How prevalent is cheating? (not orb hacking)

  • Speed-hacking.
  • Fly-hacking.
  • ALT + F4 / Force log-out.
  • Building siege in spawn towns/ camps.
  • Botters taking up queue spaces.
  • Thief & Mesmers teleporting into structures.

All these issues are cheating and until there addressed by ANet, they will continue to be used in WvW because its increasingly hard to actually report the person(s) in question.

Some of these exploits have been around since beta and people are growing tiresome of having to deal with this whilst trying to help there server to the point less and less people are WvWing.

And ANet remains quiet and non-informative on the issues ruining one of the few end-game activities in this game.

I just never encountered the issue because i never used vitality on my weapons and i cant transmute the stats i want onto The Bifrost without losing its legendary status.

Heres a new one i just noticed, apon switching out my Axe Warhorn in WvW for my staff i lose 4% life force and gain it back when switching back.

Any ideas on wtf lol?

Is my WvW build (not including the armour & weapon stats) I play power necro and do extremely well. Banshee’s Wail and Spectral Mastery allow me to keep up perm Swiftness which is vital in WvW and Wail of Doom inflicts AoE 3 second Daze which shuts down crowds.

Lich Form pumps out 6k crits at about 95% critical chance as the build is pretty much in perm Fury from the runes sitting on about 97% critical damage.

I switch out Banshee’s Wail for Focused Ritial’s when taking down siege equipment off walls. A Mixture of the AoE from wells plus death shroud can take down defenders on walls instantly.

Which class next?

Necromancer will always be my main and my most played class. There quite well rounded and needed for WvW and PvE farming which i play the most.

Engineer will be my next class to play, there quick and remove conditions like Necromancers. Can be built and played in all different ways switching from support to damage in seconds and do a ton of damage with grenade speced build in WvW.

Thief and Mesmer i wont be playing as there broken with no major nurfing in sight and i dont like playing easily overwhelming classes, i like to earn my kills!

Guardian isnt my taste, too tanky orinated with less damage output then they should be doing, i prefer the happy medium classes.

Ranger is ranger, same old and predictable for the archer class, not my thing.

Warrior If they had a ranged hundered blades skill id be all for it but im not a fan of close ranged melee classes. Slow moving and easily countered.

As with all classes you will improve alot the more you level up. As for leveling up itself you should be focusing on Minions and points in either Spite, Death Magic or Blood Magic as these will benefit your minions the most.

With a all minion build leveling and soloing stuff is a walk in the park, and traits are always resettable. By the time your 80 you should have enough points for all your skills!

How do you handle thiefs?

Burst them down with Axe 2 first, when they stealth death shroud and life transfer and then drop blinding + chilling, vulnerability and boon removal wells whilst transforming into lich.

Works like a charm every time.

What happened to my minions?

Minions AI is pretty poor still, they bunch up and there really easily AoE’d down by mobs. You can improve there health by 50% with a trait in death magic and damage in spite which makes them okish for PvE solo.

Transmuting Exotic & Legendaries

Thank you for your answer, i had looked around for threads previously but none of them had definite answers as to what you can and cant do to legendaries.

  • Transmuting Exotic or below stats onto the Bifrost will cause it to lose legendary status and name.
  • Weapon name is changed to “Bifrost of (sigil name)” apon transmuting.
  • No effects are lost apon transmuting stats onto the staff.
  • Sigils in the weapon can be swapped without affecting the weapon in any way.

Entitled to Legendaries?

A legendary is a sign of pretty much game completion, its a big ive tried everything in this game weapon that looks cool and can get you respect.

Legendaries will cost you between 300 to 600 gold depending on what one your aiming for and what method you use to get your precursor. I myself estimated my Bifrost at about 320 gold as i got my precursor from the mystic forge for about 20 gold.

For me, 1 to 80 earned me 150 gold and farming the 1m karma about 85 gold. Spot farming and TP Traveler rune merchenting earned me about 50 gold. I averaged the estimated 30% chance for Mystic Clovers and got lucky on the 0.1% MF precursor chance.

Some people hate on legendaries because that kind of money is outside there range and others because it gives no “bonus” for the cost, them types of people shouldn’t be thinking about them at all.

I did write a simple step by step guide on how to farm a legendary here but its been bumped down the threads since

Will legendaries retain there legendary status (purple name, legendary in description) when transmuting my legendary staff looks with my exotic staffs stats and signet?

I’ve heard some people say it loses one or both of these and sometimes weapon effects.

