I’m curious what an all mm 5v5 fight would look like.
So keep the replies coming, and if there’s any ideas you think could be implemented into this, I’m open to suggestions!
Teach anet how to cater to the viewer through community based rules, specifically no goblins or zoo’s. Community based cash tournaments from my perspective mean nothing in the end if the effort doesn’t lead to increased viewers. The only tournament I’ve watched live was pax and that was a total wash with zoo’s camouflaging goblins and casters broadcasting like basketball before Glickman.
Change them to pvp gold boosters for match rewards. They are still selling them on the store so to have glory boosters to be useless people could lose real money for not knowing otherwise.
I want to see this this Legendary Blade. I don’t even think it even exist. There’s no slot for it in your collection.
I recommend turning glory to gold and dyes. Next rewards patch will get rid of pvp/pve gear so the legendary pvp blade turns into dhuumseal that goes for 3g on the tp. I have a very unsettling feeling that actual legendary particle clutter weapons on the smallest scaled goblins will be on the way for the effectiveness it will have camouflaging your attacks.
SoloQ is for new players.
Hotjoins are for good times.
TeamQ is for third party voip.
Better to turn your glory to gold and wait till the next rewards patch that removes glory. Most pve items are a fraction of the cost that it takes to get the pvp item outside of your rank.
I also have a feeling that pvp exclusive rewards will be tied to the new ladder system, and hopefully exclusive rewards for ranks as well. Rng will most likely return after the removal of crafting as magic find will play a role (+1 to pve crowd).
Personally, I keep meaning to work in pve land to up my magic find and gold at a faster rate than I would in pvp as the only plus to playing pvp in this transition is for the rank points.
Another way to look at it is cause and effect. Esports needs viewers so what effect has rampant zoo and particle effects have on the amount of viewers gw2 tournaments have? Adds of any kind for this game imo was implemented horribly.
IMO
Hotjoin > yoloQ for pvp’ers (no rewards)
Hotjoin < yoloQ for pve’ers (rewards)
TeamQ = voip (mix of pvp’ers and pve’ers)
It’s not just about having the amour, it’s about how you make it work, using colours that compliment each piece and weapons that completes the theme.
Exactly!
title should be
Aboot leaderrbord rank egos. First to dragon needs some sun.
If you want to keep riding down this rabbit hole we could go into how there is doubly dual error correcting code discovered within the patterns of reality and that even in a perfect vacuum space is comprised of particles switching on and off or in and out of existence much like pixels on a tv. Just try to imagine a four dimensional rubric cube let alone an eleven dimensional one that collapses on itself.
What does rank mean? What does reality mean? Nothing but zero’s and ones, in’s and out’s of existence. “Nothing exists save empty space and you, and you are but a thought.” – Mark Twain
tldr my rank is over 9,000!
I kind of regret wasting my glory and gold on pvp skins because once pve gear can be brought to pvp things like my legendary blade a dragon+sliver 4x crit greatsword is really only 3 gold on the tp named dhuumseal. It’s cool for now though, as I haven’t seen anyone else with it yet. Lately I’ve been only stacking my glory into gold.
I’d be interested in knowing if the pvp exclusive rewards are tied to rank and therefore retroactive which would be better to make gold in pvp than pve with no rank points.
PvP items better retain their acct bound status. I hope the extinction of glory patch won’t be implemented horribly.

Actually both t2 and nightmare cost 40k glory only t2 is ~17g cheaper than nightmare so it would be interesting if t2 can be salvaged into dragon tokens or if it is a gamble as well as t1.
Can you get Dragon token from salvaging Tier1 Cultural armor?
just got afflicted blade. thinking of salvaging left 2 parts since i dont like light nightmare.
Bramble also drops from mystery coffers.
Did you use a sliver? I bet bloodfang daggers are the same ingredients as the afflicted blade.
I just tried dragon+sliver and got encrusted first time and no token on salvage. I was seeing if I could get the pvp Spirit Chalice focus.
Wiki should be re formatted I have a theory that dragon+sliver is encrusted 1x, bramble 2x, destroyer 3x, named 4x crits. I wonder what the orb and crystal crits are.

