There is no GvG in Guild Wars 2, you must be confused.

There’s no a dedicated place to do GvG, but it actually exists.

It seems since certain guilds came back to your server, Baruchos on the forum have a very flawed view of their own servers performance and/or try to belittle others.

Here you’re wrong. Since all those guilds returned we’ve won 150k points and the biggest amount of rating we’ve lost in one week is less than 14k. When we started matches against PS, we used to lose by 40k points, but in the last match we won them.

Since new matchup formula, we’ve seen that the differences between us and upper servers aren’t that big as we though. We’ve beaten Deso, we’ve faced Elona, JS didn’t win with an enormous difference against PS and AR (servers we know a lot), and in this week we’re winning Kodash and we have SF close, noting that weekends are our weakness.

And btw, we’re not trying to belittle others. It’s ridiculous, since our best fights have been with servers with less coverage, so they have all of our respect…

Right… same story for every server:" But…but we hate blobbing, we were just forced to by the other evil servers…"

I remember you guys from Blobbers Bay are pretty known for zerging, too. The only thing that changed are 2-3 mercenary guilds switching (back) to your server and suddenly every Barucho seems to think he evolved to a highly coordinated elite server…

Seriously?

Emmm, how do we need to say it? We don’t hate blobs, we hate servers that only knows to play with it and have no other alternatives…

Most guild that left the server were out for 3 months, but the game is here since September. Before they quit the server, we could manage to get 5th (This week is the first that we have beaten our own rating record). So the server was good with all this “Mercenary guilds”.

Now we’re stronger, cause everybody has learned. All those guilds went to T1, so they took experience with most populated servers. But the people who remained also learned to play without dedicated guilds.

The problem about blobbing is not if servers do it or not. The thing is that most of servers of that list actually only knows to play with blobs. Of course Baruch also do blobs, but cause sometimes we’re forced to do it.

We come from matching against PS and AR for 7 weeks and in there weren’t such blobs as we see with new servers.

An example of what is doing something else than blobbing. Last night I was playing in SR map, and we had 2 commanders, so instead of going in one big blob, we split and while DsD was pushing in north, there was a zerg of randoms controlling all the south.

How about instead of complaining about it all day, you get back inside your tower and build some more siege. It can’t be much but I’m sure if you really try, you’ll find room for one or two more AC.

We don’t want to fight with bunkers (is boring for us), so we will complain all day XD

For parts:

@skcamow. I first run a build with masterful reflection, but I felt it didn’t do much job, since mostly it’s only 2s of reflection and it only reflected a maximum of 5-6 projectiles. I mainly use F4 when I’m in the middle of the enemy zerg and there you don’t receive a lot of projectiles. A 0/20/0/30/20 build could also be great.
Your trait changes aren’t quite useful to me due to my play style, but they have sense, bring more survivability and reflection. Just personal preferences. Blink is the skill that I use most, in battle and for traveling. If I don’t have blink is like fighting with 1 sword only xd

@Yuchen. Now that you say about sigils, I’ve just learned that they share CD, so when either of both sigils is activated, the other has also the same cd. With that, I’m thinking changing sigil of generosity, since I already have condition cleaning through Temporal Curtain.
I don’t know how exactly sigil of nullification and reflection works, but see “Awesome WvW reflection damage”. With feedback I receive 6 retaliations, with temporal curtain, 0. And with Chaos storm, 4. I need to test more switching between a a focus with nullification and one without it to see if it’s worth
The problem with fire sigil is that never does critical damage, it only scales with power and can hit up to 5 foes. With this build, where you rely in critical damage, fire sigil won’t do much damage.

@Zumi. I posted Mimic as an optional utility. All depends of play style. I’ve never used it in WvW and I want to test it, but now I have no time.

