Considering Mordremoth was targeted and Zhaitan before that because they were deemed the most dangerous, the plot will naturally wind down as we work our way to lesser dragons, unless there are a couple that are hiding their strength (Most likely candidate for this is Steve.)

2015 to 2016? What do we want more of!?

Skins – Like, hello? That_Shaman put together a post today with something like, nearly a dozen unused skins in that didn’t come out in Heart of Thorns. The number of skins released in HoT was disappointing as well. 2014 had more skins come out during it than HoT, which is quite shameful, considering all the updates in 2014 were free and HoT was a paid expansion.

For the rest of what I want, I think DeceiverX has hit the nail on the head with this one, but theres a few extra things I have to add.

The Manifesto – Once again, DecieverX is on-point with this, but i’d like to point out that the game is going dangerously in the direction of a “traditional” MMO, which is the fundamental philosophy that GuildWars2 was designed to destroy, and it’s being driven that way by an ultra-loud minority who run around saying “GW2 is too easy, give me ultra-hard mode. I want time-intensive goals.” for the audience that GW2 is intended for (parents, people with careers and high-maintenance lives) GW2 has always had the right balance, but its just that 1% minority who won’t shut up about how “easy” everything is that gets it their way, and now the game is turning into another WorldOfWarfraft/Everquest clone with unreasonable time goals and generic systems like the introduction of traditional “raids”.

Insight – If nothing is off the table, what is ON the table? – Most developers who ive watched for long periods of time generally hype their updates for weeks in advance, whereas with GW2, we don’t know when the updates are coming until they’re basically due. I get most of my news from That_Shaman, because his posts on Reddit and Twitter are more insightful than the official posts because devs are so cagey and silent about development. How’s Jon Peters? That Revenant Devstream he did was the most insightful thing we had all year. That man is a role-model.

Lore – Ill be honest, the story in this game is the main reason why I play, but the way lore was handled with Heart of Thorns was a flaming wreckage (a bit like the Pact Fleet was.). I can see the very heavy foreshadowing going on that suggests LS3 will be about Revenants and Elite Specializations, which is 100% fine, but im more freaked out over the whole miss-match that happened at the very end with the whole “Enter my mind” business (no spoilers). Also, Who in the name of the Khan-Ur is Crysanthea?! Who is she?! Where did you find her?! This overwhelmingly charismatic Sylvari with no prior quarrel decides she wants to wreck a dragon with me…okay?

On an unrelated note, i’d like to see the return of the short-stories, and just other general lore-nuggets that were being thrown around during and shortly after Launch. I’d love to see short stories explaining thinks like, who is Crysanthea? Rytlock’s adventure in The Mists, or accounts of what happened during the Pact Fleet crash, since the player-character wasn’t actually there to witness it. I’d love to hear about Skybreaker. What happened to her during the crash? How did she lose her squad? Did she ever find them? How many of them died? I also feel like theres a whole plethora of unsung heroes who don’t get heard of during the Modremoth arc. Its always about “The Pact this, Pact members did that.”, when a lot of people who went to Maguuma are Seraph, Charr Legion troops, independent contractors and volunteers. We saw a lot of characters like this in Orr such as Snarl Backdraft, Galina Edgecrusher and Elli, so why don’t characters of similar background appears in Maguuma? We saw plenty in The Silverwastes who seemingly vanished.

Time – Expanding on the lore bit, I get that Maguuma will eternally have to be locked into 1328AE’s timeline to keep HoT content relevant, but can we please fix Fort Salma, Scalecatch and Concorde? Those 3 areas do not need to be time-warped like Orr currently is. Speaking of areas that don’t need to be time-warped, since dungeons are now redundant on a mechanical level after the rewards nerf, can we know what happened to those areas after 1325AE? For example, what happened in Fireheart Rise after the events of Citadel of Flames? Or what about Path of Starry Skies in Frostgorge Sound? Surely that city is quite built-up by now since it’s construction started in 1325AE. Its been 3 years.

May 2016 be a good one. I won’t sleep until I know exactly what Revenants are.

