The respawn rate was fast but fine for the start of the game. Now it discourages solo players from doing content. If mobs respawn only a few seconds or immediately after they are killed, it makes it very difficult to work your way thru a densely populated area. You can get into a cycle of not being able to move on if you are constantly killing the same mob, unless you break combat and just run past. That’s what I ended up doing today. I needed a point of interest. With Guild Wars 1, I would have worked my way thru the mobs. In this game, I used a speed buff and ran in and ran out. And the reason why is that it feels futile, as well as hazardous to your health, to solo fight your way thru an ever respawning crowd. If you try to take it slowly you can get overwhelmed by old mobs respawning on top of you while you are fighting new ones. The respawn timer needs to be dialed down to take the lower population per zone into account.
Just wait till you start doing kills using a torch. I tried sword/torch and killed a number of mobs, none of them counted. Unlike the other weapons, it requires good timing to hit the target with the torch right when it’s about to die. Too soon and it doesn’t count and then your skill is on cooldown.
Agree with request for a makeover kit. I made my Mesmer in haste and now I’m repenting at leisure.
Your friend’s list tells you if someone signs on? How do you set it to do that?
Potions could be changed so they allow costume brawl, or an NPC that allows you to select a costume brawl form could be placed in LA. As to why allow them to act as an armor skin, it gives you more customization of your character. Some of the costumes they already have in the gem shop would be awesome as armor, like the pirate costume or the cook outfit on a Sylvari which is leafy.

I would like the game to have Guild Wars 1 system.
1) an NPC who stores your costumes for you and generates as many as you like for free so all your toons can wear that costume if you want.
2) it goes over your armor, so it can be worn in combat or out without affecting your stats.
3) it had an auto toggle so it automatically switched in town or combat area to what you wanted to wear, either costume or armor.
The system they have now is inferior to the Guild Wars 1 system.
This would be a very nice feature. Most people have stopped naming their pets and it’s a shame. Would it be that difficult for the game to save the names on our own computers so it doesn’t take up space on the Guild Wars 2 data base?
When I first read about crafting, way back when, I thought crafting town clothes would be an option since had I read about crafting jewelry (I didn’t know jewelry had stats). I think being able to craft town clothes would be interesting. Maybe make the recipes buyable from a vender but expensive so the crafters could make money off of making them.
Agreed on this. It would make it easier to join up with guild members without having to make a formal party. Now you can tell what map they are in, but not where in the map. If it was made more informal, people would be more likely to meet up in the maps.
I would like the waypoint costs reduced also. I am trying to save up money for the things I need and now, if I see someone in chat asking for help, it makes me stop and consider my funds before I go. Many times now I just ignore people wanting help over chat once I total up costs to get there, possible armor repair costs, and cost to waypoint back to where I was. And from what I’ve read, I’m not the only one. High waypoint costs stop people from being social.
You are limited to the number of bank slots you can buy. However you can always make a guild with just yourself as a member. You can buy influence, iirc1 gold for 500 influence, and get storage that way. You can get up to 200 slots that way and you can make as many guilds as you like. However you can’t put account bound or soulbound items in there.
The weapons available give a choice of long range, medium and melee. It would be nice to be able to use all 3 options in one fight with 3rd weapon swapping. I think it would make combat more fluid and interesting. Also, if the other professions had a 3rd weapon set, it would make it more feasible for elementalits and engineers to have weapon swapping in combat.
I would double check first to make sure it’s still doable. There was a cutoff point and I think it’s past that. As to the amount of time, doing it solo starting with a level one toon to get 30 points in the HoM would probably take several weeks of gameplay. Some titles take a LOT of money and some, like vanquishing all zones, are fairly labor intensive. If its still doable your best bet is to find a guild that is specializing in it.
A guild calendar would be very useful in organizing activities. The guild message is a little short and not everyone reads them every day. It would also be helpful if the guild message showed in chat when you log on, like it did in gw1.
An invisible bag will stop you from depositing them when you deposit all collectibles.
Sounds like a bug. I haven’t heard of other people with this problem before, maybe the last patch broke something.
It would be great to see your guildies in the whole map, not just WvW. If they are in the same area as you, it would make it easier to join up without making a formal party. It would be nice to see where different people are on the map. It would make it a lot easier just to hot join with a guild member.
Another great idea from Guild Wars 1 that’s not in the game. I can see why they don’t put it in PvP, as too many people would complain they need to know the class of the person they are fighting just by looking at them, but they definitely should allow it in PvE, just remove the costume based skills when you leave the city.
I agree 100% on the costume/hat NPC. They had one in Guild Wars 1, don’t know why they not have one in this game.
As for the minis, get an invisible bag. Whatever you put in there doesn’t get auto deposited. You may have to move mats out of there occasionally, but at least your minis stay with you when you deposit all.
The respawn rate does discourage exploration. You kill 5 or 6 mobs then they are all back by the time you finished with the last one. You remain in constant combat at one spot and can’t explore. If they slowed the respawn rate to something reasonable you could work your way thru them, explore the cave then leave before they come back. The respawn rate was fine at the start when everyone was packed into the same areas and everyone needed to kill the same mobs to level. Now that people are spread out across the game it needs to be slowed down to take in a account a lower per area population.
It would be nice to be able to zoom out more when just moving around, then quickly scroll back in for combat. This game does feel too closed in. You can’t enjoy your surroundings or see what’s around you as easily as in Guild Wars 1. I understand they did it this way for combat reasons but we should have the option to adjust the camera to our comfort level and just adjust it on the fly as needed.
Get an invisible bag and put your minis, or whatever else you don’t want moved, into that.
[Weapon set] slots for each weapon combi (out of combat)

