we’ll be adjusting those systems within the next few weeks to ensure that fewer legitimate players are being impacted.
I hope this helps to explain why a game like this needs systems such as this to protect its economy. I also hope it gives some insight into our philosophy about botters (BAD) and exploiters (BAD) vs. farmers (GOOD). Thanks for your support and we will see you in game.
Jon
This is a great official statement and it should be added to a sticky thread for everyone to see. There’s still a lot of misinformed players out there who most likely won’t see this.
- Guild Alliances
- Guild Hall
- Able to click on my own character and see what other players see
- Visible titles (seriously, why are they hidden…)
- Enemies visible in mini map
- Aggro radius in mini map
- More detail to what skills actually do. “Sigil x gives n health after killing foes” instead of “Sigil X gives health after killing foes”. That’s quite a generalization with various skills atm…
You can’t see your own title and other players need to click on you to see if you actually have any title. And the ones that are visible, such as the gold star for the map completion, makes those players targets in PVP.
Hopefully they’ll improve this soon.
I just fell off a cliff when I tried to dodge the overseer in pig iron mine (Fireheart Rise). He’s on top of a cliff.
It would be fun if we could do the same to enemies. But we can’t. This is an annoyance.
I have a personal goal of doing 100% map completion. There’s no problem in the PVE side since I can do it at my own leisure. However, some areas in WvW are impossible to reach because of being occupied by another team.
Some people have been able to get around this by going to another server. But players may be unable to get back to the home server if it’s full. There’s also server rotation but I’m not exactly free to play the game any time I want, and I may miss the rotation. Plus, being in a place where the objective is to obliterate the enemy makes for a very inhospitable setting to explore.
As fun as WvW is, when I’m exploring I like to focus on getting POIs, Waypoints, and Vistas in a relaxed way and not stress about getting killed in a PVP setting.
Suggestion: create an exploration mode
Before getting into WvW, players can choose this mode.
This mode is separate from normal WvW in order to avoid spying abuses. Only the PVE elements remain. Waypoints are not free in this mode.
This would also be a neutral zone where players from all three servers could meet without having to fight each other all the time (though dueling could be allowed). It would be an opportunity for people to socialize and meet new friends from different servers and be able to broaden the guesting feature.
(edited by Amon.5042)
I decided to get 100% map completion. When I’m doing this, my focus is to explore, not to try and obliterate the other team’s players and getting territory.
When I explore, I do it in a relaxed way and avoid combat as much as I can. It’s fun to just focus on getting Vistas, POIs and Waypoints.
WvW is an intensely fun part of the game. It’s awesome to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their guildmates (while laughing maniacally at the computer screen).
I have a completely different mindset for exploring and PVPing. When I explore, I don’t care about getting the enemy and I wouldn’t really be much use for my team. I’d probably be taking the place of someone else more driven to WvW action.
Map completion players shouldn’t have to explore in what is an extremely hostile environment for exploration. WvW teammates shouldn’t have to suffer those useless explorers, and explorers shouldn’t have to wait for the next WvW rotation and hope that the other teams are worse than theirs.
I hear ya.
WvW being needed to complete exploration is incredibly frustrating. How am I supposed to get to an area occupied by another team, and within the play time I have available? What is exploration doing in a PVP setting in the first place? If I want to explore I don’t want to fight other players, while other players just want to obliterate me. I can’t jump to another server since I probably wouldn’t be able to get back to a full home server. And it’s not like I’m looking forward to try again after the reset in a place that is extremely hostile to exploration. WvW is the ultimate combination of grind, grief and frustration for explorers.
Titles. Why did they bother to add them if they are not visible? Players like to show off their accomplishments. Why is this hidden? And why can’t I see my character the same way as others do? There are small but fun elements common to MMOs that are missing here.
Personal story. All missions can be done solo, except the very last one. That’s quite a drastic and unexpected turn. Not that I don’t like playing with other players, but the very last bit of the PERSONAL story no longer can be done at my own discretion and it’s no longer a choice of doing by myself or with a group.
Then there’s the bugs. There’s at least one I can avoid: underwater combat. It’s rather common for monsters to get invulnerable, turn away, get to full health, and then come back to finish me off. No, thank you.
Despite all the great things in GW2, there’s an awful lot of discernible issues that pile up during gameplay. That is demotivating and I don’t see this list of issues being resolved any time soon. Alas, patience is necessary.

There are also good people playing from China besides this.
I wish they could allow players to select the specific country where they play from while automatically rejecting everything else.
I’m sorry to hear that. It takes me seconds from email notification to getting into the game, and I’m playing from Asia. I feel much safer with the email warning and it’s a pity that you want/need to let go of that reassurance.
You cannot …..have a Pre-pay credit card as a recurring transaction
That looks reasonable to me.

There’s no problem with AFK. I have been sometimes away from the computer while I left the game running. When I return, I see that I got kicked to the character selection screen and with a message that I was inactive for too long.
There would be an issue if you’d left your character with skills set to automatically spam an event area. That would be a ‘bot’ act which should warrant a ban.
That is great to know.
Just wanted to add that I play from China and have been sometimes permanently banned from GW1 due to misunderstandings from where I’m playing. I and my wife have spent over 300USD in this game so far and would like to retain our entertainment investment without having to worry about collateral damage with game-wide purges. We’ve also been with ArenaNet for 7 years and love your creations.
Since you’re in the process of improving your anti-bot / anti-gold selling system, please also factor in accounts being played from odd places that:
a) have a considerable amount of real money purchases made;
b) the account has not been reported as hacked;
c) how long the account has been in existence.
Now, go get those silly botters.
I haven’t met that many problems with using the TP besides when it’s purposely down.
TemperHoof, you’re indicating that GW2 issues with botting and gold selling (which is chronic to MMOs ) is much more serious than usual? Would that be a fair assessment for you to make?
I can’t say I have payed that much attention to bots when I’m playing, but I haven’t seen more than in other games I played. I have been reporting every single gold selling attempt that I see, but that has been no more unusual than in other games.
People botting clearly take advantage of MMOs when they come out since it’s the easiest time to exploit at its most vulnerable state. But again, I don’t see that as an abnormal exception to the rule. I also don’t see Anet keeping a blind eye about this. It’s just a matter of time for widespread action to be taken.
Did I mention that Gold Sellers are selling gold WELL below ArenaNet’s asking price for Gems?
Well, of course they are. How else could they compete? I hope that’s ruining their profit margin considerably.
(edited by Amon.5042)
The controls in this game are getting Nazi-like.
They’re balancing the game. Every MMO goes through this process. I’d recommend creating other characters until the higher level areas are improved. Hopefully it will get as fun as the lower level areas, but I don’t think that the outcome will ever be “nazi” like.
