What Rytlock is hiding (LS S3E2 SPOILERS)

Argon.1563

I don’t think Smodur would be particularly vexed with Rytlock for disappearing, since he doesn’t seem to get angry at much of anything. While I don’t think they’ll be wary of him as a magic-user, I think they’ll be bothered by the fact hes wielding a completely new form of magic that hasn’t been seen before, considering Necromancers and Elementalists are commonplace in the legions, and nobody gives a skritt’s backside about them any more.

I think what they’ll be more wary of is the fact Glint is his main legend. Regardless of what public opinion is of Glint, she was still a dragon champion of Kralkatorrik, which is bound to rub more than a few Charr the wrong way. They could see him as some sort of emissary of the dragon or corrupted in some capacity.

Its been established that Rytlock has a strong dislike for his job as a Tribune because its largely an office job, but i’d be interested to see if he some kind of alternate agenda, considering hes willing to go Gladium for whatever cause hes ditching the legions for. Its quite obvious that he conversed with something or somebody in The Mists which is why hes acting the way he is. Im just hoping its not as obvious as the chestnut-theory of “Rytlock spoke with Glint and told him to enact her legacy.”

Hello there, ive been playing since launch day, and with the introduction of Precursor crafting, as well as my personal funds reaching a certain point, I now feel able to begin crafting my first legendary weapon.

Ive selected Twilight to be my first legendary for my Reaper, but it takes NINETY Deldrimor Steel to craft Dusk, and its becoming my biggest issue when creating the precursor. Obviously I won’t ask for fully made Deldrimor Steel, because its quite expensive to ask of generosity, however, if anyone has any unwanted Iron, Steel, Platinum Ore, Darksteel or Mithril that they can’t store, have no use for, or simply don’t want, i’d be very appreciative of any donations.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! I was going to have to wait until mid November/early December for Dusk/Twilight, but Halloween is starting to look realistic.

should Charged Quartz still be time gated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Argon.1563

When Charged Quartz first came out, I think the one-per-day mechanic was acceptable, because it was balanced in relation to what Charged Quartz was required for: Celestial gear, and only Celestial gear.

However, now Quartz is used obsessively in a lot of crafting recipes and Guild Halls, I feel the time gate needs removing, or we should be able to make multiple Charged Quartz per day. 3 to 5 perhaps.

Will "The Art of GW2" return?

Argon.1563

For anyone out of the loop, “The Art of GuildWars2” was a printed book of concept/game art that was circulating before and during GW2’s original launch, and it was sold in NCSoft’s online store, however, after ArenaNet pulled the game from NCSoft’s, the book is no longer being sold.

Will the book ever be exported from the official ArenaNet/GuildWars2 shop? Is it still even in print?

Obviously I could buy a copy from any manor of shady online retailer, however, all the ones ive seen are being sold via questionable websites, or at extortionate pricing, and as well i’d much rather just purchase via the official shop, because then I know that money is going directly to ArenaNet.

Revenants

Argon.1563

The attitude I’ve had is that a revenant PC was some other profession before Rytlock arrived, and they switched under Rytlock’s tutelage. We don’t see that mechanistically because that would be… rather awkward.

This is my attitude to it. Theres plenty of things that are different mechanically to what they are lore-wise, for example, certain NPCs have different appearances, weapons and even professions to what are described in lore. The two don’t need to be 100% seamless.

Ive written my Revenant character to have been a Warrior before becoming a Revenant. Obviously theres no in-game representation of that, because game mechanics don’t exist to show it. When playing a fantasy-themed game, imagination is paramount to avoid kitten over timeline discontinuity.

Rather than 5 of the same profession, now theres only 4. Good job on slighting improving the matchmaking system, Anet!

Sarcasm, of course. We lost this match terribly, because Dragonhunter is so ridiculously overpowered still, and PVP is currently an analogue of “Which team has the most DH? They win.”

Matchmaking has been broken since the dawn of time. Why are we shy of 4 years into this game, and still facing team comps of 3/4/5 of the same profession.

Also, if anyone does know what this does or influences, please write on the wiki, even if its vague. It’ll save someone in the future the discomfort im having right now, because I have no idea if my account has been permanently corrupted somehow or something by this.

Have I missed something, because I ran through the story a second time, and couldn’t figure out what Rytlock was referring to. Is anyone aware of what Rytlock was doing in the time between the first and second chapters? What was it he had to “take care of”?

