Yea, RNG. I got all three options of envelopes and lost about 1.5 g overall. First and last day of doing that. I managed to see how the rewards items look and I definitely will not be spending money for the chance to get things I don’t like.

On the good side, oh-em-gee, the extra MF works! I have never in my life gotten so many porous bones in Orr!

If you didn’t get that the above is sarcasm… Anyway, it seems to be working in reverse. Usually for me an hour or so of farming in Orr brings anywhere from 1g to 5 g. In my first half an hour of farming there I got about 15 porous bones, a couple claws and 3 blues. I think I’ll go afk in LA waiting for this “buff” to wear off before farming more.

1. I’d have expected to receive a letter with the details of this festival. I didn’t. I found out on the map chat in LA that the festival is in Divinity’s Reach.
2. I moved to Divinity’s Reach and found the festival icon. Went there. Found a place with a crowd of people. Finally managed to find an NPC that was selling Dragon Festival Envelopes for some insane amount of gold. If you think I am going to spend that much money on an RNG thing you must be nuts. I spend money on what I can see that I get. Western world mentality vs Asian mentality when it comes to gambling.
3. As I had no information about where things are, I moved around through the crowd pressing F until I found a place with firecrackers that were to be lit. I thought “cool! That’s my Festival daily!” and I set them off. It did not register in the Daily achievement so I am still wondering where are the firecrackers that I am supposed to light for the Daily.
4. Again, after milling around pressing F I found an NPC that transported me to a PvP game. I spent exactly 25 seconds in it and said to myself “yep. PvP. I hate PvP.” and got out of there.
5. At this point I still didn’t find anything that would be PvE festival related. Maybe I missed it (see lack of information) but somehow I doubt there is something. Even if I noted somewhere the word “Toypocalipse” (and I LOVED Toypocalipse at Wintersday) I failed to find anything anywhere.

Conclusion:
- try to put out more information about a festival if you’re organizing one. Wondering around the map trying to find what is going on is not good and won’t make people spend their money on it.
- try to make the festival appealing for all your players. If I go by the people I know in game, about 35% of your player pool likes PvP, the rest prefers PvE. Even if the percentages were reversed, not catering to all the player pool makes you lose money.

Final conclusion: fairly poor event. Horrible implementation. Won’t spend money or time on it.

Quick question about transmuting items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Anyandrell.6238

Exactly. Nothing but the stats. And you don’t have to make a new character, you actually get nice rewards (and pretty much one transmutation and sometimes BL keys) from completing ANY map, so go ahead and map with your main.

Level-Up Options?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Anyandrell.6238

Anyandrell.6238

Yes, you can. You actually can get to lvl 80 going strictly in the racial starting zones and the next 15-25 level maps.
Look for the Lion’s Arch asura gate in your home city, take it and then in the hub, use the respective Asura gate for the other racial city you want to go to.
As a tip, complete maps, including of the main racial cities. It’s a good leveling thing.

Rebirth Kit
New stuff, new living world content, new perspective. I think a way to completly remodel a char would be a great idea (equipment gets account bound, personal or at least race bound story is deleted, equipped equipment will be destroyed after a warning, you loose your skills and fall back to level one, therefore you can change everything including race and profession). This could be a start to a new kind of items – without effect on the actual game (no buff or so) and as such only buyable with real money and not with gems is OK. The thought behind this is the price. There are a few things I would pay for a bit of money like 5 € or less for a make over kit or a name change. I mean items only buyable with real money could be rather cheap to bait many player while gemstoreitems must have a certain price to keep the ingame-economy.

I’m trying hard to figure out what exactly is the difference between this ^^ and just adding a new slot and creating a new character.

[SPOILERS] meta-RP - Ungrateful Tyria

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Anyandrell.6238

Anyandrell.6238

So, let me get this straight: until now, due to being protected by the Dream from Elder Dragon corruption, the Sylvari have been used by the Pact more or less as cannon fodder – being trusted that they can’t be corrupted i.e. not die and rise right away to hack back at their former allies.

Now that it has finally been confirmed that the Pale Tree is a former champion of Mordremoth everybody’s ooh-ing and aah-in. The Pale Tree is like Glint, a former Dragon Champion who went rogue. The Pale Tree has gone even further, and protects her children from Dragon influence through the Dream – making it so that Dreamer Sylvari are STILL protected from Mordremoth’s influence. Not only that, but the Pale Tree has fought and protected all Tyrian leaders from the attack in the Grove – almost with the expense of her own life. The Sylvari did not turn around and say "oh gee, I’ll kick you out of my group because you can be corrupted by Zhaitan/Primordius/Kralkatorrik etc. No, they’ve been nice and gracious and helped wherever it was needed.