Butcher’s Yard or The Bane. Probably the two most iconic Charr-themed arenas that i’d love to see made functional.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Butcher%27s_Yard
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Bane

Obviously there is an actual duelling arena in the Guild Halls, but from the one ive experienced (Gilded Hollow), they’re pretty terrible. Any of the features in there are ridiculously overpriced for most guilds of average to large size and even then, theres some obnoxious void round the edge you can fall from and die, which happens more often than not if you’re playing Revenant with Riposting Shadows, or Sword Ranger with Quickening Zephyr.

Mordremonth's true form (spoilers)

Argon.1563

The Mouth of Modremoth is Mordremoth’s real body. Notice how its a real dragon instead of a plant-like being, akin to Mordrem. I think the idea is that all the vines and plants that sprout from it come out of the tail, and it’s permanently rooted to it’s lair, explaining why it hasn’t been roaming around Tyria on it’s own behalf.

Mordremoth is effectively immortal and can resurrect itself using a vessel it’s corrupted, as long as it has a mental connection via The Dream. However, its likely this ability has the limitation of requiring a body with specific properties, explaining why Mordremoth simply doesn’t resurrect himself using a random Mordrem Guard. Meaning he can only sustain himself within his own body, or Trehearne’s body, due to his status as the first Sylvari. Its likely that Diarmid, Hareth and Adryn could have been potential candidates for Mordremoth to resurrect himself with also, but since they were already dead at this point, he couldn’t have used them.

I think the only reason why the Pact Commander was capable of destroying Mordremoth’s mind was because he was heavily weakened by The Pact who were fighting his body from outside. If it wasn’t for that, Mordremoth definitely would have defeated the Commander. From there, his mind had been shattered, and forced to resurrect inside Trehearne’s body, and The Mouth of Mordremoth was already dead, so it was a simply task of killing Trehearne to ultimately kill the dragon and all of his potential vessels.

Its pretty ambiguous, and theres probably a couple of holes somewhere in my take on it. LS3 will undoubtedly be focusing on the fallout caused in this arc, and covering The Revenants and Elite Specialisations, so its likely that none of this will be explained in full, but if we’re lucky, it might turn up in an in-game readable book somewhere. Keep an eye out.

Hey all. Just wanted pop in give some insight on this change. First off, sorry for the undocumented change. It is always our goal to get everything in the release notes, in spite of what the last few updates may have led you to believe
Now, this reduction in refinement is one of a few different options we were looking at to bring the cost of wood back in line, but it wasn’t actually intended to ship yet. Since it is out there now, enjoy! But we will be keeping an eye on the economy of this and other common materials. If in the future things crash or explode (that’s economy talk for “crash” or “explode”) the refinement recipes are one area we can adjust to keep things stable.
Merry Wintersday!

Now if only the same could happen to cloths. Ive never actually seen anybody on this forum have an issue with the price of wood.

Staff Elementalist is often regarded as a support set, but it can actually do a lot of DPS. With certain builds, Staff can have the highest Ele damage output without relying on conditions.

Elementalist’s damage output is also increased if you Elite Spec them to become a Tempest. Tempest’s Overload skills can do a lot of AoE damage, particularly the Overload Air.

You’re also open to doing support if you want. You can maintain optimal Tempest damage while using “Elemental Bastion” which basically does a big chunk of healing every time you activate an Aura and you can always just use Water Attunement when ever you feel the need to be a bit supportive.

Staff skins are quite good as well. Lots of variety, since you sound like the type of person who’s into the cosmetic side of the game.

Other than Elementalist, I think Mesmer Elite Specialized as a Chronomancer could work. Mesmer was regarded by ArenaNet as the hardest and most complex profession to play at launch. Without Chronomancer, Mesmer is very single-target damage based, but Chronomancer grants it access to Well skills, which are basically giant circular areas that pulse out damage and other effects.

Elementalist (Tempest with Staff)
or Mesmer (Chronomancer)

Take a look into those two things and see what you like. Getting Elite Specializations is difficult, but you can test them for free in The Heart of The Mists on the training golems there. (Go to your PvP tab to access it.)

I assume you’re referring to Viper’s stat gear rather than Sinister, since you mention Black Diamonds and Condition Duration.

Currently, Power Necromancer/Reaper is better than Conditions, but its not so awful that you can’t run it. Its down to preference, so put it on Necromancer if you want.

For Raids, Viper’s Warriors and Engineers are in demand, the Raid-runners can’t get enough of them, so consider giving one of those two professions a set of it.