I want a pimped out Kalahari,
to roll up and down strawberry,
looking for a kitten to punch in the mitten,
exchanging that paper ride off feeling richer.
Oh no I forgot the condi,
no use contemplating my purity,
it’s all in vain as it starts to sting,
if only I had that diamond skin.
I think that conquest is easy for new players to get into…
I got the bramble 1h sword first try. Personally I like the looks as well as the legendary blade even with no animation. I think weapon animation clutter is the last thing spvp needs on top of smallest scaled goblins.
Does anyone know of a more up to date site than the wiki on other weapons? I noticed it didn’t list the legendary blade.
I tried making the bramble great sword but first ended up with encrusted second time legendary blade.
And like someone said. You can buy them with books spending glory.Pvers did not get skillpoints for free. They played pve for it.
We already had a dev post about addressing the time investment it takes to unlock new skills for spvp by playing spvp. I don’t understand why you think spending the equivalence of 340g for 8 skills is reasonable for existing or new players that do not want to pve to pvp.
Also pvpers do not care about levels. Tomes of knowledge for pvpers are about skill points and not to level alts for a game mode that auto levels you to 80.
I think that conquest is easy for new players to get into, and it’s allowed for some amazing high-level games so far! But we’d like to try some new things that get away from conquest.
Imo conquest is about being able to 1v1 well and have effective communication as well as basic teamplay which are not good for new players. Eventually, new players should be able to grasp conquest, but then they are no longer new.
Also unstructured objectives like basic fight or flight making use of environments and falling damage traits over structured objectives like 1 close 1 animal 1 far rest mid.
yes, I have a PvP engineer at level 2 and a PvE Engineer at level 80. Now I have to play PvP with my PvE Engineer because the PvP Engineer in the mist can not try the new skill.
Do not like the change
Worst Reason Ever. So what just take 20 seconds to store the pvp armor in the locker and put it on the other charcter.
Willing to bet the pve engi is not a goblin while the spvp one is the smallest scaled one. I did the same with a class though I don’t pve much lately.
It’s ridiculous to expect people to grind in PvP to unlock new skills when the entire premise of PvP as advertised before the game even launched is that all skills and equipment would be unlocked in PvP. Even if you lessen the grind, it’s still unacceptable.
Gw1 was great though because the grind was paced correctly. It wasn’t even considered a grind because there were so many skills to unlock. If anything it was progressing towards additional builds which worked for that game. There are a lot of variables to make it work just as good as gw1 but it is possible.
One immediate fix I’d like is to make spvp only skills be unlocked by 5 skill points versus 25 that can’t be carried over into pve, but that won’t happen.
I just wanted to stop by and let you guys know that we are listening. We’re looking at a few different ways to address the time investment it currently takes to get new skills in PvP, but it’s not something we’re able to talk about quite yet.
You’ll see a drastically different system in place in our next major rewards release that should address many of your concerns.
That is fair.
The only problem I see is gw1 pacing was faster because it had enough unfixed skills to unlock to do so. I’m hoping weapon skills to be unfixed from a pool to choose from one day as it will greatly aid in implementing an spvp skill unlocking system that will also work wonders with a casual single objective game mode. I agree unlocking new skills is the right direction as I also agree the time investment needs to be addressed in order to pull it off, but in order to pull it off well we need templates which can have 2-3 per class. Additional templates can be unlocked in the gem store which preferably I would buy more account bound templates versus character bound ones.
Alot of us dont have 8 char slots so we delete a char when we want to play another class. DO NOT FORCE US INTO PAYING MONEY FOR EXTRA CHARS SLOTS ITS SO LAME.
Any1 else do this?
Please Anet reset them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t be so cheap. The game is B2P so they have to make money somehow to pay for the servers you use. Buy some char slots once and for all and you’ll be ok.
What about players that did support this game by buying character slots thinking spvp would be on equal grounds? Personally I have 9 character slots and only one level 80 so the only new skill I can play with is the necros. Now I need to either use my glory and gold on skills or aesthetics or play pve.