Is this even relevant, or am I reading too deeply into filler text? I can’t help but be scrutinous of Rytlock to see if the devs are leaking information about Revenants finally.

Each race and gender received 3 additional hairstyles – Quote taken from today’s patch notes.

This is a blatant lie. Human, Norn and Sylvari received 3 hairstyles for race and gender, which should be a total of 6 per race. Charr and Asura got 3 hairstyles for the race alone, before copy and pasting the hairstyle to the same gender, therefore they only got 3 per race.

Charr and Asura players do exist, ArenaNet. Act like it.

-Deep Glacial Sky is really nice blue.
-Charred is good is hands down the best dye in the game for emphasising your armour’s texture.
-Cinders is also good at bringing out texture, but its a bit mouldy-looking. Might work well on a bone-themed character.
-Cyanide is the most multichromatic dye in the game (Depending on what armour and texture it goes on, it can turn anywhere from Blue, to Green, to a tinge of Yellow.)
-Molten is a good orange, but it reacts strangely to leather, turning darker or lighter.
-Gold Fusion is a very good “dirty” yellow, if you want a yellow thats a bit grittier, and doesn’t come up too bright like Flare or Pyre, it also looks like pretty convincing brass if used on a metallic texture.
-Enamelled dyes work nicely on heavily textured skins, but they can turn a bit neon if on flat surfaces.
-Electro dyes if you want to make a statement…or upset a few epileptic players. Glint dyes also fall into the bright/neon category, but just on a less offensive brightness.

Or, they’re deliberately not putting it into the game, as a prestige item for players who played in WvW Season 1, which is bad in my opinion, because when ever I see a discontinued item, it doesn’t make me think they have an achievement, it just makes me think they were in the right place at the right time.

I have been playing GW2 since beta, and I have not liked a single set since launch, and this is the first set I would actually use on my characters, however, it is also the first set I cannot obtain, because of these shady business endeavours.

Somehow I have a feeling ArenaNet isn’t going to be able to win over the playerbase on this one. Even in GW1, skins were the endgame, so making this stuff as hard as possible for players to get a hold of, isn’t going to rub well with anybody. If we wanted to spend irl cash on cosmetics, we’d go and play a random Chinese-made MMO, who tend revel in such mechanics. Nobody in their right mind is going to convert gold to gems for this, because the loot tables in the chests will bankrupt any player, and we know that, because the kind people over on Reddit, have been doing tables of chest drops, and shown us that they’re a total waste of money, in-game, irl or otherwise.

The Charr - Beauty of the Beast

in Lore

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

Im about all things Charr. I have 9 characters, one for each profession, and all of them are Charr.

I have a long-running tradition of always playing the Anthropomorph/“Furry” races in video games, so it was natural that I would go for Charr, however, I didn’t take to them immediately. Their hunched appearance originally really put me off, because it just looked awkward, so I was very nearly a human player, then in the weeks between the final beta/stress tests and GW2 launch, I read as much lore as I could on all the different races, and figured out humanity in GuildWars2 is basically just Victorian England with American accents, making the Charr unique, in comparison.

Normally, the anthropomorphic races in games are always tribal, bestial savages, because “animals”, so it was really refreshing to see a franchise had done something different with them, having made them them an industrial and technological outlier, in an otherwise traditional medieval fantasy world. I also love the military theme about them, which further strays from generic “animal people = disorganized savages” trope.

I also got drawn into the Charr quite quickly because I relate to a lot of Charr characters’ way of thinking/sense of humor. While other races would spend a few weeks milling and tribulation over the minor details of decisions, Charr are quite “Nah, just do it.” in a very “black and white thought process” way, which is something I very much like, and can identify with in a group of characters. I also find the Charr sense of humour hilarious, in the way a lot of them take the chance to crack jokes in situations most people would find concerning (An example being Smodur’s dialogue in ‘Plan of Attack’, or a lot of Pyre Fierceshot’s dialogue in GW1).