[HoT SPOILER!!] Pact Leader

Argon.1563

Personally, I think its more probable that the pact will dissolve after this, and the roles of the 3 orders as independent entities will be emphasised more.

The player character cannot become the pact marshal, considering they are an official member of an order, and all the other major characters that appeared within HoT such as DE and DE2.0 are affiliated with other major factions (High Legions, Colleges, Seraph, etc.)

Unless somebody totally random like Crysthanthea takes up the role, Anet will have to introduce a new character to do it, which I think would be a bit unfavourable, because they’d have to heavily focus in on them for much of the future storyline, to show that they warrant being pact marshal, and the last thing we need is a single character taking up all the plot after the Scarlet arc.

Revenant: We need some things explained.

Argon.1563

Thank you for making such a sophisticated opening post to begin a discussion on this. I do feel there needs to be more discussion over Revenants and how we feel they work, so people who do RP can decide how to deal with them. (Ive heard a lot of concerns from RP’ers that they don’t know how to play/respond to Revenant characters they make/come across.)

Rytlock is likely stalling out Rox and co. because like you said, hes not 100% about it, so hes probably embarrassed, knowing he can’t explain it, when his personality makes him out to be quite a calculated, deductive character. Its probably also the writer’s way of nodding to the player “We’ll tell you how this works…eventually.”. I believe that LS3 will encompass a lot about Revenants, since ArenaNet has to fill the space between Elder Dragon arcs with something, just as they filled the space between Zhaitan and Mordy with the Scarlet stuff, before the Mordremoth arc kicked off.

As for the personal story involvement with Revenants, I personally like to see it as a disconnection between the story and mechanical elements of GuildWars2. Although somebody can become a Revenant from the get-go, my Revenant character was originally a Warrior who travelled to Orr to fight against The Risen, and later became a Revenant in 1328/9AE (depending on how long the HoT arc lasts in lore.). For the time prior to HoT in her personal timeline as a character, I see her as a Warrior, and in-game when doing the personal story, I just “deal with it”.

In terms of how a Revenant’s magic works, GW2 has a lot of consistency between lore and mechanical elements (which, yes, does contradict my previous paragraph, theres always bound to be kitten somewhere when discussing Revenants.) so I feel like a lot of it can be deducted from what we see in-game.

I feel like Revenants have two distinct types of ability open to them. Generalized Revenant abilities that do not rely on Legends (represented through weapon skills) and the abilities they gain from Invoking a Legend. General abilities likely include the power to enhance their weaponry by conjuring effects from The Mists into their weapon, explaining how their weapons can burn, chill, poison, torment, etc, as well as their ability to evaporate into mist and shadowstep while in this state, as seen with skills like Unrelenting Assault and Frigid Blitz.

Its probable that Invocation is a more advanced technique than basic/general abilities, therefore its likely that there exists Revenants who cannot or choose not to Invoke Legends. Invocation is a more mysterious topic from our point of view, considering Revenants can emulate the techniques of the Legend, and even conjure physical objects from The Mists, such as the Jade Daggers, or Vengeful Hammers. We know Revenants of a reasonable power level (On par with Rytlock or stronger) can open portals to The Mists, as we see Rytlock do in Verdant Brink when he reappears, explaining how they can bring forth objects or even manifestations of legends (Glint’s Facet of Chaos) into the Tyrian world.

Considering it seems currently impossible to siphon magic out of The Mists (otherwise Asurans would’ve been doing it years ago), this means Revenants either operate outside the bounds of regular magic that other professions do. My theory is that although siphoning magic out of The Mists is impossible, it is possible to send magic into The Mists, and in exchange, Revenants are granted their powers, either as a natural exchange from The Mists or an exchange with their Legend, which could be a willing exchange or forced (In the case of Mallyx, who obviously doesn’t want to cooperate with mere mortals.)

I don’t think the powers of a Revenant can possibly be as catastrophic or powerful as things such as the authentic Jade Wind or Rite of The Great Dwarf, due to the fact, as represented in-game, a Revenant’s powers are significantly limited in duration, range or strength. Its also well established in the GW franchise that if a magic-user uses their magic outside the bounds of their capability, they are forced with temporarily damaging their body, or dying. (Such as Koro Sagewind suffering blindness after using her Mesmeric magic to a high degree, or in Sea of Sorrows, there is a Charr character who dies after attempting to ward too much damage using a Wall of Reflection.) Meaning a regular run-of-the-mill Revenant without the levels of magic somebody like Shiro had at the time of the Jade Wind, would certainly die if they attempted to crystallize an area the size of The Jade Sea, and probably fail in the process.

