I understand that Jonwar, but this huge nerf is crippling far more than just a phantasm spec. To put into perspective how big of a nerf this is for non-shatter mesmers, there’s going to be a 20% direct nef to the following skills:
1 – Mirror Blade
2 – iBerzerker
3 – Phase Retreat
4 – iWarlock
5 – Illusionary Counter
6 – Illusionary Leap
7 – Illusionary Riposte
8 – iSwordsman
9 – iDuelist
10 – iWarden
11 – iMage
12 – iDisenchanter
13 – iDefender
14 – Decoy
15 – Mirror ImagesOne change is nerfing 15 skills by 20%. This is by FAR the worst nerf any class has gotten since the beginning of the game. I’m sorry I usually don’t complaing or cry for nerfs or ask for buffs often, but any mesmer will tell you how game-breaking of a change this really is
I’m sorry, but I can’t agree with that at all! A minor trait that allows you to reduce at least 1 skill in every weapon set, no exception, and some skills, can’t be considere balanced at no means.
If it was reduced to ‘summon illusions, only’ skills restrictions, I’d give you a point that this change is too much. However, it affects phantasms and other skills that do more than just summon an illusion (Illu leap for example)!
Can you imagine if another profession could potentially reduce some of their skills cd in every weapon set? That wouldn’t be balanced, and thats not counting the fact that mesmers can reduce 40% cd of some skills, with combined traits…
So yeah, I think moving it into a GM minor trait is justificable :^T
Around 1500 coffers, 3 tickets. But I’m not happy with this system, specially considering there will be new items avaiable in the next update. It’s too much gold to spend in such short period of time (and it’s worse for me, since I mainly play PVP,aka zero gold income).
No way!
“Zealous Blade: This trait has been merged with Greatsword Power and is now labeled as a Tier 2 trait.”
“Pure of Heart: This trait now heals for its base amount +25% benefit from healing power, up from 10%.”
Awesome buffs for zerk guardians. Doubt Anet would do it, tough…
Thief changes:
Destroy Shadow Trap: This ability now teleports the thief back to the trap location when it is destroyed. Added range skill facts. This skill now breaks stuns.
Shadow Pursuit: This ability now grants fury and 10 stacks of might for 5 seconds along with stealth when used to teleport to the enemy who triggered Shadow Trap. This ability now breaks stuns.
Nice changes, but still, the range limit thing will ruin everythingDeath Blossom: Now costs 4 initiative.
Time to have some fun with the good ol’unicorn buildBody Shot: Aftercast reduced by .4s. Decreased Vuln duratrion to 3s. Increaased to 10 stacks fo Vuln.
It’s over 9000!!Signet of Malice: Increased the base heal by 33% of the passive ability.
QQ incomingSteal: Recharge reduced to 35.
MehCluster Bomb range set to 900 from 1200.
Would be O.K, IF WE HAD A RANGED WEAP WITH 900+ RANGE!Dancing Dagger: Reduced initiative cost to 3.
Still worthlessLarcenous Strike: Initiative cost increased to 2.
Shadow Return (infiltrator strike toggle): This skill is no longer a stun breaker.
Proves that QQ balances everythingShadow Arts
Last Refuge: The cooldown of this trait has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60.
Lol
Shadow Protector: This trait has been changed to apply 10 seconds of regeneration when you stealth them. This effect will not occur if the ally already has regeneration on them.
Naize
Trickery
Merciful Ambush: This trait now grants 2 seconds of stealth to you and your ally when beginning a revive.
Could be interesting ô_õ
Long Reach: This trait now increases the range of Steal to 1500, up from 1200.
Oh yeah
Ricochet: The chance to bounce for this trait has been increased from 25% to 50%.
^^
If there’s any truth on these.

Was looking foward into dragon look armors since this is a draconic festival. Oh well, seems i’ll just save my gems for another time…
I was expecting something more…draconic.

