They should be able to go in an update your status. When I made myself a storage guild I didn’t give myself permissions. I sent in a bug report asking to be given leader status. It did take some time, but eventually I represented in to it to check and I had all the permissions. So, obviously they can do it.

Good luck on getting your guild back, this must be very frustrating.

I saw one that was stuck by a waypoint. It would rapidly appear and disappear. My group stood there for a couple of minutes trying to click on the name to report it but it wasn’t possible since it was rapidly flickering on and off the screen.

Maybe if there was a way to type the name, place and time into a report, ANet could find a bot from that and see the mechanics of how it operates.

We need a way to report them. Apparently they are moving under the map just to appear at nodes to gather. They are only there for a couple of seconds and then they are gone. They move to fast to click on them to file a report and for the same reason, you can’t get a screenshot as they appear and disappear randomly at a fast rate.

There needs to be a way to report with details such as a screenshot to show place and time with an explanation that it was where a teleporting bot was seen.

Listing price --> projected profit.

Perhaps I’m not looking in the right area but I just see the listing cost below the projected profit, I do not see a sales fee/cost. Also I see no reason that the listing cost should not be removed when calculating the projected profit, I want to know my “projected profit” I mean isn’t that the point of projected profit, so you can see how much money you will make from selling the items after fees? If it isn’t going to calculate it fully then why bother having projected profit there at all?

Oh heck, are you saying that the projected profit shown DOESN’T include the listing fee? I was basing my decisions to sell items on the projected profit because, silly me, I thought the projected profit was the projected profit. Not the projected profit before the listing fee is taken out. This means that items that I thought were just marginal before, were probably under vender price. WHO THOUGHT OF THIS?

The most strange thing in my home instance are the NPCs that hang around there. Maybe I’m really oblivious but there are some who I’ve never seen before. oO It might be that some did appear in my personal story but I think I had so few interaction with them that I never became really familiar with them. Some of them I know by name at least, but what are they doing in MY place? oO

They are stalking you and now they know where your home is. Be afraid, be very afraid. :P

Astral Projections.7320

It’s an amazing idea that has led to an amazingly sterile place. I have at least one of each race, gone into the home instance for each, and there is nothing there to hold your interest for longer than a few minutes. You can’t customize it in any way. Can’t add NPCs to it like you could to Guild Wars 1 guild halls. Can’t waypoint to it for free from anywhere in the world, which at least would give you SOME reason to go there. Can’t interact with it. All you can do is wander around and look at it. It’s heart is hollow and it has no “soul”.

Maybe if they made it into this games equivalent of the Hall of Monuments.
1) store (and show off) armor and weapon skins with mannequins there that you could reuse as you wants.
2) store amor and weapon stats there so you could switch builds/stats without carrying multiple sets in your inventory
3) have a place to show off your minipets
4) have a way to place statues to show off the titles you earned. If you have dungeon master for example, you get a statue commemorating this which you could place there.
5) store and show off your town clothing and costumes/armor/weapons you got from the gem store.
6) have an inscribeable place where you could tell about your character that you could update at will.

TL:DR
It needs to have something that personalizes the instance to you. Things you can take people to and they can look at or you can look at and remember, I did that.

Will open world PVP servers be considered?

in PvP

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Open world PvP promotes a different game atmosphere than what the Devs in this game want, and that’s why I think it’s unlikely that Guild Wars 2 will ever have it. The philosophy of this game is coordination and cooperation between players. Open world PvP fosters an us against them mentality. To put in open world PvP server, they would have to do a complete turn around of this game’s goals and what they promoted it as. Even WvW is designed to foster their goal of cooperation, as the opposing players there are nameless enemies who, except for having better skills, could be considered as NPCs.

Many people like the concept of open world PvP until it works against them. Then they come to the forums and post endless threads about their woes. Just read any other game forum, thread after thread complaining about ganking and griefing in open PvP.

As other people have said, there are numerous games out there with open PvP. If you need your ganking/griefing fix log into one of them. Why do you feel it’s necessary to turn this game into a clone of some other game? Let this one go its own path and let’s see where it takes us. I want to play Guild Wars 2 with cooperation ingame the game’s goal, not Guild Wars 2-clone of game X.

The alternate name for DoA was Dead on Arrival, since people tended to die there until they leaned what to do. :-) I remember being REALLY startled by that huge tentacle thing erupting out of the ground. My guild mates neglected to warn me about that thing and I was standing right beside it.

Engineer/Elementalist Weapon Swapping

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

This has been suggested a lot of times.

They can do just fine swapping weapons out of combat through their inventory. As it stands now, Elementalists have 20 weapon skills in combat, which any other profession has to exit combat and swap both of their weapon sets through their inventory to match.

