You do not need any point in blood magic, the life steal is not needed at all imo, it really all comes down to your positioning and movement and the support of your guild. And I dont think well mastery is needed, running in an organized guild at least, I mean you need to rotate necro wells/plagues (yes plague is a must in wvw) so you dont waste all your CDs on your 1st push etc. The well cooldowns are fine as they are without the trait.

And spectral armor is a lot better than spectral walk imo, protection is amazing along with the 8% life force per sec. I run 30 in soul reaping for the DS cdr and stability so that covers me for the survivability part (last gasp) and much, much needed stability for certain situations.

Well of corruption is a must, tho I think for something more organized like gvg I think well of suffering/stunbreaker need to be swapped out for well of darkness cuz blind is amazing.

I got 0/20/20/0/30 with about 1650 toughness, 2k+ power, 40% crit chance, 60% crit dmg. I dont see why its needed to give up damage for so much toughness if you are ranged, especially a necro. Also backed up by a melee train you should easily tank the enemy zerg with plague.

Basically I think blood magic is pretty much useless compared to the awesome damage and tankyness increase from soul reaping – stability+last gasp+ds cdr.

Target the weak can be good (can lose its effect because of the insanse condi removal meta) but still I value stability way more cuz 1 knock back/stun when going through a chokepoint/knocked off a wall or whatever, and guess what, you are useless. Neither can you rely on the guardians for stability especially if you are ranged stability on demand is a must in my book.

Got loads of gold and I never do anything for the only reason to get gold if you get me, I do living story for the achievs, tPvP, wvw etc yet I always have around 300g+ sitting in my bank, which nowadays isnt a lot, but im fine with that. ( sPvP should allow you to earn gold e.g. from winning tournies tho.)
If id spend my time doing braindead scrub CoF p1 runs Id have probably 10x that gold, but I choose not to because i cant stand it. I have the option to do that if needed tho. Not complaining.

If its taking you 30 minutes to do 1 cof run you are SERIOUSLY doing something wrong, average run is about 10 mins max, get a zerker group and do it in 6 mins or less.

240g is about the gold I make in a month from wvw and thats just a bonus for me, not there for gold ^^

I run ~25k hp with wvw/food bonuses.
56% crit chance with fury
50% crit dmg
~2k power with food
~3k armor

I run 20 in strength and with empower and destruction of the empowered, with shout healing/soldier runes kind of a weird build but meh I do big numbers, have awesome group support with shouts and the nice sweetpoint of 3k armor and 25k hp so i basically never die, cant complain. Just experimenting atm.

Shout healing is still extremely good, have fun blasting those waterfields in combat efficiently and you can never have too much sustain, and you wont sacrifice much if you pick up shout healing its just too good, 5 warriors using 2 shouts can heal overall for like ~70k.

They’ve always been 1g+.
If you have trouble going from A to B equip signet of locust and before engaging swap it back to whatever you were using. In battle you shouldnt have a problem with the buffs flying around and static field + blast finisher spam before a fight.

Use your runes for something more useful imo.

I used to run corrupt boon (pre nerf) + epidemic and signet of spite/well of corruption and it does make an impact with the condi bomb, but still, it can be fairly quickly cleansed , epidemic/spite can be evaded and also signet of spite has a 60s cd.
Those condi bombs can be useful with more necros in organized guild runs and GvGs I imagine, but running in a zerg I still suggest power.

Condition build isnt that good for wvw because people run alot of condi cleansing skills/soldier runes and shout builds.
Basically condition damage is easily negated by cleansing and very easily outhealed.
Power necromancers burst damage is a lot harder to deal with while you still apply the most useful of the conditions like chill/blind etc and you dont need condi gear for them

Go power if you are running with zerg/guild.

If you are roaming with a fairly small group or solo I suggest condi.

Achievements are intended to be eared. Not handed out. 90% of the game is easy mode in PvE when it comes to content, don’t do the same for WvW. Allot of people enjoy things the way they are, the current system gives goals and activities for long-time WvW focused players. If players are dedicated, and involved in the WvW community, allot of the rewards come quite easily.

Do you actually have any idea what you are talking about ? Do you have any experience in wvw ?
All of those achievements are completely ridiculous.
I am a long time wvw focused player and I have no more than 5% on all of the achievs, besides kills acheivement which is reasonable I guess.

