The price far outweighs the stat increase. Its nowhere near worth the ludicrous amount of money to get 500 in a crafting profession, then make the actual gear.
I’d rather horde my money until Arenanet makes decent looking legendary weapons.
Its possible to get the Guild Wars books from Play.com, another trusted and popular website that ships to the UK.
Ya. :L Sounds a bit more appropriate. I estimated the length of Tequatl, which probably threw mine so far away, and the fact I rounded by like, 0.2ft, and when thats multipled by large numbers, throws it off even further, but it still illustrated the point Zhaitan is minidragon.
Its a shame we cant compare Zhaitan’s wingspan with Kralk’s. Beacuse all we know about Kralkatorrik’s wings is that its possible for them to block out the sun when they’re open, and beacuse we haven’t seen Kralkatorrik’s wings, we cant even estimate.
Warning: Very bad and very approximate maths incoming.
Im a Charr player, and the tallest size a charr can be is approximately 6ft 10, lets round that to 7ft, and if I had to estimate, I would guess Tequatl is about 10-15 full size charrs long. Meaning Teq is approximately 70ft long.
From the image that Konig posted about the size comparison between Zhaitan and Teq, I suppose Zhaitan is around 4 Tequatls long, meaning Zhaitain would be 280ft long. Pretty long.
However, official lore states Kralkatorrik is 1000ft long, lore also states Glint was 20x smaller then Kralkatorrik, meaning she was around 50ft, similar to Teq, which for a Dragon Champion, sounds about right, considering Teq, The Shatterer and Claw of Jormag are around the same size, give or take a few feet, maybe a dozen or two.
So yes, Zhaitan is like, not even 1/3 the size of Kralkatorrik. Pretty small in comparison.
Im my opinion, I feel like The Mists is the foundation for anything, therefore it holds the outcomes of anything, and everything, even things that never happened, past present and future.
I believe the official lore is that sPvP is the mists allowing us to see battles that have/will take place at some point. For example, Khylo was a fortress in Ascalon, when the humans still owned Ascalon, meaning the “Battle of Khylo” has already taken place, but thats the only spvp map im aware of that has any noticeable lore, besides Legacy of The Foefire, which is obviously just a small bit of the battle between the humans and charr for Ascalon.
As for WvW, I think the WvW “Mists Wars” are canon, while not canon, hence the nature of the mists, it holds the outcomes of all things, even those that will never occur, the WvW Mist Wars being one of these things. Like, in my opinion, I feel like the Mist Wars are their own isolated existence, separate from Tyria’s, hence why we never see any named NPCs in there. Like, for all we know, the NPCs inside WvW may not even be aware of their own existence, and their only purpose and desire is to battle.
FoTM is based around Dessa discovering these premonitions the mists holds/has fabricated, and is analyzing them to collect data for her research, and the player’s role in FoTM is that Dessa has requested the player to enter the “Fractals” and make them safe enough for her research team to explore. I think this has to be 100% canon.
EoTM? God knows, I guess its canon, beacuse Kiel sends us in there to go after Mai and The Aetherblades. In theory it probably has the most stable lore of any of the mist realms in GW2. But on a side note, its name contradicts its own existence, beacuse I suppose the mists has no physical limitations or dimensions, therefore how can it have an “Edge”?
I suppose the mists can be anything that anyone wants it to be, beacuse there is no concrete lore on it, or how it works, except for the fact we know its there.

I just noticed this today, when trying to pick a new armor set that would look nice, on one of my, many many charr characters. (All 8 of my characters are Charr)
Why is the cloth artificially propped up on charr?
On armors where the legs have trenchcoat or trail-style backs, the cloth is floating by some kind of magic. Like, look at the HoTW Heavy Leggings, or the OoW Light Leggings, they float.
Why cant they just fall down and trail like any other cloth armor? It looks like my charr’s cloth armor is made of plastic, for goodness sake. The only reason point out Charr tail clipping so much, is beacuse the armor sticks out at a 90 degree angle, and clips the entire tail, but if it would just fall straight down, the tail would only clip where it connects to the body, giving the illusion of a hole in the armor for the tail.
