They’re also ruining sword. The only reason for most people to play it was the fact that they could teleport a lot. From 10th of december you’ll see thieves using Infiltrator’s Strike – getting stun-locked and unable to use Shadow Return. In other words, they’ll appear and be insta-killed. W2G ANet.

Lordrosicky, a necromancer thinks S/D thief will be amazing after Dec.10

I want to have whatever he’s having lol. He is definately losing that bet.

Also, the S/D is fairly good now days, but I wouldn’t say it’s amazing or OP. Sure, I can easily kill some specs like Elementalists, Mesmers and any zerg build that isn’t a Warrior. But against any other build? Pff, it’s pretty kitten annoying having to jumping in and out for 1 minute just to burn and shut those super bunker builds that can hit you back as hard as you hit them (via conditions or power). After Dec. 10, yeah. There won’t be any reason to play S/D anymore

And the effort required to get pve skins is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING REMOTELY as difficult as getting pvp skins. So according to entirely what anet has posted you can effectively pay gold for skins in pvp as long as they’re carried over from pve.

Can you clarify that for us please?

I really would like a dev to respond that. If it’s true that any skin can be converted from PVP to PVE and vice-versa, and gold will be the universal currency, then what was the point on getting skins on PVP? On converting them to PVP? Pratically every skin can be obtained in PVE within less time than you’d get in PVP. Also, it’s worth note that some skins are easier to obtain in PVP than in PVE (Arah Set) and that would completly moot the point on running this dungeon, when you can get it easier on PVP.

If this is how things will work, I think both parties would be kitten ed (PVE and PVP). The only way I can see it working, is with the obtainment of exclusive PVP sets into PVE (we have some already). Much like we had to get exclusive PVE skins into PVP, from playing PVE (Molten Jetpack, Jade skins…).

My thoughts, exactly. I guess if I’m playing my thief and I see a Necro/Mesmer with the new skills, I’ll just run.

if you hit us for 1-100k we will only be able to heal for 300 and damage you for 350.
you should be able to burst us down or hit us hard enough so that this heal will be ineffective.

That would be the case, if I were playing anything bursty. What about S/D, S/P, P/P and P/D builds? It’s already hard enough to burn all the necro’s HP + deathshroud if you are playing of one these specs and having to constantly avoid or clean conditions

This is starting to rise into the realms of the surreal. All these details cannot be accurate. What you’re describing is blatantly garbage – an indie developer wouldn’t let this pass QA. I’m not even making a dig at ANet, I’m honestly convinced something has to be wrong here (or this is an early build of the ability, etc…), because as described, this skill is provably worse than our current options in nearly every single way.

You should check the Necro and Mesmer ones:

Signet of Vampirism [&BwJVAAA=]
- 320 HP per hit on you aaaaaaand you deal 300 hit back GG

Signet of the Ether [&B/ZUAAA=]
- FUT THE WUK? 800 HP WITH 3 ILLUSIONS!? Lets hope it’s not per second

We are being trolled, obviously, especially with the Warrior heal.

The Warrior one seems doable. Just do the same thing you would against an Abaddon ult: don’t attack. The Necromancer on the other hand. Am I suppose to kill a necro now or just run? It’s already a pain to kill a necro, and now they can be even more tankier…

I’ve neen mulling it over.

It said 5 stacks, so will activate on the next 5 attacks.

Pros:
1) 5 attacks with 5 decent heals can give you some sustain.
2) With venomshare your team gets 5 attacks each giving them a decent sustain in a fight which in a big burst fight could spell victory.

Cons:
1) 45 second cooldown.
2) Venomshare is a top tier ability, and replaces the heal in stealth, which is a superior healing ability solo.
3) Venomshare with healing does nothing if you’re solo.
4) If you can hit someone 5 times consecutively without being evaded/blocked etc, then theres’s a good chance that person will be dead anyway.
5) Anything venom related needs trait points invested for it to be worth taking as other abilities are just far superior. All the other classes heals seem to be independent.
6) If 2 venom strikes take you to full health, unless you’re taking damage, those other 3 are wasted. It’s basically an all or nothing.
7) If you are on low health, would you rather use a healing skill which guarantees a heal, or one which meant you had to stay in combat, with the chance of taking more damage, whilst not being able to land a hit to activate the heal.

Hmmm….more cons, but then again i am jaded.