This is my opinion nothing else from a vet wvw player.
Running with zergs dont go for condition damage, people have way too much condi removal to make use of the condition gear. Go with power gear (mix of soldier/knights/cavalier), you do insane damage while you still apply the most useful conditions imo, which are chill/blind/cripple etc.
Use staff and axe/warhorn. 0/20/20/0/30 traits with focused rituals, chilling darkness, staff traits, near to death, foot in the grave.
Use well of corruption+suffering and well of darkness/spectral wall/spectral walk depending on the situation and preference and Plague.
Ive run different condi builds and power builds in zerging/gvgs for months and months and this build is pretty much the most optimal, a few trait points or gear stats can be changed for preference. This build is pretty offensive so if you are new to wvw I suggest you use a few more soldier pieces.

There are no benefits of a mainhand dagger or scepter in proper wvw and guild groups roaming, you want decent roaming/small scale build go into the spvp section. Seriously, Id love to run up to your guild with a bunch of MH dagger necros, would be brilliant.
Running an organized guild group of about 25-30 players is not zerging.
95% of the fights we as a guild group have (in a rank 7 server) are other ~30 man guild groups and up to 60+ man blobs, good luck with your dagger or scepter (lol..)
Talk about losing credibility, well done.

It really does seem you have never been to wvw, have mixed wvw with spvp or are in a T9 server where the fights are mostly 3v3, but please keep us up to date with How not to play a necromancer in WvW.

And when I asked you to explain why is a mh dagger and scepter useful in WVW you ignored it, good job bro. Im done.

Slow your roll there champ, I clearly said its useful under 20 in small group play. Its great in roaming but you dont think that roaming is WvW so really no point in arguing about it.

Why are zergers so defensive when someone mentions small group fights Ill never know.

You earn the rank with your char and get benefits from it. Why the hell should a twink get all the stuff you earnd with other chars? If so why not get all classes to lvl 80 when you reach with 1 class lvl80

You dont make sense, might as well make the sPvP rank character bound, cuz why be e.g. rank 50 when u log on ur necro while uve played 99% warrior ?
WvW rank should be no different, ESPECIALLY if you get wvw bonuses which require a kitten load of points tbh, casual players who play on 5-6 chars in wvw will have like 20 points on each char and its really pointless…

WvW level should be account wide no question about it, there is no good reason for it being character bound, there really isnt. It is so hard to make alts already anyway, ascended items taking months to get, fotm ranks char bound also etc.

As mainly a wvw player I already have 2 characters I use for wvw and tbh I want to make another one, but this awful system stops me from doing that tbh, ill be losing out on nice bonuses etc. Horrible idea.

Yep exactly, I spend most of my time on GW2 in WvW and only have 81 achievement points from it, when I could just max 2 crafts and get the same amount of points in 30 minutes. The 80 points from wvw that I have got should really be 500+ points.

When I mentioned dagger I clearly meant mainhand thought that was obvious since I was comparing it to axe and scepter, offhand dagger is decent.
I really dont get what you are trying to say about scepter, decent damage ?? AoE presence ?? It does not have place in zergs simple as that.

Dagger in wvw is useless, im not talking about roaming, that is NOT wvw, I mean running with a 20+ group, its a melee single target weapon – definition of useless. Scepter again single target and only good for the cripple but axe is 100x better for the retal and boon stripping.
Bet you have never played wvw or necro for that matter tbh. I find it hard to post on the forums because of trolls like you, I just know they exist and jump out talking out of their kitten

For wvw go for knights/zerker armor and ruby orbs with soldier/knights trinkets and 0/20/20/0/30 or 10/20/10/0/30
Dont ever scrap staff, dagger is absolutely useless in wvw and so is scepter. S + A/W is the way to go. Staff for those condis, pressure and damage, axe for the perma retal etc.
That build leaves me with ~2.1k power, 2.6k armor, 40% crit chance and 57% crit damage, 21k hp without food or buffs.
Utilities are well of corruption, well of suffering and spectral walk for the swiftness + life force + stun breaker, can be switched for well of darkness or spectral wall depending on the situation. And plague.
Try and not build into a bunker necro, you become useless and you are not supposed to get damaged anyway as ranged. If you need to go through a chokepoint full of 54966 enemies just double roll/DS for stability or in some cases, plague and you got stun breaker + life force generator to help you as well. Rest of the time just stay to the sides spread out and support the melee train, simple really.