@Suburban. This two videos shows what I said, and there are 2 reasons.
1- They have the minimum and the maximum power you can reach in PvP. I’ve put those stats in build creator to see how much damage longbow autoattack has and what happens? Lowest autoattack (furthest shot) damage with highest power is even higher than highest damage (closest shot) with lowest power.
2- Only autoattack damage is affected by distance. Videos also show full Rapid fire (skill 2) damage, and if you see them another time, you will see that they do nearly the same final damage, when the high power build has 1388 more power than the other.

Reflection Guide
After investigating a lot, I’ve finally found how reflection works. Most important things are:

  • Reflection damage is not affected by power. See low and high power videos.
  • Reflection damage it is affected by critical chance and critical damage. See low critical damage and highest damage with 1 attack (same precision) videos and compare with power videos.
  • Projectiles reflected also count as your projectiles, so they activate your sigils. See Sigil of purity video.

Reflecting damage
So after seeing these things and all the videos, the best way to upgrade the reflection damage is having the best critical chance and critical damage possible.. Luckily, we can use set that hasn’t power as +stat, but also the other 2 stats are useful to us. If there was combinations like precision, crit damage, toughness/vitality, this build would be extremely op xd.

Sigils
The most amazing thing is when reflected projectiles deal critical hits. As I said before, sigils are activated by these projectiles.
But I put sigil of Nullification for a different reason, to mitigate the effect of retaliation. As you can see in video WvW reflection zerg vs zerg, when I’m using staff I receive a lot of retaliation (you’re hitting a lot of people). This caused the build to be an autokiller sometimes, so this sigil solves this.
I’ve discovered that sigils share cd, so it isn’t worth to go with 2 critical sigils.

Critical chance or critical damage?
After seeing the videos, it’s clear that critical damage is better than critical chance in terms of DPS. But I prefer to maximize first the critical chance and then put the maximum critical damage possible, mainly because sigils will activate more often.
Another reason is that if you want to upgrade a lot the critical damage you have 2 ways:

  • Using berserker gear. But this build is for zerg fights and the most important thing is to survive, and power doesn’t count on reflection damage.
  • Lowering your critical chance by cavalier gear.
For example, with the same build but with cavalier weapons and amulet, you lose 12% of critical chance, while gaining 19% of critical damage. Sigils will be affected quite a lot, since they would activate a 7,2% less. It might not seem a big chance, but when you reflect like 60 projectiles, this 7,2% is a noticeable amount.
Finally, Common critical chance is around 68%, that includes cheaper food and not all the stacks. This is a thing to consider, cause the maximum critical chance is with 25 stacks of perception sigil and best and most expensive food (25p every 30 minutes). So normally your critical chance will be lower and losing even more precision is not worth.

Videos
Most videos are made with a slightly different build. Different trinkets and 0/30/0/20/20, so there’s no Temporal Enchanter, but I got Masterful reflection instead. I tried a lot Masterful Reflection, but it hasn’t been worth in big fights, so I changed for Temporal Enchanter.

Low power
High power
Low critical damage
Sigil of purity
Highest damage with a single attack
Highest number ever reach

Ansau.7326

Since glamour build was nerfed in april, I’ve been developing a new way to go for WvW when fighting zergs. I realize that feedback does a lot of damage, so I focused the build on reflecting projectiles.

I’ve also investigated how reflection works and how you can improve the damage done when you reflect projectiles, so in the next post there’s a reflection guide that explains all the mechanic. At the end of the reflection guide I will put some videos where you can see what this build brings and how works.

Build
Project Mesmer Build
Max Numbers (Sword/focus): 77% of critical chance (without fury), 65% of critical damage, 2794 of armor, 18,3k of health and 2644 of power.

Weapons
The most important weapon is Focus, since provides the second best way to reflect projectiles. Sword for blurred frenzy. For the secondary set, I find that staff does the best job. You won’t be using it quite a lot, so it’s only there for sigil of perception, chaos storm and chaos armor.

