You are all wrong. The OP is like “I lost all my characters when I got hacked and they didn’t restore them for me, so now I get no presents. So I want them to change the present to account so I can get a present. and all of you other players with multiple characters, well, too bad, will get only one present per account”.
I absolutely love the effect, it looks absolutely fantastic on my “black widow”-themed reaper. It’s worth every single gem.
There’s a big BUT.
There’s still lots to work on the mechanism of it. As it is it’s very cumbersome.
1. You need to go into the inventory to activate it.
2. It takes inventory space, doh
3. As much as I agree on it being de-activated when you’re attacked, stands to reason, once you’re done fighting you can’t really activate it until it decides it wants to get activated by itself
4. If you fight too long it gets de-activated completely (even gone from the quick bar) and you need to go back to the inventory and activate it.
I don’t know, can’t we get an equipment slot for this type of effects? They’re obviously the equivalent of “mounts” GW2 has, and even if they don’t really give any kind of speed boost or anything and are just cook effects, it is obviously that as we got a few we will get more in the future.
Can’t the devs work a little bit on this one to make it less clunky?
Otherwise, again, I love it.
Braham needs to be let go. Not killed. He’s obviously not worth recruiting for the new guild just for the sake of him being Eir’s son. He’s unstable mentally, unreliable, doesn’t obey orders, he just needs to be left behind to the fate he chooses. I’d like to see him go and some other Norn to join the group. I don’t know, didn’t Braham have a sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, something?
As for them acting like teenagers, well, some of them ARE teenagers or very early 20s.
Taimi is the most rounded up of all of them. And Rox is ok. But yes, the love story between Marjorie and Kasmeer is too much in your face and just repeats Caithe/Faolain. Ok, we got it, Arena Net is all for lesbianism, now can we focus on the story? Otherwise, if you really want to beat that dead horse to oblivion, just find a NPC for the player character to have a romantic interest in and let us choose our favorite type of relationship, lol
We have glittering backpack and glittering weapon skins, why don’t we have a glittering glider yet? I have a character that is all in the glittering theme and I have to use the crystalline dragon as there is no glittering glider skin

Aurene looks like a frog
It’s not about choosing or switching stats, it’s about crafting. Sounds rather dumb to craft an ascended with another stats and switch it in the MF when I can just buy the recipe at the master crafter place – which I ended up doing. I don’t think it would be that hard to allow people who have purchased HoT to be able to choose Yassith (or any other HoT spec) in a fractal drop recipe, the same way they can choose it for purchase from the master crafter – probably people who didn’t purchase HoT don’t see that option either. I’m sure it’s just an oversight. I don’t see why the discussion should be moved to a thread on cost-effective methods of choosing stats as my post has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that.
I got two ascended scepter recipes from fractals. But when I went to choose, there was no Yassith choice. All the other ones are there but Yassith isn’t. I have a scepter/dagger reaper that has full Viper exotic and was planning on getting her in full Yassith ascended. When buying the ascended scepter recipe from the master artificer, Yassith Wand is an option. Not so in the ascended scepter recipe drop from fractals
I hope this is just an omission that can be fixed.
You’d think so long after release these bugs would be fixed. Tried 4 times tonight with a guildie, same thing, half the time the updrafts don’t work, and every single time, Mordy at the end becomes permanently invulnerable.
Hi, Wolfie, I talked to Chip in game, so I’m posting here so you can find me, I’d like to join too.
Hey. Tried to find you guys in game but none of the names posting here is online. Give me a shout, I’m a Stalwart (means I played from the very beginning) and would love to join and help you grow. Except for Raids I know pretty much all that is to know about the game.
Could we get Luminescent Dye? You know, the way we have the Luminescent Carapace armor? But in Dyes?
So yesterday I wanted to help a friend finish the “Crack in the Ice” story line. So I went and finished the heart to get a firestone – I already had plenty of suet and egg shells – then we both went and gotten the elixir – she actually said she could see me getting it – but when the time came and I crossed into Bitter Cold it was like I had no elixir. I checked my bag, the firestone was gone, I had 3 less egg shells and bottles of suet, but no elixir effect. She had to go in alone. Then when we went to finish the quest, after we did the whole long Braham in the cave thing, her game crashed right after defeating the beast with no credit given. So we went and did the whole thing again. And she crashed again. We are going to try it again today, hoping there will be no more crashing. Really frustrating.