Keep the plastic for Halloween weapon skins.
I have a feeling you are not telling the complete story.
I am not joking, I was in WvW, and I looked at the map to waypoint, and realized, “oh god, my server is doing well in WvW, wonderful.”, so I gone to the chat, and said I was pleased, and my reply was:
“Who the hell are you?”
“Some kind of a kitten excuse for a human”
“Everyone block this kitten”
Obviously that little chat log was really in broken English, rectified so its slightly more eligible.
I never said the server does badly, I just said “Wow, our server is doing really well, all of BL, and half of EB”. and I started getting absolutely hammered.
Also, im on Desolation.
Ive just been in WvW, doing my world completion, which has taken over 1 year and 3 months since I finished Tyria and moved over to WvW to do the world completion there, and I went into WvW, to see if I can get my last 2 vistas, and quite frankly, im disappointed to say the WvW community has turned to kitten.
I said in team chat, how happy I was that our server is doing well, considering we owned our entire borderland, and half of EB, a rare occurrence, considering normally we do so badly in WvW, and a load of people started getting angry at me, and said they had blocked me.
What happened? The WvW community used to be so lovely, now the chat is dead, and people get aggressive over positive comments?
I think they need to keep the content they add, rather then deleting it. Its an insult to all the hard work and effort the team put in, to make some genuinely wonderful content, just to wipe it off 2 weeks later.
Its Heavy Ascended Armour, and the greatsword is the Legendary greatsword Sunrise.
Something you can do with…relative…quickness, is sPvP. for 1500 Glory and 20s you can get a Tome of Knowledge, which will give you 1 level up.
a wonderful, beautiful thing. Technically your buying a level 80 for approximately 117k Glory and 15g 60s.
All 8 of my characters are charr. 1 for every profession, and my Theif is a female.
I love her to bits, although my Necro is my “main”, she holds up much better in sPvP. Shes not the sneaky-type theif as well. I use a P/D build, so lots of shadowstepping in and out, no need for stealth when you can just teleport out of range.

Rank does not = skill.
I think if you use the random game thing for Hotjoin, then it should be intelligent enough to place you in a game where there are players of similar rank, but if you manually select, you should be able to play what you want.
I guess I found a way round the hobo sacks. You guys know how I refer to the white sacks hanging off the Grenade Kit as “Toilet Brush Holders”? Ive said in a few places, but when I was looking at them, I realized they look more like rolls of toilet paper. So I decided to work the minor detail into my Engineer’s backstory that she has an Obsessive Cleaning Disorder, and carries round a ton of tissues with her to wipe up any dirt she finds.
Explains the toilet rolls. Not sure why she’d keep them in the same place as her grenades though.
When you attach something to it, you can find a way round anything by laughing at it. Ugly hobo sack becomes the container for a crazy pyromaniac’s cleaning supplies. Sometimes im worried she’ll accidentally reach in and pull out and throw a bottle of bleach at them instead of a grenade in PvP on accident.
(edited by Argon.1563)
Where are these notes? I genuinely cant find them anywhere, ive been in and out of all the forums I could think they’d be hidden in.
I would say Hammer, possibly Mace, but I doubt it.
I don’t use any kits besides Flamethrower, just beacuse its the only one that looks remotely decent and fits the weapon, rather then being a bag thats so packed full of sheer junk, you have to hang your toilet brush holders off the side of the bag.
I think the hobosacks should be removed, and instead, we should be given a graphic of the weapon we’re using. Example: Grenade kit. Hold a grenade, throw grenade, and it makes it more clear towards what kit is being used in PvP.
For example, currently, if you run into a engineer in pvp, the only way to tell what kit they are using, is to wait for them to attack, or count the amount of toilet roll holders hanging off the hobosack. Ive played engineer, and still only know Med and Flamethrower by look.
4v5 is fine, I would be a hypocrite if I said 4v5 is impossible, its simply unfavorable. a probability that can be beaten with a smidgen of tactics, as apposed to the traditional PvP culture of “hurrr, movin’ object. Shall spam cooldowns on it.”