For condition build utilities Id pick epidemic, well of corruption, signet of spite, spectral walk/wall. Something from them.
Blood is power is absolutely useless in zerg fights.
Then again IMO condition damage necro is useless in zergs, because conditions will not stick and the best conditions are the ones that dont do damage anyway like chill/blind/cripple etc and a power necro can offer all that while doing impressive damage.

Thanks for the response, as my guild is really efficient in wvw already, we decided for some GvG action, but rushed it and went in with the wrong expectations, wrong builds/food and wrong team composition and so I appreciate any help.

I am really interested to know what 20 man team comp did u guys find most efficient?

Agreed, this is how it should be, similar to sPvP ranks, there are no good reasons why the ranks are account bound, it is plain stupid and discourages people to make alts even more.
Fotm ranks, dyes, ascended items soulbound and takes a lot of time to get another set for an alt, same with legendaries etc etc, some account bound stuff are not that bad, what I do not get is wvw ranks. Especially why cant we reset the wvw abilities ? what harm could it possibly do ?

gw2gvg.com proves how many guilds are interested in something like this.

Did a few GvG yesterday and they were a pain to do because of the queues really, 1 guy disconnects and he is in queue for an hour.

A necro can provide cc/support + massive damage, all comes down to your positioning and your teams support with cleansing/healing etc. Thats why I run knights/zerker with ruby orbs and soldier/knights trinkets atm, never have trouble surviving in GvG or blob fights. As a necro I say PVT is an overkill, you have DS and depending on the traits enough to survive (I run 30 in soulreaping for stability, DS cdr and spectral armor) and deal really good damage along with providing support to my group with wells/cc/pressure etc.

I think there is a line/limit for every class, as how much toughness/hp/defensive skills you need, this might sound a bit harsh, but people who run ranged necro with bunker stats might just be trying to compensate their lack of skill and experience in wvw with big hp pools and toughness.

About the destroyer warriors… Id recomend to you the channels of other RG warriors who were specialist destroyers, like Zumos or Empyre. I can give some hints myself i guess…
The main thing to have as a destroyer is Melandru etc combo, so you can drop the horn (and the whole cond game) and focus on pain dealing. Feels unstopable with decent stab. Having a leap is recomended, as always.
Recomended weapons? Hammer, GS, Axe, axe offhand, mace offhand (no target limit on mace 5, its a pulse!!!). There is freedom here finally but choose wisely.
Forget shouts, horn, boons, and crap… grab as many dps tech as u can.. the obvious targets— Empowered, both GM 15%, Destruction of the emp, deep strike. Lots of freedom but remember to be somewhat tanky or ull melt. Dead dps dont dps.
A full signet build would prolly be the most optimized thing for dmg nowadays. Stun break, adrenaline on demand, unblockable bursts… its a faceroll build.

What gear would the dps role warrs use ? Knights/cavalier or still pvt or smth else ?
also whats both GM 15%, not too familiar with the warr acronyms yet

Played many games – FPS, LoL, all the big MMORPG’s and never had a guild/community like this, I thought the guilds I was in Aion, Warhammer were good, but FG is by far the best guild I’ve been a part of in ~6 years of gaming.
I started off in Guild Wars 2 as mostly a PvE/fractal player, constantly taking breaks to play other games because I didn’t find the end-game of GW2 appealing tbh.
When I joined FG in january it all changed and I can’t keep myself away from the game, especially the amazing WvW raids which I enjoy the most

I find 2 weeks updates annoying, not exciting or anything. Content updates with achievements every month would be fine, because I do spvp/wvw and this ocd/completionist in me NEEDS to finish all these achievements because I know for a fact I can’t do them later next month for example. It’s annoying for me.
I’m not bothered about other achievs which are permanent like spvp or explorer achievs and I’ll do them whenever I feel like it, but this just forces me to do living story achievs, especially now with the reward system for achievement points. If I would ever need to take a break for 3-4 months I would not come back to the game knowing I can’t have those specific skins/items/achiev points which were only available for a certain time. But that’s just me.

I also agree it’s not fair for new players, but there’s nothing you can do about it tbh so, get over it, but the 14 day updates ? waaaay too often, once per month of achievement/content updates along with balance updates would be just great, I don’t understand why on earth it has to be 14 days, probably to keep the carebear community who are bored with the game entertained with the living story.

Large fights go power for sure, 0/20/20/0/30 for example with offensive gear, soldiers gear is a complete waste of stats for ranged, with good positioning and movement you should never have a problem surviving.
For roaming I like condi, but power is fine as well.

