synaptic overload won’t work with bomb kit because the bomb kit has no knockbacks
Don’t forget about Big Ol’ Bomb.
big ole bomb is a blowout, not a knockback.
if you’re using flamethrower as a secondary kit, you shouldn’t advertise the build as a flamethrower build.
as for the build itself, you have no vigor. you NEED vigor or an energy sigil to make up for it or you will be fragile regardless of how much armor and health you have. dodging is everything in this game especially in pvp.
you have no stunbreakers, and no stabilized armor or protection injection to make up for it. hambows are prevalent and this build is already weak to them without any poison or sustain for your tankiness, plus they can be immune to your many blinds and have lots of stability to deal with your cc. this makes it doubly worse.
juggernaut shouldn’t be used if ft is your secondary kit. you swap to it, get your skills off, then swap out. there’s no time to stay in the kit to stack might.
i’d swap out incendiary powder for enhance perforamnce. you’re not building for condi, and with ft and bomb kits you already have permanent burning on the point.
bomb kit without forceful explosives is not a wise decision.
even hgh has terrible condi clear. idk why people think hgh is the ultimate condi clear build.
first of all you should have 6 elixirs: h, b, and s and their toss variants. each use only clears one condi… not really that good.
second, using elxir or toss elixir s to condi clear or stack might is a huge mistake. condi clear and might stackign is just an added bonus for those defensive cooldowns.
that leaves elixir b and h except you need to save toss elixir b for stability and elixir h is your heal. that really only leaves elixir b and toss elixir h as your reliable condition removals. and sometimes you can’t even rely on elixir b because it’s your only mobility skill and you used it to get to the point in time. luckily it has a short cooldown.
even with an hgh build you won’t beat a condi necro because they actually have good condi clear.
all of this doesn’t even take into the count the huge survivability hit you take traiting elixirs over other traits in one of the most powerful defensive trees in the game, and having elixirs as your utilities instead of more useful things like tool kit or elixir gun or whatever.
the engineer has the least amount of condition clear out every class in the game but we’re really strong in other areas both offensively and defensively so we make up for it. just don’t 1v1 any necros and you’ll win mostly every time.
as for the topic, 30 into alchemy for backpack regen. or use an energy sigil and adventurer runes and take prot injection, backpack regen, and auromated response in alchemy.
the bomb/ft nodefighter build uses ft. as for using it as your only or primary kit, you’re just gimping yourself.
any server with Vee Wee is the frandliest server.
rifle hgh works just as well as condi hgh but overall hgh builds have phased out of the tanky meta because they have low survivability.
the standard condi build could run tool kit instead of bomb kit for defense and set ups.

or you could try this triple kit build. i only mention it because the person that i saw using it was high on the soloq leaderboards and he kicked my kitten 1v1. i’m not too sure what his traits were but i can make a decent guess.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vcAQFAUlUUpdr1axELseRiMqQnBqQdJSR+pffe8WPIEC-TkAg0CnIyRljLHTOycs5MEB
sorry turret builds do not work. hopefully they won’t work for a while. the game doesn’t need any more ai oriented builds.
if you want to be viable, you need to run kits. triple gadgets won’t work. you can use chaith’s power rifle build. it focuses on heavy lockdown and burst. though if you wanted to not be so trolly and win a match against good people, elixir s would be better than slick shoes.

if you really want to be hybrid i’d recommend rampager or celestial over carrion. you don’t need any defensive stats in pve.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toss_Elixir_R
or maybe there was an elite ranger spirit nearby.
or they rallied off of someone who died far away.
i believe this build is along the lines of what you want
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vcEQFAUlUUpkrtbxELseNiMSRnJaiUkf63nHv1DChA-zUCBYjAkIAZmKrJqCiVhFRjVVTQWtATVKp+EKrkCAmhRA-w
-power dmage comes from power, crit damage, and crit chance. with celestial you get those stats as well as defensive stats that you need to survive without losing a huge chunk of damage from rabid gear.