It doesn’t need to be tweaked or changed in any way, the difficulty is what makes this unique and imo the most entertaining thing in this game.

Mad King's Clock Tower - Jumping Puzzle Tips

My tips would be jump onto the floating rock instead of going around just after the waiting bit. That period there is what makes or breaks the run, too slow you cant get the chest jump.

Took me 5 hours and it was the most fun ive ever had.

That tower basically made me stop playing, so poorly designed. if we could do it alone, or with fewer people, it would at least be slightly less annoying.

Its fine as it is lol, most slow people fall off at the start and lets you focus on the hard part after the waiting.

DO NOT CHANGE ONE THING! this is by far the most fun i have experienced on this game since playing closed betas. The amount of accuracy and patience you need to do this is amazing and i think ANet you’ve done an amazing job at this Halloween event just to see the length you’ve gone too.

Necromancers strength isn’t conditions :/ Engineers can stack more conditions much quicker and effectively then we can. (Vulnerability, Bleeding and Burning without even caring to first off lol)

Lich form is a direct boost on base stats i can confirm that as i tested while go.

300% base power increase, 200% precision and vitality increase and it will actually remove all weapon bonuses too (1,044 toughness with my Bifrost on, 916 in Lich Form)

I personally think straight up damage is better.

Condition damage will do more damage over time however theres many things that will limit it ALOT in PvE. For example some monsters remove conditions or send them back at you and when doing a Dynamic Event the maximum stack of a condition is 25, making it impossible to do damage if its at the stack.

Test Number 2: 30% Life Force Boost, 916 Vitality

In Death Shroud for 17.24 seconds (68.96% LF)
Took 7,051 Damage (31.04% LF)
Death Shroud HP: 22,715

Test Number 3: 0% Life Force Boost, 1,839 Vitality

In Death Shroud for 19.24 seconds (76.96% LF)
Took 7,850 Damage (23.04% LF)
Death Shroud HP: 34,071

From these tests we can therefor say:

  • Base Death Shroud Health before Vitality or Trait boost is roughly 21,000 HP
  • 1 Point of Soul Reaping increases the base Death Shroud HP by 0.27% instead of 1%
  • 1 Point of Vitality increases the base Death Shroud HP by 0.05%
  • 1 Point of Blood Magic (+10 Vitality) increases base Death Shroud HP by 0.5%

Conclusion: Blood Magic will provide more DS-HP then Soul Reaping.

This formula should apply to everyone testing this out (hopefully):
Your Death Shroud HP = (20908 + (12.3 * (Vitatily – 916))) * (Soul Reaping Points * 0.27)

Better for Leveling? Condition or Power

Power has always been my preferred method for most things. Between Staffs 2-5 nuking, Well of Corruption and Well of Suffering and DS’ Life Transfer i have never had a problem tagging mobs in dynamic events or taking down groups of 10+ on my own.

30 in Spite is a must (V/ VIVIIXII)
15 in Curses for fury apon DS entering helps alot for Life transfers damage (V)
25 in Death Magic if you want a tanky power build whilst converting toughness to power (IIV)
or
25 in Soul Reaping for faster Life Transfer spamming and +25% crit damage (IIIX)

And yea Lich Form destroys pretty much anything.

Plague Form & Stability

Both Lich Form and Plague Form grant 30 second of stability apon use. Plague Form’s Stability will be removed apon leaving plague form however Lich Forms will not.

The stability granted can be boosted in duration via traits and runes.

Ascii, how are you coping with no stun breaks? Do you just tap DS and eat the damage when the cc lands? Are you able to build enough life force quickly enough to deal with the next cc when it comes?

Also, how long can you last 2v1?

I myself can last quite well when 2v1’d the chill AoE from weapon swapping which can be done in death shroud makes kiting very easy and my version is quite tanky. Depending on your playstyle you can improve its damage or make it more tanky to suit your needs.

Quick note for everyone using this build outside of SPvP. Superior Runes of the Mad King provide +25 power and +10% condition duration for using 2. Runes of the Lyssa are the only other rune to provide +10% condition duration on second add-on. I would highly recommend changing your build to:

  • 2 Superior Runes of the Lyssa (+25 Precision, +10% Condition Duration)
  • 2 Superior Runes of the Mad King (+25 Power, +10% Condition Duration)
  • 2 Superior Runes of the Ice (+25 Vitality, +20% Frozen Duration)

Superior Sigils of Chilling’s +10% frozen duration has now been fixed and extends chill duration on both main hand and off-hand weapons. I will be updating this thread with a new full build version soon as ive finished my legendary weapons guide in the crafting section.