This is a great idea. I frequently switch weapon sets between combat to keep fighting from getting stale or adapt to a new situation. It’s annoying though to have to stop what you are doing, open the Hero panel and rummage around, find and place the new weapon sets, then close Hero panel. It’s cumbersome. In Guild Wars 1 we had 4 weapon sets readily available. It’s a step backward to restrict us to 2 in this manner. At least allow us to switch easily when not in combat.
Why I am not enticed to buy costumes in GW2, but had ALL of them in GW1
Posted by: Astral Projections.7320
I completely agree with the OP. I bought every single one of the costumes in Guild Wars 1 and I have bought NONE of the costumes in Guild Wars 2. Unless ANet changes to the Guild Wars 1 system or better, I won’t be buying any as they aren’t worth it to me. 1) too restrictive in use. 2) they take up valuable inventory. I never even use the town clothes the chars came with. I’m not in town that much and I completely forget about them. For a person who loved to run around wearing different costumes, changing when I wanted, this is a sign of poor design. Whoever came up with this system doesn’t really know that much about Guild Wars 1 and what motivates people.
@Sahriah
The book skin is soulbound but if you speak to Magister Tassi on an alt, she will send you another Candy Powered Matter Meter to your mail and you can do the quest again.
In Guild Wars 1, I bought every single costume. I could wear it in town or in combat and store it with a special NPC when I didn’t want to use it. In Guild Wars 2, I have bought ZERO costumes and have no plans to buy any because of the restrictions on them. I really wanted the Mad King and the Witch costume but didn’t buy them. I am never in town except for a few minutes to meet with friends and decide what to do, then we leave. I don’t use even the town clothes that I originally got. Please make them like the Guild Wars 1 system
Make ground target AoEs a little easier to manage.

And make combat more fluid for everyone. I find it hard to do AOE spells while strafing. I have to stop, bring the mouse pointer over to the target, then use the skill. This feels very awkward and nonintuitive and causes me to try to avoid AOE spells.
I encountered this on a champion spider in a cave. About 5 or 6 of us were trying to kill it. We would get it to about half health, then it would become invulnerable and heal to full. It did this repeatedly until the event failed, then it disappeared. Very discouraging.
+100 for this.
I also want the makeover pack. I used it in Guild Wars 1 when I got tired of the way my char looked. Please add this ANet so I can throw more money at you. :P
ANet needs to adjust the drop rates on chili peppers, garlic, and vanilla beans on one end and walnut, cinnamon on the other. I have stacks of walnuts and cinnamon, which are barely used in recipes and zero chili peppers and some garlic. Vanilla beans I lucked out on by buying a stack before they were removed or I would be searching for them too. The drop rates for these 2 groups of items needed to be reversed.
Titles should be more visible, currently underwhelming.

Please make titles visible by mousing over someone. Who ever actually clicks on a person? This game is all about the showing off what you have and seeing what other people have. When I was idling in town in Guild Wars 1, I frequently moused over names to see what titles they were displaying. When someone gets even their first title they want to show it off. Please go back to letting us see the titles that other people are wearing.
Definitely need to show titles when you mouse over someone rather than clicking on them. This game is all about the showing off what you have. Also, the Fire God’s vambraces from the HoM needs to be on top of the sleeves, not under them. At this point if you are wearing long sleeves they don’t show.
I’ve heard the Mad King is still (un)alive and well. Hopefully with some new jokes.
The way I do it is to type their name into my friends list. You can then report on the name from there. I’m not sure what to select though when i report them. I usually select spamming.
When you go into the PvP training area, head across the field, I think north, to a tower with stairs. Go up those to a portal which will take you to the PvP lobby. The LA portal is visible across the lobby area.
Banners - Just because they are sparkly doesn't always mean pick it up
Posted by: Astral Projections.7320
I agree that either only the warrior or members of his party should be able to pick up banners. I stopped using them for that reason. I put them where I want them and invariably someone else comes along, picks it up and carries it away. it’s annoying.
How many golem bankers are we supposed to get? I have one for each toon I created (9) and it looks like I could get as many as I wanted by creating a toon, banking the item and deleting the toon. The wiki said we would get only one per account.
“A one-time bonus provided to owners of the Guild Wars 2 Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Editions.”
Each one seems to have its own 5 day timer. If this is deliberate on ANet’s part, it’s appreciated but I would like to know for sure before I make more of these.