-tool kit sets up kills and blocks attacks. it’s amazing and you need cooldown reduction on its abilities
-you need permanent swiftness for wvwvw. you need it to escape. you need it to chase. and you need to dodge to survive any kind of onslaught. without vigor or an energy sigil you will die. every time.
-this build focuses on battle sigil, enhance performance, and noble runes to really stack might. you get a LOT of might from this combo. yuo get hgh caliber might stacking without wasting trait points to get hgh. this really improves your hybrid-ish damage though you are more power oriented.
-healing turret is superior to med kit in almost all scenarios.
-if you don’t want to craft celestial gear, then knights is a suitable replacement.
confusion is a worthless condition in pve.
then zerker. i believe your healing bombs heal for 300 at 1300 healing power. the 150 heal increase will mean nothing when things hit you for 10000.
cleric. you’re not gonna kill anything with that build. might as well go ful defense.
grenade kit. occasionally swap to harpoon gun for 2 4 and 5. i’ve hit for 30k with scatter mines.
don’t listen to anything certain moronic pve players tell you. you’ll end up creating a thread like one of these that have been debunked a thousand times before. engineers are great in pve. anyone who doesn’t think so can stick to their heavies only zerk only 8k AP+ groups. i’ve joined a few of those myself on my guardian and they are usually godawful.

please no more mindless auto attack zerg content. put individual skill back into the game.
people would kill to have that bug
scavenging will give you the most amount of condi damage and the lifesteal it provides can help you survive. undead gives the 2nd most amount of condi damage and it’s 6 silver for a full set but it doesn’t have any other effects. noble runes rae good for might stacking. and then there’s my personal favorite, adventurer runes, which i think are the best runes in the game.
1s per hit with 10 hits = 10 second burning every 2.25 seconds at 0 condition duration with no cooldown. seems op
this is the wvwvw build i used to use with massive success. though i used it for solo roaming, it will work for larger numbers.
Run dungeons – for what purpose?
Farm gold – for what purpose?
Champ trains – lol
WvW – for what purpose?
PvP – for what purpose?
how about for fun? yes i know a real phenomenon playing a game to have fun.
ctf with immob stacking? no thanks.
ps just discovered i can bullet
in other words having said dps is impossible to attain without asistance keeping 25 might up
how is it overpowered then
even with 25 might stacks i was only to achieve half the dps that he said he could achieve and i was wearing better gear. somewhere along the line, math was off.
(edited by ArrDee.2573)
i read somewhere that someone said that they read somewhere that anet said smoke vent is a placeholder until they come up with something better. idk how reliable that is. i remember you could pull and burn with it. combined with permanent stability from old juggernaut it was lols.
30/30/0/0/10 full zerk with strength runes. rifle with strength sigil. 25 stacks of might, no discipline or food buffs. i was hitting roughly 3900 with my grenade auto and 6900 with shrapnel grenade. i was averaging around 700 damage in bleeds and 100 damage in poisons so if you wanna calculate this over a 5 second period then:
3900 × 4 auto attack + 6900 shrapnel grenade + 3500 bleeds + 500 poison = 26500. 26500/5seconds = 5300 dps. this calculation is assuming you crit for every single attack. i seriously doubt with food and discipline that this number will double.
this was tested on mark t-bearce golem boss in coe. and yes the protection was off though i was paying so much attention to numbers that i wasn’t paying attention to retal. i gave my life for this test.
edit: i just want to point out that my 0/30/0/25/15 FT build with the same gear and under the same conditions plus discipline does this over 5 seconds:
7000 auto damage x 2 flame jets every 5 seconds + 10000 flame blast + 2500 burns + 2000 bleeds = 28500. 28500/5 = 5700 dps. everybody hates on ft but it does just about the same as zerk grenades except a. it looks cooler b. don’t have to mash 1 and c. i get to see big numbers instead of a lot of little 1-2k damage blips.
