Don’t forget they can also stack 25 stacks of vunerability just by auto attacking with the nades. So that makes:

You: 25% faster, 750 power and condition damage
Enemy: 25% slower, 25% more chance to get critical hitted

I don’t get this obsession with new modes. Without a properly balanced game, new modes won’t do jack to change how happy people are with the pvp. And no, I don’t belive giving us new modes make those ‘obscure’ builds suddenly viable. People will keep playing the better cheese suited for that mode or roll the fotm, and the complains will never cease.

With just one mode avaible we get tons of complaint threads here, imagine with more than that. Had the game launched with other mode than conquest (say team deathmath), we’d have threads asking for conquest. It’s not the mode, it’s the balance/how fun the pvp is atm.

Now, this post doesn’t mean to insult OP or anyone here. I’m just getting tired of the same topic over and over again.

Only minor I can think of that is absolute garbage for thief is Last Refuge.

Just stop asking for more passive play!!
Do you want more speed run? Get swiftness or make a party with someone that can share swiftness.
All passive buffs should be removed from the game or drastically reduced.
Those runes should never have access to tPvP.

What kind of logic is that? Following that, almost every rune would be removed from pvp. Also, passive =/= bad gameplay or design.

HS already has a major counter/weakness. Poison. It effects it more then every other healing ability in the game.

Nerf Mace stun and your going to have to revamp the entire weapon.

Make Hundred Blades a Burst Skill and your going to have to do the same.

I’m sorry, but you keep spilling that all over the forums! Poison is a counter to every heal, it’s not exclusive to HS. Also, to really make it work efficiently, you’d have to spam poison fields as a thief, hoping it doesn’t get cleaned in the next 10 seconds or so (even then, their lost “healing potential”, wasn’t that huge).

The problem with HS,is its base and how it scales. You see, a 392 healing/s is not to mock, especially when you put Berserker’s builds in the equation. That’s probably the highest healing any profession can get, running a zerk decicated build. Hell, I’d even trade all the guardian heals, just to have it.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t think it’s super OP. The warrior indeed, need the sustain. But the base heal is far off right now. It needs to be toned down (the base) and make it scales better with healing power. That, and of course, fixing the Para Sigil, would cease most of these “warrior strong, remove warrior” shout outs…

Far from OP. I would even dare to say it sucks, compared to its sisters. Lets make a comparison, shall we?

Signet of Resolve x Shelter

- Signet of Resolve has a 40 seconds cd, heals for 8150 at lv 80, has a condition removal passive effect, if you are interrupted or dodge in midcast for some reason, it won’t go on full cd.

- Shelter has a 30 seconds cd, heals for 4500 at lv 80, doesn’t remove conditions, if you are interrupted or dodge in midcast, it goes on full cd without healing you a thing

And I don’t need to mention how signet is affected by traits, right?

So, it’s 2 seconds block really worth it for only 10 seconds difference on cd? I don’t think so, and I can’t understand why would anyone pick it over the signet.

If we consider farming servers, 250k truly isn’t hard to come by. But in the regular servers, it will take some time to get + the extra glory you will be spending to get the slivers and kits to salvage for tournament tokens…

If your graphics can’t handle the particles maybe PvE is where those players are better suited.

Top 5 questions asked and answered about gw2 before its release.
1) It will have no monthly fee.
2) It will have everything you love about about gw1, but more.
3) IT IS DESIGNED TO BE RUN ON MID MARKET MACHINES.
4) With no monk, all professions can roll all roles.
5) It will be ready when it ready.

So, the average machine with an ok graphics card shouldn’t struggle and need multiple render pipelines to simply accommodate all players particle effects, let alone animations.

So no, these players don’t belong in PvE because they are only running a good graphic card with dedicated 2gb cached memory.

I’m running twin video cards S.L.I (Both nvidia) and at times I watch my 60 F.P.S drop to 21 F.P.S and spaz out in 8 vs 8 spvp. That’s also with many options set to medium to prevent it from having issues chewing through all effects.