Because people should be forced into using a in game item just to counter a profession specific skill. Sounds like great balance instead of just getting rid of the current version of stealth.
You don’t need an item to beat a thief, only skill. But hey, it’s WvWvW crowd here afterall…
Because we are slow. I love playing my zerg guardian in sPvP/tPvP, but I can’t deny we are slow in and out of combat, different from other melee classes like thieves and warriors. At least we compensate that with tankiness and boons :^)
A class with at least 2 very viable builds, AMAZING!
meanwhile elementalist only viable one is D/D. EVEN MORE AMAZING!
Do you even S/D ele bro?
Burst Warrior will beat BM bunker if he didn’t bring rampage as one for stability or he’s got no stunbreaker.
A 100b will still take out half their health with 2.2k toughness from shaman amulet. An eviscerate will still take out 1/3 of their health.
All you need to make sure is to land a 100b or eviscrate followed up by landing a whirlwind.
Warrior damage is unhealable if he has leg specialist and you have no stun breaker to avoid 100b or condi cleanse to avoid the leg specialist eviscerate.
If ranger has Rampage as One elite, he wins. Stability is the best counter to a warrior.
Even if you manage to land 100b and esvi, chances are he’ll still be alive and healing all his way back. And non crit damage esvicerate is just poop :^/
I guess I don’t see why it’s such a big deal. It’s high burst and it happens very quickly, sure, but a decent roaming thief could do pretty much the same thing, except you wouldn’t even be able to see them coming at all and they would have an even easier time escaping afterwards..
Yes, it’s the same burst as the thief. However, it’s ranged! Plus, the ele still have acess to all the CC’s, healing, boons aaand he doesn’t need to run full zerg to hit hard.
Best of luck trying to get this community forum to understand all of these “low skill, high reward” builds. I have been trying to get people to understand the cheesiness of it for a while and all they do is mock.
Some people believe it actually takes skill to hit with grenades -_-….
Better yet, some still claim that a Shatter Mesmer is hard to play….I agree OP, things need to change to make this game better but I am doubtful at 8 months in for the change to happen.
That’s not it. Those builds may be ‘easy’ to play, but that doesn’t mean they are easy to play effectively. You can tell who is more skilled between two, lets say, BM Rangers, even if they are playing the same build. It’s an easy-to-pick build, but it doesn’t mean it’s easy to master.
However, the true problem with these called cheese builds, is that they are too good, even in the hands of a not so skilled player. And what’s even worse, they can actually shadow some trully hard to master builds! An ‘mediocre’ mesmer player may have better results than an skillfull zerker necro, thanks to the profession and build…
Are there pictures of this gear online anywhere? The PVP Gear wiki doesn’t seem to mention this set.
What is really impressive is that some people think that stealing 20 stacks of might is OP while being able to maintain it for 40 seconds, therefore giving the thief enough time to steal it, is completly fine. This community…
What about stacking stealth in combo field smoke? This community…
While doing no damage to anyone. Now that’s hella OP!
Oh, are you talking about stacking for your team? Those 5 seconds at the cost of all your initiative are game changing I’m sure. Inb4 make smoke field an elite, is so stronk!Initiative is a joke. Get initiative regen from traits/utilities and done. Not sure why I’m discussing this, there are lot of broken mechanisms that people just abuse.
Are you willing to trait for initiative regen, trading damage for it, just to stealth your team mates for a few seconds? And like I said, you can’t damage anyone in the process, else you get revelead.

No stealing 20 stack of might is not op.Being able to spam an ability that can steal 2 boon ,has evasion, cost only 4 ini ,is a gap closer, does good damage is the definition of something op..And people want this shared??! :S
This community..
It does a bit more damage than the sword 3rd auto attack, so I’d say it does OK damage. And not everybody want it to share, just one person posting in this thread.