I’d love that. I usually like to match my ranger’s pet with her mini and I have already gotten matching minis for most of her pets. I think that a colocal “combo” would be awesome.
I have a question though. The mini-Gwynefyrdd used to drop from trick or treat bags – tbh I was absolutely flabbergasted when I got one as I had already read that the drop rate was insanely low. But, does this year have any mini drop from the trick or treat bags? Every year had some mini drop – the devil dog, Zuzu, etc. I haven’t had any this year and didn’t hear anyone getting a mini from the bags. So my question is, does ANY mini drop from the bags?
Yea it’s not working for me.
1. The banner issue. Would it be possible to make the banners “pickable” only by the people who cast them? I am kind of getting tired of being in the heat of the action – like DS for example – and at one point I realize that I am not hitting because while pressing F to pick up loot I also picked up a banner of strength.
2. Could we please get a “glittering” skin for the glider? We have weapons, we have backpack, my little delicate glittering white Sylvari necro would be extremely grateful to complete her looks.
For goodness sakes, HP in HoT give TEN points, and you want them to be as easy as the ones in Tyria?!?
It doesn’t get added to anything.
Both Silverwastes and HoT, of all my lvl 80s, the best are faring Reapers – got one power Reaper with zerker gear and one “million minions” condi reaper. They almost never die – unless they get ganked by husks with immobilize followed by snipers or floppers.
Second is a Ranger with zerker gear that also almost never dies.
Didn’t get my guardian or warrior to HoT yet, but all the other ones do have some issues surviving HoT. Not so much Silverwastes but HoT (especially before getting their elite).
That is the exact reason why I didn’t buy it from the gem store. And now I got it anyway.
Having to do adventures for mastery points. The fact that due to a certain disability I’m not that good at jumping fast really isn’t that important. I don’t like the adventures. As was previously said, should be more than one way to get the mastery points.
And that is valid for Tyria too.
IMO HoT doesn’t really need to be nerfed – with the exception of the frogs (both shadowleapers and floppers) and the NUMBER of mobs. Don’t get me wrong, strategy is awesome, and my condi reaper almost never dies, but it can be a PIA whenever the breachers get to the any of the points in AB and she’s attacked simultaneously by two Veteran Shadowleapers, one or two Cavaliers and 4-5 Mounts. She might die 1 out of 10 times, but even so, it’s quite a fight.
So with these exceptions, HoT doesn’t really need to be nerfed.
BUT there are a few mechanics that NEED to change. The most important one being the conflict that appears from the existence on the same map of HP trains and meta. Because if there is an HP train, you can’t practically do meta. The map is full due to the HP train, but you don’t have enough people to do the meta and it scales when in fact very few people are doing the meta. The solution proposed above with making choice maps for either HP or meta is one idea, or make it so when meta starts the regular HPs are not valid anymore but there’s a way to get HPs from the meta itself.
The second MAJOR thing that needs to be change is the drop quality. Not the drop rate, that is ok. But the drop quality is abysmal. The only reason I do play HoT is because metas are fun. Not for the drops. I get better drops in SW for example in less than half the time required to do a meta in HpT. The drop rate is pretty much the same. And if this would be grudgingly acceptable in Verdant Brink, once you go deeper in HoT it’s more and more abysmal. With the peak being DS meta. I did it dozens of times, and at one point I actually started writing down the drops. The Dragon chest itself only gave me something of interest (leyline gear box) when I did it the first time. The rest were simple green gears and rarely (maybe one out of three) a rare or max two rares. This is ridiculous.
If you want us to populate the HoT maps, and aren’t willing to nerf or change mechanics or anything, make the meta drops worth the effort. Not even the number of chests for a successfull AB meta can’t stand up to expectation because of QUALITY. Since I’ve been playing HoT, I’ve got two exotics. TWO. In so many months. And I play at least 20 hours a week at least – maybe not every single day, but at least every other day and definitely most of the week-end. Mostly in HoT until I get so disgusted with the drops that I move to SW. It gets boring after a while (hence not playing every day). And if I wasn’t working on a legendary, I’d play way less.