But it’s not a particles problem per se. You see, I have two different machines where I can play GW2: One with a Geforce 9600 and the other with an AMD Radeon 6950.

The AMD is superior, but both can run at the best specs with a slightly different performance. We don’t need less particles, we need better optimization for high end VGAs…

If you make them too exclusive that is a huge turn off to most people. On the flip side if they are common nobody will care. So it’s about finding a balance between skill and a time sink.

Here’s my take:

You need four pieces to craft your legendary, similar to the PvE ones. You need the precursor, and three gifts.

Precursor should just be simple. Just need X amount of glory to get. Lets say 500k maybe more.

Gift of Vanquishing- X amount of tpvp wins.

Gift of Ages- X amount of time in a certain percentage of the leaderboards.

Gift of Mastery- X amount of tpvp wins with all professions. So pretty much you need all the champion titles.

With all the gifts you stacks of pvp material of course.

So when you see someone with a legendary you know he/she is skilled and has also put a lot of dedication into PvP.

I like this idea, but I think 500k is too excessive. Maybe we should go with something like this:

Precursor – 200~250k
X gift – 50~100 tournament tokens
100~200 sliver
250 arcane powder

Maybe it’s not too late. What do you think? Should they be added? Do we need “more epic skins” as a motivational force, even if it comes with more particle effects, pony bows? Are skins only are enough motivation at all?

Yes.

If we are at skins, there are many weapon sets you can’t have in PvP or can’t make gold to buy the skin on TP.. they should solve this instead, but maybe that’s just me.

Well, why not both? If we are going for legendaries, we might go for every other skin that doesn`t exist in pvp, as well…

Guardians, Elementalists and Mesmers need at least one viable high damage build

B-but they already have! They just get out shined by the condition meta, which doesn’t mean they are not viable.

Mesmers, Elementalists, Thieves, Necromancers and Warrior needs at least one viable Bunker build which will be competitive in high end arenas.

Dunno about cleric Ele’s now days, but I’m fairly sure a Warrior can go bunker with the Signet of Healing buff (+banners heal & buffs). Thieves will never be able to bunker, thanks to their defensive trait tree been bonded to stealth. The Necro and Mesmer point is a given though…

Chess is a crappy tactical turn based RPG developed by a bunch of monkeys.

Right away you’ll notice Chess has no storyline. Instead, all you notice is the the White army and the Black army are fighting each other over a battlefield. Note the “a battlefield,” because Chess only has one story map.

As for the actual combat, it’s extremely dull. Each unit can kill another with only one hit. This means units with a real good movement ability dominate the field (more on that bellow). There aren’t even any combat animations or anything that happens in combat. One unit moves on it’s space and “captures” it, and the piece is removed from the game with no form of action or special effects.

Yawn.

Chess has kittenty class balance. The Queen is flat out overpowered while your actual front line units, the Pawns. can’t do kitten. I think the developers were afraid that no one would use the female character so they buffed up her abilities really high but now theres no point in using any other unit.

The rest of the units suck. Rooks can only move in 4 directions, same with Bishops. Boring. Also, whats up with the Knight? It has the most bizzare combat abilities of all the units. They’re kittenly hard to use cause they jump around like kittens to move and attack. The devs should have named this unit Ninja, since Knights didn’t jump around like that in real life.

Worst part, is the king. You see, the devs decided that if your king gets captured, you instantly lose the game. W-T-F? This wouldn’t be a problem, except that he can’t move for crap. Seriously, the most important unit in the game can only move 1 space a turn? Good luck keeping him alive while every other unit in the game dances around him.

Unbalanced classes, lackluster gameplay, and not to mention repetitive 1 hour+ games. Chess is not worth the time or your money.

This is l2p. Thieves are still and always will be wildly overpowered. Engineers are Anet’s kitten child swept under the rug and forgotten. They’ve got zero viability and have to play predictable roles that you can easily counter if you know how they work.