As for how Revenants become their profession…im stumped as well…Its been stated by the Anet lore team that they don’t need to enter The Mists to become a Revenant, and yes, you are correct in saying that all a budding Revenant requires is an “open mind”. That was also stated in the original “Roleplaying The Revenant” lore blog post. Considering the relations between Legends and people in the mortal realm haven’t occurred before Rytlock’s venture into The Mists, its likely that he performed something in there that has enabled people to commune with Legends, to gain access to this new magic/power. What this event is that Rytlock triggered, I can’t really say. It could have something to do with Sohothin’s original nature as a magical artefact, or something completely unrelated. Its for this reason that I believe Ritualism and Revenants are different “things”, considering Ritualism seems to have died out in mainland Tyria (to our knowledge) since we lose contact with Cantha, and nobody in Tyria has since been able to use traditional Ritualist techniques (to our knowledge).

Its true, we need more information on this. Even if its just little snippets here and there like how we have pieced together the mechanics of the other 8 professions. More short stories would always be appreciated, even if it wasn’t about Rytlock. I wouldn’t mind a short story about a new Revenant trying to grasp his/her abilities.

DISCLAIMER: Everything is speculation.

Im going to bed. Thinking about Revenants and metaphysical proto-realities makes my head hurt.

My team obviously can’t be logged in all the time, in fact, its more-or-less impossible to get 5 people to log in simultaneously, so what does ArenaNet do? Remove solo queue and emphasise premade teams, the things that were toxic to PvP.

promoting premade teams has also completely killed the variety in PvP. I keep seeing the exact same team comp over and over again.
Warrior – 2 Dragonhunters – Chrono/Tempest – Reaper

Congratulations. You’ve gutted your own game. Another example of ArenaNet trying to appeal to the 1%. In the end, that 1% is the only playerbase that will remain if you keep on like this, then who’ll be paying for your expansions to make sure you can feed your e-sports campaigns, and more notably, feed your families? Not me.

Thats if Riot doesn’t shut you down for borderline copyright infringement. This new system is a complete carbon copy of LoL, except the fool who has decided to make this happen hasn’t considered that it only works in LoL, because there is so much variety in playable characters/classes, it is impossible to create a “perfect composition”. This isn’t the case in GW2, as there are compositions that can hard-counter anything in the game, such as the one I stated above.

Im going to log out now, so I don’t have to look at you dismantling this game any further.

Personally, ive never met anybody who has issues with the auras being over-the-top. I do however, drop ~50 FPS when ever a Herald decides to use Facet of Chaos. Just so ya’ know.

All these effect nerfs are done in the interest of E-sports and making the game more spectatable, but now the game is just hard to play, because everything is more-or-less invisible. If a player can’t see the line around a player to signify the aura, what makes you think a spectator watching through a low-resolution Twitch stream can? Meanwhile Heralds are currently dominating the game by pressing 0 to lag their opponents, leaving them open to an Unrelenting Assault while they hit their computer with a fire extinguisher.

Facet of Chaos is literally the only visual effect in the game that causes my FPS to drop, yet everything else is getting nerfed to the point where I can’t figure out whats going on any more, because everybody is effectively stealth. I just see the players waving their hands around, then suddenly I take damage. I have no idea what skills im getting hit by, because theres no visual cue.

The first Sylvari awoke in 1302AE. Mordremoth awoke in 1327AE.

Zhaitan is really dead, it was confirmed by one of the ArenaNet lore writers.

Dragon minions are just immune to eachother’s corruption. Its just an aspect of how they work. So no, risen mordrem can’t exist, however, dragon magic can coexist within the same entity, demonstrated by The Inquest within the Crucible of Eternity, having several monsters which are able to use magical abilities based off more than one dragon.

Dragon Champions can create minions of their own, and corrupt living things to become minions. Even though they can create minions, they do not belong to them. All minions ultimately serve their Elder Dragon. Its unknown if a Champion can ascend into the status of an Elder Dragon, however, it is implied it is. Champions are capable of absorbing magic, as evidenced by the fact Tequatl suddenly gained a boost in power in 1326AE, its also implied that one of the reasons for Glint attempting to kill Kralkatorrik was because she wanted to devour his magic to become an Elder Dragon.

