Hi NickChabby – It’s possible that the problem you’re experiencing may be caused by outdated Root Certificates on your machine. In an effort to update these I would like for you to follow the steps below:

1. Close out of Guild Wars 2 if you have it running and go to your Documents folder. In the Guild Wars 2 folder you should have a file called Local.dat, delete this file.

2. Download the program from the link below:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe

3. Run the program. You will probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear.

If you run the program and nothing happens that’s ok, it is as it should be.

4. Open the Game Client and try to access the trading post.

Hope this helps!

Hi erkball – Sorry I’m getting back to you so late! Unfortunately the info in the crashlog is a little vague and so we’d need to collect a bit more diagnostic info from you in order to do more testing. This way we can better narrow down any potential causes of the issue rather than just throwing troubleshooting steps at you that have nothing to do with the issue.

That being said, for quicker one on one assistance, I’d recommend opening up a support ticket with a Game Advisor report attached. If you’d like, you can also provide the report to this thread as well. I’ve included a link to a sticky below which should give you some more information on creating support tickets:

Hey there secksitime – It looks like your Intel® G33/G31 Express Chipset may be the limiting factor here since it does not technically meet the minimum requirements and your processor may not be powerful enough to carry it. I would advise at least updating your video card drivers as this may help considering they are from 2008, though it is very likely this issue may not be resolved due to your video card not meeting the minimum requirements.
I’ve provided the link to update your drivers below:

Port 6112 appears to be blocked. Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.

Hi Kristof Kulcsar – That does appear to be the infamous sound bug. This is a known issue that’s being looked into and I wish I had an ETA for a fix but at the moment there just isn’t one.

I know you don’t want to sacrifice sound quality, though I know other players have resolved or minimized this problem by reducing their Sound settings from “High Quality” to “Fastest.”

Other than that, there isn’t anything at all wrong with your system, it’s simply a known issue.

Hi Serinxandar – The issue you are reporting may be due to the Guild Wars 2 ports being blocked. To check this, please try the following:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder.
2. Right-click on “Gw2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Right-click on “Gw2.exe – Shortcut” and select “Rename.”
4. Rename this file to “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic.”
5. Right-click on “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” and select “Properties.”
6. Locate the “Target” line and add the following to the end " -diag"
Your target line should look like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -diag
7. Click OK to save your changes.
8. Open “Guild Wars 2 Diagnostic” to start the test.

Once completed, please click “View Results” and save the results to a text file on your desktop. Once saved, I’d like for you to attach this report to the thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”

Hi Qastal – To get a ballpark idea of the sort of FPS you can expect to see in game, you can use an application called “Heaven” which is essentially a benchmarking tool that would allow you to see your average framerate and performance in a real world 3D environment.

If you decide to do this, you can download Heaven from the site below in addition to running the application with the following settings:

1, Download “Heaven” from this site here: http://unigine.com/products/heaven/download/ (Free download)
2. Once on this page, click “Mirrored by TechPowerUP” under the “Windows Version” field. This will take you to TechPowerUp.com where you can click “Download Now” and select a download mirror.
3. Once downloaded, double click the file to run it.
4. Use the following settings:

API: DirectX 9
Tessellation: Disabled
Shaders: High
Anisotropy: 4x
Stereo 3D: Disabled
Multi monitor: Unchecked
Anti-aliasing: Off
Full Screen: Check marked
Resolution: System

Once running, click the “Benchmark” button in the top left corner. This will start the test. Once completed, the results will be shown on the screen and you can click “Save” to save your results.

Keep in mind this is just for your reference. If you’re not quite getting the frames that you see in the results, I’d recommend creating a support ticket so we can try to find out why you may be experiencing lower framerates than you would expect.

Hi Kojiden – This appears to be a limitation of your 32-bit operating system. Due to the RAM limitations of the 32-bit Operating system the game is trying to run off of more RAM than is available which is causing the memory crashes. 32-bit Windows only uses approximately 3.5G total RAM including any video memory. Some players have resolved this by upgrading to 64-bit operating systems and others have simply removed physical RAM from the system to bring the memory totals closer to values intended for that revision of Windows (32-bit). Obviously removing RAM from your PC is not an ideal solution but I wanted to give you all the information we have found regarding these issues. You can read more about this issue from Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605 but the important part is listed below:

“For example, if you have a video card that has 256 MB of onboard memory, that memory must be mapped within the first 4 GB of address space. If 4 GB of system memory is already installed, part of that address space must be reserved by the graphics memory mapping. Graphics memory mapping overwrites a part of the system memory. These conditions reduce the total amount of system memory that is available to the operating system.”