Utilities and elite

  • Blink: For an emergency escape if you’re in troubles. It’s also good to reach a zerg, since mesmers doesn’t have good long-distance speed.
  • Sharper images: It’s used basically to spam F4 so you will have at least 2s of invulnerability. Remember that in a zerg fight the most important thing is to survive.
  • Feedback: Your most powerful weapon.

Optional utilities are Null field, Mimic and Decoy. The skill changed should be Sharper images, since the others are essential.
For elites, the best choice is Time Warp. Even with the nerfs is a huge combo field and also helps people.
You can try racial elites, but I’ve only tested sylvaris, and they suck quite a bit in WvW. I’ve looked a little other races. Norn has the Snow leopard form, which is great to escape. Humans have Avatar of Melandru or Reaper of grenth, I like more this last one combined with 3s of distortion, blurred frenzy… Finally, Asuras have Summon D-Series golem which is a golem that creates a reflecting bubble, but there’s only 1 video in youtube and I don’t have an alt asura to test in WvW.

Traits
The traits are based on 3 main things, maximizing the damage done when reflecting projectiles, upgrading feedback and having survivability tools.
The distribution is 0/30/0/30/10.

  • Duel. Trait I for a longer blink, Trait IV for quicker blurred frenzy and Trait X for clone creation.
  • Inspiration: Traits II and IX to upgrade feedback and Trait VIII to have focus as a reflective weapon.
  • Illusions: Trait VI to reset shatters, so you can have 2 Distortion in a moment.

Set
This set provides you the best way to deal a lot of damage with reflection while being quite tanky, so the best choice is to run full Knight Set (armor and weapons).
For trinkets, to maximize the damage it’s better to have a mix between knight and cavalier: ascended (Knight “+precision” and cavalier) or exotic (Cavalier-Ruby and Knight-Emerald). With exotic you lose 2% of critical chance, 4% critical damage and 60 of toughness.

Runes
For runes I’ve chosen 4 Rune of Rage and 2 Rune of the Monk. Runes of Monk are for the +15% boon duration. Runes of rage provides you long fury. I’ve discovered that you get the fury when you’re stuck, not when you hit (As the description says). See the next video:
How Rune of Rage works

Sigils
For sigils I’ve changed to Perception in Sword and Restoration in Focus ans Staff. Until more tests with Sigil of Nullification, is better to go with restoration, as it provides very good healing.

Food
I’ve chosen offensive food, to bring more damage when reflecting(+12% critical chance and +10% critical damage).

Finally, one screen to show the awesomeness of reflection xd

The problem is upgrading healing power you’re wasting other stats, like vitality or toughness, when in the end they do the same thing.

Healing power is only useful in professions which have a lot of healing skills, like guardians. But for a mesmer, who only relies on healing skill, regeneration boon and mantras if traited is not worth.

The max of healing power you can have is 1940, with foods and 25 stacks of its sigil.
This means you passively heal around 7500 every 20s. Is like having another ether feast more or less. In the other hand, with no healing power, regeneration heals you 2,6k every 20s. Yeah, the difference is quite big, but you’re loosing 40% of your possible stats to reach this healing…

For Recovery Mantras is completely useless. You lose 40% of your stats to heal nearly 3k, while with no points on healing power you heal 2,6k.

I have a question, how does healing power affect restorative mantras (and the regeneration granted by phantasms?)

Every healing skill has a coefficient that scales with healing power. It means that if the coefficient is 1, every point in healing will heal 1 more.

For Restorative Mantras this coefficient is 0,2. So to heal just 100 more you need 500 + in healing power. As you can see, investing in healing to upgrade restorative mantras is not worth.

For regeneration boon is even worst, since its coefficient is just 0,125.

My point of view, Nemesis:

You have done this build with the trinity idea in mind. In other games where the trinity exists, this build could work perfectly, but in this game the point is not to be selfish.

But in this game you need to be able to do more than just DPS or more that just tank. That’s why people try to tell you that sacrificing all the utilities and traits just to have a little more direct DPS isn’t worth.