Dragon Champions and minions are created. Elder Dragons themselves are time immemorial. We don’t actually know if they were born or created, however, its heavily implied that dragons were a widespread race that lived across the Tyrian planet thousands of years ago, which Elder Dragons likely belonged to (the only organic dragon we know of being Kunnavang), meaning they would have been born somehow. Glint also may have been an organic dragon that was later corrupted by Kralkatorrik, however, im not sure if this is confirmed.

The Toxic Alliance have no connection to Mordremoth. They were a splinter group made by Scarlet under the promise that she would help them to summon a Krait Prophet to grant them power. She used them to develop the miasma that would poison the atmosphere in Lion’s Arch during her attack on the city.

Scarlet has her own page on the wiki that is very detailed: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scarlet_Briar

Your friend is right, Scarlet did create the Toxic Alliance. However, she also made many groups including the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades, before persuading them to work for her. She used the 3 alliance’s research to prepare her attack on Lion’s Arch, after using Energy Probes to locate that the leyline she was looking for was under Lion’s Arch. She dropped The Breachmaker, a gigantic drill onto Lion’s Arch to hit this leyline. Although she was killed in The Battle of Lion’s Arch, The Breachmaker hit the leyline, redirecting the flow of magical energy towards Mordremoth, awakening him.

“DSD” refers to The Deep Sea Dragon: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deep_sea_dragon

The Deep Sea dragon is a sixth, enigmatic dragon who we don’t know a lot about. We only really know that his minions take the form of “tentacled horrors”, and that his name starts with the letter S, as seen in a scroll belonging to the Durmand Priory which contains the names of all the dragons, however, the scroll is damaged, meaning we only have the first letter of the DSD’s name.

I would imagine Charr try to make sure they have cubs before doing something they’re likely to die during. A Charr’s life obligation is to benefit their legion, and can be assumed, having cubs to increase the legion’s size is one of the ways they can do that. They also just tend to sleep around a lot, meaning many of them have cubs all over the place.

Keeping this in mind, its likely Charr bloodlines can go on for a very long time, since the likelihood they will have cubs before they die is very high. This is probably even more true for members of the Imperator’s bloodlines knowing their offspring will replace them as Imperator upon their death or retirement, meaning they will deliberately have multiple cubs.

Think of it like a human nobility. Many of them have multiple children to ensure that even if one dies, at least one will remain to inherit titles, estates, wealth, etc, and carry on the bloodline.

As for how well recorded it is, it isn’t really elaborated on concerning how well documented the Charr are and how well they keep track of things, but they did invent the printing press, so its very likely they have the Khan-Ur’s descendants recorded in writing, as well as the details of all other soldiers, warbands and companies. (At least those who came after the printing presses, as well as those who have been remembered from before it’s invention.)

There is actually an item called “Blood of The Khan-Ur”, which has an icon that appears to be a vial of blood in a necklace, however, the flavour text conflicts this, implying its a manufactured necklace, stating it was “forged in the blazing fires of the Black Citadel’s foundry.”. Weather this is simply a metaphor, and it really is a genuine vial of his blood is unclear, but if it is a surviving piece of him, it shows that if the Charr can keep a vial of blood around for over 1300 years, they can remember the names of a few important people throughout history to identify who a genuine Imperator is. I think the eldest Imperator we hear of, besides the 4 originals, is the one who battled alongside Kalla Scorchrazor ~200-ish years ago. Im pretty sure his name is floating around somewhere, but it always eludes me.

Considering we’ve only met 2 of the 4 Charr Imperators, (Smodur and Gaheron), its likely more information on the Khan-Ur’s lineage will come later when Bangar and Malice are introduced into the story. Smodur will have to tell us what hes done with The Claw of The Khan-Ur eventually.

Personally, I don’t think it will ever be explicitly stated if the tradition of the Khan-Ur/Imperator’s bloodline has held true for over a millennium, however, we have to assume it has, since we don’t really have anything to prove otherwise.

Argon.1563

I think they deliberately avoided giving the Revenant a lot of weapons, so they actually have weapons to give it later with future Elite Specs.