I love the Charr lore and storyline surrounding them, knowing that we’ve only scratched the surface with what we see in game. Just the thought of knowing that we’ve only seen one third of what this race has to offer is mind boggling, and exciting especially for me, since all of my characters are written as Ash Legion who are all part of the same company, under one Centurion, so its interesting to think that although the GW universe has so much to offer, the highlight of the story for my characters hasn’t come yet, because we haven’t seen the Ash Legion Homelands and their Citadel, and not even Malice Swordshadow has made an appearance in the story, leaving a colossal volume of things that could be added to the game and explored in lore, between the Ash and Blood legions.

Im pretty adamant that Bangar Ruinbringer is bound to show in the story at some point, because of Sohothin. I like to think its implied that Rytlock quickly climbed the legion ranking ladder to protect the secret of how he got the sword, because a higher ranking officer could theoretically order him to admit how he got it, meaning Bangar is the only person capable of forcing Rytlock, which would also explain why Rytlock left his warband behind “back east”, because he is probably avoiding the Imperator. Im hoping that if this turn of events actually occurs, it will usher in-game expansion for Blood Legion Homelands/Northern Ascalon.

There is a small horde of ways in which ArenaNet could expand the Charr race, only once if which ive taken the time to explain, which would give us lore/in-game locations for the Blood and Ash legions, so im hoping they don’t bundle it all into the obvious “Kralkatorrik themed expansion pack”, because it would have to mean those areas would be pretty small in comparison to the campaign-focused areas, where we’ll be fighting the Elder Dragon. Im hoping we receive an expansion dedicated to Kralktorrik and The Crystal Desert, then a seperate, non-dragon based expansion, centring around the areas to the North and East of Ascalon, so neither section of the game’s lore gets put as an afterthought.

The tier system is meant to put u where u belong, if ur having close matches and win about 50% of the time thus staying where u are it seems like u reached ur appropriate place

8 matches today. I am still where I started. 4 losses, 4 wins. This is a recurring theme that happens. I have been stuck in the same spot for 3 days now. I haven’t gone up or down. Why? Because this season has been deliberately designed to stop players from climbing the league system.

puts on tin foil hat

Considering there has been 2 whole seasons now, there is a good variety of players spread between the tiers, therefore ArenaNet logically wouldn’t want all the players to climb to the top, because there would be nobody in Amber/Emerald.

The old pips system was fine, because it gave enough leeway for players to reliably climb the tiers, even if they lost, because losing by a hair’s width wouldn’t remove a pip, giving them a chance to gain a pip, and climb next match, whereas the new black and white system “loss = -1, win = +1”, makes it borderline impossible to climb reliably, even with premades.

I can consistently either win the game, or go 400/500 loss. In previous seasons, this means I would have been at least a whole league above where I am now. In the current, corrupt system, I have been stuck in the same spot for long enough to make me question weather I want to quit pvp or not.

Discuss.

On an unrelated note, I have never won a match on Forest of Niflhelm since S3 began. Likely because this season has so many AoE classes in the meta, all three points turn into a blast chamber because they are all enclosed, in which only the team with the most Elementalist and Necromancers can survive in. Its also probably something to do with the fact the Feng Shui is terrible in that map.

As a gay male, I think its great that they’re going out of their way to do things like Kas and Jory’s relationship, and Sya, because they’re characters who aren’t defined by their sexuality, and instead are defined by their actions in Tyria. Unlike other games, where LGBT characters’ sexuality is their main way of identifying them.

For example, Marjory isn’t “the lesbian private detective”. Shes just “a private detective, who happens to be lesbian.”.

Despite this, I don’t want to see any more stories or characters regarding human relationships at all, regardless of sexuality, because we have virtually no knowledge of how other races manage relationships, straight, gay or otherwise. I’d also like to see an interracial couple, because we know thats a thing in Tyria. Rox and Braham perhaps?

Ive always used OH sword, for the block. At least Grasping Shadow gives a bit of Fury now, so I actually have a reason to use it, if Facet of Darkness is down or im not in Dragon Stance.

Im not super keen on axe, because the location where Frigid Blitz’s shadowstep dumps you is a bit random, and its put me into undesirable locations before, and Temporal Rift’s pull is a bit buggy. I find it fails to pull more often than it does pull, and the damage is just a bit underwhelming when it does actually hit.

Shield. No, because aforementioned self-immobilize, and barely ok-ish heal.

Why did they remove OH Dagger prior to release. It likely would’ve been better than any of the offhands Rev currently gets.

Charr homosexuality?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

Although its not concrete proof, I found one (possible) Charr X Human relationship that ive been able to find in GW2. Unfortunately the NPCs are now gone, but I did get a screenie of the dialogue.

