Please stop trying to put words in my mouth, I know what i meant and I am sure others understood what I meant so stop trying to twist it.

I understood perfectly. Let’s say I am a customer in a restaurant and you are the waiter. I call you over and say “my fries are burnt. I can’t enjoy burnt fries, please bring me another plate of fries that are not burnt.” and you say “Oh, I am so sorry, here’s a cup of tea. Enjoy!”

The faster you get what you want the faster you quit which is why rng is in place

Not really. Most of the time, the faster you’re frustrated the faster you quit. Now if you’re fully decked and don’t want/need anything anymore, maybe – but that should take a long time.

I’m one of the kitteny RNG accounts. When I first came back to the game (back in September of last year) I was getting decent exotic drops. Since the patch with the NPE – barely any, maybe (and that is maybe) once a week I might get an exotic. Result? For now I still log in when daily comes out, do it and log off. Today I almost didn’t even log in. No reason why anymore. Same ol’ same ol’ stuff, same glitches, same runs, same no luck. Due to all the changes, Since beginning of January I stopped buying gems, from the $20-$50 gems a month I used to. I just got some gems with gold. Bought shadow dyes and didn’t get a single one. RNG. I got better things to do than farm 3-4 hours for 25 bolts of silk. Yep. I’m one of those Western consumers, if it’s fun, I do it, if it isn’t … oh well. Right? I even started reconsidering buying HoT right now.

I have clocked in over 6000 hours in Guild Wars 2… and no epic drops or loot, no precursors or jackpot items. And honestly, it has ruined the game for me. …

Unless Anet both revises the RNG system to stop rewarding RNG luck over effort and investment, AND compensates players for the past hours invested into the game, I am going to continue looking for a better game that treats players as a valued part of the game.

So no, RNG is not a numbers game. RNG is just GW2’s scarlet letter. Anet should fix this RNG nonsense immediately and at least try make amends, perhaps by awarding some sort of RNG tokens based on /age. All this bad RNG is doing now, is driving players away from GW2.

Totally agreed. That is why I already said that on top of not spending RL money anymore for buying gems, after the “luck” I had with buying shadow dye kits, I am done with participating in RNG as well. I will still play GW2 as for now it is the only game that offers me enough immersion to give me an hour or two a day of complete relaxation, but I’ll keep looking, just like you. And to be honest, even if I DO know that I will buy HoT, it will not be from any sense of excitement about it – GW2 and ArenaNet are just going lower and lower on the disappointment slope for me – I will buy it only so I can still play with my friends.

Ya some of the stuff they’ve added to this game is ridiculous. Super sayian charr hair, neon colored hair, these wings and the list goes on. Makes me wonder if I’m still in Tyria anymore…

I have to agree with this one. I left that last game that had these wings, now I feel like I’m right back there. Everyone’s wearing them and frankly it looks ridiculous.

What exactly do they have to do with Tyria? Where’s the lore behind these?

It reminds me of a Korean game I used to play a few years ago. Desperate for cash game, they actually came up with all kinds of wing models and sizes, the thing was that the game didn’t really have a lore to talk about. That, and also, the fact that with those wings you could, you know, FLY.

I wonder about all the models of gliders that will show up in gemstore in HoT now.

I have 9 lvl 80 characters. On 7 of them I have 97% map completion through pure play. I am not planning on ever finishing the map completion. I loathe the PvP area with a passion. Legendary? Definitely not that attractive to start with, for me at least. Even if I’d get one, I’d probably reskin it. Considering that I’d have to get in WvW so I can craft a legendary that I would use exclusively in PvE from there on… that gives 50 shades of nope.

Right, because in the despair of being proven wrong, now you are requesting proof of what happened yesterday. Of course, I will, as soon as you email me the key to the time machine.
What you are saying is that somehow, I didn’t buy the extractor; after not buying it, I didn’t click it; after not clicking it, I went to the wrong boss thinking it was the Thrasher; then after killing the wrong boss, I deleted the extractor.
Because in other words, it seems way more logical for all of the above to happen than for the game to actually have a glitch (and apparently at the same boss, as others have posted it had happened to them). Besides, it seems that I have no better things to do with my time than come here and read all the illogical and befuddled explanations of people who obviously have never lived in an adult, logical environment.
As from a 40+ years old woman (yes, we do exist in game, and it’s not weird), in the hopes I will not hurt your feelings too much… grow up. Also use some Lecithin.
That in the hopes that in the future you will not insult other people by calling them liars after everything they have written is logical and makes sense while everything YOU have written doesn’t, and you just got kittenhurt because they had the audacity to call you for it.
Also, and again, I hope it doesn’t hurt your feelings much… I don’t have to prove anything to you. Simple as that.