I have yet to see a new rune/sigil/skin from PVE added to PVP. The only thing we get from this department every update, is the gemstore/event skins. Hell, we don’t even have acess to the bank at the mists.

Hard To Catch

Hard to Catch is pretty neat against heavy CC users, like Skullcrack warriors. But the fact that it’s a GM trait, make it hard to allocate it in any competitive build. Still a good trait for alternative/for fun builds…

Actually, there are a few themes that could make awesome PvP maps. Just ones that comes in my mind right now:

- Divinity’s Reach theme
- Flame Legion theme / Volcanic theme (with lava surrounding it)
- Silvary / Twilight Arbor theme
- Asura’s Lab theme (like CoE)
- Orr theme
- Adventure Box theme
- A “dark/night map”. Just like that fractal stage, where you need a torch to cross the snowstorm.
- A fully underwater map (when it’s balanced)
- Ascalon Catacomb dungeon theme (best dungeon design ever)

All CEs listed there can be broke immediatly, except one, Launch(Blowout).

Launch(Blowout) simply launches you on the air and pushes you a little farther. Contrary to the other CEs, Launch can only be broke when you character lands on the floor. That said, even if you use a stunbreaker immediatly after you are launch, you won’t break it’s effect. It only works if your character is fully motionless on the floor.

Perma revealed all the way babe! I mean, I CAN’T EVEN USE MY COMBO TO APPLY CONDITIONS! It would be no problem, actually a walk in the park, if it didn’t have the freaking timer, dropping me off the arena every kitten time! It already disrupts condition specs, but when you remove the only way a profession can apply those conditions, you make it impossible to do it. And no, I won’t respec just for the sake of this stupid challenge.

Oh, and before I forget, even if you manage to kill one of the pirates (especially the one that heals them all), every single one of them heals all the way back! So Anet doesn’t want me to use my single target conditions (P/D Cnd+Sneak combo) nor my AOE conditions (Caltrops and SB). GG

I love it, one shotting means you cant fail, and i love it that way (and that it happens often). Also she do normal atacks.

One shot also means your build is unimportant. Why run something like toughness/vitality/condition damage if you are going to die regardless? It’s all zerk or nothing (also there’s the timer, to screw condition specs even more).

Why do you guys keep saying that a thief can easily “reset” a fight? You only reset a fight when you are out of combat. When a thief is invisible, he’s still on combat, thus not reseting the fight. Just like to point the misuse of the word, as a newbie can read it and actually think that stealth resets combat.

Furthermore, invisibility is far from OP, especially in tPvP. There’s no such thing as a good 1×1 spec focused on stealth. If you are constantly going invi, you are not contesting a point, automaticaly losing the game, period. Even if you manage to kill the defender after a 2 mins fight, the damage has already been done and your team is behind score points.

As for SR: yes, it’s pretty good but not really a must. Some thieves just prefer to run something else, like SOA, Roll for Initiative,Shadow Trap, etc.

That would be broken against mesmers in general, so no. What could really work is: pets/AI chars don’t interrupt your downed heal. That way only direct player’s attacks would do it. No more bs pet/ai stopping your from rallying while their owner is doing something else.

With the introduction of the most recent update, the Bazaar of the Four Winds, some things became very clear:

  • PvErs are being favoured over PvPers
  • ArenaNet is forcing PvPers to PvE in order to get rewards for PvP
    (This last topic was obvious for a long time)

Phantasms specs got absurd buffs and are one of the strongest specs in the entire game.

Anyone who says otherwise is seriously just talking out their kitten and crying about an incredibly minor change in comparison to the buffs that they just got.

This. God, I hate die hard mesmer players. It’s like they don’t even realise how powerful and lame this class is.

Ricochet works better with P/D now. Add Signet of Malice buff and maybe the new torment thing (and of course DB for D/D users). Maybe we have a new condition meta? (I doubt, people are stubborn when it comes to changing builds :P)