After the Battle of Lion’s Arch, you could find a Charr in the canal ward knelt down at a ruined house, talking about the death of somebody called “Gwynne”. The way he talks about her makes me think that it isn’t a pet, because of how intimate it is. I guess it could be a pet at a stretch, or even a Norn lover rather than a Human, but its the closest to a relationship with a non-Charr and a Charr ive been able to find.

Also, dating a Charr isn’t “bestiality”. They are anthropomorphs (anthros/furries), therefore not baseline animals. For anyone not clued-in, explicit material of such characters is not illegal. Its not on the same legal plain as bestiality in any way, shape or form. (Talking from my experience with the UK’s legality.)

Also, bestiality might be completely legal and morally acceptable in Tyria for all we know. The topic has never been discussed. (and hopefully it won’t ever be discussed.)

Concerning how approved of homosexuality is within the Charr’s legions, its not really covered with the exception of Fronis Darkstone and her deceased mate, but the fact their relationship existed, shows that there is some level of acceptance.

My personal opinion, is that Charr will likely be expected to have cubs, to keep the numbers of troops high, but Centurions are known to have a strong dislike for wasted resources, and soldiers are seen as “resources” to the Charr, and like a war-machine, they have to be maintained. They have to eat, train and maintain themselves so they can perform best. Sex is an important part of maintaining health, and a lot of the benefits from sex is your mental health. If a male Charr for example, is sleeping with female Charr to have cubs, sure, hes maintaining the legion’s numbers, but he won’t get any mental stimulation out of it if hes a homosexual, therefore im more than sure his Legionnaire/Centurion won’t mind him sleeping with another male if it keeps him happy and healthy. and besides the health/mental benefits, a gay man myself, i’d be more than a little bit distressed if I was being forced to sleep with only women, and it’d more than likely take it’s toll. -shivers-

In short, being a utilitarian, military-based society isn’t all about keeping a high troop count. Meaningful sex is a necessary part of keeping your troops in good shape.

File attached is the dialogue regarding the Charr worker and Gwynne that I mentioned earlier. Once again, this isn’t concrete proof for Human on Charr relationships, since its only an implication as best, but who knows. It might be a subtle lore nugget that was hidden in LA at the time.

On an unrelated note, I’d be totally cool with a Charr relationship in GW2 if Anet wanted to do it. They are essentially just humans with fur and tails. Rox and Braham maybe? Rytlock and Logan?

Living Story Season 3 predictions

Argon.1563

What’s inside the egg? Well, considering its an egg spawned by a dragon, its probably a dr- Its Kormir.

Impact of Mordremoth’s death? Absolutely nothing, because Zhaitan’s death caused a whole lot of nothing. Although it could be seen that Zhaitan’s death meant enough magic was sloshing around inside the Leylines to wake him up using Scarlet. Steve might have some more relevance since theres a lot of leylines in Mordremoth’s Lair, and it’s right by the coast. He might come inland to absorb some of it.

What will Taimi discover? Well, considering the Rata Novans spent their life figuring out “Elder Dragons have weaknesses”, probably not a lot. If anything, I feel like it’ll just provoke a lot of deus ex machina. When ever a mild problem crops up: “Oh! The Rata Novan files told me how to solve this problem!”

Zojja and Logan: There will probably be a story step in LS3 that is dependant on our choice at the end of HoT. One of them will probably get sick, or become an ally for LS3 while the other leaves to rest up, only to turn up again later on.

Canach: At the very end of HoT, he says he wants to go home and request Anise to grant him freedom. They wouldn’t put something like that in the game only for Anise to say “lolno, m8”

Rytlock: A lot of Charr will probably have problems with the fact he uses magic, not that anyone will have anyone to say about it, since he’s a Tribune, and a very dangerous one at that. Smodur definitely won’t care either, since he’s the most chilled personality in all of GuildWars history. Some of the lady-Charr might try to go after Rytlock after finding out hes into blindfolds though.

Overall, im looking pretty forward to LS3. The Charr are my favourite part of GuildWars as a franchise, and it gives reason for them to do something dynamic again because Rytlock’s status as a Revenant gives them a society-wide decision to make: rejection or approval of this new magic.