Instead of thanking Sylvari for what they have been doing, and be grateful for the help, and doing all they can to restore the Pale Tree – and maybe even find HOW she does the whole Dream thing so maybe the other races can create something similar and thus be protected from the corruption of the other dragons – as I said, instead of doing that, we are witnessing a whole Meta RP-zerg turning on Sylvari.

We’re witnessing a serious meta-RP event. I wonder if the devs anticipated that or not. And are we going to have an “alliance/horde” type of factions soon? Because this is where it seems to lead, honestly.

On a lighter note. Seriously, how many of these people who rant and rave against Sylvari do NOT have a Sylvari character?

Should we kick [spoiler] from our Guilds?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Anyandrell.6238

Anyandrell.6238

What find not fair, is the fact that until now Sylvari stood by the side of the other races who were susceptible to Elder Dragons corruption, and were sent as cannon fodder in any mission / battle where there was the possibility that Zhaitan would revive fallen Pact soldiers. And now that SOME of them might be susceptible to Mordremoth’s corruption, the Pact turns around and shuns them. Yea, I am talking about all the PCs of other races.
Anyway, now it’s clear that in fact, the Nightmare that the Dreamer sensed within the dream was in fact Modremoth, and that actually the Dream is a corruption of the Nightmare – not viceversa, and everybody (not just Sylvari) should do their best to cure the Pale Tree because her consciousness /the Dream is the only thing that still protects Dreamer Sylvary. That should be the focus, saving the Pale Tree (who btw put herself in danger’s path to save all the other races’ leaders at the summit) – so that she can keep the Dream alive.
Edit: Especially because it’s obvious and to be expected that Mordremoth will want his Champion (the gone-rogue Pale Tree) – he WILL want her back.

Beyond that, and assuming no sources of self-Stability, try to light the fire shortly after the dragon tries a paw attack. That should give you enough time to do it while the dragon does its other attacks.

Braham’s shield didn’t seem to have any stability effect. I was getting interrupted all the same even with it on.

For one, Michael, thank you for replying. Finally.

As for the help, where exactly is the help? I DID read everything that the respective players have posted way before I posted here. I am not illiterate nor do I have comprehension issues, so allow me to consider anyone who keeps repeating to me what is already stated by the devs mildly insulting. How does someone copy-pasting something that I had already read and posting instead of the devs actually helping me?

As for your reply, please be so kind and tell me if this is ONLY for GW2 support, then WHERE do I get support to get my GW1 password reset in order to connect my two accounts (GW1 AND GW2 – yes, GW2, for which this thread is about, because I would like to get my rewards and benefit from them in GW2).
Because until further notice I have a product that was sold to me that I cannot access for lack of customer support. Where do I find that customer support? On one hand
your company states :

“As of December 11, 2014, Guild Wars accounts will be solely managed through the Guild Wars 2 account management page. If you need to reset your password:

And your account is linked to a Guild Wars 2 account, you can do so here. Keep in mind that the password for your Guild Wars account is the same password as your Guild Wars 2 account.
And you do not currently have a valid e-mail as your account name, or if your account is not linked, please contact our Support team for assistance."

… and on the other hand you reply here and say “this forum is for Guild Wars 2 support”.

Which of these two pieces of information is correct? where can I find customer service for the product that I had purchased from your company and for which your website does not recognize the code access key? I am sure that if you would have purchased something and you would have password reset issues, you wouldn’t be that patient and nice if you couldn’t get your password reset after 12 days of waiting, and furthermore, you’d get told “oh we don’t provide support for the things we said we provide support”.

Edit. And after all, it boils down to this: I need support for my GW2 account, actually. I don’t even need a password reset on GW1, all I need is the accounts connected so I can enjoy my GW1 rewards in GW2. IN GW2.

This looks like a means for someone to feel special, like we didn’t have enough elitism.