(edited by ArrDee.2573)
it really depends on the other team. backpack regen is amazing for your sustain but protection injection can save you against a warrior. that’s why i use both and take energy sigil on top of my adventurer runes to compensate for the vigor loss.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqelIqyX3zSiF1LJyoCdGoC5lIF5nl95hcxWQIA-ToAAzCpI+S9l7LzXyvsfNEZuA
is the standard condi meta. from there you can customize it to your playstyle. for example i run adventurer runes over nightmare.
30/30/0/0/10 is extremely fragile for not enough reward.
(edited by ArrDee.2573)
if your goal is to stack might and fury every time it’s up, use med kit. if you want a better heal overall, use healing turret.
Can anyone explain how the runes are supposed to work on a healing turret?
Does it apply both when you drop the turret and when you use the 6 button healing spray skill?
yes. it only works for the overcharge if you have the turret out and the rune cd is up.
(edited by ArrDee.2573)
I’d like to use it in PvE but explosives and elixier gun are just way better in general. Any situations when I could make use of it?
tool kit is excellent for lupicus. you can block all of his attacks. i’ve swapped to it to pull individual ascalonians in the charr fractal because the npcs died and didn’t res when we wiped. take it if you need to block basically. it’s pretty situational in pve but amazing in pvp.
also if you are running static discharge, you should be running tool kit 100% of the time regardless of pve/pvp.
gw2stuff.com
all of those events give dragonite ore.
maybe try this?

you don’t have a stunbreak or protection injection meaning you’re super weak to cc. with 20 in alchemy you get vigor, transmute, extra fury, and protection injection which is one of the best defensive traits in the game. transmute is good because let’s say a warrior leads off with pin down. the immobilize gets turned into swiftness (and possibly vigor) and their combo is set back. it’s unreliable condition removal but when it works it’s beautiful. slick shoes provides a stunbreak and can set up a jump shot which is your strongest attack. a combo could be something like magnet > pry bar > overcharged shot > net shot > throw wrench > slick shoes > blunderbuss > jump shot. healing turret is good because it’s a low cast time, strong heal that provides a water field that you can combo with rocket boots or jump shot for more heals.
the point i was trying to make is that limiting yourself to only farming fractals or only grinding karma for shards is a mistake. if you need shards, do both.
That conversion rate is just plain bad. You’d need upwards of 50k tokens to make a legendary with that rate. Not to mention, dungeon tokens are already a valuable source of ectos (for CoF and up) with a great conversion rate.
They do need to do something more for karma, but this is not it. They should bring the small karma pots back into the dungeon bags.
it took me less than a stack for my clovers plus the 250. but let’s say you need 500 for the clovers and the gift. that’s 7500 fractal relics, not 50,000. and you’ll probably finish getting 7500 fractal relics before you finish grabbing all your t6 mats assuming you started with nothing. all of this is assuming you’re only doing fractals for obsidian shards, which you shouldn’t be doing.
i’m not sure how you didn’t notice what he used. for example if he used bombs, it would’ve been very obvious. bombs placed on the ground, red circles everywhere. if he used static discharge there would’ve been lightning bolts everywhere. since you didn’t notice these painfully obvious things, it leads me to believe he was using the rifle grenade build. 30/0/0/20/20. lots of control, burst, and damage. and he probably wasn’t using automated medical response because healing turret has a short cooldown and that trait only activates once every 90 seconds.
fractals.
i would say no traits and no amulet. if you really want to challenge yourself, no weapon.
portable los kit. what’s to stop non bunkers from using it?
just tested it and it worked. all you have to do is swap to or out of med kit in or out of combat. problem’s on your end.
Yeah, it’s pretty dookie in tPvP or even sPvP. But it’s not terrible in WvW as you have access to high damage caps and different runes/food to help you out where you need it.