The biggest thing im looking forward to is the fact LS3 will be a lore bomb larger than GW2’s launch. I think ArenaNet knows not explaining Revenants and Elite Specializations will bring the wrath of the internet down on them, so im looking thoroughly forward to it all. For example, who are the Dragonhunters? Under what circumstances does Braham set them up? (Come on, its obvious Braham sets it all up.)

Im also hoping this sheds light on a few shadier parts of lore also. The Mesmer Collective in particular. Kasmeer was basically AFK’ing for the duration of HoT, so im hoping she has some relevance to the story. We also know Anise will crop up again because of Canach’s dialogue at the end of HoT.

Also, Eir’s Bow Backpack Skin. I know you have it, Braham. Gimme.

Just wanted to have racial Outfits such a legion ones, spirit ones for Norn, Gods to be human exclusive, etc. … Racial features shouldn’t be an excuse then… altho can Humans join a legion?

I’d personally like to see outfits based on the other races as well. Too many human outfits and not enough based on the others.

As for Humans or non-Charr joining Legions, its implied by Brun Ingotspitter that only Charr are permitted to be Legion members. During a conversation with Taimi during LS2, she asks if she could be an “honorary member of the Iron Legion”, and he replies with “Only if you grow an extra pair of ears.”. Brun doesn’t seem very sarcastic or jokey, in fact I think he comes off as quite abrasive and cynical, so hes probably being serious.

However, there are a few instances of Legion Charr taking on non-Charr apprentices to study under them. Taimi’s apprenticeship to Brun namely, and Donal Regland, who is a Human apprentice welder in the Black Citadel. (Although the race of Donal’s teacher is never mentioned, its pretty safe to assume its a Charr.)

The Flame Legion’s Shaman Caste originally persuaded the Charr to worship the Titans so they could gain influence and power over the other 3 High Legions, and it worked, until the events in The Ring of Fire took place in 1072AE that lead to the fall of the Titans. By which time, the Charr had figured out that the Flame Legion were lying to them. The Charr today have no gods and have become a misotheistic society. Im not sure if being religious in a Charr society is actually illegal, but it is certainly frowned upon. They believe gods are things to be hunted and killed, not worshipped.

and any race can be any profession without conflicts in lore or the nature of that race.

Raven is associated with cunning with trickery, so a Norn Mesmer makes a lot of sense. Theres actually a Hero Point Boss with a Raven Shaman, that uses Mesmeric magic in Snowden Drifts.

Asuran Warriors seem illogical, but they probably have a lot of tools to make up for their small stature like weapons and armour that generate kinetic energy. and The Peacemakers would require physically strong soldiers in the event of needing to physically restrain people.

Sylvari aren’t inherently obsessed with environmental friendliness and cultivating plants just because they are effectively plants. Sylvari Engineers are illustrated perfectly by Scarlet Briar, who loved engineering and metalwork, because she felt all the pieces of the machines were like all the pieces of an ecosystem, that work together to maintain something. In short, if Sylvari enjoy Engineering, they’re happy to pursue it. There are Sylvari though who dislike engineering, believing it to be unnatural and defiling the land. Its just an opinion to them.

Guardians come off immediately as “Holy” in the traditional D&D-style Fantasy sense because of their control over light and healing, but the profession can be universally applied to any race, even those who don’t have deity figures. ArenaNet described Guardian’s magic as being accessed through their “Faith”. This can be related to a Human’s faith in their gods, or a Charr’s faith in their Warband or Legion…just like that Charr in the image has faith in her fabulous outfit.

Mordremoth too talkative?

in Lore

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

I think the idea is that Zhaitan never really came off as a character, but rather an “entity” that operated through other characters, whereas they tried to make Mordremoth more of a real villain by giving him a voice and making him speak directly to the player character. It also makes sense because both Mordremoth and Glint have mind-themed powers, and Glint learnt to speak our languages through telepathy with Tyrians, so why wouldn’t Mordremoth have the same capability?

I like the way Zhaitan communicated, through his minions, because it made him feel like a real wartime mastermind – Felt and heard, but never seen. Which worked well since Orr was largely set up to feel like a war/battleground.