You want something special? Ok, why not a “reward token” system where other players actually give you a token for being a helpful player? and at a certain amount of tokens, you get a title (“Tyrian mentor” or something like that) and that way new players and not-so-new players would know that “hey, look that is someone who can help me” and it would make you feel special enough. Not by boasting and bragging “omg I got 20kAP and I can clean out Arah in 3.5 minutes look at my Legendary”

NINE days and counting for a thing as simple as a password reset on GW1. Again, 1107166. The lack of respect for your customers is staggering.

I don’t have information to share on GW1 tickets. They are being worked (slowly) and we do apologize.

Also, posting your ticket over and over isn’t going to get it worked on faster.

When I will need your opinion I’ll ask for it.

And this is a public forum. By posting on a public forum you are asking for the opinion of others. The mods of this forum do not prohibit others from giving information out if they know it. Ellieanna happened to know that Michael doesn’t have the inside scoop on GW1 tickets and let you know since it is the weekend and he was unlikely to post over it. So instead of having you wait until sometime on Monday, she posted it for you via a quote so you weren’t left hanging over the weekend.

Michael is not privy to information about Guild Wars 1 support. Therefore he can only say that they are working on it without giving any details.

Again, when I will need another player’s opinion about the status of a ticket ON A THREAD STARTED BY A MOD FOR PLAYERS TO POST UNRESOLVED TICKETS OLDER THAN THREE DAYS, I will ask for that opinion. Until then, allow me to believe that Michael is competent enough to talk for himself.

Until then, I know how to read and I read all that. It does not constitute an excuse for absolutely abysmal customer service. Recovering a password shouldn’t take TWELVE days (and counting) just because they took away GW1 from the NCSoft website but aren’t able to provide the proper CS on the GW2 website.

So, as I am really not exactly in the best mood about not having access to something I paid hundreds of dollars for over the years, try and let the mods comment on the status of tickets instead of trying to start uncalled for arguments just to feel important. It’s not your ticket, it’s not your account, it’s not your money. Stay out of it.

Anyandrell.6238

Can we please stay on the topic here and not transform this again into a “which is better old dailies or new dailies” instead of letting it be what it is, about players with disabilities not being able to do the new dailies properly?

It seems to me, that if someone is sufficiently disabled that they can’t do 3 of the new dailies, then large portions of the game (and vast amounts of AP) would be inaccessible to them anyway.

Why are dailies so important, rather than, say, jumping puzzles or PvP?

That is correct, and that is exactly what people who have posted on this thread supporting the OP are saying. We can’t play certain areas of the game because of our medical issues, so we would appreciate if the areas we CAN play wouldn’t be taken from us. I didn’t think it was that hard to understand.

Why are dailies so important? Because it was until the change one of the most accessible source of AP for disabled players. Believe me, due to our issues we deal with a lot of frustration in every day real life (I know it’s hard to understand for someone who doesn’t have these issues), and we’d love to be able to not have to deal with frustration in a game that gives us just that little happiness we lack so much sometimes.

I know, old guys have problems when it comes to getting out of their routine.
So try to adapt to the lack of “No KS!!! @#$kitten!” and “OM#$%F I was here first” that plagues so many of the “classic” MMOs. That is essentially what takes most of the conflict and adversity that normally stand in the way of cooperation in classic MMOs. In GW2 usually you WANT other people to come and hit the boss you found (well mumble mumble new dailies events). Just look around you, explore and try to actually talk to people. Not friendly? Have you done the wintersday dailies? Did you even notice how many times people shout in map “who wants to snowball fight” vs how many people actually help each other do the achievement with no words said except a “ty” and a smile in the end?
I’m not saying GW2 community is all angels and rainbows, we got our sour apples too, but it’s way better than any other MMORPG.
P.S. Trust me, when you visit a low level area on your “uber” lvl 80, you DO feel it. Even if the lvl 80 is not that “uber”

I only got an i7-3770k (multicore, yes, x 8 ) with an AMD Radeon 7900 series and I have absolutely no problems with lag or fps drop and I always play with highest settings possible. Try Ibuypower. They have really good gaming computers.

Ibuypower does NOT have good gaming computers.

They overcharge badly.
Use subpar and barely capable hardware to run the system.
Their prebuilt system are all totally unbalanced with either overpowered motherboards,CPUs, GPUs or RAM in relation to the rest of the system.

Custom build, or ask on an ACTUAL hardware forum like Toms Hardware, which I frequent often.

Feel free to PM me if you need help selecting a balanced gaming system.

I would. If you would have even noticed that what I had posted that I have as a rig is NOT one of their pre-built systems (I dare you to find any of their pre-built PCs that would be 8-core). You didn’t, so, allow me to kind of not give much value to the advice.

