From what I understood, the utility skills are bound to the legend you pick.
So lets say you swap from Great Dwarf to Unyielding, your skills 6~9 + elite will change, but the weapons will remain the same.
Imagine the Revenant’ legends as the opposite of Ele’s attunements, instead of changing your weapon skills you change your utilities.
no, it works like this (right now, apparently it’s still subject to change):
“dwarf stance” will have dwarf utilities, and “demon stance” will have a whole other set of completely different demon utilities.
they’re not like glyphs, that change property based on what you’re attuned to.
Neither of you are right. We have only been told it changes out 6-0 skills, and nothing more. We haven’t been told they function like glyphs, we haven’t been told they change completely. Roy even said its not something they’ve decided on yet. Stop filling the forums with conjecture, and wait until tonight’s stream, when we get some actual information.
Or will there be racial-specific heroes to call on? That’d be a nifty lore-booster.
Most likely not. I can’t find the quote, but at one point, ArenaNet said they don’t want to focus on race-only gameplay mechanics, because one will always come out as being the “best”, and everybody will feel obligated to play that race. Its like how the Charr were in the beta tests. Everybody who played PVE/WvW was a Charr, because their Artillery Barrage was easily the most powerful skill in the game, until it got nerfed.
I would like to see characters that are of the 5 playable races as legends, but make them available to everybody, otherwise it will just start a race meta.
I agree. Colin mentioned that they will be reworking the trait system in HoT, but he didn’t give details.
I think the traits need to be much, much cheaper, or the tasks need to be toned down a bit. I remember the first adept trait I saw when making an NPE character was “Complete the Obsidian Sanctum.” I logged out of that character and haven’t logged in since. I didn’t complete the Obsidian Sanctum on my main until after I was 80, because I couldn’t defend myself from WvW players before then. How it that being friendly to new players, asking them to battle hardened veteran WvW players while trying to engage in a jumping puzzle?
I never liked the concept of collecting/paying for my traits/perks/skills in games, it just discourages experimentation as im levelling up, because in some instances, I couldn’t afford a trait, or couldn’t do the task to unlock it, due to it being too difficult, or too high of level.
I actually know a new player who joined after NPE, and he says it makes the game too hard, because as a new player, he can’t afford to buy the traits, and the tasks are too difficult, because the trait’s level (adept, master, grandmaster), isn’t reflected in the location where you need to get it. (Example, adept traits requiring content that is 10 or 20 levels above the unlock level for traits (level 30)), or the traits are hidden in content that is too complex for a new player to do or understand (Example, hiding a trait in the Obsidian Sanctum, which is often regarded as the hardest JP in the game. Or hunting down Rhendak The Crazed, who a new player definitely couldn’t find easily.)
Even if they don’t totally redesign the system, it at least needs toning down slightly. The prices of traits need reducing by a significant amount, and the tasks need to be relevant to the level you get the traits at, rather hiding them in high level zones.
It’ll probably function like all other classes. Its a profession, not a special snowflake.
When you swap your ranger’s pet, do you have 2 sets of gear for each pet? No. You pick 2 pets that suit your build/armour. Pick 2 legends to suit your build/armour on your Revenant.
Revenant legendary stances changing armor to?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Argon.1563
I think its just an overlay applied over the armour. Im assuming that Revenant is just wearing the dubbed “Rytlock armour” all the other Revenants in the preview are seen wearing.
Are you mis-interpreting the Charr’s horns as a helmet?
-Twilight, Sunrise and Eternity are ugly and tacky, they are also paper textures, therefore not worth a single copper to me.
-I refuse to take berserkers in my team. I use soldiers, and I do more DPS than berserkers, because I don’t die. Dead people do less DPS than living ones.
-Condi warrior is better than direct damage warrior.
-Engineer is boring, and it’s lack of continuity in it’s theme annoys me.
-Why is all heavy armour platemail? Give me something lighter looking.
-I hate Caithe, I hope she dies brutally during Heart of Thorns.
-I smiled when the pact fleet got shot down.
-I want Braham and Rox to be the first interracial relationship in GW2
-Humans have no reason to exist, they need to go extinct already. They’re a dying race.
-The LS2 achievements were too difficult (The hardest one took 6 HOURS to do.)
-Necromancer is very good in PVE, you just can’t play it for kitten.