Personally, I would like to see more of the angle they took with Zhaitan, just with a better ending. Jormag currently seems like an actual character in the sense that his minions, who speak about him, the Icebrood and Sons of Svanir, make him seem like he has a personality to him because they talk about the gifts and promises of power he gives them, but I think it would be interesting to rip through this artificial “culture” he has created within his followers, only to get to the end of the final boss area find that Jormag is in fact a cold (pun intended) and soulless creature who only understands hunger and survival.

The concept of an Elder Dragon speaking only works because Mordremoth has telepathic powers to learn language with, otherwise, I wouldn’t expect the other dragons to do this, in favour of manipulating corrupting minions to speak on their behalf, like Zhaitan did, mainly as a way to throw off characters.

and the Elder Dragons have never been known to have a conflict between their minions or themselves. We don’t know if they negotiate among each other. Personally, I think Dragons avoiding each other is more of an animalistic instinct, like a cat who is about to go into another cat’s back garden, only to think “Oh no, this belongs to somebody else, im going to get wrecked if I go in there.” and avoiding it. Because there is no way the dragons have been awake all this time, and not noticed another Dragon’s territory.

So far my guess would be that no one has figured out the mystic forge recipe yet, or worse case scenario, Anet will release them through the gemstore…

Normally ArenaNet employees are happy to say if a Mystic Forge recipe exists, and just hasn’t been discovered, but in this case, its been total silence, and the skin IDs haven’t been found in the Wardrobe or datamined.

My guess is that they only made the Hammer, Axe and Mace for the trailers they appeared in, and the rest aren’t ready yet.

She did prophecized her own death but as you said, it should be “will kill her” not “killed her”.

Is it possible that The Last Forgotten deliberately said in that tense, knowing that it only had to be “incorrect” until Glint’s prophecised death, but from then on, the tablets will be “correct” to anybody reading the story after then? (Unless the people reading are a group of overly touchy video game addicts on a forum, in which case it’ll always be wrong.)

TP limit bids to 5,000

My favorite was the 60,000+ bids on silver ore, that one perplexes me.. unless I’m missing something here. Buying for 15 copper and selling for 21??

The easiest way to solve this is just whatever you buy off the TP make it account bound,

Done, no more exploiting or playing the TP to drive up prices. For those who want to buy stuff to salvage for MF, this should work out for you, it keeps the prices down. As for the TP flippers, too bad so sad.

Since we have no trading system, the only reason people should be buying things from the TP is for personal use or to send to friends as birthday gifts or things like Secret Toymaker at Christmas.

It might be better if items bought from the TP gain a unique effect that means they can be sent to other players via mail system for such events, but not put back into the TP.

They do have an economist and he says there’s no issue. You may want to take another look into why the systems are in place as they are right now.

The same economist thinks theres no issue with the fact theres several hundred gold price difference between Heavy, Medium and Light Ascended sets, despite the fact they’re the same thing mechanically.

Autoclickers are legal, supposedly as long as you actually have your finger on some kind of button.

Bind your scroll-wheel to left click, or just rebind a button to left click rapidly when held down.

The “consume all” on drinks is so pointless, because the presents don’t have “consume all” as an option. Everybody is still going to get arthritis and carpel tunnel.

Canach as pact leader sounds good. There’s a distinct lack of large explosions in this game. Giving the local eco-terrorist pyromanic mastermind total control of the largest military force in Tyrian history may remedy this.

What PvE roles can each class fill ?

in Players Helping Players

Argon.1563

Any of them can do anything on a fundamental level, and everybody will have different opinions on what is the “best” at each role, for example, I have seen Warriors be healers, but I personally think Druid or Tempest makes the best healer, but other people might argue that Revenants are the best healers, and it all comes down to the situation it’s being applied to.

The following are my personal views that I would use my characters for. If somebody can get their Elementalist to tank in a raid or something, power to them, but this is just what I use mine for, or would try to use them for.

Warrior – Conditions
Guardian – Direct damage, Boon distribution or Conditions
Revenant – Any role
Ranger – Direct damage, Conditions or Healer (with Druid spec)
Thief – Group support (stealth) Condition damage, Direct damage or Tanking (with Daredevil spec)
Engineer – Any role (except tanking)
Elementalist – Any role (except tanking)
Necromancer – Direct damage, condition damage or tanking.
Mesmer – Direct damage, group support (portals, reflection) or tanking (with Chronomancer spec)

As for the ranges of those professions, if you want to be ranged or not depends on the situation and build you’re using. No profession is exclusively ranged or melee. All professions have both a ranged and a melee weapon for direct damage and conditions.

