I played Guild Wars 1 for 4 years and there were times i didn’t log on for several months at a time then I would start up again. It’s not unlikely that I might stop playing this game for a few months then restart. I wouldn’t want to lose all the character names I have invested so many hours on.

I think people coming back to find they have lost their character names would discourage many from restarting, especially if it happened more than once.

Yep. My female Norn necro has that face mask. It’s my favorite. It might only work on Norns. When I tried to move one to a Sylvari necro it only colored an area on the temples a little.

Since ANet said they expected people to fail this for days to weeks before the first success, then surely they were also expecting this event to be eventually abandoned except by certain guilds on certain servers, just like the karka queen is mostly abandoned. They had only to look at that event to predict the future of this one.

What this means is, to have any hope of doing this event you need to be in the right guild at the right time on the right server and the right overflow and have the right amount of play time to do it. Not everyone is going to meet these requirements. After all, guilds, maps, and overflows are limited in size and can’t take everyone. Not everyone can be on when the guilds are doing it that one time per time period on the guild’s schedule. Not everyone can devote the hour plus time it takes to do this one event on their limited play time.

Now all they need to do is remake Jormag and Shatterer in Tequatl’s image to complete this picture of abandoned events.

There would be a problem with email and whispers also since its cross server. Now, as long as you know the character name you can email/whisper them. If names were unique to a server only, then there may be multiples with the same character name. This would force the email and whispers to be either addressed to account name only or restricted to the server.

For example, lets say you do a dungeon run with Player X and you want to do more. You type Player X in your friends list and multiples of that character show up. Which one did you want? Non unique character names brings up multiple problems.

Possibly you can’t sell it because it’s a gem store item.

I can’t think of anything you can buy with gems that you can sell. It’s all account bound iirc. Maybe this is still account bound even if it doesn’t say so.

Yeah. I got mine accidentally by crafting. I happened to look one day and there it was. And I know I didn’t get it by staying in one map long enough and not dying.

Did you change maps at any point? That will reset your progress. (So players can’t abuse it by switching to another map when they’re about to die.)

Which poi are you seeing that you can’t get to?

I wish they did reward for doing 100% on all the maps each time you do it on an alt. Maybe it would pull more people into the maps doing area completions on alts. To keep people from farming low level areas it could wait till you ding 100% total and get your star before you get the AP rewards.

If you are in a guild, perhaps you can make some sort of guild web page to use for needed communication. You can share any information you want there.

Why would you want to hand out contact information to thousands of people who you don’t know and who may be mental or criminal?

I usually wait until I get 20 rares to salvage. At that amount RNG tends to average out. If you just do a 2 or 3 at a time, the runs where you don’t get any are obvious and painful. I haven’t noticed any decreases when I salvage 20 at a time.

I have fully exo’d 8 level 80s. That part was ok and the amount of effort was within acceptable range. But then you add ascended trinkets. At one laurel a day, a person with one toon will outfit it far more quickly than a person with alts. Even with guild commendations and WvW badges, mine only have 2 or at most 3 trinkets after a year. A person with a main could be fully outfitted. When you throw in WvW restrictions, fractal restrictions, the time it will take to outfit 8 chars in ascended weapons and armor as opposed to only one, it’s very alt unfriendly,

If you just run around in PvE land doing care bear stuff it’s not. But once you set one toe outside that it’s very alt unfriendly.

In general, you are supposed to report in game and the best time is when it happened. Reporting through a support ticket is not normally the way to do it as they will then need to search for the correct game logs. In this particular case, if it was me, I would use a ticket since the incident will be several days old and they will have to search for the game logs anyway. This way you can give details as to the date, time and map.

However the person you are talking about probably got a suspension already. When they reviewed the chat logs when you were reported, they would have seen the other players remarks also. In addition, Gaile said on your thread that the players name was being reviewed already.

They need the stylist like in Guild Wars 1. You talk to the NPC and a character creation like screen appears. From there you can make all the changes and preview them all. Then if you wish, you purchase the changes.

Several times I have considered making changes but didn’t as I couldn’t preview them and didn’t want to buy a kit without a preview. In Guild Wars 1, I made changes several times after previewing the options.

Maybe they made a gem store item because of all the threads with people asking for a gem store item.

If you want to do it, I recommend you get into a guild that specializes in this. You will have to guest to another server probably.

Ummm. You know you can report that name and he will have to change it. ^^

Ok. The account restoration is after account recovery. You recover (get your account back) then get restoration (return it to the state it was before the hack).