Or AN should just realize this is a premium game, and its unacceptable to disallow players from accessing it beacuse they got cut out.
For premium content, I expect premium service, not being the equivalent of stolen from.
Ive just lost connection from a match, and now im being told I cant play PvP for the next 2 days?
Excuse me, AN, but I paid for this game. Quite a lot of money as well before you over-generously lowered the price tag, and now your denying me the product I paid money for. Simply disgraceful, band of thieves.
Whats even more insulting, is that it wasn’t even my internet connection that caused me to be forced out, beacuse im running multiple applications, and im in a crystal clear skype call, indicating that your incompetent servers aren’t up to scratch, and im the one having to compensate for that.
I am genuinely disgusted, as a customer, long-term player and beta tester. So what do I do now, is it possible to submit a ticket, and get the product I paid for returned to me, or do I just have to sit here while 2 days of the game I purchased is cheated from me? I have not done a single thing wrong, and im being inconvenienced like this.
EDIT: I just noticed the tooltip on the “Dishonored” thing. Absolutely disgraceful that you would write such an infringing, subjective, and unethical thing in a game, to your players, I genuinely take offense to reading that, under these circumstances.
(edited by Argon.1563)
If you enjoy people displaying their ignorance and inarticulacy in a way that infringes and angers others, fine, just remember that some people are here to play GuildWars2, not be the victim of criminal activity. Some of the things I have seen said in games breech real-world laws, and I hope AN dealt with them accordingly. Save the “banter” for your friends, not public games.
I was going to write a great text wall of China about this very issue, but this gentleman has summed it up perfectly, in a shortened format.
Ive been playing sPvP for one week, and in that time ive seen people be: insulted, patronized, subjected to homophobic abuse, racially abused and threatened. I haven’t seen all those things happen in 1 year and 6 months of PVE and WvW. Sort it out, community.
[quote=3550103;Konig Des Todes.2086:
@Argon: It’s no longer speculation. In a livestream, Angel called them a couple.[/quote]
Ah, wonderful.
less reason to kill one of them off in my opinion.
I feel beacuse this is really the Sylvari’s first appearance in the GW2 universe, AN wants to make them sort of the spotlight, but I feel like they’re being forced on me ever so slightly, and I really don’t want to hear from them much more before I go to my local garden center and buy a year’s wages worth in weed killer.
I say roll with this one. Let this relationship blossom. (Reference to the current speculation that Marjory and Kas are a couple.)
(edited by Argon.1563)
The other night, I was thinking and realized that theres large themes of Alchemy and Potioncraft within GW2, but its never been elaborated or spoken about, so this made me think, do actual characters with skills of Alchemy or Brewing exist within Tyria, even though its not present as a crafting skill, and no characters speak of it specifically.
Think about it, we have the Engineer’s 4th traitline, “Alchemy”, which improves the use of “Elixirs”, liquid substances designed to induce certain effects, if you also think about the combustion fluid within the Engineer’s flamethrower, that must’ve been brewed and made by someone as well.
Thieves as well, have access to a set of utility skills called “Venoms”, which are supposedly the venoms of certain creatures found within Tyria. For someone to aquire these venoms from different creatures, and to know the exact effects of each different one, must have some kind of skill in Alchemy to distinguish these effects, or the venoms may just be artificial substances to emulate the effects of these creatures.
There are plenty of different references to liquid-like substances that would logically be brewed by an alchemist of some sort, however its never been referred to in Tyria, let alone regarded as some kind of a skill. Im sure there are odd little references in the lore, however its never seen within the game.
and of course theres the whole condition of Poison. and Poisons are generally brewed from plants, herbs or flowers, or some forms of magic can induce poison I guess, which is likely the source of the poison from weapon sigils, however im referring to things like the Theif’s Dagger skill “Lotus Strike” which induces poison, those blades must have been spiked with poison to induce such an effect without magic, so where does that poison come from?
Sometimes I like to think of my Engineer as being a seasoned alchemist, who brewed her own combustion fluid for her flamethrower, or sometimes I like to think the arrows used by Warriors, contain the same combustion fluid as the flamethrower, beacuse they can ignite/explode when exposed to the air, however thats just my take on the concept of Alchemy within Tyria.