Eew, thats a pretty catastrophic oversight.

Whats worse, is that she had already changed her name to Glint by the time she died, yet the tablet refers to her as Glaust, and all the Exalted refer to her as Glint as well.

Somebody seriously out-of-touch wrote this.

Need help finding way to Magus Falls.

Argon.1563

“Magus Falls” is a region of the world, similar to Kryta, Ascalon, The Shiverpeaks, etc.

The areas that fall under the Magus Falls region are Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand.

You can get there by going west from Brisban Wildlands through The Silverwastes and into Verdant Brink. Keep note that you require the Heart of Thorns expansion pack to enter Magus Falls.

Or new people could just look at the stamp that says “Posted 3 years ago”, and think “Oh dear, thats terribly old, I should find one thats more in-date. Or better yet, I should be innovative and try to make my own build, rather than taking somebody else’s.”

Option to remove the Disco Disc

in Revenant

Argon.1563

No, no. My opinion is more important than everybody else’s and must be forced on everyone else so they recognize that. There shall be no “option” of which you speak. The disk shall be removed.

But seriously, I need an option to remove this disk. I avoid using Glint because of how ugly it is. If the ground you’re stood on isn’t perfectly flat, it starts stretching and bugging out, and is just generally unpleasant, and its shinier than my character’s model, which means it’s detracting from my character, the main attraction.

Krytan ruling system.

in Lore

Posted by: Argon.1563

Argon.1563

Fundamentally, its a slightly adapted version of the Feudal System. Its quite similar to a lot of European ruling systems in the sense that they have a parliament. and like any European-style government, it is a total mess.

There is a body called the Krytan Ministry (basically, a parliament) which designs laws, and those get put forward to the Queen, then she approves or rejects them. From what I understand of it, only people who own land are permitted to become Ministers. Like any parliament, a lot of shady activities go on. Attempts to discredit each other, “conspiracies”, etc.

There aren’t as such “knights” in Krytan society, but they do have various armies which protect certain parts of society.
Seraph – Akin to a police force or standard army. Lead by Captains, which each captain overseeing operations in a particular part of Kryta.
Ministry Guard – Basically Ministry member’s personal bodyguards. They hold more power than Seraph, but only when Ministry members are involved.
Shining Blade – The Queen’s personal elite guard.

Then theres just general citizens and peasants, etc. Merchants, traders, craftsmen, etc.

In-between the Queen and the Ministry it could be seen that theres an extra “rank” occupied by Lord Beetlestone, the current head of the Krytan Ministry, who liaises with the Queen regarding Ministry matters.

If there had to be a specific hierarchy, it would probably be
Queen → Legate Minister → Ministry → Nobles → Ministry Guard → Seraph → Peasants.

I might be missing a few bits and pieces. Theres a lot of “one-off” roles in Kryta, like the Commander of Divinity’s Reach, who is the head of the Ministry Guard, and the Master Exemplar, who is the head of the Shining Blade.

lore question

Argon.1563

After The Searing in 1070AE, the Charr marched on Orr after taking back Ascalon. In 1071AE, Vizier Khilbron used a magical scroll to sink Orr below the ocean, to protect Arah from being captured, but he killed everybody in the process. This event was dubbed “The Cataclysm”.

It sat at the bottom of the sea for a bit over 100 years when Zhaitan woke up in 1219AE (he was asleep underneath Orr the whole time.) and rose it back up to the surface.

So no, Orr wasn’t destroyed by a Searing, but The Charr may have been planning to perform one before The Cataclysm beat them to it, which would explain why there is a sunken Searing Cauldron in The Straits of Devastation, and how Zhaitan spontaneously acquired one.

Dragon Stand meta D/C beyond acceptable

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Argon.1563

Its not really a fault of the expansion. I dealt with it for years even before HoT came out. Its just a fault of GW2’s fundamental coding. The game is built using the GW1 engine, which was made during a time when 32-bit systems were prevalent.

Now 64-bit systems are a thing, GW2 was operating horribly on modern PCs until the 64-bit version of the game came out because the 32-bit can’t quite candle the RAM and CPU demands, causing you to “disconnect”. Why it wasn’t 64-bit to begin with, ill never know.

and the forum censors ridiculous things. You’d think the filter was made by a first-time mother.
