I never said “spectacular” stop putting words in my mouth out of desperation. I said use it for its raw damage, you know the base damage + CD base + CD guaranteed to hit a stealthed theif unless they decide to dodge in stealth.
Pretty much all channeled skills can be made out by a skilled player, its the same as arguing any skill is unreliable because you can see it coming or any skill is bad because it can be dodged, lets just compare it to another channeled skill.
- Meteor Shower fixed AoE radius, unless theif is in the area, it wont hit them.
- Life Transfer Non-fixed AoE radius, hits stealth targeted in range and did i mention you can MOVE whilst channeling?
I just thought id also say 30 Soul Reaping points and XI with boon duration completely nulls out any argument.. if you can call it that, you’ve made.
Necromancers can stip all boons from enemies, remove all conditions from allies, support heal for about 5k every 30 seconds, keep perma-weakness on enemies, blind & chill non-stop for 30 seconds flat and sit on a 76k health pool.

Carrion if your using condition damage traits, food and runes. Make sure you spam Death Shroud alot as you will have a much higher DS-HP pool if so.
Rampagers if your using condition duration traits, food and runes. Make sure you hit at-least 100% condition duration if so.

LT is not a reliable damage skill because it is easily dodged
Life Transfer needs no target, and isn’t a ground targeting AoE, it hits you no matter what. If your implying it can be dodged with dodge itself then ANY skill in the game can be “easily dodged” second to unblockable marks, Life Transfer is probably the most reliable hitting skill in the game. Your argument here is invalid.
Retaliation against thief’s 4-8k damage a hit
Who said anything about Retaliation? I was talking about Unholy Feasts raw damage, which again is a non-targeting non-ground targeting AoE that wont miss unless they dodge. Your argument here is invalid.
Wells? Thieves can wait 5 seconds to kill you no problem. What’s next? Spam your marks and hope they hit your stealth thief? ^^
It sounds like this is what you’ve been doing lol. You never tried to control a theifs movement into the wells? Its Necro 101.
Ranger pets can teleport up fortress walls. In a siege, you can’t get better team support than this.
Firstly that’s called a bug, causing the pets to run through objects and also Mist Wurm can so that legit and again Life Transfer hits through walls and ontop of it. Your argument here is invalid.
Engineers is necro’s underpowered pal at the moment.
I run a 2 man havoc squad with a engineer, they are FAR from underpowered. We clear supply camps in about 20 seconds. Engineers are massive boon support not damage and Necros out-damage them in PvP. Your argument here is invalid.

Is Khilbron the best necro set?
I’m unfamiliar with fractal stuff, but are there armors obtained from there? If so, why spend so much for the Khilbron?
Also, why not just get the karma precision/toughness/condition damage?
I prefer Apothecary.
Since I’m pretty sure tick damage doesn’t crit, not sure why go with precision. So, healing makes sense too.
OP has some nice gear on, nonetheless.
Precision with 100% duration in total for barbed precision’s 66% chance for 1 second bleed and then use an earth sigil or 2.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
I can throw the L2P line at you because its true, you have no understanding as to how to play a Necromancer at all. Necromancers arnt suppose to be a slippery class like theifs to escape zergs were suppose to be hard to escape from.
As for your things:
- Engineers damage is terrible, there the CC/ support class of the medium Armour. There mainly condition based outside of kits with easily dodgable long channeled skills and there grenade kit, one of there main damage sources it very unreliable as all skills are ground targets.
- Theifs without a doubt have terrible survivability. I as a power Necromancer dump on theifs who use stealth as a means of survivability with 6k+ Life Transfers, 2k Unholy Feasts and insta-killing well bombing if they attempt to Heart-seeker spam.
- Rangers have 0 support.
For someone who has tested ‘nearly everything’ you know absolutely nothing about Necros.
Poison, well let’s hope the guy happens to equip a long recharge 40 second cooldown healing skill, and he happens to use it when he had that poison on. Else that 1.5k damage over 6 seconds won’t hurt anybody.
Focus 5 > Corrupt Boon > Plague Signet? You know you cant keep thinking about classes and comparing single skills, combining skills is like 99% of PvP.

Is Khilbron the best necro set?
I’m unfamiliar with fractal stuff, but are there armors obtained from there? If so, why spend so much for the Khilbron?
Most condition based builds who don’t want to go full glass cannon buy the Khilbron’s set to benefit from the toughness whilst gaining condition damage and use traits, runes and food to convert some of that toughness to other stats such as;
- 5% Toughness to power trait. (for Necromancers)
- 6% Toughness to condition damage, power or precision maintenance oils.
- 5% Toughness to condition damage runes.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
That is my WvW setup (Well glass cannon) I play full condition support for FoTM as condition damage surpasses direct when it sticks any-day and perma-weakness is king support in fractals (im on level 30 atm)
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
This is a build i have considered designing a similar build for my Necromancer.
Power Scepter build using Triforge Pendant, Sun and Moon ascended rings and Divinity runes to maximize the stat points and benefit from every corner of the Trinity.
The only thing that’s putting me off at the moment is paying the 110g for the Triforge Necklace only to have an ascended version come out in the next couple months.