Hope you have a wonderful time.
Welcome to Tyria!
From what your looking for, you seem to sound like you would enjoy Elementalist. Elementalist is a caster-style character that can operate at close, medium or long range, depending on the weapon you use. Considering your looking for a speed dependent and dual wielding character, I would recommend Dual Wield Daggers.
Dual Dagger Elementalist is melee range and has a lot of movement and mobility skills to use, and have the potential to do massive damage, however they have low HP and low defense, however it sounds like you don’t care about that drawback. ^^
Other options could be Theif, which still has the potential to dual wield, but I wouldn’t say it has nearly as much mobility as Elementalist, Warrior could be an option as well, but its not nearly as mobile as Elementalist or Theif.

For anyone who saw my thread last night about being kicked out of the game at around 8pm, ive realized its only my warrior that gets kicked out after 8pm, so ive concluded its not an issue with my ISP/Ports/Router
My warrior is currently sat in the Heart of The Mists, and im 100% unable to get on that character after 8pm, however I can get on any of my other characters, all of which are outside The Heart of The Mists.
Im not sure if this is an issue with The Heart of The Mists, or my warrior itself, I had this issue with my Necromancer when the game first launched, and using the GW2 Repair fixed it, however I done that, still no change this time, I also deleted local.dat and it still wont let me in, so im really unsure on what this is now.
EDIT: Ive just tried it at 10pm, and it works again, is 8 and 9pm some kind of server traffic peak or something within HoTM?
(edited by Argon.1563)
Will we eventually have the newer sigils and runes added to pvp? for example the sigils of Bursting and Malice, or The Runes of Torment, Sunless, etc?
Im using BT and im in the UK, and no matter what port I test, they all show up as being closed, for example, Port 80 is apparently closed, which is the port that controls the internet traffic, yet im here typing this. .-.
I think this is all I can do for tonight, tomorrow ill see if the ports open up again before 8pm.
Thanks for all your help.
Ok, ive set my computer to full-scan, so ill see if it picks anything up when its done, it shouldn’t take very long, its moving along quite quickly.
In the meantime, how would I check my ISP to see if its cut anything? Would I just see if GW2’s ports are closed/open?
My hub doesn’t appear to have any option like that. I’ve gone through every window except for one which is titled “Home Networking” but I cant access it due to a server error.
EDIT: Found it, it was tucked away in a link. Ive looked at it, and it says theres “No access control currently selected”
(edited by Argon.1563)
I’m not sure what an Access List is, but when ive googled it, it just comes up with a load of forums talking about iOS or something, but im sure nobody has been playing with my router, beacuse i’m the only person that knows the password to get inside it.
Just out of curiosity, how would I access said Access List and see what is is? Ive never come across the term before or seen it when i’ve been inside my router.
For the last 3 days now, ive been unable to play after 8pm.
I get kicked off with some false error code, either saying I have no internet connection, or my security system is messing things up. Well I can conclude my internet connection isn’t an issue, beacuse after 8pm, all my other programs, games and applications sure function fully, and my security sure isn’t an issue either until 8pm, then GW2 magically notices its there. and after that im not allowed back in until 6am the next day, bit odd and mildly suspicious considering it happens at the same time, and when I try to log back in, I get some false error saying I apparently have no internet connection.
Im going to be polite and assume this is just a coincidence and assume its just a normal crash every day at the exact same time, and it stops at the exact same time the next day. Just please identify and fix it, or give me a fix, if its apparently something im doing.
Thanks very much.
Or just learn to carry Condition Removal? I have a whole build that focuses on immobilize, and it is not overpowered in any way shape or form, beacuse all anyone has to do is blow their nose and they lose 3 conditions.
Skills 1 2 and 3 and decided by your mainhand weapon, and skills 4 and 5 are decided by your offhand, and normally other classes have 2 weapon sets to switch into mid-combat, as an Elementalist, your profession mechanic is Attunements, so you only get 1. Engineer only gets 1 weapon set as well beacuse of its profession mechanic, Toolkit.