I’d be fine if all 8 new skills didn’t cost 300k glory and 40g or a nightmare in pve land. Honestly how many copies of this game would they have sold if this info was leaked before release.
My first soloQ since the reset was on skyhammer and it was a 4v5. I never thought a video game company’s pride would sacrifice it’s game.
SoV necro for a support/bunker. Not sure how it works on a competitive setting.
Terribly. A decent bunker necro uses any of the other available heals.
Blood Fiend for sustain/MM (which can be very effective bunkers)
Well of Blood for large healing/team support
Consume Conditions for general heal and condition clear.

It won’t carry your team in damage but, it will help keep them alive while adding small pressure. I haven’t tried it on a competitive level but works good in 5v5’s.
SoV necro for a support/bunker. Not sure how it works on a competitive setting.
I do not find unlocking skills at such a slow pace fun compared to the fast pace of gw1.
You made it too confusing where spvp players needed to buy wintersday gifts to sell on the tp and then use 300k glory and 40g for enough skill points to buy all the skills on 8 level 2 classes, which many players bought character slots under the assumption that spvp would remain on equal grounds. Personally I need to get my skill points in pve or not play with the new skills because I’m r39 with 140k glory left after converting half of it to gold by buying winters day gifts to get ~50g which I plan on using for aesthetics only. So I won’t be playing much of spvp seeing as how pve is the best place to get skill points in my situation.
Everything else about the rewards imo was fine.
Just wait till they remove glory and gold:gems becomes the standard. 10 new skills for 8 classes will cost 2,000 skill points @ 25 a piece. This game is heading in the wrong direction.
I’ve been saying this since the blog, but I’m surprised so many people didn’t know, lol…
The entire premise of PvP in GW2 as advertised and loved by many is that all skills, traits, and equipment are unlocked from the beginning to allow an equal playing field. This patch completely undermines that premise and is a kick in the face to all PvP players.
It’s an incredibly disappointing decision and I’m shocked by just how many people didn’t know about it or actually support it.
The population is too low. I’ve been looking at other games even more than I have been on this game.
ya except instead of more than one skill per class we got… one skill per class.
Wow. people ask for more already.
Real PvP player play for good fight, challenge and excitement not for gold.
thank you sir, I agree. When I was a kid, the only reward was a high score and a good time. When i was a kid the internet didn’t exist either so….. But really people, its almost like people want to get paid cash to play this. Want more gold, get a job, go buy a gem card, and trade for gold! Other wise enjoy the game, have fun, or go home to mommy.
So real pvp’ers shouldn’t use the new skills right off the bat but pve’ers should?
37,500 glory and 5 gold per healing skill?!?
I refuse to support through gem purchases.
pve 1 pvp 0
well there was a reason why this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/gold-for-tpvp-matches-in-the-past/first and this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Compensate-won-Solo-TeamQ-with-RankPoints/first exist.. if u dont support the suggestions of other players that had helped u too, u should live with the outcome.
Ugh i never voted….
wait can someone explain? these are not just unlocked already? I have to PVE for them?
If you have 8 lvl 2’s than all 8 skills will cost you 300k glory and 40g.
Horrible implementation imo.
37,500 glory and 5 gold per healing skill?!?

pve 1 pvp 0
It is a shame it went live only being able to consume 20/25 charges for 5v5 in spvp.
Hotjoin is fine. I’m playing on server 001 right now. It just doesn’t show up on the list.
I get to play!
My reasoning is that with the duration of 5s and a 1s icd it’s tough to get all 5 possible heals.
I think it’s impossible to get all 5 charges per player so in a 5v5 setting the most your team will consume is 20 charges.
1/2 = weapon speed of dagger
1 = the icd
1/2, 1, 1/2, 1, 1/2, 1, 1/2 = 5s
even with haste turning it into
1/4, 1, 1/4, 1, 1/4, 1 , 1/4, 1 = 5s
I agree this topic should exist in spvp sub forum since necro sub forums I never know what mode whether pve wvw spvp some of those posts are referring to. This skill needs a spvp only version!
Here’s my view on it.