The Assassin set can be crafted using:
Arcane Crystal + Free Tournament Token
Thats it?
Seems way too easy.
Is it random chance to craft it? If it is,is it low?
Yep, it’s that easy. To be more precise, the full recipe is:
1 Arcane Crystal + 1 Free Tournament Token + 1 Piece of gear you want (medium chest for example) + 5 Arcane Powder
And yes, it’s random but the chances are high. You can get 2 gears from medium armor using arcane crystals: either Assassin’s or Rugged. Since Rugged is critical chance, I’d say you are around 80% for crafting Assassin’s…
I can tell by your posts that you never played a thief. I’ll be short this time: create one, go to tPVP against a good premade and then come back here and delete this topic…
You can’t buy it with gems.
How can i get those items? can i use gem to buy?
Arcane Crystal:
- Obtain via salvaging random items from boxes, any box. However, silver and golden boxes’ items hold greater chances of dropping it.
Ex: salvage Rabbit/Deer/Doliak/Etc items from Cooper/Silver/Golden Box
There’s also a recipe to create it:
25 Arcane Powder + 25 Arcane Orb + 1 Arcane Crystal + 1 PVP Arcane Converter = 11 Arcane Crystals, if I’m not mistaken
Now, Free Tournament Tokens:
- Obtain via salvaging tournament items from tournament boxes.
Observations:
- The salvage rates are random
- Arcane Orb -> salvaging items from any box (great drop rate)
- Arcane Powder -> salvaging items from any box (great drop rate)
- PVP Arcane Converter -> Buy from NPC, 1000 Glory
- Tournament Box → You receive one if you win a tournament match
The Assassin set can be crafted using:
Arcane Crystal + Free Tournament Token
Last Refuge - Create a smoke field when your health reachs 25% (90 seconds cooldown).
Praise the lord, the skill is useless, no more!
“Stealth thief is OP”. Thieves finally use a non stealth based build.
“Evasion thief is OP”. Thieves can’t win :^T
Not directed at anyone, just wanted to add some pictorial evidence to the izerker’s issue. This happens roughly 30% of the time on a stationary golem in HotM.
And what exactly is happening?
G: Save Yourselves!
N: Well of Corruption!
G: Contemplation of Purity! You mad brah!?
An orb carrier can no longer stand at the edge of a capture point to capture it without scoring the orb.
I feel like I helped make this game better.
Now for team celebration!
1 – More diversity (builds/amulets/traits/weapons/weapon skills/utilitiy skills)
2 – More skins
3 – A way to make gold out off PVPThe third one would make no sense because there’s no gold sink in PvP.
True, but there’s skins you can only obtain through Gem Store or worse, the Trading Post (like the 200g halloween shield). Aaaand of course, dyes! We can get those via PvP, but the PVE dye rate vs PVP dye is abysmal.
And of course, if you suddenly wanted to WvWvW, how would you equip your chars if PVP is the only thing you play? Note, I’m not asking for some huge amounts like 4g per hour, but I think 50s/h wouldn’t be so unreasonable…

Zerk guardians are AoE dps monsters, but there’s a trade off: it’s slow and easy to avoid. No acess to swiftness = any dodge roll will leave your opponent out of your range. And since the range is so small, you need to setup your combos!

One possible build…
(edited by Asomal.6453)
The only thing wrong with SA is Last Refuge.Everything else is fine.
What I’d want in PVP:
-More skills for the same weapon set. Maybe 15 skills per weapon, and you’d chose how to build it. Like, you can either pick support / condition / burst / dps / mix oriented skills…
- More weapons for every class, overall (maybe not so soon)
- More options for amulet stats
- Split said trinkets into 6 minor pieces, more balanced builds (and not that min/max bs)
- A 4th utility slot
And finally (for what i can think for now)
- Better/more useful traits
. Elementalists for example, could have a ‘Cauterize’ trait in the fire line. “Cure 3 conditions whenever you swap into fire attunement”. A defensive trait in a offensive trait line!
- Get rid of trait levels (make stat lines more valuable)
. Make any trait pickable at 10/20/30 point. No more adept, master and grandmaster, you’d invest for stats.
Ok, one year and 2 weeks to be more precise (sorry for the slowpoke).
Post your very first screenshot your took from any of the Beta Weekends (no launch or any non beta related screen! We shall create a topic for launch screens when time has come…)
Now, now. That’s interesting! The dodge bar and the map were different from what we had today!
@to devs
Will the PVE backpack items be available as a PVP version in the future?
It goes all the other way round too. If I wanted a Super Weapon Skin (for pvp), I’d have to play the SAB, which is a PVE content. And the most recent example: the PVP Jetpack, that was only obtainable via PVE…
Just keep at it, I’m sure you can. There are more than 25 total achievements, so you have options on what you plan on doing. Every achievement counts towards it, so go do a few of them and you’ll be there before you know it.
Hey Robert! Will those backpack skins be available for PVP too, just like the weapons?
That suck balls. I haven’t played PVE since December, I’m mainly a PVP player. However, if I wanted the jetpack skin, I’d have to grind my kitten in Molten Facility. Why is that? Why do I have to play some mode (PVE) to get a skin for an entire different one (PVP)?
What makes it even worse, I could’ve run it 100 times and not get it at all! Now my only option is to buy from the TP. Right now, they are sitting at 200g with only a few available. And since PVP gives you zero gold, I don’t think i will ever get it…
Didn’t they say the jetpack had a chance to be a reward from tournament chests in PvP?
The fused gauntlets are, for sure. Now, I don’t recall anywhere, that the JP was included. The only person I saw with a PVP one, said he got it from the dungeon…

