Nuhoch Stealth Detection doesn’t seem to be doing anything for me, unless it only works on specific stealth mobs?

Verdent Brink and Tangled Depths map completion awards nothing at the moment. Have completely finished both these maps and have not got any end chests.

I got it on my first char, then nothing on my second.

Started a SE P3 pug run, get to Dredge carrier.
Ask Guard “Good for melee?”
“Of course” he says.
-> Only brings WoR (lone guard/no mes)

Doesn’t GS5 them away, ele in party dies, asks what they did wrong. I say if you’re going to melee without hassle you need more than just one WoR. Guard is like “I used it twice, it has a cooldown buddy”. Not using Bane Signet so god knows what other utils he has on, using rez bubble trait (honour line ftw?) and not using feel my wrath. Signet heal, blah blah list goes on. Proceeds to tell me I’m bad and he’s pro, talk kitten for the rest of the run, couldn’t get enough votes to kick cause it was just a complete lfg pug.

It really depends on the situation but most of the time you should be opening an encounter with it because it not only deals damage but it instanly spikes a boss to 25 vuln, making everyone’s opening burst much more potent.

It’s been around since the beginning of the game. Honestly, I’ve never done all of Arah and I’ve mostly stayed out of Fractals thus far to avoid these kinds of experiences. I have no issue using a meta build and gear, but it seems almost impossible to find a group of people willing to let you learn a dungeon/fractal these days.

Honestly, it’s tougher because the game is 3 years old. I am in the same boat re: Arah really. I still see plenty of lfg ads for people new to paths though.

There is a bigger problem: People joining lfgs without meeting the required stuff, for example:
- “lvl 80 only” —> lvl 42 joining
- “experienced zerker” --> full cleric staff guard joining
- “lf thief/mes/engi” —> necro joining
- “no skips, relaxed run” --> thief joining, running apart and in the end shouting: “wtf u doin guys, get over here.”

Would love to know what the % of people who actually read the LFG message instead of just the title. Lately I’ve seen an overwhelming amount of either lowbies joining 80s/meta/zerker/experienced groups, or people with < 1000 AP who quite clearly have no idea what they’re doing.

The only thing that bothers me about the pricing is on launch of Gw2 I got the game for $60 AUD . Now, partly due to the horrible usd → aud conversion, it’s $71 for an expansion (standard edition) that I hiiiiiiiighly doubt is going to double the existing content. Struggling to justify it really but I do want to play HoT.

Get a guild bank. It doesn’t take much to create, 6g for the first 50 slot guild bank. Just don’t drop the guild if no one else is a member, or else you will lose it all.

Can also store mats you wanna save here too. Just not account bound mats.

Guild banks have a 1000g limit per section. Personally I liked it back when we could deposit money in our own banks but not going to lose any sleep over it. As someone else said, just put a low bid in for something on the TP. Even better if it magically fills somehow

What method did you use to gather the materials?
No idea, hard thing to answer when you do it off and on. While I was farming for Eternity, I kept all my T6 mats (& globs) so had a good ~ 1700/2000 of the necessary mats. I then used 200 laurels on T6 crafting bags. The $$$ didn’t take long at all for Flameseeker prophecies. Took maybe a week or so to make roughly 500 gold. Farmed cursed shore/silverwastes to get the money for Eternity plus played the TP.

I made Kudzu/Dreamer in late 2012/early 2013. I bought Leaf of Kudzu for 60g during Lost Shores. I got The Legend from Karka chest, eventually sold it for 180g (lol) to buy The Lover. No precursor drops since then.

I have spent rl $$$ on gold before. Chucked $10 on for roughly 80 – 100g a few times over the last 12 months.

How often did you play during that time period?
Why, a lot of course :p EDIT I had 4050 hours played after I soulbinded my 5th legendary Flameseeker Prophecies.

Did you enjoy it?
I didn’t particularly enjoy the world completion the 3rd time. It was okay but I was rushing and forcing myself to do it instead of taking it at my own pace.

You guys are a perfect example of how people perceive “randomness”. You think randomness means everything is distributed equally. It’s doesn’t, so stop thinking like that.

True randomness means there needs to be some extremely “unlucky” streaks, and some extremely “lucky” streaks. If there weren’t, it would not be truly random.

I’ll give you a good exercise that might or might not open your eyes.

Write down a series of 0s and 1s in what you think is a truly random sequence. Make it long enough, say for example 100 numbers.

Then, start up excel and enter this formula:

=ROUND ( RAND ( ) ; 0)

And copy it through 100 cells.

Let me know your observations when you compare your own “random” sequence and the computer generated random sequence.

