This is what cracks me up. The same people complaining about being zerged are more than happy to run over the top of someone roaming solo. The justification for this is also laughable. It sucks for the competitive guilds in the matchups that the score is so dependent on fairweathers. I bet SBI doesn’t have any fairweathers out and about, but YB’s are in full force. The once something flips the table, the fairweathers will be on the opposite side of the spectrum.

This is true and something I’ve been saying to guild mates. One solid day of scoring where we noticeably close the gap and you’d probably see our queues again. Of course, it can be a catch 22… can that even be achieved with the numbers that are out right now.

I really don’t care for zerg fights at all to be blunt. I mean I follow around on one my Guards occasionally to leech wxp and bags but yeah. So I haven’t tried it on Ranger.

I like it, especially the outnumbered fights. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s the ability to disengage but I find outnumbered fights a lot harder on my ranger compared to mesmer and thief.

Another thing I forgot to mention earlier about how it made it onto my utility bar: it’s also a stun-breaker. With no stability, two stunbreakers is nice.

I am happy to test out SotW though. I think it’s something like an extra 92 regen per sec with my healing power.

Sword is annoying as kitten for me for reasons mentioned above. At this point in time I’d rather have the 5 bleed stacks (optimally) every 5 seconds and some extra damage (however miniscule) from axe AA.

I’m also quite jealous of the Frostfang, as it’s one of the few legendaries I actually want (I’ll never have a legendary unless it gets easier to make or I spend real world money haha).

I made Frostfang, sold it because I changed my mind, then changed my mind again and made another to keep, lol. I changed my whole outfit to suit it. I have Kudzu and Dreamer too, but unless I feel like becoming a Legendary Bowbear I doubt they’ll see much use any more. I would like to try shortbow at some point though.

I struggled to find roamers this week, it’s the nature of a lopsided match-up I suppose.
Admittedly all my clips were only from Monday to Wednesday. I spent the rest making the videos. This was the first video I’ve ever made so I had to find some suitable editing software and then learn how to do the basics.

Hard to answer something so subjective. I have Volcanus on a red/orange fire themed Warrior and it suits. Can you post a picture of your warrior currently and then maybe a preview with volcanus?

Yes I haven’t seen a whole lot of Nature’s Voice rangers out and about. One I dueled in 3rd video I assume was running it. Guard is just used as a regen heal, the only problem is if the guard circle is too far away from the fight I occasionally forget to set my pet on the target again ;_;

My gear is still a bit all over the place, since in the first week of roaming I was using some silly power/vit heavy set-up. So half my armour is Dire, the other half is Carrion, same for weapons (Dire axe, carrion torch/dagger). Settlers/apothecary trinkets though.

I have about 1900 – 1950 toughness currently in WvW with bloodlust etc, so I’m not entirely sure that changing to more Dire will be necessary for me, I may just leave it as is.

I can post my build/current gear up soon I guess, but the main stats are roughly 1925 tough, 1925 condition dmg, 1621 vit, 600 Hp in WvW with all my buffs up.

At some point I’ll probably try and farm wxp hard to get Fortitude just for overkill.

I’m curious what you’re reasoning is behind using “Protect Me” in so many of the clips, over using Signet of Renewal more often, or even dropping that and picking up Signet of the Wild for higher constant regen (it looks like you have healing power of 1000+ so it would be worth it).

Yeah, I know where you’re coming from. It was mostly there as a safety net for anyone who was capable a lot of burst, but in a lot of the fights it wasn’t needed/used. When it was used, it probably wasn’t even used at appropriate times (one awesome moment where I used it right as my pet died whistles). However, I do have shouts traited so in addition to protecting against heavy burst it provides swiftness and regen (although really I have enough of the regen boon as it is).

9/10 fights I usually find my opponent first and change utilities as needed. Anyone I suspect is going to hit me hard with condition damage I get rid of Protect me and add signet of renewal.

Healing Power is approximately 600 in WvW. I’ve run with Signet of Wild a few times and it works as well. The only problem is for disengaging, Protect Me helps a lot.

Protect me is definitely the first utility I’d remove in my set-up, but it still has its uses. Without sword I have less access to evades.

I understand the pet choice, but I’m wondering if you think it would be worth dropping the 10 points you have in Beastmastery for reduced Shout cooldown to go 10 in Marksmanship for Malicious Training to make your spiders immobilizes that much longer.

Hmm, you know it’s something I haven’t really looked into yet. I’ll definitely consider all the trade-offs.

A few weeks ago I started building up my ranger for proper WvW roaming. After messing around for two weeks and being fairly successful, I decided to record some roaming from the current match-up and make some amateur videos.

Notes:

- I use a/d & a/t because I really don’t like sword. It just bugs me and with my connection it’s a disaster. More rubberbanding is not something I need. Of course, this makes disengaging difficult at times, but I do have near-permanent swiftness. I’m also a sucker for a close-range Axe 2 whenever possible.

- I made my own build, but for all I know it’s exactly the same as an already established one. I didn’t really research builds, but I’m pretty much a condition/bunker/shout heal ranger.

- My ranger’s make-over for WvW is fresh, so my gear is still a work in progress. Legendary Axe, exotic torch/dagger, exotic accessories, ascended backpiece, ascended amulet, exotic rings. Using cheapo 60/70 food.

- These videos are intended to serve an introduction. In the future I hope to condense the week’s footage into one video with higher quality fights.

- Stay tuned for the 3rd video. It involves a duel with a ranger I assume to be using a similar build. It also involves me getting my kitten kicked by some crazy (to me) d/d ele.

I am still pretty raw and make plenty of mistakes, but I’m getting there.