Look at the problem they’ve got themselves into with Warrior. Where it can use every weapon in the game with the exception of a small handful, they’ll run out of potential weapons to give it in a few generations of Elite Specs, meaning they’ll have to go to the effort of creating a new weapon, rigging it and making skins for it, as well as adding it to other professions as a default weapon so its not exclusive to Warrior.

The less weapons a profession has at baseline, the less effort they’ll need to put in later on, so more time can be spent developing elite specs, rather than developing new weapon types every generation after Warrior can use all 16 current weapon types. (excluding offhands)

Revenant has enough remaining weapons for 13 generations, whereas Warrior only has 8 (including offhands). Lets hope ArenaNet gives us some interesting weapons.

Your fave Character

Brun Ingotspitter

Probably the most interesting character we’ve met so far in my opinion. Taimi seems to take an interest in him, and its not every day we’ve met someone who is capable of integrating magic into blacksmithing. I also want to know who exactly hes working for. Although he wears a Vigil uniform, its not in the traditional colours of The Vigil, and Taimi also jokingly asks him if she could join The Iron Legion, suggesting he could be part of the forces that Smodur agreed to send at the summit in The Grove.

Im curious towards why we hadn’t seen anything more of Brun after LS2. Brun definitely taught Taimi some things, so why didn’t anything come from this new knowledge? Also, where is his work utilized? We don’t meet any characters who have magical tools/weapons and explicitly state it. (With the exception of figures like Rytlock and Trehearne, who’s weapons obviously weren’t created by Brun.)

The Dragons "Weaknesses" spoilers

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Argon.1563

Quite frankly, I think the idea of these dragons having specific weaknesses is ridiculous. Theres more than one way to skin an apple.

Because of this little point that was dropped into HoT, I feel like every expansion is going to revolve around the same plot trope. “Finding the weakness”.

I would have much rathered the dragons have no weakness, and the only way to kill them is with brute force, like we did with Zhaitan. According to ArenaNet’s lore writers the dragons are described to think, and exist in a way which we could never understand, so why is a concept as simplistic as a “weakness” being applied to these creatures which are supposedly so alien?

Im hoping they retcon or forget about this “weakness” deal. Why are Tyrians trying to progress magic and engineering in order to fight future dragons, if all we have to do is hunt around for their weakness?

How do I become a Revenant?

in Lore

Argon.1563

Considering the HoT storyline was meant to be about Mordremoth, they’ll probably do a whole plot-line revolving around Revenants and Rytlock at a later date in LS3 or some other kind of storyline.

Everything we know about Revenants is contained in this blog post: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-role-playing-the-revenant/

One thing i’d like to point out is the following quote, because people running around declaring that all Revenants MUST go to The Mists or they’re not a Revenant is bugging me, when it clearly states the following in the blog post:

“a brand-new revenant starting on their journey will not have had to visit the Mists or undergo any more of an advanced process to access revenant powers than they would for the other core professions.”

Chak Gerent success is down to RNG

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Argon.1563

We’re almost 2 months after launch, and the Nuhoch Lane is still bugged. Just not enough spores + mushroom mobs spawn to satisfy the spore requirement.

There either needs to be an increase in the spores spawn rate or time limit, or a decrease to the amount of spores required. One of the three, because currently, way too many groups fail. I have met a single player since HoT has launched that has beaten this event.

The difficulty of the event is substantial, to the point where it can be done with sufficient organization, which is what I feel this game needs, but this one aspect of the event ruins the whole lot, because its effectively a coin-flip between enough spores spawning, or not.

As a commander I do get enjoyment out of this event, I regularly have attempts at this, and if im commanding Nuhoch or not, it still fails for the same reason each time: Nuhoch Spores and Mushrooms don’t spawn enough. The community as a collective is pretty much perfected in terms of the DPS, mechanics and strategies, but this one buggy aspect holds the whole thing back.

I’d also like to say that im frustrated about the fact ArenaNet is neglecting to comment on this topic, yet they’ll happily throw out blog posts and dev posts about Esports. Esports, which are only relevant to the 1%-2% of players who enter into them, whereas discussions on Gerent and other HoT content that requires attention, which effect the vast majority of players who own HoT, are being kept quiet.

Bleh.

When the events of HoT conclude in-lore, and Mordremoth has been killed by The Pact and we go home, will the vines subside/be cut away in these areas so they can be rebuilt and become functional spaces once again?