Correct me if im wrong but Spectral Walk and Mist Wurm is a blink/ teleport, LF builder (direct DS-HP for free, 3% of a 20k HP Necromancer with 15 SRP is 830 health gained PER HIT / +8300DS-HP), stun-breaker and Walk is also base 30 seconds swiftness.
Learn to play Necromancer properly please CHIPS, any decent Necro player reading this thread will be laughing at you for your child-like approach to what you think are Necromancers limits.

I’m sorry but your take on Necromancers and there effectiveness in all the roles is just wrong, granted we cant preform better then most classes at some aspects but your analysis is just wrong and this is really a L2P topic.
Survivability
Firstly Necromancers have one of the best survival setups in-game. it may not be as obvious as D/D Elementalists regen power or Bunker Guardians condition removal but Death Shroud is a huge boost in survivability.
(120% of Max Health + SRP%) – 3-4% Total/ sec can translate into some extremely bunky builds and I’ve survived and killed countless times on below 2k health and flicking in and out of Death Shroud to decoy on cooldowns.
Heres a quick sPvP screenie i took yesterday with my burst heal support build i didn’t die once in the match because of the insane survivability i speced into.
Damage
You cant compare our damage to theifs and complain they do more then us, period. Theif classes are designed to hit hard and die quick and in WvW i have no issues at all fighting theifs there my easiest kills.
Our damage is suppose be the weakest out of the light Armour users because of our insane health pool. Other classes typically need to stat in full vitality to hit 18k health, we don’t and that’s why many Necromancers choose to make up lost damage in Armour bonus.
That being said i have never had an issue (minus Bunker Guardians ofc) dishing out 20k+ damage in a rotation of direct damage skills, Necromancers weakness in the damage department is the long cooldowns on our utilities vs other classes which is unfair yes.
You cant say Necromancers conditions is weak zerg vs. zerg because of all the AoE condition removal, its universal. Every class suffers from all the passive condition removal.
TL;DR L2P please. We arnt the strongest, but we are not the weakest at everything. We suffer from long cooldown utilities and numerous high-end bugs which will.. eventually be fixed.

It seems to be random. I just did some testing in the Mists and i mixed up being emo and inflicting self-conditions with Blood is Power, Corrupt Boon, Corrosive Poison Cloud and then transferring with Deathly Swarm and it was random which one was removed.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
I’ve just done some testing in mists on barbed precision vs 90 – 100% condition duration and your correct all from 90 to 99% duration (20 spite and going up by 1 each time) didn’t provide the second tick on barbed precision but it did at 100%
Maybe this is specific with this trait only.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
I was quoting from a post i saw yesterday about achieving the second fear tick.
This is because the game rounds up float points. The durations for conditions always are modified in quarter of a second intervals, so when it comes to achieving 7.5/8ths of a full 2 second fear, you only need roughly 86% cduration.
Easiest way to get second tick.. 2 lyssa, 2 mad king, rare veg pizza, 20 points in spite. You’ll get it every time.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
Superior Runes of the Lich’s 4th add-on is either bugged or has a tool-tip error and provides +16% condition duration making it +20% for a 4 set.
x2 Superior Rune of Lyssa and x4 Superior Runes of the Lich would give:
+25 Precision
+10% Condition Duration
+25 Vitality
+4% Condition Duration
+50 Vitality
+16% Condition Duration
With 30 points in the Spite tree, a Rare Veggie Pizza and your 1 Giver’s weapon you’ll hit +110% condition duration although only +90% is required to achieve the extra ticks on DoT skills and +1 full second to conditions.
I would recommend a build similar to this for dagger condition if your still on the fence with builds:

Stacking vulnerability in PvP is just not effective with the Axe #1 skill. Axe is mainly used by direct damage builds for the high burst damage #2 skill, control from #3 and 600 range for a moderate safety distance.

Looks like BG pulling another all-weeker and will finally be moving back up to T1, just ashame it took so many bandwagoners like ND jumping ship to do so
Had fun last night in SoR-BL vs. TC, made bank vs them and there poor organization.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
Whats with those runes? They seem abit random and a poor choice.
For example, why take a 28 condition damage, 4% condition duration set when Lyssa gives 25 precision, 10% condition duration
The Gemoancy sigil contradicts using a scepter as you have to be in there face to get the AoE bleed off. Earth would be a much more efficient sigil (210 bleed damage single target with no ICD vs 294 bleed damage small range AoE)
For a Hybrid pure damage its nice but its got quite low survivability if focused, no mobility at all and no stun-breaker.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA
If this is for outside sPvP, remember is a new weapon set that is silly OP for Necromancers.
Giver’s statted weapons provide precision, vitality and 10% condition duration and is a easy +20% condition duration.

I still think the high risk, high reward can still be applied to us.
One of the reasons i still love and play my Necromancer despite all the terra-bad patches is when i kill people on my Necro i feel i earned that kill and im proud of it.
Anyone (like the new meta seems to be) can just roll a Shatter Mesmer, or Backstab Thief and win but its just boring.