-Wallet warrior and proud. My real life time is worth more than my money.
-Mawdrey II is too expensive and time consuming to get. It should be a basic tool.
-Im glad Revenant doesn’t get unique storylines. I don’t want it to be the special snowflake profession.
-Players with non lore-friendly names annoy me.
-Im glad the Zephyrites got shot down and died horribly. I never liked them.
-WvW is really boring. EotM is better.
-I will never again do Fractals. I hate it with every fibre of my being.
-I don’t mind Charr clipping. In some particular gear, its better than non-clipping.
-I laughed when I saw Belinda’s corpse.
-The POI livestream makes me crindge sometimes, because most of the devs have horrible social skills and can’t talk on camera. “Whats that, Mr. Dev? You think your new update will succeed? I would believe you if your voice wasn’t quivering.” Rubi is ok though, shes a boss.

A couple of red posts in this thread on the issue
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Please-allow-us-to-skip-cut-scenes/first
I see. They could at least allow us to skip stuff that doesn’t have background activities going on. Such as the ones in “Meeting The Asura”, where all the NPCs are stationary all the time.
Ive been trying to get my stealth challenge achievement for the “Meeting The Asura” story mission.
It takes me 4 minutes to reach the boss.
I spend another 4 minutes watching cutscenes.
Why can I not skip these? It makes my life so much harder, because ive failed this achievement so many times, its doubled the time ive had to spend.
Caithe isn’t that special, she doesn’t warrant unskippable cutscenes. Now her purpose as plot device with the whole Wynne storyline is done, just kill her already.
Anybody else find this post super rude?
Ya. I think the same also.
It bugs me thats hes willing to knock the lore of the Revenant, when ArenaNet hasn’t given us any lore for it yet, have told us when they will give us lore, and the fact hes replacing the Revenant (which is based off real lore) with random lore that hes just made up.
Im not going to post mine, because it’ll get stolen, she’ll be a female Charr though. c:
After the blog post has revealed the Revenant’s colours as white and red, I think ill make her gear white, and her fur either white or a light grey.
If you have an empty character slot you can make a generic character and give it the name you want to use for your revenant .
Come HOT release day , you can delete that character and make your revenant with that name as they are "saved " to your account for 24 hours .
I know, but I don’t want to buy a new character slot to do that, because if I buy a new slot, and ArenaNet gives us one for free, ill feel a bit silly having wasted the gems.
There are holes in the lore, because ArenaNet hasn’t taken the liberty of explaining the lore to us, and they will explain it to us, on Friday, during the livestream.
and nobody cares about the personal story. Its a botched, broken part of the game, and even ArenaNet have admitted that, messing it up a bit more doesn’t hurt. No NPCs in the entire personal story even refer to the player’s profession, therefore there is no plot hole or conflict in the storyline.
If you have an issue with playing the personal story on your Revenant, ignore it, don’t do it, or roleplay it out, so your character never takes part in the personal story. Write your own character backstory if you don’t like ArenaNet’s.

Take in mind the only information we were given today was wrote by ArenaNet, and Roy. They’re going to make the Revenant sound perfect, because its a selling point for a lot of people to buy HoT.
If in the blog post, they said “Well, these professions can counter the Revenant, and its kinda squishy, and it can’t apply the following conditions…” and generally listed out it’s flaws, people wouldn’t be interested in it.
It won’t be overpowered, because all professions have downfalls and weaknesses, and when it comes out, those will become apparent. Unitl then, ArenaNet only wants us to see it as perfect and excellent.

Looks like that only the utility skills consume the energy bar, so those won’t have cooldowns. There weapons won’t consume energy so we’ll have cooldowns there.
EDIT: Pretty much the opposite of thieve.
There is a mix of recharge and energy/upkeep costs for the Revenant skills. Every skill doesn’t necessarily have recharge though.
Makes sense. I had a feeling it would be something like that. Revenant feels like its taken a little bit from lots of the professions.
It’s weapons sound like Mesmer.
It’s got a system akin to Thief’s Initiative
Ranger’s pets in the form of “legends”
Considering Revenants have an energy bar (seen in today’s blog post), similar to the Thief, does this mean Revenant will have no recharge time also like the Thief?
I can’t imagine them having both an energy bar/initiative cost for skills, AND a recharge time, that would put them at a massive disadvantage to other professions.