I’d hate for any more of the world to get caught in a time-warp like the Orrian Peninsula has been.

Legendary armors?

You can get the legendary armour…well…one third of it…

By defeating the Vale Guardian in the Forsaken Thicket, you’ll get the 1st book to the collection for it, the other 2 books for the 2nd and 3rd parts of the collection aren’t in the game yet.

Can we please increase the amount of visual effects on the Vale Guardian? His attacks just do such little, visually, I can’t tell what hes trying to do, then suddenly im teleported half way across the arena, with my health bar near empty.

I understand why the players have had visual effects nerfed, but the bosses didn’t need it as well. I can’t see the little blue…things…on the floor that he can summon.

I can’t see the post, there is a wall in the way.

But on a serious note, you don’t need ascended to do raids. The devs talk BS. Ive got away with exotic armour and weapons, with just the trinkets on Ascended.

Gliders in Tyria .. will it ever happen ? [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Gliding will never be a free-to-play feature, because its a selling point for HoT, but it might be enabled for HoT players that are playing in Central Tyria, if the maps get re-rigged to support gliders.

How old is Eir?

in Lore

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

Braham is currently 19 year old (born in 1309AE), so its safe to assume shes over 50 considering her abilities and knowledge.

Keep in mind 50 is probably getting close to retirement age for a Charr, explaining why Rytlock refers to her as an “old woman”, whereas Norn age much slower than other races being able to live for over 120 years, explaining how they can look younger, for longer. (or Shiverpeak herbs make excellent exfoliating masks.)

I feel like theres a lot about Eir and those surrounding her that we don’t know about. Shes probably the 2nd most enigmatic character after Rytlock from Destiny’s Edge, for example, its been stated by the writers, that there is a story behind how Eir met Garm, and why he is the only black wolf in Tyria, but we haven’t been told this, or when they met . Its also never stated how her husband died, and to top it all off, we don’t even know how old or when her father died, so we can’t figure out her age using that.

Best War Build for Raids

The only things ive seen asked for is PH/GS, which I personally refuse to run, because that build is so 2013 and Condition build.

I’d rather run condition myself, because its not boring. (Ive actually fallen asleep in my chair while playing the standard PH/GS/Zerker Warrior. Its awful.)

revenant background?

in Revenant

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

Canonically, I think hes currently the only Revenant, and hes certainly the only Herald. He’ll probably begin opening up about it in HoT Postgame/LS3, or whatever story continuation Anet decides to do.

In the lore post about Revenants that turned up a few months ago, it said anybody can learn the profession if they simply have an open mind and are willing to receive it, and you do not need to go to The Mists to learn the profession, so Rytlock will probably start teaching people, or he’ll simply release a load of information about it, and let people teach themselves.

A Charr, a Norn and a Sylvari walk into a bar. The Charr orders a bottle of their best Black Citadel Whiskey, the Norn orders a tankard of their finest ale, and the Sylvari orders a glass of their freshest rainwater. The bartender turns to the Sylvari and says “Sorry, im not paid to water the plants.”

Charr Gliding

Argon.1563

I don’t think Charr would have an issue with flying/gliding, since they engineer helicopters and contributed in the engineering of airships.

I think its more likely that they just prefer to put their arms out in front of them, than behind them, because of their curved backs. Its probably uncomfortable for the arms to go at that angle considering the angle of their back.

The only use ive personally found for OH Sword is Chak Gerent.

Because both of the Axe’s attacks will degrade the break bar, which you want to avoid at Gerant, it means im basically fighting with 1 hand, so I swap to OH sword for the block.

Its official. Nobody is trying any more. I haven’t seen a taxi on LFG for TD in 2 days, and ive been checking back at peak times when people normally do it.

GW2C also said they would be doing a run at 8pm today, but they changed their mind to go and do something else, so if you’ve got the biggest organizations putting it off, then the average player will as well.

What Saurians actually give loot?

Ive been grinding for more than a few hours now, searching for my Mistward Helmet Lining, which drops from Saurians.

The problem with HoT mobs: They don’t give loot.

Where can I find Saurians that actually have a drop table I can get this thing out of? Because ive been dancing all across Maguuma on a killing spree in search of this thing, and it is nowhere to be found.