Also, their machines can be purchased through other sources, that bring the price drastically – I paid for mine about 65% of the price on the website.

Some of us posting here have worked on computers when they (the computers) were as big as a room and used punch cards. Think on that a little.

samsung pro 850, 256gb, rapid mode on.
chieftec nitro 850w.

Now please explain me why i experience 30fps in zerks, and why i have fps drops for no reason too while you dont?

No idea. You might want to run a DxDiag and ask a computer specialist. I do run RAID and overclock too, if that makes any difference. Try and go on ibuypower website sometime; I’d like to see many people dismissing their Paladin. My PC (also a Paladin) was purchased two years ago so it’s rather old but still doing pretty good.

What I would like to add is that I did notice an overall (OVERALL) fps lowering (like 40-50 from 80-90) sometimes with no explanation of being crowded/zerged/etc, and I tried to figure it out and found out it’s just due to … internet speed on certain routes. If you ping then do a tracert you will notice that when you connect through certain “nodes” the speed is better than through other nodes.

Having a disability and the new dailies

See, the thing is, I wasn’t “forced” into anything. They were coming to completion during my normal gameplay, because, believe me, before, in 2-3 hours of normal PVE gameplay you WOULD complete the dailies before knowing it. It was just a pop=up and you’d go “ah, I did the daily!”

The old dailies have become the log-in rewards. Those are even less forced. Because wile a PvEer could frequently (far from always) complete their dailies during just playing, a PvPer couldn’t really.
The new log-in rewards have no impact on your gameplay. You can play whatever you want.

The new dailies – maybe a bad misnomer in that regard – are an entirely different system to the old ones. They add a bonus reward to doing something you’re not already doing (ideally). This is very unlike the old dailies, and very unlike the log-in rewards (which OTOH do something similar to each other).

Thank you for explaining to me what are the new dailies and how they function. I also feel obliged at this point to inform you that my disability is strictly physical, not mental.

Anyway, I think you are on the wrong thread. This is the thread about people with disabilities who have issues completing the new dailies. Because of their disabilities. Physical disabilities. Not the thread discussing how awesome the new dailies are compared to the old ones.

P.S. If you didn’t notice, it was already mentioned that the log-in rewards do not give you AP.

It is NOW that I am forced into going out of my way, on specific maps, in WvW, in Pvp, hopping from WP to WP in the hope that will get to the event in the few seconds that it takes the crowd of people to down a champ. And it leaves me very little to play the game doing what I initially started to do. To give you an example: I am working on ascended armor, that means I need silk or gold to buy it. That means farming silverwastes or Orr, or doing dungeons, NOT hopping around in Dredgehaunt Cliffs or Gendarran Fields.

Having a disability and the new dailies

I’ve been posting about the same thing for a while now (same boat, neuropathy from chemo + nerve damage from slipped vertebrae in my neck). There are days/hours when I absolutely cannot control my fingers properly, and even if I do decently with the hit 1-3-2 kill mob, the PvP and WvW and sometimes even events in a map swarmed by lvl 80s is very hard to do. Yes, I know we get daily login rewards but those do not give AP.
I had no problems doing dailies before. Now I waste 1-2 hours sometimes going out of my way to do them and I only can play the game doing what I like for maybe another hour, instead of enjoying the game the whole time I play it.

Does anyone have the i7-4790k?

I only got an i7-3770k (multicore, yes, x 8 ) with an AMD Radeon 7900 series and I have absolutely no problems with lag or fps drop and I always play with highest settings possible. Try Ibuypower. They have really good gaming computers.

The NPE did miss the mark, yes. But so did your friend.

If you don’t like the game, don’t play it.

I honestly can’t wrap my mind around the stupidity of this kind of post.

Ok, player doesn’t like it doesn’t play it.
Other player doesn’t like it doesn’t play it.
A thousand players don’t like it don’t play it.
Less income for Arenanet.
Less stuff coming.
More players quit (don’t like it don’t play it).
Even less money for Arenanet.
Servers slowly dying.
More players quit (don’t like it don’t play it).
End of GW2.

Seriously?

A Balance Between PvP & PvE Updates

PvP. One player fights another player.
I fail to see what is to update to a PvP. Specifically.
Unless it were a totally new set of skills, weapons, etc. That would throw the PvE community in a fit.