Today, I got my first ascended armour box as a drop, the Sentinel stat one, so I thought “Which one of my characters do I give this to? Who is squishy to the point where they need sentinel stats?”
Then I thought Elementalist could use it, because its super squishy, and the extra defence is always nice, so then I thought, maybe I should just make the rest of the sentinel stat armour to go with it, and use Berserker weapons and trinkets. I would also like to give it to Elementalist because its cloth armour, and it avoids me collecting another few thousand silk to make it myself.
Opinions? Has anybody ever done sentinel/berserker hybrid on Elementalist?
I have an Alienware 14, which is now discontinued, you can’t buy it directly from Alienware any more, but it can run GW2 on maximum settings. Im not sure if an Alienware 13 will though, because the specs are a bit below the 14 depending on which model of the 13 you get, but you’ll definitely get it pretty high.
Considering your going to university though, I would suggest buying either an external hard drive or a 2nd, bad laptop for doing your studies with, because who wants to clog their gaming rig with a load of school work?
The whole idea of GW2 is that the game begins at level 80.
For a lot of people, their 1-80 levelling period is time to learn that profession, so then they can do actual content, knowing what they’re doing, but if they have to start over and learn something new at level 40, then they’re going to have 50% less experience using their profession by the time they’re 80.
Im consistently getting an error code that is unlisted on the “Common Error Codes” page in the support section, can somebody help me identify what it is?
Code=7:11:3:191:101
Notice how “191” is in bold, because although there is a similar code on the common errors page, the 191 variant is not listed.
Shortly after that error code, another appears.
Code=58:11:5:535:101
There is an error code 58 listed on the page also, but not this particular one.
At the PAX South announcement for Heart of Thorns, Mike O’Brien promised us that the maximum level cap will never increase, and there will never be another gear tier added.
Saying there will never be another gear tier prevents the crafting from going up any higher, because there needs to be a new tier to craft if they want to put it up. So no, I think our wallets are safe.
My poor wallet…Its still damaged after 500 crafting, forget 600.
Only issue with GW2nodes, is that people don’t update it, and more often than not, its borderline empty. I personally have never seen a T6 node listed on there, only the odd Mithril or Elder Wood node.
Ive decided to start farming T6 nodes again because my reserves are getting a bit low, and considering the Megaserver system has wrecked node mapping websites, is there any real way to collect T6 nodes efficiently, or do I have to just wander round aimlessly hoping I come across them?
I think skins are less profitable than a boxed expansion at £30-£50 per sale, so there better be some skins with Heart of Thorns, or im going to be a bit frustrated. Im pretty sure they will introduce more skins, just because of specializations, so they will want to make skins for weapons to suit the professions they’re going to. For example, theres a distinct lack of Necromancer-ish greatswords in the game, and in turn, armour skins to match those new weapons.
Im actually holding off on giving a few of my characters skins for their level 80 gear, because im waiting to see what HoT holds for us.
If ArenaNet wants to put in new dungeons, they need to look at the problems in current dungeons, and iron them out of the new ones.
STACKING – Stacking just ruins the game and makes it boring. I want to actually fight a monster, not feel obligated to stand in a corner to avoid getting kicked from my own party. Maybe new monsters have a buff that increases their damage when they’re attacking a player that is close proximity to another player.
BERSERKER – ArenaNet needs to introduce monsters that are powerful enough to kill people in Berserker with ease, so people are forced to use other armour sets.
That would still present the issue that new people join the game later on.
It would make very little sense to play the story about Mordremoths awakening and all the terror we hear about around the world with vines and deadly creatures spreading around killing everything in their path, without those things actually happening, simply due to someone starting playing later.
That is a bit of the issue with open world games. Which crowd should they cater to?
I suppose they could confine the destroyed parts to story instances, so if I were to replay LS2 for example, it would still be all thorny, but if I were to leave that instance, the world would reflect the current state, so after Mordremoth is dead, it would be “normal”.
But then that arises the issue of things like the Silverwastes events, which I guess could only be replaced by something else with similar mechanics. Maybe the bandits try to re-take the area or something, and all the Mordrem are replaced with bandits.
I never knew any of this was going on in London. Tickets are really cheap as well, I might see if I can grab a few people and run down for that Heart of Thorns demo.