Nice said. So, if I got this right, if you miss all the 5 attacks = no heal for you. The only useful thing about this skill, is healing your team with venom share (supposedly their attacks also heals them). I guess the Ninja Nurse build is going places.

Meanwhile, other professions (except our Ele bros)…

Water Spirit: Spirit. Summon a water spirit that grants nearby allies a chance to heal when attacking. Aqua Surge: Heal yourself and cause your water spirit to heal nearby allies.
More passive bs autoattack for AI build

Signet of Vampirism: Signet Passive: Siphon life from enemies that strike you. Signet Active: Mark an enemy. Allied players will steal life from that enemy.

-Signet of the Ether: Signet Passive: Heal yourself based on the number of active illusions you control. Signet Active: Heal yourself and refresh all phantasm skill recharges.

-Litany of Wrath: Meditation. Heal yourself. For a brief time, you heal each time you strike an enemy, based on a percentage of damage dealt.
Seems excellent for DPS guards, but this is pure power creeping

-A.E.D.: Gadget. Activate your A.E.D., enabling the system to heal you after a brief period of time. If your health drops below 1%, you are healed for a massive amount and your A.E.D. is deactivated. Static Shock: Use your A.E.D. to stun an enemy.
It could be OP or pure trash

-Arcane Brilliance: Arcane. Blast the target area, hitting foes with critical damage and healing yourself. Healing effectiveness is increased per target hit.
I don’t get this skill. Why do you want a fragile class to get near your enemy to achieve more heal?

-Skelk Venom: Venom. Your next few attacks heal you.

-Defiant Stance: Stance. Absorb all incoming strikes for a period of time. All incoming attacks heal you.
Same thing as engie. Either trash or OP

You guys got me thinking: since last data mine, we know that legendaries are included in the game and have PVP versions. However, we do not know how it will be implemented and how we could obtain them. After reading this blog entry, I’m kind of afraid that those are probably skins converted from PVE, which means the only way to get a PVP legendary, is to get it from PVE…

I think the match making is worse than before. After they announced the double chest prize, I decided to farm some on soloQ. I didn’t really play soloQ since it was release, so mind you, I wasn’t ranked. So far so good,I must have played 70~90 matches and managed to get into top 300 NA. I would say the system was working before: I rarely played 4×5 matches, and the teams seemed even (always enjoyable matches). Even losing, I wouldn’t drop an abysmal rate, I always could get back to my previous spot.

Now, after the reset, I managed to get into top 300 again, after 5 wins in a row. However, after one lost (4×5 with low ranks), I dropped to 25%. I mean, wtf. I shouldn’t be forced to match with and carry, people that low on the ranking. And it gets harder to carry your team, the lower you are. There needs to be a matching range, even if it takes more time to set up a match…

Use#2: Actively reacting to move out of 1shot skills such as baiting out shatters and air bursts, dodge burning speeds phoenixes eviscerates earthquakes earthshakers, etc.

Use#3: displace yourself from a CC. A thief is still a thief, get hit by one Doom and you’re already loaded up with enough conditions to kill you twice over. One Earthshaker and you’re half hp about to eat another knockdown and knockback for the other half. A smart player will attempt to bait the thief back to his shadow return point and CC him there for the 1hko. Unfortunately ANET wants to dumb down their game even further apparently throwing any sort of strategic thinking out the window.

That’s something I don’t get. If Anet really wants thieves to use SR to avoid burst, then adding 0.25s cast time isn’t helping at all. Making SR unusable while stunned (not adding the cast time), would be enough to fix #3. But apparently, they also wants thieves to #2. However, adding a 0.25s is not only fixing #3 but nerfing #2 at the same time. Even if you had a 0.15 reaction time, you’d need 0.4s to disengage (barely enough to dodge a Skull Crack)

I don’t think so. In fact, would be neat if Anet would list the possible drops or methods to obtain certain items. Like, Spirit Chalice (focus). How do we get it?

The game is disgusting atm. What’s the point of playing power builds at all? Even if I land all my skills, chances are the opponent will be healing it all the way back. Then proced to unload kittenloads of conditions (that doesn’t matter If i clean, since they can reaply after 5 seconds)/CC, chose your cheese…

Some conditions have secondary effects..Poison, weakness, vuln…Thats what cond should do….A 800 tick burning is crazy.Conditions should be feared not for the dmg but for the debuffs they bring..Thats pressure….A 600-800 ticking burning combined with some stacks of bleed is totally bursting you down

I completly agree. Conditions should be about utility, not damage. For an attrion mechanic they are labeled, they sure burst you down pretty fast when some classes can mindless spamm them. Imo, they should change those:

- Poison: reduce healing
- Burn: remove boons, does lilttle damage
- Torment: remove it from PVP
- Chill: needs to be more acessible

All the rest is fine. The only damaging conditions should be bleeding and confusion.

