Corporations don’t have souls, and if Anet was any exception we’d still be on GW1.

What this product should do is attract a crowd of harpies anytime someone uses it in the open world. Then the seller NPC comment, “why should anyone want something that gives you harpies”?, would come true. ^^ Plus it would liven up the wait.
I played Guild Wars 1 for about 4 years and during that time I always had positive thoughts and emotions toward the company. They struck me as people who only had what was best for their players firmly in mind.
Sadly that is changing.
Gamble boxes (black lion chests) with a low rate of return are a cynical and heartless way of prying money from people who have poor impulse control, a tendency towards gambling addictions or more money than sense. No doubt studies have shown it brings in more money than straight sales, but there are things more important than money and integrity is one of them.
Every time ANet uses gamble boxes as a way to make money, some of the great respect I had for them slips away. Once you lose your customer’s respect, what have you then gained and how do you get it back? This underlying loss of respect makes the forums more acrimonious, mistakes made by the company are not forgiven and eventually there is bitterness and cynicism on both sides.

Truthfully I don’t see why we can’t have one event that runs frequently if the chest is now account bound. Not everyone is on for hours at a stretch. Let us have that one rare a day without having to camp some place 2 hours or more. We can then get it and go on to do other things.
I don’t mind paying for them but I WANT to buy them outright not go thru RNG. All the people who spend money on keys, sometimes 100s of them, just confirms to ANet that they have made the correct business decision.
It means you use money to buy keys and if you are insanely lucky you get what you want. If you have normal or bad luck you won’t. Three guesses which one most people are.
It seems to be either more than an hour or its variable. I arrived there last night shortly before it was supposed to start, and it didn’t. The timer started over and after about a half hour I left. So, it didn’t start in 90 minutes on that occasion.
@ WyldCFH: I think the confusion here involves the fact that when one of these chests drop, it’s essentially the same as a monster drop. It’s only yours and only you can see it.
I haven’t paid much attention to them since I usually pick up stuff before the monster’s body disappears (hence making the chest easily visible), but rares do still seem to be dropping in them. And that’s not just equipment, but also rare mats.
The case where my guildie called attention to a chest, it was because it wasn’t hers either. She saw it, couldn’t open it. Called me and the other party member over. The other party member saw but couldn’t open it. I could neither see nor open it. Possibly it belonged to someone in the same area that killed something, never saw the chest, and left.
It should be the same password. Make sure you aren’t making a typo when putting it in. If all else fails you might try contacting support and getting a password change.
Unfortunately there is some choosing as to who sees the chests or not. Just this evening my wife told me there was a chest at my feet. I couldn’t see it on my computer and she could on hers.
To remove hardware excuses I will say I run a GTX680 SLI rig and she runs a 2 year old laptop, where she gets 30fps on medium, I get 130 on max settings.
Somewhere something is wrong and the fact that this was moved from Bug section to players helping players is ridiculous. Just another sad showing on Anets customer service/tech support.
The chests do appear for some people in a group but not for others. I had a guildie say there was a chest on the ground. Went over and checked and could never see it. I have to assume it wasn’t mine since an option to open never appeared, but this is rather annoying.
I tried the chests before, got bit by RNG and that did it for me. RNG, too high. Key prices, too high. Value of contents, too low. The sooner the community as a whole learns this and stops buying keys, the sooner the prices will drop and they stop putting stuff in there and make them direct gem store purchases.
You would have to be very sensitive to be offended by Jigga. There are a lot of innocent words that have a random arrangement of letters inside them that spell out something. I guess the people who decide these things prefer to err on the side of caution but is does seem to be taking things a bit far.
its not just hell tho. my toon is named Torry Hellheal and i seen players with MUCH worse in their names. i personally think someone is just out to get me. cuz my other toon got same thing last week and it was “Jigga Say So” which i know 110% doesnt break TOS
My guess is its because the first 3 letters of your name is an old racial slur. (Try googling it) Not really used anymore, but there it is.

that was in the early 80’s and has been redefined by society into a positive term. it now has the same definition as swag
Obviously someone remembered and was offended. I have to admit, I had to stop and think about it. On the other hand, I have never heard of the new definition. And the 1980s is not that long ago for a lot of us.