Or, more likely, you didn’t manage to read properly everything I posted. Fairly obvious, don’t you think?

Besides, you kind of fail at logic too.
If I wouldn’t have clicked my extractor, it would still be in my inventory. It isn’t.
If I would have bought the wrong one, there would still be an extra piece of Modrem organ in my inventory. There isn’t.
If I would have killed the wrong boss type – which, of course, can happen, because even if you aim for the Thrasher and defend the Blue for the whole length of the event then enter the breach, it might not be the Thrasher the one you’re seeing, and all that morning coffee you had can give you hallucinations – but, let me not digress, IF I would have killed the wrong boss, there still would be an extra piece in my inventory. there isn’t.

Now, what were you saying?

The fact that the OP has MAXED MF and does not understand what area of RNG it effects speaks volumes.

Per the wiki:

Magic Find.
Magic Find is both an account bonus and a character attribute that increases the chance to receive higher-quality loot from slain foes. With a couple exceptions, it does not affect containers (including champion loot bags), chests, or any other source of loot.

The exceptions are:

  • Containers received from structured PvP reward tracks.
  • Bandit chests in The Silverwastes [citation needed]

There are two components of Magic Find: an account-wide bonus, which applies to all characters on the account, and a character-specific attribute.

Let me try to understand you. Do you really believe that while I spent several hours in Silverwastes, at the time of my MF going that high, I HAD NO BANDIT CHESTS?

Because if you really believe that, then, I am sorry, but I will not even bother putting any kind of value to anything you’ve just wrote. Also, FYI, as it seems you do not know that, when you take over a fort, as well as when you kill a Veteran in the “destroy the Mordrem threat” for the ones that hang around a fort after the attack of the Modrem, and also when you gather rubble, yea, those jungle tendrils and Vile Thrashers, all these, DO NOT DROP BAGS. The loot is direct.

Seriously, some people in this forum make me think that they believe their questionable IQ is the highest possible and everybody else thinks with their toes or their socks even.

I already said that I’ve been doing the Silverwastes since they’ve come up. I know exactly how to use an extractor, I know exactly where the champions are (doh Aidan Savage kitten kitten much? how does that sound, to get pieces of the champions during Vinewrath?!?), checked bag, pieces are not stacked, I still have only one., and btw, Aidan Savage, as Koviko said, pieces do not come in a bag. Most of the stuff doesn’t even come in a bag anymore, appears straight in your inventory if you use a specialized extractor.

So no, checked and re-checked because I couldn’t believe, this has never happened. NO organ drop. Nothing. I attached a screenshot of my bag. As you can see, there’s only one piece of thrasher gas bladder.

Just my two cents.

I’ve been running SW pretty much almost daily since they’ve been up. But there are times when the messed up .. – I don’t even know how to call it – mechanics? RNG? no idea – make me take a few good days break from it.

Take an example today.

So I needed one more gas bladder. Yipee, now we got the gas bladder extractors. Well, apparently they’re as good as the experimental ones, because I still got a “piece of gas bladder”. Why in the world did I spend more bandit crests on a specialized extractor?
Then comes the RNG. I had kept pretty much all bags I’ve got for a while so I’d opened them when my MF is at a max.
Today, yipee, my MF actually got to an unbelievable 467%. Time to open bags.
I got 5 yellows. the rest, blue and greens and tier 5 mats.

Well, definitely cut my appetite for SW for a while.

Same messed up mechanics that made me not buy gems for a while now. I’m sure I’m not the only one. But, as an Old World saying goes “the dogs bark and the caravan just minds its road”. No matter how much we bark, Anet keeps going, no matter what.