I’m sure that the thieves community would agree on replace this trait for something else. Nobody likes to get revelead right after they use CnD (or stealth combo), because of Blinding Powder…

I though that everyone would be absolutely thrilled to get a +33% boost on the Initiative-reg.

Apparently, the attitude on this Thief forum is little else but pessimistic and vile.

Sure they “nerfed” Initiative-gain from Traits, but that’s fairly well balanced out by the initial initiative regeneration increase!

And the Vigor nerf was seen by other Professions, but now we’ve it easier to use evades from out Weapon skills!

I actually like Hard to Catch. Sure, many people won’t use it ever, but for my sPvP P/P build that I use for fun, it’s pretty helpful. With the insane amount of CC’s we have in hot join, this trait is pretty helpful, considering I run with 1 stunbreaker only. Now that Anet might nerf sword, maybe Hard to Catch gets some love.

The GM trait make it not worth, imo. Master was the perfect fit, for the 0/0/30/20/20 P/D builds. Since they are nerfing the vigor traits, might aswell try 0/0/30/30/10 or 10/0/30/30/0 condition builds, with Signet of Malice…

Hmm, it seems that “distant keybind” you mean keyboard 6,7,8,9, right? You can reselect your hotkeys in the option menu to fit your style. It’s up to your, but I like to use:
6 = C (next to dodge V)
7 = R
8 = T
9 = Shift (For stunbreaks. Pretty straight forward, if you had played a FPS,where shift is run or crouch)
Elite = mouse side button (if you don’t have one, I recomend middle button)

An equally skilled warrior will always out perform a dps guardian so again I don’t understand a lot of what people are sayg. There are different skill levels. Sure you can play a dps guardian and you can do fine as long as you are better then the people you are playing or your team over-all is better. But you can’t snap your finger and change the rules of the game. If your goal is to be as effective as possible against the best you shouldn’t play a dps guardian even if you are doing well just know if you were playing a dps warrior as well you would be doing better. It’s not rocket science.

And plus I hate when people do not post anything productive to the OP because that is NOT what we are even discussing. We are trying to help anet imrpove us not compare it to other classes. He is right, you know. There’s nothing to improve about DPS guards, they were fine before and they are even better now. The thing that makes them seem like a weak or problematic build, is that “everything” else is out of control in this game. Take those condition spammers, AI and CC builds away, and the guardian will do just fine, like the S/D elementalist, another spec some people thinks needs a buff. It’s not the build per se, but the awful balance we are getting since ever. And no, I don't think power creeping the guardian should be the solution

(zerk)DPS Guards are descent, but they get outshined now days. Why run one when you can get better results as a warrior? Seriously, they have more HP, more HPS, pratically the same damage as you, more CC/conditions and can remove conditions easier. It’s just way better to give it up for a guardian. Sure, it provides better support but if you roll into that, you are giving up on damage, meaning you didn’t need to go zerk in the first place.

I’m not saying they suck, in fact, it’s my favorite spec. But with warrios and necros stomping their way on pvp, there’s not much a DPS guard can do to counter those…

By the way, have you guys tested the Runes of Speed? It’s pretty fun and makes Judge’s Intervention dispensable for mobility

As far as Im concerned, it’s and stuck animation bug (when using a movement skill). See:

It’s the same thing but instead of you cancelling your animation, it’s done by some other factor (or by you, accidentally). The way to “break” it, is using some movement animation skill like Whirlwind, Leap of Faith, Rocket Boots, etc. Blink / Shadow steps won’t work though…

There’s a huge cliff though. That’s how every ‘blink’ skill works. Just having the line of sight won’t do the trick. If i’m not mistaken, the game needs to find a “walkable path” on a certain range for it to work. Imagine for instance, that this huge curvy rock isn’t there, but a clear walkable path. On this case, the skill should work just fine…

This also happens with the engineer skill Rocket Boots. Not all the time, but after the initial ‘jump’, when it comes to the straight dodge roll, it sometimes goes into random directions, at least in sPvP…