With a phantasm build maybe you won’t be able to reach the DPS of your build, but sure it will be like 90% of yours. and you will be able to help people with other things.

Changing Utility for Teamplay is fine. But changing weapon for Teamplay is somehow rude. That’s why i never talk about weapon based skills for Anti Projectile.

That’s because I have mesmer mentality and I see further from skills descriptions, so I’m able to use teamplay skills as offensive and offensive skills as teamplay ones.

And for the focus trait you’re right, my mistake.

As I though before, you see wall of reflection as an addition to a build. But that wasn’t my point. What I was trying to say is that mesmers can easily outperform reflexion if they invest just a little.

With just 20 points in inspiration I have cd reduction for both feedback and temporal curtain and I’m able to give for sure 2x aoe regeneration every 15s. 5 points obligated in illusions, so there are 45 more points you can spend in what you want. What a lose of trait…

And finally, I will repeat, I’m not trying to find a better skill than wall of reflection, just prove that mesmer is better in reflecting projectiles. The same happens with guardian and healing. Restorative mantras may be one of the best aoe healing, but with a guardian you can easily heal much more.

I wasn’t refereeing of how to beat a single skill, I was refereeing of global possibilities.

The problem of guardian is that only has 1 skill to reflect projectiles, and if you want to upgrade it you need to sacrifice some traits, while mesmers can incorporate reflecting skills with no problems.

I’m doing a build around reflecting projectiles. Let guardians focus on healing and condition removal.

And by the way, with only feedback and temporal curtain without traits yo can reflect the same with wall of reflection and his trait.

In term of anti projectile Guardian is far more superior than Mes.

For anti projectile Guardian wall of Reflect last for 10sec and the trait is “Recharge -20% and longer duration” Both Feedback and Wall are 40sec Initial CD without trait.

Here you’re wrong.
Mesmers not only have feedback, but also iWarden and temporal curtain as an aoe projectile reflection. Then they have mimic, distortion and Mirror for self reflection.

Mesmers also have other advantages, like better synergized lines and reflecting traits, and the fact that knight and cavalier set provides offensive stats while upgrading mesmer lacking, toughness.
Unlucky, Guardians are more restricted to set possibilities, so neither their reflecting damage and the reflecting possibilities will never be as much as mesmers can reach.

Here are my changes:
- For me, traits are fine. That extra 15% damage from 25 in inspiration won’t do a noticeable job, since you already have Empowered Illusions and in WvW phantasms die quite a lot if you’re not running a phantasm build.
- You need some condition cleaning. I would change Sharper Images for Arcane Thievery.
- I would also change Illusionary Defense for Master of Manipulation, since you have 2 manipulation utilities.
- I would change Accuracy sigils for Bloodlust (more power), Perception (more precision), Fire (aoe damage) or Generosity (best condition cleaner in game).

Will our useless weapons ever be reworked

in Mesmer

Ansau.7326

Scepter? Useless? Nah. Awkward, sure, but definitely not useless.

And the torch is only half useless.

Problem is.. Every other profession (some in far worse condition than us) could ask the same question. Maybe they’ll be a weapon update patch sometime this year too.

Scepter is only viable in PvP, since confusion is nearly useless in pve and scepter skills aren’t aoe, so it’s not very useful in WvW. But even in pvp sword is better than scepter. You need to stack a huge amount of condition damage to do confusion a good main way to deal damage, while with sword you have already a good dps even if you don’t upgrade your damage.

That is what makes the scepter such a broken weapon.

The problem of torch is it’s cd for what you give, even focus (a weapon with long cd) has lower cd than torch and provides you better skills: swiftness (1 of the 2 sources of swiftness for mesmer) plus an aoe cc, and a aoe phantasm with highest damage that also reflects projectiles.

Mesmers need an overall tone down with damage. Here is the proof. A heavy armor test dummy dies within 2 secs maybe a fraction of a second less than two seconds with an iduelist and extra shatter damage to spare.