Finally, I would like to say true randomness in an MMO probably isn’t the best way of handling progression and loot. A good system would be random, but would also include a so-called “streak-killer” algorithm, that would cut (at least) bad streaks eventually, guaranteeing a “hit” after enough “misses”.

We / I know what RNG means, but if always suck for me, and always not for him, thats not truly RNG, RNG affects him too, then why RNG is his side always?

You might know what it means but you don’t understand how it works.

You put every player’s “luck” (i.e rare, exotic, precursor etc, etc drop rates considering forge attempts, monsters killed, account MF etc) on a graph and you will get something similar to a bell-curve. A bunch of people with an average drop rate, some people with absolutely horrible drop-rates and some jerks that get all the loots.

With precursors, though, it’d just be heavily skewed to the right, i.e a LOT of people with 0, some with 1, 2, 3…. a very, very select few (that naturally you always hear about) with 5+.

I imagine they have level/experience-based categories of basic, intermediate and advanced achievements in their system for each of these tiers. Kryta wood is probably the PVE one, capture a point probably the sPvP one, maybe sentry point for WvW.

Anyone know what achievements are available today for players with characters only under level 10?

The number of available achievements per day is based on the highest-level character on an account:

Levels 1 – 10: 1 achievement per category
Levels 11 – 30: 3 achievements per category
Levels 31 – 80: 4 achievements per category

I suppose Anet could have been more clear in their blog (and have released it earlier) about this upcoming update that laurels will not be rewarded as frequently so that people could prepare. However once again I think this problem is more than made up for by allowing us to receive an extra 15 laurels in the same time period.

This is just for logging in once a day, mind you…

How was I complaining? It was pretty clearly an observation backed up by any number of threads in this forum. Your argument here essentially amounts to “no u r”.

I read it, but casuals complaining about the same minor things over and over gets tiresome and I admittedly already have a low threshold for such things.

Today’s daily 10 AP can be completed by competing in one sPvP match as a guardian or necro (and by not being completely hopeless/afking the whole time). So then the argument comes: “Well some of us don’t like sPvP”. Firstly, I’ll acknowledge the irony, given that sPvP & WvW players have waaaaaay more issues of being locked out of content than PVErs ever have or will have. Secondly, if you don’t like sPvP to the point where you can’t play it at all (or WvW or PVE), then you are making the choice to lock yourself out of content. This is why there are achievements for each game-mode.

I somewhat agree with some of the issues raised; the PVE options could probably do with some work. I’d still argue though that these individual achievements have much better rewards than previous so that any extra “effort” that is required for the really tough achievements like to view a vista that you’re being duly compensated with improved rewards.

Oh and actually the single worst thing that happened to legendaries was making them buyable on TP, massive mistake by Anet. That was a nonsense decision and still is. Final nail in the coffin for any kind of “prestige” associated with them. Before this it was primarily about gold, now it’s all about gold.

Lol, the reason they seemingly have zero prestige is because this game has been out for over two years and legendary acquisition has always been about gold; something that most people have made plenty of during their time playing. There has also been the same set of legendaries since launch. Of course the prestige is starting to diminish.

As for the “farmer/RNGeeus” comment, uhh that’s what getting most decent cosmetic items comes down to in most games.

Because that response was pretty much completely at odds with how they have previously defined exploits/unintentional advantages and is highly hypocritical.

It is no different from event exploits that were being purposely failed to be farmed, where their response was essentially that events are intended to be completed and shouldn’t reward failure. In fact, I’d say this one is much worse given people who have already completed it no longer have access to it unless they perform some gymnastics. Much like the mental gymnastics you have to come up with to act like this isn’t highly hypocritical on Anet’s part.

Well, I think about it this way: The game mechanics allow a precursor as input for the MF together with other exotics, what – in my opinion – shouldn’t be the case in the first place.

I don’t really have a problem with them allowing a precursor as input. It is after all of exotic quality. There are many examples of items having worth above what its quality suggests it should be.

Furthermore, there are two very simple ways to avoid having this happen to you:

1) Bank the precursor
2) Look at the items you are putting in the forge. The item avatar for Dusk is quite unique, and is only used for Dusk and Naegling I believe.

Anet easily has the best customer support out of the games I’ve played yet it’s kind of worrying they’d take the time to deal with something like this when there are probably more pressing support issues. This guy made a frustrating mistake and I feel for him but so do a lot of other players who can’t be reimbursed.

I sold a Sam for 175g two weeks ago and now it’s 300 – 400g. Can I be reimbursed? Thanks. Oh and that few 100g worth of rare GS I threw into the MF was a mistake I’d love to have those back…