C. Birds don’t hit for 12k with Bunker build. They’ll pop you for 7k to 8k at most with the build, if you’re running full glass and in cloth.
Wow, wow, freaking just wow!! Do you really call that “balanced”!? You have a bunker spec dealing the same (if not more) damage than a pure glass cannon build.
And don’t even come with the excuse “oh but only hit that hard on GC nubs”. In the other way, they won’t hit you that hard. And that’s exactly what’s wrong with these super bunker builds!
They shouldn’t die so easily (1×1,2×1) but shouldn’t kill anything either! What we have right now, are those immortal ‘bunkers’ actually killing people, while it’s hard to take them down.
Now, compare the guardian/warrior/thief (forget the cap point)/engineer bunker vs the ranger and the old elementalist. You’ll won’t kill any of them alone, but they won’t kill you either, contrary to those OP bunker specs…
If he slipped through your fingers, then you didn’t in fact, outplayed him. Anyway, I’m guessing your problem is against Shadow Refuge users. For a ranger, either you aoe the SR’s circle with traps or melee attacks. You can also use your ‘hound’ pet to fear inside it, making the thief revealed…
Maybe you should remember that you have it traited, eh?
It’s the first minor trait in the Shadow Art trait line. Therefore you cannot not have it, if you are investing for more than 5 points…
And people do remember, but it suck balls when you are at 40% HP, try to use a C&D and suddenly you get into 25% before it lands…
You can make gold by selling dyes you get from chest or craft, but as a PVPer you have little need or much gold. Nothing there cost any gold anyway.
If you want more character slots the income form dyes should be sufficient.
Not true. There are several skins that you can convert for pvp that cost bazillions of gold. And that’s talking about the ones avaible in the TP (200g for one skin, anyone?). Now add that to the ones they are releasing on their gem store (600 gem per skin)…
According to arena net we are supposed to be the most mobile class in the game and yet we are the third most mobile class in the game behind ele’s and mes’s
Stop doing drugs. No class in the game even comes close to a Thief’s mobility, let alone a mesmer. Warriors and Eles can have similar “burst” mobility, but in sheer “warping all over the place” or long distance running, nothing beats a Thief.
I’m pretty sure OP is talking about in combat mobility. In that case, it stands truth for the mesmer, partially…
You are correct sir.
both wrong.
In-fight mobility = thief is champ
in run away race = warrior is champthis is just not up for debate bc its obvious. if you can to challenge a race. bring 100g and we will bet who is best/faster
i really hope somebody takes this bet!
Never denied the thief on that :P
Just saying mesmers aren’t “the slowest” class in combat.

A class who can heal damaging conditions and become invisible at the same time,
A class who can restart any fight at will,
A class with an impressive mobility and burst damage,
A class with the best escape mechanism,
A class with the best damage mitigation in the whole game, (stealth),
A class with almost no cooldowns and a laughable punishment for spamming a single key during the whole fight,
Yep… super hard to master, and it dies super easily…
By a huge margen, behind the warrior, is the most noob friendly class in the whole game… it just took me a couple of hours to master the basic, and a couple more to be more than decent,
Noob friendly != easy mode. The war and thief may be easy to get used to, but you’ll sure have a hard time in tPvP, different from say, playing a bunker guardian.

As if rank has a single thing to do with skill level. I know some r40+ Hot Join Heroes that I’d love to see you take on your team against me.
Rank has everything to do with skill level.
And rank has everything to do with QQ’ers. When I see people complain about BM Rangers and Orb runners. Chances are they are rank 20 < and haven’t perfected their own build to counter those pesky BM Rangers.
Meanwhile BM ranger: hmm, I’ll perfect my build to counter X build!
Nope, LOL.