The leaked necro heal was way too op and would have been followed with much reasonable qq. First off the traited 16s cd was too low for the necro when combined with the signet’s mechanics, and runes are the reason why. For example runes of grenth would provide too much chill uptime for what the necro already has access too where chill is concerned. Bone Fiend gets away with it since its not a signet and MM don’t spam their heal for aoe chill since it attacks every 3 seconds. In a sense SoV with no icd would have had the best hps in game depending on how fast you are being attacked and what the variables would have been. In a sense balancing is even harder than in gw1 because of universal things like sigils and runes where they create an active effect like aoe chill on heal (10s cd) and on weapon swap (9s cd) across all classes. I could see perma chill being a necro meta on the leaked op version and cleanses won’t matter when you have up to 7 or more ways to access it.
Second thing is passive life steal on every hit which does damage. This is dependent on variables, but it would make retaliation even better with 2 passive damage sources on hit and imo would have a knifes edge to balance on either being too op or too ineffective. On one hand the necro has ds to deal with burst damage and the leaked version in the other hand would have a passive life steal (dps/hps) too deal with sustain. Variables might be able to control it but, I don’t like this game that much to jump down that rabbit hole.
Third is the knowledge that this mechanic works like a reverse condi stack. If anything this is an interesting step that acts like a hex as it involves player interaction after being cast versus the passiveness of applying a bleed or a burn.
The 1s icd is too high and should be reduced so that players can use more than 4 charges.
(edited by Amstel Steel.2058)
This is a perfect example for the need to balance skill effects per mode. This skill looks like it will be good for pve and wvw, and not for a 5v5 conquest mode.
Yeah but its gone so offtopic I have no idea what any of you are saying anymore rofl.
we were going rabble rabble rabble over signet of vampirism having a 35s cd and a 1s icd
Second part of the preview is up and it definately has a 1sec icd on the active part(at around 58:30 http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/485426386 ).
Ugh… atleast you could argue that our other heals are in no danger of beeing obsolete, since the new heal is like it is…
35 SECOND cOOL DOWN?!?!?
Ya that is not a spvp skill unless there’s some strange build that looks bad but works great.
http://www.gw2db.com/skills/23579-signet-of-vampirism
Hmm looks worryingly weak.
Assuming this is accurate, does anyone else see something missing from this skill? And I mean completely-not-even-there?
There is no self-heal on the active. Yay necros for getting the only healing skill that doesn’t directly heal us..
Take a look at the thief new heal skelk venom that one is worse than the necro’s. So no the necro’s aren’t getting the only healing skill that doesn’t directly heal the user. In fact I don’t believe the warriors will either since it requires them to get hit to heal. The engineer one only heals after 4s or the engineer takes fatal damage. So at least 3 other classes have a heal that doesn’t directly heal them on use and a few others have conditions that need to be met in order for their skills to heal.
I’m inclined to like this though as it will hopefully have a better risk:reward though without it going live for the community to build theory the new heals we won’t know how good they ultimately will be. Another thing to keep into consideration is the separation from a conquest meta for a new game mode meta.
The problem with Siphon builds is they suck in terms of getting health. I would love a REAL Vampire build, but the Siphon abilities are a JOKE. The heals need to be in the HUNDREDS not Tens :/
I think there is a calculation involved. If I remember correctly the vampiric trait is in the 40’s but ends up stealing ~200. The way that heal looks now though is the active effect will allow teammates to steal ~100 health and the passive effect will steal…. less than a hundred.
Coming from gw1 life steal builds are either useless or over powered. Such is the nature of a mechanic that deals damage as well as heals. Hopefully it’s not useless.
I made this rough build for the new heal skill. The one thing I hate about the necro is the minions so i didn’t go the minion leech route and went the power/retaliation/stability route. I was 5 pts away from the death into life trait but can’t see anything worth giving up for it. Also not sure if deathly invigoration is ultimately better than the transfusion trait. Now we just need a death match and the support meta will really shine.
Why minis? We cant even have minis out in pvp
It would cross over to pve. I mean if your gonna grind to get dragon this way you can show off a mini pvp dragon in pve land.