So dont spend your time auto attacking with the Axe, as its weak as crap auto attack
Are we supposed to spend our time auto attacking with the staff!? a projectile that misses 90% of the time? (im guessing no)so that leaves dagger or septer< septer stacks bleeds worse and lower duration then any other proffesion that stacks bleeds in the game
dagger is decent dammage but mele range only
seems like we have no viable auto attack -
If you find yourself auto-attacking as a Necromancer for direct damage, your doing something wrong. Unlike Thief’s or Warriors, who can basically 1 skill you to death, we have to use every possible source of damage output to keep up with damage.
As a direct damage player my typical rotation is Warhorn 4> Axe 3 > Axe 2 > DS4 > DS3 > DS1 > DS2 > Axe 3 > Axe 2 and using utilities as and when i can find an opening.
I don’t use Axe for Axe 1, period. I use axe because its a moderate ranged weapon that has the hardest hitting shortest channeling skill Necromancers can get(i frequently hit 9k’s with Axe 2) and a AoE cripple that requires no target as-well as gaining 3 to 15 seconds of Retaliation.
Commander Ascii :: Tempest Wolves [TW] :: Sanctum of Rall :: Best Necromancer NA

There is no new upcoming maps, this was confirmed by the game designers in a interview with a GW radio show not so long ago on the subject of upcoming WvW changes.
They specifically said designing a new map from scratch would take upwards of 6 months and its not a priority to add new cosmetic content when there’s still much to do with the current maps.
They also confirmed matches are staying at 1 week perm.

When it comes to condition vs direct in WvW i believe there is no ‘better’ build.
Condition builds have really good control (stuff like mass crippling and chilling, keeping bleeds on enemies for other classes to benefit from) Direct builds have raw damage bursts and good support through well combo fields.
I would recommend playing around with both builds and finding the one that fits your typical play-style.
http://www.twitch.tv/gw2ascii/b/353567741 I play full direct damage Necro in WvW if you scroll to about 20 mins in my steam you can see the kind of damage i can put out at short notice.
Hope this helps!

lol… wat every class needs a stun breaker im sorry to tell you but its simply so true.. x.x even when im on my thief i use haste for the simple stun breaker lol
No hes right, most stuns can be avoided or just simply tanked through (as a necromancer that is)
With our only decent stun-breakers being on 60 second cooldowns vs classes that can multi-stun in a row its really a bad choice to pick one over something that could work in your favor (example Well of Darkness which would shutdown the damage done to you after being CC’d and offer a combo field and any well-related perks from traits(protection, life siphon))
My main reason for using Spectral Walk is for the life force boosting and perma-swiftness which i feel is a must for Necromancers in WvW. Whenever im CC’d Death Shroud works as my stunbreaker (as it can be cast whilst CC’d) and i just Doom them away.
Also lets not forget the obvious trait that fears apon being CC’d.

Its just another GW2 myth like Thief’s are OP or there working on the Minion AI I’ve been playing full support Necromancer in sPvP recently and i think its one of there most effective builds.
We have a stupid amount of condition control and removal and also have an amazing burst-heal that really turns fights.
My particular favorite is showing up to a midway fight and dropping Well of Blood giving everyone healing, regeneration from dwayna runes and condition removal from the light field then Deathshroud life transfer for a 2.7k AoE heal and then Well of Power for condition removal and life stealing combo field all while stripping any remaining conditions with plague signet.

Being a full power Necromancer who uses axe since BWE-1 i can say yes you are right that Axe’s auto attack are terrible now compared to every other classes auto-attacks.
However the key to using Axe in WvW is not for the auto-attacking but for its 2 and 3 skills. When using Axe try to minimize the time your actually spending auto-attacking (which shouldn’t be too difficult as we have multiple forms of damage) and find that magic opening spot were you can ‘warhorn 4 daze > axe 2 burst > F1 deathshroud > 4 life transfer > 3 doom > axe 2 burst.’
TL;DR Don’t spend your time auto-attacking with an Axe.

Just break down the skills and choose:
Spectral Walk [60 Second cooldown/ 48 Second cooldown traited]
- Stun-breaker.
- 8 Seconds of life force building.
- 30 Seconds of Swiftness.
- Potential duking skill.
Spectral Armor [90 Second cooldown/ 72 Second cooldown traited]
- Stun-Breaker.
- 6 Seconds of life force building.
- 6 Seconds of Protection.
For me, Spectral Walk will always be the top choice as my stun-breaker.

You might also want to talk about your weapon sigils and your choice on Spectral Armor as your stun-breaker instead of walk.
In your opinion is 9 seconds of protection & 6 seconds of LF building for a 90 second cooldown better then a 39 seconds of swiftness, 8 seconds of LF building and potential position switch for a 60 second cooldown, your build has no mobility at all remember and if so, why not run Spectral Mastery to instantly judo-chop 18 seconds off that stupidly long cooldown.