Well BP Hills was nice while it lasted, pity someone had to resort to zoom hacks to destroy our siege. The few of us left in BP BL would have had a rough time defending against your blob anyways but that was the icing on the cake.

You can hit that AC by shooting over the gate quite easily. It is a bad spot to put ACs.

You can hit the back of lords room from around the corner outside of Lords.

I hid 3x in the Lords room of Hills during Week 1 of Leagues as a Guard, I kid you not. Of course, it’s easier when the people taking it pvdoor’d their way in. Often don’t bother sweeping when that is the case.

most of the serious WvW players on SBI are wishing we were fighting SoR where there were no fairweathers and no queues, only an abundance of fights and opportunities to learn.

I’d say a lot of us would rather be in match-ups with two of FA, Mag, SoS or maybe YB/TC rather than being stuck between two terrible choices (roflstomp or be roflstomped) thanks to the super idea that is leagues.

Funny how one of your posts talking in detail about your use of perplexity runes has gone missing since last time I looked. A few weeks ago I had a quick peek at the post history of the 4 – 5 people defending perplexity runes in the other thread – only one didn’t have past post history saying they use them, and it wasn’t you.

So basically we’re at the same spot again. Players who rely on perplexity as a crutch defending the runes. Oddly enough though, I haven’t actually run into as many people using them lately. Maybe I’ve been lucky.

As I said in another thread, sold Frostfang for 2,200g (1870g after fees) just yesterday.

I was initially (and still am, somewhat) against legendaries being sellable on the TP but I am glad that I was able to sell Frostfang. I had a change of heart essentially. I wanted another legendary + my ranger needed an ascended axe so I put two and two together – but the skin doesn’t suit my ranger at all and after all that’s pretty much the main point of legendaries. So I sold it, and now I have enough $$$ to make any legendary I want (well, besides Eternity) instead.

I’ll probably think it through a bit better this time

ps. Oh the things I’d do if I could unsoulbind items. I have two legendaries that now get very little use, and a volcanus or two I’d love to replace with Sunrise/Twilight. Man, I wish I could sell my soulbound legendaries!

For more offtopic nonsense: point differentials in WvW mean next to nothing. Once the outcome of the match has been decided the vast majority of losing servers tend to lose the motivation for play for ppt, or play at all. This is true for pretty much every matchup. The only thing the differential really indicates is how early in the week the losing side gave up.

FA was beating SBI by 10 percent plus almost the entire time. It was only close to even the first few hours of the match and SBI did surge in the middle but never overtook FA. FA is a stronger server generally speaking. If SBI does beat them, as I said before it will be a big upset.

To put this on topic, there probably won’t be a tie for 1st place in Silver, Gold or Bronze. It could happen but probably won’t.

On Tuesday afternoon of week 1, FA had a 6k lead over SBI. That’s how close it was.
They pulled away on Tuesday afternoon.
Not that it really matters, but if you’re going to post ‘facts’, at least make sure they are accurate.
It wouldn’t be that big of an upset to be honest. Both servers are very even overall. The winner in a FA-SBI matchup generally comes down to the third server. In this case it’s Dragonbrand.
Having Dragonbrand in the matchup hurts SBI more than FA.
SBI and FA are similar strength in NA time and Oceanic time.
SBI is superior in SEA time and FA is superior in Euro time.
So overall it’s very equal. The difference lies in Dragonbrand’s playtime. They are strong in SEA time, minimizing SBI’s PPT capability, whereas Dragonbrand is almost nonexistent in Euro time therefore FA is able to tick high PPT in their strong timezone.
When FA played SBI a few weeks before league, Maguuma was the third server and due to their strong EU time, it minimized FA’s ppt potential during EU and thus FA was promptly neutered overall.
Whatever happens, hopefully it’s fun. =)

I sold a Frostfang for 2,200G today after it being on the TP for less than 24 hours. People must really hate that world completion, it was like 400g profit after fees (I spent about 1100g on it + the stuff I had just accumulated, particularly from clovers). The precursor crafting will drag them down for sure you would think, unless the crafting requires a ridiculous amount of materials. However, as mentioned above, the market will always be there due to the world completion requirement.

As far as karma goes, it’s very easy to obtain if you WvW a lot and always do daily/monthly. I think I’ve come across ~ 1M since they nerfed it in various ways. I’ve made three legendaries, all with rng trolling me hard and each taking at least 1.2M karma, and I’m just about to hit 4 million again. I suppose it is somewhat scarce these days if you aren’t WvWing a lot like I am.

SBI is just a numbers server. Little skill when numbers are equal or close. Large numbers mean lazy players. When you have 50 on 20 you don’t need to be good and you don’t need to be creative. I’ve seen too many run when they aren’t supported with their large zerg, so if they play other servers with equal numbers I won’t put my money on SBI.

Just wondering, are there any NA servers that consistently do successful temple runs/World Bosses during Oceanic afternoon/evening/night? Usually I just try to do these events asap after reset on my home server but soon I will be unable to. I suspect the temple runs will be a bit of a stretch, but surely there is an NA server that actually has a decent number of people turning up to World Bosses in Oceanic time? i.e – 6 hours < time now (3;22am server) < +2 hours is the 8 hour window I’m particularly talking about.

And if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned.

Depends what scenarios you’re talking about. I mean Mesmer excels roaming but may be lower on the zerg totem pole. Rangers are pretty solid roaming (ignore bowbears) but not as useful as other professions in zergballs. Similarly for thief I guess. All of the above have a place in small groups.

I’d love to see SoR implode just quietly but I won’t hold my breath.