One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:

1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”

2. Select "Manage 3D Settings.

3. Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”

Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.

Hi Meron – It looks like the issue here is that your Intel chipset isn’t supported to play. The installer has a sort of built in requirements check that will act exactly as you have described if your system doesn’t meet the requirements.

Some players have managed to get around this, however, ultimately may be out of luck here due to your system being below the required specs. The one thing I would recommend is updating your Intel video drivers as they appear to be dated for 2007. You can use Intel’s driver update utility below:

Hi Arrowstorm – From what you’ve described, the issue you are experiencing is called a TDR or Timeout Detection and Recovery error that happens with the Windows Vista/7 and the Nvidia Drivers. For more information on this error, please go to the following link:

As you can see from the above article, this is not an actual issue with Guild Wars 2, but with the Nvidia drivers and will have to be addressed and corrected by Nvidia.

Hi Vlk Fenris – Sounds like you’ve tried just about everything at this point. I checked out your ArenaNet.log file and this in particular caught my attention:

  • Crash <—*
    Exception: c00000fd
    App: Gw2.exe
    Pid: 3148
    Cmdline:
    BaseAddr: 00400000
    ProgramId: 101
    Build: 16845
    Module: GvOsd.dll

The Module here points to “GvOsd.dll” which belongs to Gigabyte Technology. Unfortunately this is a little vague here because it doesn’t point to anything else specifically, though this may be a driver issue with your hardware, or hardware related. This is the most prevalent error message in your crash report and very likely the cause of the issue that you’re experiencing.

At this point if you’d like for us to better look into it one on one with you, I’d recommend creating a technical support ticket and including a Game Advisor report in your response.

Hi eddbutter – The crashlog you’ve provided does indicate that the reason you’re crashing is due to the limitation of your 32-bit operating system.

Have you guys tried repairing the client? You can do this by following these steps:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.

Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” to start the repair process.

Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

Hi Flatley – If you’re using Windows XP it should be located in your Guild Wars 2 folder, otherwise if you’re using 7, Vista, or 8 it will be located in Documents\Guild Wars 2. If you don’t have this file then this is likely your system that is crashing and not due to the client.

Hi again Jereguy – I would recommend trying a couple of these tweaks to see if this improves your in-game performance at all:

1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Catalyst Control Center.”
2. Select “Preferences” and left-click “Advanced mode.”
3. Click the “Gaming” tab on left.
4. Select “3D Application Settings.”
5. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing” checkmark “Use application settings” but do not check “Morphological filtering.”
6. Under the heading “Anisotropic filter” checkmark “Use application settings.”
7. Under the heading “Tessellation” checkmark “AMD Optimized.”
8. Under the heading “Catalyst A.I.” move the slider to “Performance.”
9. Under the heading “Wait for vertical sync” move the slider to “On, unless application specifies.”
10. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing Mode” move the slider to “Performance.”
11. Click “Apply” to save these changes and then start Guild Wars 2.

Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:

1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mystletainn – Your Crash logs are showing CRC errors, what this means is that something has caused a file to be the wrong size and corrupted the installation. The first thing we want to rule out are issues on your drive.

Please do the following first to check and repair your drive:

1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.

2. Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.

3. Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

4. To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

5. Click Start.

Depending upon the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, don’t use your computer for any other tasks while it’s checking for errors.

Once that is complete, Please navigate to your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder and in there you should see a file called Local.dat. Delete this file.

Once you’ve done that, I’d recommend running another repair on the client.

Hi Spock – What troubleshooting steps have you tried to resolve this issue? Have you tried a simple repair of the game client? If you’re unsure how to do this, I’ve provided the steps for you below:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.

2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”

3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”

4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”

Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” to start the repair process.

Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue for you, we may need your system specs and more diagnostic information in order to troubleshoot this issue.