So, update your original ticket. Tell ANet that you want an account restoration.

They will return your account to a time and state it was before the hack, returning all your items, gold and any deleted characters. You will lose any progress, items or gold made from today and the restoration so it’s best not to play until its done.

You will probably lose a little bit. As an example, lets say the restoration restores you to 2 days before the hack. You will not get back anything from those 2 days, just up to the restoration date.

This, account restoration, will only be done one time so make sure your computer is clean and kept clean. If you get hacked again, you will get a recovery but not a restoration.

If someone says something to you, you don’t need to respond in such a way that you breach TOS. You report and then block. If you do respond to comments you don’t use language that gets you in trouble. That’s all it takes to never be suspended.

The champ farm is irrelevant.

So, you got hacked. Items were stolen. You contacted ANet, asked for an account restoration and got all your items back through the account restoration. And now you were hacked again and lost items again. This is what I am understanding you to be saying.

ANet doesn’t normally give second account restorations, only one. You can update your ticket and ask again but the odds are low to zero.

What you do need is makes sure your computer is clean because if you got hacked again, it isn’t.

It’s a little hard to tell if you already got an account restoration. You said everything was restored successfully and then you said you only reset the password and removed networks. Dd you already get one?

If you already got an account restoration then it sounds like your computer is not yet clean, you should do another security sweep and also look for a keylogger.

If you haven’t yet gotten an account restoration, update your original ticket to ask for one after making sure your computer is clean.

Lets say you went to a store a year ago and bought something. A year later the store sells a different version of it. Can you go there and say, I bought product X a year ago and therefor you should give me product Y for free?

This is probably what happened then. He probably was filling out a ticket and got to a question asking him the character name and that stopped him because he couldn’t remember so he went to the forum.

OP, if this is what happened, just put unknown in that space and continue with the ticket. It’s not necessary for you to know a character name to retrieve an account.

To be honest I find it sad that thief is the only class with no possibility for 1200 range. We use to have cluster bomb but apparently that was a bug… At least should make it that if you trait in it it has longer range (either short bow or pistol).
Well I guess this is the stealth curse.

I suspect they don’t want to give maximum range to a class with both stealth and high mobility. That they wanted this class to be a close range class for balance reasons.

When starting out I used bear/bear. A new player can get both in the Norn area. The polar bear is in Hoelbrak and the brown bear is at one of the first hearts.

Personally I use the fern hound and Krytan drake hound for general PvE. They do fair damage and I love their knockdown. I switch to spiders or devourers for something like the Scarlet events where ranged pets seem to live longer.

If he had his account stolen and the person deleted all his characters, would knowing the characters name mean anything? The names are only held for 24 hours. After that they conceivably have been taken by other accounts. So, still, he shouldn’t need a character name to get an account back. For example, I have a character named Player X. My account gets stolen and afterwards the name Player X gets taken by another account. If I tell support my character name was Player X, I don’t think that would help them.

As long as you don’t crash the server, I can’t see anyone caring. It’s not like there is a line in TOS saying don’t mess with the preview codes. ^^

Edit; I’ve seen threads on information from data mining, the only one I’ve seen closed was a thread discussing data mined unreleased patch notes.

Good question. They are in the jewelry area and they hold exquisite jewels like the other jewelry but they break like armor. Do the underwater helms break? I don’t think they do. I don’t recall ever seeing a broken one. Maybe those can’t break for some reason so they made backpieces break in its place so you get an additional chance before you get broken armor. Just speculating. ^^

To make it accessible to armor dye, would they have to code it as armor? And would that make it clash with the helms? There may be a reason why they have it separated out the way it is.

Think of hair as of another helmet with two colorable areas, that we can’t unequip, unless we swap it for another helmet. Those are all swappable meshes. Same would go for the body and the underwear too.
My idea of making this work would be disabling the hair color area for the player, but enabling the hair accessory area, available for dyeing while the helmet is removed.

This is not impossible to add, it partially exist in the game already as you see in the character creator, but would require remaking the hero panel. I’m not sure why we can’t have this option, again, saying “gem store” would give you some idea of why not, though.

What your saying sounds interesting, the hair as a swappable helm. But there are helms that show the hair. For example masks fit over the face and leaves the hair uncovered. Which makes me think the game doesn’t see them as a helm. So maybe they can’t use the hair area as a helm since it would clash with real helms.