If you go condi for GvG/zergs your condis wont stick with the constant shout cleansing/fields etc and the most useful condis imo are chill/blind/cripple/immob/poison(for the secondary effect), none which do damage and power necro can offer that as well, so condi dmg is imo wasted in large fights. Burst damage is 100x better in wvw.

Nope, do not want Guild Tags. One of the parts that initially drew me to WvWvW is that as a non-guild member, I could easily identify the action and get there by looking at the tag.

It segregates and alienates PUGs from Guilds too much. I for one hope that they do not have guild tags and keep the system intact as it is. But that is my opinion.

A lot of the top guilds already run without a tag because they do NOT want pugs to follow them, people just target the raid leader.
Guild tags would be great so we wont have to follow the target, but the tag.
There will always be pug zergs with a commander leading them, go follow them, you should be alienated from an organized guild group if you are a pug, imo.
When the guild wants pugs with them, they turn on the tag.

For ZvZ/GvG you want 0/20/20/0/30, blood magic traits are not really needed, at all, DS should keep you healthy along with your guild support. I run DS cooldown reduction trait and stability and use spectral walk + built in spectral armor makes it quite easy to survive and the damage is really great.
Gear is a mix of berserker/knights with ruby orbs and a few soldier trinkets.

Are you joking ? That is not an armor reward system. Have you seen the skins ? I mean what the kitten.
He is talking aboutĀ“proper rewards and actual skins, not exotic armor with absolutely horrible skins just to make people buy transmutation stones to change the skins.

WvW should have way better rewards, atm badges are worthless, in 4 months Ive got ~15k badges, spent 5k of them gearing up my alts etc along with spending gems on stones lol, but they are pretty useless still. Same with karma and rank chests.
For example why cant someone who has lets say 50k kills, which is a lot lets be honest, get a unique weapon skin/armor set to show off.

Healing and support gives you nothing. So most are going to DPS. Armor doesn’t mean much in wvw in all reality, just how well can you escape and block damage.

lol ? Healing and support is EVERYTHING in a successful guild group roaming in wvw.
Armor is incredibly important as well, only ranged classes spec into zerker more often, but still usually run knight/cavalier…

Anyway…I really dont think trinity exists here, maybe just a bit…, most healing comes from blasting water fields, warrior shouts, ele, guardian skills etc it is a team effort. DPS ? the best burst is offered by the melee train who are usually built very tanky, ranged support with their consistent pressure and raw damage as well. Every single class has decent amount of CC, supportive skills, damage etc etc.

Players also afk (they r actually there just dont move sometimes, 2 mins being way too short lol) in towers/keeps as scouts, should they get kicked as well ?

Torment is not OP, necro aoe torment is only useful because of the 2s immobilize. Coniditon damage gear shouldnt be used in wvw anyway, the only useful conditions are cripple/chill/blind etc, none that do damage anyway and e.g. a power necro can offer all of that.
Saying you can kite plague is dumb, maybe in a 1v1 or smallscale, but in a GvG or vs zerg I always have 5 people blinded/crippled/chilled/bleeding/poisoned and receiving ~600 damage every second + my retaliation doing work, not OP but extremely useful.
Well of darkness is the same, even if the enemy melee stays there for 2 seconds it already made a difference, gotta drop it at the right time.

With 10 man groups roaming wvw would be incredibly dull.
40+ man blobs are stupid as well, even if I enjoy wiping them :p
Ideally I see wvw as a place for guilds to roam and the perfect size for that is 20-25.
Obviously this my opinion..

But the current situation is that we need to adapt to the meta and current playstyle, if enemies are running around with 40 man guild groups, we need to counter that with similar numbers, simple as that. Hopefully things will change.

. Anything below 10 vs 10 was a rare sight or a huge stepdown in quality compared to the players from the T1/T2 servers we faced during the last months. Maybe i just got unlucky during my playtime, but from what i’ve encounterd, i didn’t even bother with food buffs.

I hope that didn’t sound to kitteny, i just think WvW is way past its peak which is sad.

Personally I think 10 or below is just WAY too small. WvW is about large scale battles not roaming groups. I think you are playing the wrong game mode.
Ideal would be 3 guilds of 20-25 players on each BL imo.

I think wvw is reaching its peak, devs said they will be trying to encourage people NOT to group up to 1 big blob in the next updates. And from experience from WAR for example, as time passed the quality of RvR only increased, when I quit WAR there were only quality roaming guilds full of loyal players, I am hoping WvW will reach that point eventually.