Mesmer and Thieve aren’t just good at 1 v 1. They are great in small groups and in the case of mesmer great in zergs too. There are other classes that’s oped in zergs like staff eles but they are very weak in other areas. Mesmers and Thieves are the only 2 classes that can have the SAME build and be good at every aspect of the game. DD eles to some degree are like that but not quite as good (they can pull out a staff and zerg pretty good) and they have 1 build. Thieves and Mesmers not only does everything well they can do it with different builds and weapons sets too.

So maybe, instead of asking to nerf mesmers, complain about lack of variety of builds in other classes. You just want to kill a well made class in this game cause other classes are not as well as mesmer. What a genius.

if mesmer is balanced at high skill level what is the problem? if arena net were to balance around average skill level it would pretty much be a death for this game to ever be an e-sport.

Problem is you can’t get to high skill level without going through low and mid skill levels. The game isn’t good enough to make people put up with getting completely owned for day and days just to get better. Why is it fair for Thieves and Mesmers to enjoy the game right away where all other classes have to suffer at the early stages?

Because the game have never been and will never be developed around 1vs1… And sorry, but most people aren’t owned day by day in PvP. I’ve seen a lot of people with engineers, eles, and guardians who owns fights.

1vs1 is a small part of this game, which is bigger than designers thought it would be cause players do 1vs1 in WvW.

Maybe there’s a conspiraton from mesmers who have kidnapped game designers, so they cannot listen how mesmers are cruel and they’re enjoying dominating GW.

Moa Morph needs fix

not glass canon mesmer
soldier armor set and bers trinket/guns

Lets be clear:
- Phantasmal build (10/30/0/25/5)
- Runes of air.
- Foods.
- Sure he has +30pc damage to illusions.

With food, he can easily have nearly 50pc of critical chance and 96pc of critical damage, plus +3000 of attack.
Phantasms have nearly 70pc of critical chance, combined with Sharper Images…

Maybe is not a pure glass cannon in terms of what it means, but for a phantasmal build is nearly the most offensive way to go. Soldier armor is just to be not so squishy.

If you think a roamer thief has to survive to a offensive phanstamal build beeing transformed with 40pc of life and hitted by a iduelist while stunned from magic bullet, then it would probably be OP, but from the other side…

PD: My point wasntt to say if he went full glass cannon or not. What I was trying to say is that everyone who see a kill with a Moa stop thinking and start to write Moa is OP, without even seeing deeply the match or realising what other things brang up the win.

It is a glass cannon mesmer (4900 and +5200 from iduelist)

Also, Thief with 40pc of the life + moa + iduelist + magic bullet + phantasmal haste + bit lucky (not hitted by thiefs guild) + stupid thief who attacks with 5 stacks of confusion when downed.

There are much more factors than moa for that win…

PD: He is also a good mesmer.

What are serious WvW Mesmers running now?

in Mesmer

Ansau.7326

Power. The problem with the new confusion nerf is that you need to bump at maximum the condition damage to have a decent damage with confusion. So this lets you to 2 options, carrion or rabid. With these possibilities you will be a little bit squishy in WvW, since you’ll be upgrading 2 offensive stats.

With power, you don’t need to have as much as you can, and you can invest stats to be more defensive.

You may not think it’s op, but actually it is.

I only support the change on skill 2. That extremely shot range is annoying. Also 15s of cd is quite a lot, since only teleports you and creates a clone, which can die easily.

Confusion is not a problem, since you can permanent put nearly 8-9 stacks. Also note that downed clones also applies confusion. Otherwise, confusion deals much more than bleeding, so your change would nerf damage for downed memers.

Phantasm is fine for me, but it has to be counted as a phantasm and take benefit from traits.

Honestly not many of the Legendaries appeal to me for my mesmer. Finally finished Infinite Light and usually run sword / focus and Greatsword for general PvE / WvW. Annoyingly I sort of like Rodgort out of all the torch skins, but the torch for the mesmer I find a little underwhelming to justify making it since I hardly use a torch.