A map can get boring not just because it’s too easy. But also because the rewards aren’t worth the effort.
Westwatch pre chain is bugged. Spelunkk and his buddies are stuck repeating same lines over and over and will not advance. Can’t continue chain and activate pylons.
Considering the eternal rivalry…
WoW’s movie coming out in June 2016.
When’s GW 2’s scheduled for? wink
How would the poster for such a movie look like in your vision?
Tbh I don’t find HoT bad at all. I mean, yes, sometimes you got to try and hop maps a little til you find people if what you’re looking for means you need a group. Otherwise, once I figured out what HoT needs, I got my chars ready and I’m having loads of fun – well except Tangled Depths, I hate that map.
My issue with HoT is different. The drops. The drops are abysmal.
After I did the Dragon Stand meta for the first time, I probably did it since at least 50 times. I have yet to get something else from the dragon’s chest besides 5 machete and 3 green gear. I get way better drops in SW. WAY better.
So I practically do both DS and AB metas just for QUANTITY of drops, not for quality – I happen to work on a leg so need loads of mithril, and also getting another one of my chars garbed in ascended so need mats for that too.
Otherwise, I play HoT for fun, not for drops. THAT is the major area that needs worked.
My mesmer for the first time in HoT map trying to get HP to get her elite:
“I AM MIGHTY!!!”
2 seconds later….
Level doesn’t affect what’s in the containers that say they are affected by magic-find. So there is no point sending those to a lower level character.
The ones that don’t say they are affected by magic find are the same as before. You get loot leveled to those characters.
I beg to differ, that is exactly the point. The LEVEL of items differs and thus the salvaged mats. For the ones of us working on making ascended gear, it’s the only way to get linen, cotton, wool, leather etc.
To answer the OP: no, didn’t chage. Regular bags – low level, rare gear bags lvl 80 ( for ectos)
That’s kind of the point… The entirety of SAB is a tribute to the days of 8bit graphics video games, most of which involved platforming like Mario Brothers or Sonic the Hedgehog, or keys, treasure chests, secret rooms and bosses like The Legend of Zelda.
I thought even gen Y and millenials had an appreciation for the origens of video games. Apparently not all of them.
Actually I’m a baby boomer, so I lived those times. Things in the past are better left where they belong – in the past. I never appreciated all those memes of “if you know what a cassette player is share this”. If I want to go on the nostalgia path (which I don’t) there’s always archive.org. The first Prince of Persia or Monkey Island might have their charm but for maybe 5 minutes after which I’m “ok enough of this kitten”.
Probably it’s exactly the opposite of what you stated and actually the millennials and generation Y are the ones who appreciate it.
Anyway, kudos to the people who like this. Myself, if I would have wanted to play Minecraft, I would play Minecraft, not GW2. The whole thing looks worse than Runescape did when it started. I tried. I really really tried. I hate that kind of graphics. And the rewards are horribly ugly too.
Going back to HoT.
Thank you, there were people tho told me in game. My point is that the info should be on the page.
I missed the previous editions of SAB and heard good stuff about it. So when I saw it’s back I went to read about it and it looks awesome. The info page on the Game website gives a lot of exciting info about it.
Except on where the heck it is and how to get to it to play it.
Tbh, I think this is a non-issue. Because:
1. they do go in the MF
2. As much as they seem useless to us, they do sell on TP. I never get encumbered even if I’m in a meta, just open my inv, salvage then at the first chance of 20-30 seconds of calm I sell the majors on TP. They DO sell within a few hours.
Tbh I am more bothered by the endless junk like dandelions and grubby packages.
It would be nice to have something like that (you know, like the message of the day in Guild) for one-liners. That way, you don’t have to go off the game, log in whatever website or forum the guild has, to just leave a question for members who might not be on when you are on and stuff like that. It could even be made as a Guild Hall upgrade – with care not to make it just for high level guilds but more like the guild bank first tier.
I salvage the mats (see the lower level char to open bags) and make ascended mats and sell them. Usually two rounds of VW brings at least 20g. Usually I would get also an exotic or two but nothing too big. Also, chest train.
As someone said above, you confuse grinding with farming. “Grinding” essentially means that you need to keep killing mobs/mine/cast a skill in a mind numbing repetition in order to advance a level or a skill. Farming is killing mobs, doing quests, etc, in order to obtain drops that are necessary to accomplish something (either a good item, or the drop might be the object).