The Walk of Shame

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Anyandrell.6238

It is lazyness. I’ve seen it so many times – especially at vinewrath. One time actually I was commanding the middle, we had the misfortune to be swamped by a literal swarm of teragriffs (of all colors, from regulars to champions) and as a result there was ONE player still left alive. I WPed all the way to Camp Resolve (the nightmare vine WP was disputed) and in map chat I kept telling them to WP and kept calling for help all the way running back to VW. Long way to run. When I got there there were about 5 players who had come to help, and finally we got those teragriffs away, but practically ALL the players that had been defeated were still there. Laying on the ground, dead. Of course we failed. I have no idea what was in their mind, that someone will miraculously be able to rez them while fighting over half a dozen teragriffs, or that 4-5 players would be able to fight the teragriffs AND defend the golem?
That was, really, the only VW event that I’ve been to that failed miserably.

Dungeon paths shown in achievements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Anyandrell.6238

Anyandrell.6238

It is not necessarily a matter of having too many lvl 80 characters. The truth is, I do dungeons for the tokens because I like certain pieces of the respective dungeons gear.
I did more or less go in each of the dungeons at least on one path. At one time. With one or another of my characters.

And this is where I have problems. I really want to do all dungeons just for achievements purposes. The thing is, I have no idea what path I did and what path I didn’t do *\(well, except for TA, obviously the path I didn’t do yet is the Aetherblades). The achievements panel doesn’t tell me what paths I did in each dungeon. Only shows 1/4 or 2/5 paths. To go in every dungeon and do every path in the hopes that it will be the one I didn’t do is a little over board (starts being quite similar to the dailies, “gee, you want that? then you do what you wouldn’t normally do” lol).

Seriously now, the achievements are account wide. Is it that hard to actually state in the respective box what exactly has been done?

Well, can't do daily again.

I honestly can’t understand why people can’t really read the description of necro’s skills. Many of them are fields and do put up some good stuff for the group. As for DPS – I have an ele specialized in dungeons with all the zerker gear with a couple celestials thrown in, all ready to put might up, and a necro that I do open world with. I love to take the necro in dungeons or fractals (when I go with guildies and they know I love my necro more than my ele) and the necro not only survives the best of all and is usually the last standing in case of mistakes (it happens) but also… she kills way faster than my ele even using the staff, even if my ele has all kinds of ascended goodies while the necro is in exotics with just an ascended staff. Most of my guild prefer my necro when we go do dungeons or fractals, but then we do them to have fun, not speed running.

So you suck at Dragon Ball? Watch this.

Hroatgar, from the start I’ve seen your problem, and the moment you mentioned WoW (which after reading your first couple of posts I was expecting you would) I was convinced.

You want your character to be stronger. You want it to be best of the best and top of the top, and have your characters in the best of the best and top of the top gear. You want to be able to flaunt that and to feel good about yourself.

Unfortunately you’re going at it the wrong way. The WoW way. Where you’re vertically progressing to better gear and better weapons (and better mounts etc etc) . GW2 is very different. There is no vertical progression. Wearing ascended is not really the best thing ever – look around you, how many people do you see wearing ascended gear? Very very very few. You know why? Because they have transmuted their gear to look different. Because the LOOKS not the stats are the shiznit in GW2. Stats? for one the ascended gear doesn’t give you that much of an advantage. Besides, you can get ascended trinkets in several ways and have them infused for the same result as wearing ascended gear.
You want to be top of the top and show it off and feel good about yourself? Do that list that was suggested to you. In GW2 it’s not just how your looks are – it’s also about your TITLE.

Besides, to be honest, as others already said it on this thread, you want it all, you want it now, and as soon as you get it you leave because you’re bored. Yea. Want some cheese with that whine?

Well, can't do daily again.

As much as I don’t like to have a “double fractal” in the dailies, I can say one thing about the “regular” fractal.

Every time it was in the dailies, I just did a PUG, advertised in LFG saying “lvl 1 for dailies, new to Fractals welcome”. I had the party filled within seconds. Only one time one person dropped before going through the full set of 4, because they had some RL stuff they had to attend to. For the rest, everybody stayed on and we did finish the round of 4 fairly fast, even with newbies to the fractals world, even with people who otherwise hate fractals.

Why? Because I didn’t mind it NOT being a speed run. I saw it as an opportunity to have fun. I explained what was going on, what was supposed to be done, everybody in the party had a great time, and now every time there’s a fractal daily, I have people who were in my “party for fractal newbies” whispering me about going again.