Ummmm, me and my 2 storage guilds think this is an absolutely horrible idea. Anyway, those small guilds with just a few people aren’t bothering you. If they are happy, it’s no concern of yours.
They shouldn’t be brown for one thing, it makes them too easily missed. The few I have seen have been underwater where they are more visible. They should be a different, non ground color such as blue or purple or they should add sparkles to them. If I am getting these things on land then I am missing them.
Unfortunately words change meanings over time. My middle name is Gay and I bet I couldn’t use it as a character name since the meaning has changed over the years. Too bad about your character names, they were clever.
Two good places to put dodge are any key that you can easily hit with your thumb, such as the spacebar, or the mouse scroll button if your finger naturally rests there anyway (as a click).
My guess is the game would have trouble with the auto toggle on/off because the towns and explorable areas are not truly different from each other. In Guild Wars 1, the explorable areas were instanced and the town areas were not. In this game, the only difference is that mobs don’t normally spawn in town. Otherwise they are the same. The auto toggle needs a way to to “see” the difference between the two areas.
Try to target it once, then call the target (Ctrl + T)…. so if you lose your target because you right clicked somewhere you can go back to the original target pressing T.
Ahh, thanks for this idea. It can be very difficult to reacquire a target once it’s lost. It is frustrating hitting tab and clicking on the target trying to get it back.
Afaik, it’s there for anyone to pick up who wants it. I know I don’t care who uses the extra that manifests. That person probably had a party member who wanted it but its not reasonable to expect that other people will know of their private agreements. You waited a bit, no one else picked it up, it’s there for the taking. The ele should have just shrugged and gone on if it didn’t work out the way s/he wanted.
Some of those vistas can be hard. I found that putting my jump skill on the space bar so I can hit it with my thumb to really help me out. Also, a guildie with a Mesmer should be able to port you to the ones you can’t reach.
Not going for a legendary weapon at this time. I loathe the mystic toilet RNG. The grind is pretty bad, but acceptable. It’s the RNG that kills it for me.
It costs them too much money. Apparently they have to store the pets names on their servers. Taking up space that they don’t want to give.

This is actually not a bug, it is working as intended. It is not optimal, but to save the names of all of your pets (read: all of everyone’s pets) would require another large name database that ANet did not create. Currently the pet name feature saves the name in the slot, not the pet, so changing out the pet type resets the slot name.
Perhaps someday they will change this, but it is not a bug).
This is pretty much exactly what’s going on.
Tl;dr: we may change this some day, but it’s not going to happen in the near future, and it’s not a bug.

I’ve been doing that for all my toons. The yellow transmute stones are really easy to get and are worthless once you get to level 80. Might as well use them up.
I would like them to show up if you mouse over the person. That way they aren’t in your face all the time, yet are easily visible when you are idling in LA and looking at other people’s armor/titles.
Please consider the suggestion below. Your interface design is great, but I think we can do a little more to improve the ease of accessing and executing commands on the fly.
Below will help compress the 2 commands in one button and group the commands together making it easier to use one button to defend and attack on the fly during game play instead of trying to run through F1 to F3 all the time.
Press (F1) once = “Attack my target”
Press (F1) again = “Return to me”
- Above attack/defend command becomes easier to trigger and toggle.
Press (F3) once = “Guard Mode”
Press (F3) again = “Avoid Combat Mode”.
- Above becomes mode control toggle.
Stow Pet – (Simple solution)
Allow this command in the Key Binding Option Page. Let players bind it to a preferred key for ease of access.
F2 – No changes required.
Hopefully a developer will respond as I have tried every avenue I could to suggest this.

What if you want “attack my target” twice in a row without return in between? As I understand your suggestion, F1- attack target, target dies or for some reason you want to change target before it dies. Select next target, F1 again- pet runs to you instead of attacking target. Which means you have to double tap F1 then, once to call the pet to you then to send it out again. This seems to add an unnecessary and potentially unwanted step.

As for having characters based on other servers, it’s because some people would use that to grief WvW by spying for their main server or using up the other servers supplies.
As for the number of character slots, you can buy more with either real money or ingame money.
There is always guesting if you want to be on another server.

It’s puzzling why they set it up the way they did. It appears to have been set up as part of you, like your skin color or hair color, rather than as a type of armor. Which is probably why is not dyeable outside of character creation. To make it dyeable in game they would probably need to rewrite the code so that it’s a type of armor, but that may cause conflicts with the helms.
The other option, which they should institute, is free hair accessory dye kits you can get from a vender or the gem store. I say free, because I think this is a poor game design and people shouldn’t have to pay to correct it. Nor should they have to live forever with a color selection from the very start of the game. A selection that was both limited in options and that likely doesn’t match your armor later.
Roleplay with like minded friends? Norns as the parents and humans as children? Seems like that would be more fun than a few static quests that you can’t change.
I admit i’v always found it kinda funny how armor covers up so much detail. I run a sylvari and I can’t bring myself to cover up her hair, or skin/glow. yes we can dye are armor in amazing ways but it feels like a crime when you destroy those beautiful markings. lucky for me I found nice heavy set that shows off my characers back so people still get a good look at my glow/skin in the dark.
I’m at 25/30 in Hall of Monuments, and I need some help to get the last 5 points to get to 30!
Do anyone got any tip with what I can do? I know I should get the last remaining Hero Armour pieces for my heroes, but what else can I do?

Are you doing the war in Kryta daily missions where you can get war supplies which can be either turned in to get weapons for the HoM or sold for money? I haven’t played for several months now but feather farming was good money. Also farming for granite. A lot of the Zaishen missions gained good money. Also getting Zaishen keys to sell by doing PvP. Fiber farming might be worth looking into. Ecto farming in UW and Obsidian shard farming in the Fissure of Woe.
They would need to rework a number of skills to become useable underwater. More elite skills for example made usable. Why can’t the ele use the elite where you summon an elemental? Necros can summon their elite minion. Ranger traps could be made useful by making them a sphere around you for example. By reworking skills so they are at least useable underwater would make combat there more appealing.