One thing that might work is somehow keeping your life force 20% or below and tapping F1 twice to enter and exit death shroud procing any effects that trigger.

However i think that might be more a design flaw.

Thank you all for the input on the mystic forge process and odds. The statistics i gave were based on a few threads i’ve viewed some with data some without. As i’m trying to make this thread the most accurate possible i will now only use the statistics from data collected threads.

Ive also updated the post to show rares 60 and above can be used to make the Precursor however its much more statistically better to use 4 level 80s to guarantee the outcome is 80.

Note: I am still editing each and every post to simplify as much of the process as i can into steps without having to troll through page after page of sites!

Step Nine: The Precursor

Now the most difficult part, obtaining your Precursors which is the base exotic weapon you need to craft the legendary.

The known ways of getting your Precursors are:

  • Buying from Trading Post. Prices flux between 150 to 350 gold depending on the Precursor. This can be farmed in 75 to 175 hours doing the Plinx karma root in the guide which earns an average of 2 to 3 gold hourly.
  • Temple events in all 70+ zones on the map. These have been reported as rewards from the chest at the end.
  • Monster drops from level 81+ dynamic events. Several people have reported to have received Precursors from events such as defending R&D camp from Tar Elementals.
  • 4 Exotic level 80 weapons of the required type (i.e. Staffs for ‘The Legend’ which crafts ‘The Bifrost’) in the mystic forge. People have reported an average of 3.5% (1/28 chance) to receive the Precursor.
  • 4 Rare level 80 weapons of the required type (i.e. Staffs for ‘The Legend’ which crafts ‘The Bifrost’) in the mystic forge. People have reported an average of 20% (1/5) to receive an exotic weapon of which an average of 1.2% (1/83 chance) to receive the Precursor.

When gambling in the mystic forge you can use rare items level 60 upwards however to drastically improve your chances level 80 rares are recommended. This is because anything below 80 has a chance to produce an item that is not level 80 thus if you did receive an exotic from a recipe that used level 60 – 79 items it has a chance of being produced level 71 – 80 and the Precursor has to be level 80. Using 4 level 80 items guarantees you the outcome will be level 80.

Step Eight: The final stretch, 100 Icy runestones

The last material you should need excluding the exotic weapon is 100 Icy Runestones bought from Rojan the Penitent at Frostgorge Sound in Frostwalk Tundra west of the Earthshake Waypoint. These cost 1 gold each.

At this time you should sell everything possible you have left over material wise. All them additional materials and drops from world completion and farming will make the bulk of the gold needed to buy these runestones. The rest can be got from farming gold in cursed shore from Plinx again.

Buy your 100 Icy Runestones and then craft your gift of … (i.e. Gift of Bifrost) using the 2 gifts, the sigil and runestone in the mystic forge.

Step Seven: The 4 sub-gifts needed

Now comes the crafting of the 5 gifts needed to make the main gifts. Two of these (Gift of Magic and Gift of Might) are used in every legendary (which in turn makes the Gift of Fortune) and the other two found in the Gift of … (Gift of Bifrost) recipe (i.e. the Bifrost is Gift of Color and Gift of Energy) gather the following:

Gift of Magic (Crafted by placing these 4 items in the mystic forge)
250 Vial of Powerful Blood
250 Powerful Venom Sac
250 Elaborate Totem
250 Pile of Crystalline Dust

Gift of Might (Crafted by placing these 4 items in the mystic forge)
250 Vicious Fang
250 Armored Scale
250 Vicious Claw
250 Ancient Bone

Gift of Fortune (Crafted by placing these 4 items in the mystic forge)
250 Globs of Ectoplasm
77 Lucky Clovers
Gift of Magic
Gift of Might

The next find out the next material you need by checking the Gift of … (Gift of Bifrost) recipe and clicking on each of the 2 gifts in that. You will have the instance material already so you will need the other 7 components.

Craft these 2 gifts from the craft window at the required craft NPC and finally buy the Superior Sigil rune you need found in the Gift of … (i.e. Gift of Bifrost is Superior Sigil of Nullification)

1 Gift of Fortune
1 Gift of Mastery
1 Gift of (first gift required for the Gift of … (i.e. Gift of Bifrost)
1 Gift of (second gift required for the Gift of … (i.e. Gift of Bifrost)
1 Superior Sigil of (whatever your Gift of … (i.e. Gift of Bifrost) is)