Currently guildless, because every time I join a guild, they break up soon after, so I stopped seeing the point in joining guilds after about 2 years of this consistently happening.
For example, as of current, we’re all aware Orr is in a bit of a time warp, because Zhaitan is dead, and according to a few NPCs, the Risen are on the decline, and Orr is being slowly cleansed, but this isn’t represented in Orr at all, in-fact, the only progression Orr has had post-PS is the Tequatl Rising patch.
After Mordremoth is dead, will the Silverwastes still be inhabited by Mordrem? Will vines still be ripping up Fort Salma, Concordia and The Village of Scalecatch? Because I really, really don’t want to see any more areas “frozen in time” as seen in the personal story.
If the effected parts of the world I mentioned above froze in time post-Mordremoth story arc, I feel it would be more detrimental than Orr freezing, because Orr is an isolated area, and I don’t have to care about it, but if Mordremoth’s influence is still present after hes dead, it’ll be more of an immersion break, when im walking through Kessex, Timberline or Iron Marches to see a load of vines, left behind by a dragon I beat up 24 months+ ago. Mordremoth’s influence has spread all over the world.
In short, what steps is ArenaNet taking to ensure we don’t get Orr 2.0?
The parts of the world that are “frozen in time” are half-justified in a way, for example, Orr still being filled with Risen is justified because at one point, Trehearne says it will still take time to clear out the remaining Risen, implying dragon minions remain after the dragon’s death, and it was sort of progressed by the Tequatl Rising patch, where Tequatl’s power inexplicably grew.
In a few years though, I would like Orr to progress to a stage where its more “cleansed” as such, along with other remaining dragon areas.
and it doesn’t matter if your a Revenant doing the personal story, no NPCs ever discuss your profession with you in the personal story. Just roleplay it off like it never happened if it bugs you that much.
It will be a Buy-To-Play boxed expansion, similar to the GW1 expansions. No price or release date has been given as of yet, but im estimating somewhere in the region of £20-£30
Ah, I see what you mean now.
I just don’t think Revenants should be different from other professions, I don’t think they should be special in any way to the point where they get their own storylines. I think it should just be another profession people can play, and if they want to roleplay their own storyline towards how they became a Revenant, let them.
Generally when lore elements and mechanical elements begin to mix, it doesn’t work, so just keep them separate. They don’t need to mix either. Why does a lore event need a mechanical explanation for it?
Revenant will be available like any other character via character creation, because its a mechanical element of the game, but if you want, write your own lore for your character entailing how they weren’t a Revenant all of their life, and only acquired it via some kind of event.
Personally, I would rather only have to pay for a character slot, rather than a slot AND a stone for a profession I should be handed for free, considering im going to have to buy Heart of Thorns.
(and it would still interfere with the personal story, hence why theres no race change option, as there are a few profession specific things, such as your character biography during character creation, and profession specific rewards in story quests.)
(edited by Argon.1563)
Why is the tag for this thread “[Suggestion]” It should be “[DEMAND]”
Stop being so polite, this is something that NEEDS to be fixed.
Personally, I like to hybridize my gear. I like to keep my armour on a defensive stat combination (Soldiers for example), while making the weapons and trinkets more offensive based. I never like to go full berserker, I find it pointless. Sure, I can dodge, but I only have 2 dodges, and if a boss monster decides to attack a 3rd time, I can’t dodge it, then I die, and dead people do less damage than people who aren’t wearing full berserker.
We don’t actually know yet. They supplied free character slots in GW1, but obviously they could change it.
Keep the money hanging around for gems, and if we don’t get a character slot, buy one, and if we get one free, get the gems anyway, and buy a makeover kit to make your new Revenant look pretty.
Although ive never tried it myself, im assuming its the Minion, because with other summoned allies with combo finishers, ive observed the effect being applied to themself. (Such as Phantasms on Mesmer doing Leaps to get Auras.)
My only real request is a dagger with a physical blade. Incinerator was brilliant, but it always bugged me because it only suits Elementalist, due to its flame blade.
and please. no joke weapons.
My only real request is a dagger with a physical blade. While I loved Incinerator to death, it always bugged me because it never suited any other dagger users besides Elementalist, and even then, it only suits it 25% of the time, when its in Fire attunement.
and no joke weapons. All the joke weapons are terrible, and ill never make them.