Try to do that. It’s worth it.

As for the map-specific events, I will refrain from commenting on it as I might get another forum suspension, lol

Anyandrell.6238

1)

Exactly what I said. From other festivals you had a letter in your mail giving you the details. You should not have to question in game or check twitter, reddit or the wiki. Period.

2)….

Nobody forces you, but being a “festival” they should give a little bit of thought on the specific player pool, not trying to implement a strategy that works wonders in the Asian markets for the NA/EU. The only thing that they did good (probably there was a smart guy this time when they had the meeting about how to handle this) was to actually give a decent RNG chance to getting more money than you put in. Nevertheless, it is a poorly done thing. IF they would have put some more sought after possible reward (see the chinese dragon mini, for example) and make the timegate shorter, there would have been a serious money-sink. Otherwise, yea, some festival activity: play the lottery for firecrackers and rice cakes. A festival with two events, one being a PvP and the other one a RNG. Awesome!

3)

I didn’t mention it because I didn’t honestly see the need to have this half a mile long post describing all my dialogues.

4)

Again, I didn’t feel the need to describe step by step, but it seems that otherwise you don’t get what I meant. Here we go:
Me: Ok so where are the vendors?
Other Player (OP): where you see the festival icon on the map
Me: I AM at the festival icon and all I see is a crowd of names
OP2: there (sic) here, just look around
Me: (disable UI in the hopes that by removing player names I might be able to see the vendors – nope, all I see is a mass of players, limbs and heads and pets interlocked) decide to just run around watching for the “F: Talk” option to appear.
OP3: why don’t these firecrackers register in the dailies?
Me: (wth firecrackers? where?) running around “F:Interact” appears and I set off firecrackers hanging on the Chinese-style gate. check dailies; in local chat “It didn’t register for me either”
OP4: did you find firecrackers? where?
Me(whisper to OP4): right where I am, party me so you can find me in this crowd, but I don’t think these are the firecrackers we’re supposed to set off
OP4 (whisper to me after partying): cool, now look where I am, this is the vendor with the envelopes.

This is pretty much how it went, you think you might have understood my communication skills, Vepo?

5)

You miss the point. It’s not about what I enjoy to do or not, or about free content or not. It’s about a festival that was put out just half-kittened.

My final conclusion: You have the ability to use the chat to ask questions to those, who may have more information that yourself. You should not be afraid to ask or even the read the chat, which I’m pretty sure others will be asking the same questions you have in mind.

However; even with the perfect event, with all form of media used to inform people, someone somewhere would complain about something.

Read above. Then maybe you’ll realize that from up there on the high horse you’ve put yourself on, you might not be able to see things right.

Also, this is not a perfect event. It did not have “all form of media used to inform people”. And this is not a complaint. It is a constructive criticism. If you didn’t figure it out, oh well, it’s free, nobody asked you to understand it, and nobody forces you to like it. You should not be afraid to ask or even try to read again the post – I’m sure many helpful people would be happy to explain it to you.

No Thanks, Dragonball Daily

Were was the PvP side of all the Living Story events?

Not all events have to have content for all parts of the game.

I think you somehow confuse Living Story (which is like Personal Story, and no PvP in that either) with festivals. Festivals are like Wintersday – with PvP style as well as PvE style events.

More hairstyles for all of course. More flower/plant themed hairstyles for Sylvari.

Thank you for appreciating my work. I’ve actually worked on a couple more and I’ll post them soon.

And yes, as a Sylvari-obsessed player, I would love to have more face/pattern/glow/ears options – there is a reason why some of those options are never used – they are ugly. It’s not about not being humanoid, they are humanoid enough, just very ugly. I’ve worked on a couple faces/ears too, keeping in mind the animation our characters have with their faces (PS cut-scenes and in-game talking)

It is also quite easy to simply test what the skill does if one does not have the time to read what they say.

You shouldn’t have to go on the wiki to find out something about an event in-game. You should be given the information in game.

Yes, the skills say what they do, but you don’t really have time to read that, now, do you? Because by the time you stop and read you’re dead.

Also, where’s the PvE side of the event? still didn’t see it.