Infinite light should be considered as a legendary weapon. It’s more beautiful and awesome than most of legendary crap that anet created xd

Moving the trait doesn’t solve anything. And there are 3 reasons:

- Moving this trait to 3d minor or become it a grandmaster duel trait won’t do anything. Because mesmers would redistribute the traits to get it. By the way, some phantasm builds already uses 30 points in duel, so in the end it will be the same as now.

- Moving this trait to illusions (most reasonable one) will make to move one of illusions to duel. And since most traits of illusions are based on shatters, it has no sense.

- Moving this trait to another rather than duel or illusions it’s even more nonsense. It is based on cond. damage and critical hits. Chaos and inspiration are discarded, since they are defensive lines. Domination traits are based on cc and doing more damage. It’s true that there are some traits about conditions, but they don’t depend on critical hits.

So if we want to be logical, Sharper images can only be in duel line.

Where was i prooven wrong your arguments simply says "the skill is fine because its fine and we say so "

you guys are the ones barking at me as if i said “remove mesmers” when all i said was the skill should be fixed so that it does not pull players over walls except when they are standing on it you know like every other single pull in the game

Your argument is: That skill is broken because I don’t like what it does, and because of that, all mesmers are losers cause they take profit of a “broken” mechanic.
My argument is: This skill is not broken because it does what the description says, not what mesmer would want to do… And by the way, I never said that itV is fine in terms of balance.

Yep, he’s a thief, how predictable. Nothing to see here folks, just another person with a poor understanding of Mesmer mechanics complaining about them.

stop defending broken mechanics we all know what makes the mesmer pull broken is the ability to pull people over walls and even through doors in some very rare cases .

same goes for the ones asking for fix the pull time is fine the way it pulls is what’s broken.

simple fix would be for it to “Respect” Line of Sights.

Nothing is broken, it’s just what is meant to be. Moving everyone around it. See this image http://i.imgur.com/U1iXF.jpg.
And by the way, other professions can also pull you from walls. If you don’t want to be pulled, then don’t go to the edge. Cause with itV you can only pull people from walls if they’re in the edges.

one thing is pull players Standing on Walls and another is pulling players Behind the walls sometimes even from up to 100-200 range away from the wall.

Still is not broken. I think you don’t understand what means broken.

Complaining about too much pull range is a different thing than what you and Phoenix do, so please stop saying things that aren’t true.

who the heck is Phoenix lol and as i said pull range aint the issue issue is that it ignores LoS and pulls players that are Behind walls unlike other pulls that simply pull players over walls.

Phoenix is the creator of this post, who is complaining about things that aren’t true.

And now, you just have proved that I’m right, cause Into the Void pull nearby foes, not just a foe. So it no broken, it works as it is intended to do.

After this last sentence I figured out that you are complaining about a skill and a whole class when you haven’t even read itV description…

Phoenix, you’re wrong.

The mechanic is referred to the non-time cast of secondary effect of skills. You want 1s between temporal curtain and itV because you say it’s op, since you don’t have time to react and avoid the second effect, but other skills have the same way to work, so I’m right when I say what you want to change is a mechanic that affects more skills, not just the way only itV works.

For the unique, again you’re wrong. Throw Mine is the same, but with knockback instead of pull, a ground-targeted skill, with no time cast in secondary effect and 1080 of range.

PD: I’ve noticed that you’re also wrong when you say “pull unpredictable” in original post. To know why see this picture.

Phoenix, you don’t realize that other professions can do exactly the same. See the skills that posted Aneirin Cadwall.

You’re just telling to nerf one skill when you want to nerf a mechanic of the game that a lot of skills benefits from it, seems not fair to me.

Moreover, you’re telling to add a 1s cast to into the void, so by the same way, all secondary effect that hasn’t cast time should also have. That would also affect spirits from ranger, for example…