ArenaNet usually puts their soundtracks on their Soundcloud page, or somebody magically gets a hold of them and puts them on youtube, so im assuming the HoT soundtrack will be no different.
Easy if you have thousands upon thousands of gold to just throw around freely. Not everybody has the time to spend hundreds of hours farming for gold and/or cash for a legendary.
The majority of players find precursors in particular to be the nail in the coffin in getting their legendary, and ArenaNet is responding to that.
At one point, David said “We wanted to give gliders a sense of freedom.”
hypocrite
If its meant to feel free, then why give it an endurance bar? The character shown was supposedly decked out with Masteries to make the endurance bar longer, and it still felt so restrictive. Even with the Masteries, she was barely scraping jumps by the skin of her teeth, thats not freedom, thats just a good way to give someone a nervous twitch.
That spoon collection has actually ruined a large portion of my experience. Im sick to death of it, I wish it was never put in.
The bone spoon is of exotic quality, therefore it dilutes the drop table for other exotics from Tequatl. Prior to the spoon’s release, I would get an exotic every 2-3 runs of Tequatl. Since the spoon released, I have not received an exotic, even a Rune of The Sunless.
The Siege Master’s spoon makes me rue every day of my life every time I go to my bank and see it, because it is bugged. I have the god-infernal spoon, but for some reason, it is not unlocking in the collection.
I have 8 characters. 8 of those characters are Charr. The Revenant will be my 9th Charr character.
The clipping isn’t as bad as people say it is, for real. The only thing that really makes me want to flip a table when it comes to Charr, is shoulder pieces that don’t connect, and decide they want to float, but other than that, nothing bothers me.
I prefer my tail to clip through armour, rather than having a “Tail hole”, because of how the Charr’s tail is animated. Because it’s animation is a bit sporadic, it just seems to glide effortlessly when put with “clipping” armour, but with a properly cut hole for the tail, they generally have a plate above, to cover the hole slightly, but this plate tends to jerk round a bit, because the animation is sporadic, and it looks really awkward.
Helmets are bad on all races. Hide the lot of them. Its not an issue.
For me, the Charr are just a really good lore experience, with great visuals, despite being “Buggy” or bad, according to a lot of players. Clipping never bothered me, I don’t notice it. If you have a spare character slot, make a Charr, preview a load of stuff, if you like it, keep, if you don’t, make something else.~
I don’t really mind, on the condition that I, the player character, am allowed to personally stab Mordremoth to death, rather than having to use an underpowered cannon, to press 1, over, and over, for a total of 15 minutes straight in order to kill it.
In the most recent POI Twitch stream, in the background theres a Sylvari Revenant (It was identified as a Revenant because it used the same skill Rytlock used in the trailer), and it was holding a sword, and an offhand dagger.
Offhand dagger confirmed.
As for my own speculation, I think it will get Sword, Pistol and possibly Axe for the mainhands, and Dagger, Sword and Pistol for the offhands. Shortbow and Staff for two-handed weapons.
Because this game whats referred to as a “Megaserver”, all the players from all the servers get loaded in together in maps, so it doesn’t matter what server you go for. The only thing effected by your server choice, like Nova said, is WvW.
Guesting however does increase your chance of getting in with people on that specific server, which is good if you’re looking for RP, or specific PVE activities.
RP servers are Piken Square(EU) and Tarnished Coast(NA)
Personally, I think pistols are more likely, as Rytlock has been caught using a pistol on occasion, or I think daggers could be a candidate. I don’t really feel any of the other weapons seem to fit with Warrior.
That particular glider they keep showing is kinda nasty in terms of both colour and design. Will there be other skins we can get?
I would quite like it if there were gliders styled after particular races or professions, for example, a Mesmer themed one, that looks like a big pair of purple butterfly wings we see on the butterflies released when using their magic, or a set of robotic wings for Engineer, or for racial ones, Raven wings for Norn, metallic ones for Charr.
Yes? No? If yes, what ideas for glider skins do you have?
The whole system is strange.
If an Item is listed as selling for 10 silver on the TP, and the current buy order is 5 silver, I don’t understand how that works.
Surely, if somebody is selling an item for 10 silver, they want their 10 silver, not my offer of 5 silver via buy order, therefore the trade never happens, but somehow people get buy orders to work?
Can somebody explain this to me?