The standard PvT D/D with sigil of battle/ sigil of force/ runes of strength/ sharpening stone/ bowl of orrian truffle and meat stew is still really strong as you can have up 3k armor (with lust/in earth attunement), decent HP pool, and can maintain 11-13 stacks of might in a battle by yourself netting around 3.6-4k attack depending on how much ascended gear you have. When you have that much might, your condition damage isn’t the worst either.
i had good stats in tpvp. the issue was the actual condi application. you could have 5000 condition damage and 500% condition duration and still be bad if you can’t actually apply conditions.
the playstyle depends on the build, and there are really dozens of build to choose from; anything from glass cannon heavy burst, to sustained damage skirmisher, to hybrid power and conditions, to full on conditions, and even to unkillable bunkers.
The problem is 99% of those builds are just “Fun” to play, but Not Really effective at killing things.
disagree. all of those builds can be played even in pvp. maybe not high level pvp, but few people are at that level. the glass cannon SD, the rifle control skirmisher, the hgh hybrid build, the standard full condi engi, and the engi bunker. all have seen playtime in pvp.
swapping to the kit will grant the might and fury from altruism. not the toolbelt heal.
the engineer is an incredibly fun, versatile class. our mechanic is the toolbelt where we gain additional abilities based on what utilities we pick. the playstyle depends on the build, and there are really dozens of build to choose from; anything from glass cannon heavy burst, to sustained damage skirmisher, to hybrid power and conditions, to full on conditions, and even to unkillable bunkers. i suppose the real question is, what playstyle do you enjoy? because no matter your answer, you’ll find it in the engineer.
if you run a static discharge build, you want a lot of points into tools because it shortens the cooldowns for your toolbelt abilities meaning more static discharges.
so if those are the utilities you like then you can run this, swapping out healing turret for med kit and gaining vigor and permanent swiftness. also with med kit your heal recharges when you hit 25% because of the 15 point trait in tools.

you can take hair trigger, rifle mods, and modified ammo if you run speedy kits + invigorating speed with tool kit for vigor. tool kit is usually a staple in SD builds because of gear shield, throw wrench, and magnet + rifle is devastating. if you don’t run tool kit you can always run med kit.
something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQFAUl0pyUX7SyF17IyoHkWnJagekX+1IKqQ+B
note: this is about tpvp.
will condi eles ever be worthwhile? i made one for kicks and discovered i had pretty good stats: unbuffed i had ~3300 armor, 14k hp, 1300 condi dmg, and 900 healing with really good sustain. i just couldn’t apply enough conditions. here are some issues that i’ve found.
in terms of bleed application, stone shards just has an awful, awful cast time. other skills don’t apply bleeds quick enough (impale, ring of earth) or have too long of a cast time/delay (churning earth, eruption). then there are skills that i feel should apply bleeds but don’t (shatterstone, hurl)
eles don’t have any poison which means dealing with a class/build that has a lot of sustained healing will be difficult if not impossible. sigil of doom only helps you so much and using a sigil of doom means you can’t use other much more powerful sigils like battle or energy.
i feel like condition eles play similarly to a condition warrior but much, much, much, much, worse. the warrior at least has an added bonus of torment plus extremely rapid bleed application.
thoughts?
i think it should be an elite kit that functions similar to a guardian tome that focuses on 1500 range (untraited) aoe barrages. you know like a mortar. but that would probably be op
(edited by ArrDee.2573)
certain harder bosses should do some kind of undodgeable massive attack that NEEDS to be interrupted. it would promote actual coordination removing defiant stacks instead of stacking in a corner spamming 100b. it would make control builds more desirable because they can remove a large amount of defiant stacks with ease.
necromancers have long cooldowns. when a necromancer applies conditions, it’s a lot of stacks at once for huge condition burst damage. when an engineer applies conditions, it’s a smaller number of conditions but over a longer period of time because our cooldowns aren’t as long. we have more sustained condition damage.