It was supposed to be in this patch, but it obviously isn’t. Another disappointment.
I could bet the nerfs went in this patch though.
Its not your fault. Im assuming its beacuse of the new patch, everyone has come online for the new update and its overloaded the system.
My internet is running at full speed, and theres no other issues, and im in a crystal clear Skype call. Yet apparently my connection is causing me to crash GW2 while everything else runs immaculately around it. /logic.
EDIT: Now its kicking me from the game, claiming its my firewall. Any excuse to not be responsible for a crash.
(edited by Argon.1563)
Its just beacuse such a huge amount of people have rushed in for the update, its probably not your mouse bugging out, its probably just the insane skill lag. I crash before my skills go through.
Desolation. Playing from UK.
Ive had a ridiculous amount of lag the past 2 days. Ive been playing since beta and I have never had to put off playing the game 2 days in a row, this is now a joke.
The beta testing before optimization was less laggy then this, and I am not exaggerating.
EDIT: I just crashed after going into Lornar’s Pass, went back in, crashed IMMEDIATELY, then I went into the heart of the mists on my other character, crashed before I even got into the game. So I cant even enter the game anymore. Massively disappointed.
(edited by Argon.1563)
Same issue. I keep getting disconnected as well. Gets much worse in the evening.
I don’t think AN wants the stereotypical, generic MMO races as playable races. Elves, Ogres, Goblins, etc. Boring and generic.
Kodan would be quite nice though. But not those annoying bird people. I cringe to think what horrors lay behind that grubby wall. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since the last Elder Dragon attack. >.>
I would quite like a Bleed variant of the Runes of Torment, with Bleed Duration, Condition Damage and on the 6th rank, AOE Bleed on Heal. If AN doesn’t want us “Mix-matching” runes, then make bleed duration viable by giving it back all in 1 rune set.
Or a rune that centers around Stun, Interruption, all that stuff.
Superior rune of Get Out of My House
1) +25 Power
2) +5% Stun Duration
3) +50 Power
4) +5% Stun Duration
5) +90 Power
6) +5% Stun Duration and +10% damage to stunned opponents
(edited by Argon.1563)
This has been happening to me all day as well, and on the odd occasion I actually get into the game, theres a disgusting amount of skill delay lag.
Warning: Spoilers concerning storyline and dungeon storylines, and a lot of lore.
Theres plenty of things in theory. Once they kill the dragons, theres still the Flame Legion to deal with, or what remains of it, considering we pretty much nuke it in CoF.
however the main thing that could keep them going is the ghosts. They’re a immortal, self-perpetuating war that will go on until the ghosts are put to rest, and the only way for those ghosts to be put to rest is if a true human heir to the throne of Ascalon goes to the center of Ascalon city with both of the twin swords Sohothin and Magdaer in hand, and the only known heir to the throne at the moment is Jennah. Assuming she gets both swords somehow (Unlikely considering Magdaer was taken by Eir after is it recovered in the AC storyline and Sohothin is with Rytlock somehow.), she could easily just decide not to lay them to rest, just to keep the Charr busy until the end of time. and theres the possibility that the whole thing about laying the ghosts to rest by using Magdaer and Sohothin could just be a legend.
Or of course theres always the possibility the Charr don’t want the ghosts to disappear so they can kill them infinitely. in which Rytlock might refuse to hand over Sohothin so he can keep it as a paperweight, considering he does a desk job now.
(edited by Argon.1563)
spice plants to grind up and use as seasoning with the meat.
yum.
You know as much as we do. I’m among the very small minority of people who like Scarlet, but the fact AN is so enigmatic about her is annoying. I want to know what shes trying to do.
“You’ll be seeing me again, very soon.” -Scarlet
We don’t even know what you want, Scarlet. We don’t even have anything to speculate on.
Although I like Scarlet, I cant get round the idea that shes probably a smokescreen to draw out the game’s longevity, in terms of lore. Because by now, if Scarlet and Living Story wasn’t a thing, we probably could’ve beaten the crap out of another Elder Dragon or 2 by now.