Tbh I think on some maps white, black and green would be hard to see.
Profane looks pretty pant-ish – well it looks more like stocking with a garter belt to be more precise. But yes, pants for light armor females would be great – like the Ascalonian performer pants for males.
And now that we are on this subject, could we get some female light armor footwear that isn’t boots and doesn’t look like clogs? Because, honestly, most of the light armor footwear clashes with the rest horribly. You get your female character all nice and gauzy and princessly with glittering wings… and wearing boots or clogs.
I’ll add mine too
You know what? I don’t bother with calculations and all that stuff. I just made two reapers – one zerker power reaper and one condi reaper. Each has an Ascended staff, zerker and condi, respectively. I use them in different areas of the map. And I can definitely can see the advantage of condi Ascended weapon on a condi build vs zerker Ascended weapon on zerker build on certain mobs.
Try it. You might be surprised.
As Vayne said. The perks from Ascended and Legendaries are minimal. The game is very casual, you can practically play once a week for a couple hours and you won’t be losing anything. Of course special items need grinding. Too many people in this day and time are used to the McD menu and getting everything on a silver platter just because they showed up for something.
Unfortunately, as I said in OP, WvW is no longer something I enjoy.
It’s not laziness. It’s boring. As I said, one, two, even three characters, it’s ok. But when you get to doing for the FIFTH time the same exact thing, and have two more to go, it really gets to the “forget this, I’ll just get back on my main”.
I know that these were available in the game at one point – might still be in WvW? No idea as I haven’t played WvW in a long time.
BUT. If one has more than one level 80 character, and their main is rather maxed in skill points (of course after HoT came out it’s HP not SP anymore), would it be possible that if they get in HoT and happen to do one of the HP helping others, mostly, to get some type of scroll that can be used for other characters? I, for example, have 7 level 80’s. Going around the maps to gather HP for ALL of them to get their Elites gets rather old and boring. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to do that with one, two, maybe even three characters, but after that it gets really old and annoying.
Because, for example, I am with my main (reaper) in HoT. She’s fully maxed on HP. So there would be no reason to go do HP in HoT with her anymore. But she’s there, and if someone starts a HP point, of course I’ll jump in and help. But it would be nice to get something out of it, instead of having to go over the same map over and over and do the same thing over and over for 7 different characters then practically stop because there’s no more use to do it on that character. Jump on another one, get again from the start, rinse and repeat.
To the developer who removed the 5 keys bundle so now we have to click 60 times to buy 30 keys instead of clicking 12 times: I was going to wish you something nasty, but I’m sure karma will take care of it.
You must be in the same family with the one who thinks that putting TP, bank and WP at 3 miles distance of each other is funny.
My very upset wrist/index joints.
Unfortunately the wiki doesn’t have the HoT metas. And I honestly find whatever HoT information on it quite insufficient.
Yes, Meta Events. The HoT is still fairly new, for older players who got their HoT recently or for new players. It would be helpful to have a few guides. You know like “Auric Basin meta: Pre explanations; Main event explanation like: East octovine, grab bombs, glide and drop bombs on the octovine til slime shields are removed, then burn; wait to kill until all corners can kill at once”
After so many years of playing many, many games (and even being a “professional” beta tester for quite a few) I’m always returning to GW2 (as I did to GW1 before GW2 came out).
Why? Because, even with the frustrations that are inherent – as no game developer will ever be able to satisfy the demands of all types of players – it is still the less frustrating game of all.
Most game developers (and absolutely ALL Asian ones) go by the Asian gamer mentality – that you have to work hard – REAL hard – to get something that will help you advance in game, or that you have to pay RL money for that. While in GW2, even with the grind necessary to obtain ascended/legendary, or gems to buy various cosmetic changes in the TP – the truth is that you don’t NEED them to advance in game. It’s all a “oh I would like to get that for my toon because it would look awesome” but by no means not having that item will influence your capacity to play and enjoy the game.

And this comes from someone who had innumerable “banned from forums for x days” for criticizing too loud lol.
If for some crazy reason a PvP element became necessary to advance the meta in a particular PvE map, I would make sure to NEVER go to that map.
This. So much this.