Yes. OUT of combat swapping is being requested. How many weapon skills they have IN combat is irrelevant to the topic.
To swap now out of combat the ele/engie must
1) stop moving
2) open inventory
3) look for the weapon(s) wanted
4) put new weapon in place and put the old weapon in a spot where it won’t accidently get sold because its mixed in with weapons picked up as a drop.
5) close inventory

Not only does this take time, but it’s not particularly a good thing to be standing still in a PvP area with the inventory covering your screen while you dig around in it. An out of combat weapon swap is badly needed for the them.

Special keys (what would be the F1-F4) : c,v,b,n. I can hit them with my left thumb
Jump: spacebar
Mouse buttons 1-10 for skills
Dodge: mouse scroll wheel
Weapon switch: tab
Target: D
~ : for show enemy names. This is really useful when doing hearts as all the items you need to interact with for them appear on your screen in yellow letters.

I was having the most trouble finding a good button to use for dodge. The mouse scroll button is the best I’ve had so far. Makes dodging easy and fluid. I really recommend it.

There are simply too many veteran Karkas that are too close to other mobs. Since you are essentially soloing them it makes the area too difficult. It needs to be nerfed like Orr was. Remove some of the mobs so there is more freedom to get around or at least remove some of the veterans and clear the area around the remainder. Maybe remove some Karkas and add yellow mobs.

Also the Passion flower drop rates need to be buffed to encourage more people to go there for that. I never even try for those after I heard my guildies complaining about their bad luck getting them.

To increase the number of people who want the underwater legendary weapons, ANet should have the option to display it, like a regular weapon, while in a city. You should be able to hold it on your back or do the weapon skills just like the land legendary weapons. After all, most people get them in order to show them off.

I remember reading a blog about this some months back. Apparently the true yellow colors are a very narrow spectrum range. If you go one way or another, to one side there is the greens and on the other there is the reds. This means that only a few colors can be true yellows. Others have a greenish to reddish tint to them.

Looking at this chart shows you how narrow the range is.

Unfortunately it’s a fact of physics. Not much the Devs can do about it.

You can use that chart to select a dye with the closest color you want.

I made a personal guild and bought influence enough for 50 guild bank slots. You can’t put account bound/soul bound items in it but other stuff will go in there. It doesn’t seem to be cost effective to get more than the initial 50 slots however. If you need more than that, it’s cheaper to start up another guild.

As far as I know, you can make as many guilds as you want to expand your storage. Maybe not to infinity ^^ but certainly enough to have all the storage space you could ever want.

Hmmm really, this looks like a solution in search of a problem. At the end of a play period, I take my character to LA (for free, by going to the Mists ^^ ) and put all the money in the bank except for 10 silver, which is plenty for waypointing or repairs. It’s not like you are going to spend loads of money while playing unless you die a lot or use waypoints instead of running to places.

The high level characters that I have parked in areas I farm, when they get significant amounts of money, I check out my servers WvW borderlands. A lot of times there is a bank there and I use it to deposit my money. WvW also has a TP right by the spawn point. Even a low level alt can go there and access these. Then either go to character selection screen or log out. That character then return to the site it came from.

Turn in books for exp, karma and cash

Astral Projections.7320

In Guild Wars 1 there was a mechanic where you could do storyline events repeatedly. You could get books from a vender for free then each time you did a storyline event it filled a page on a book in your inventory. Each book had only one page for each event. if you did the event multiple times in a row you needed multiple books in your inventory to get credit for each one. When a book was filled up, it could be turned in for exp, cash and advancement towards a title. Partial books could be turned in for partial rewards.

Maybe if this game had a system somewhat like that. If you could go back to areas you have already completely explored and do DEs and fill in a book for each different one done. The book would need to have a listing of the available events. When you turn the book in, you get exp, money and karma that is scaled to your real level. For increased rewards, maybe an option to down level yourself more than a regular player.

I think this would encourage players to revisit old areas and redo events.

Astral Projections.7320

The P2P TP is fine and works well, however, it’s the gem store that’s a disaster. Allowing players to convert real money in to gold injects unlimited gold in to the economy causing terrible runaway inflation, especially on high-end items. There is a reason countries don’t simply print more money to resolve debt. The more you print, the less it’s worth.

What I would like to see is them disconnect the gem store from the TP by removing the ability to convert gems to gold. They could keep the gem store alive and well by offering more useful items and better skins to stimulate sales.

When people sell gems to get gold, the game isn’t manufacturing gold for them at that point. They are selling the gems to other players who are buying gems with ingame gold. Therefore, any inflation in this game is not caused by people selling gems for gold, it’s only transferring gold from one player to another.

I have stacks of cinnamon and walnuts and there are only a couple of recipes for them, the supply far exceeds demand. For chili peppers which I could really use, I am lucky to have a few of these (less than 15) and the prices in the trading post reflect this low supply, as they are typically about 5 to 6 silver each.

It would be great if they upped the number of herb nodes, put in dedicated herb nodes, such as nodes for chili peppers or parsley or allowed the master chef to sell some herbs for money.

gw2 vs rl

Another flaw with this game is that as your character levels up you get stronger for a while but then after level 40 or so you start getting weaker and weaker until around level 70 or 80 you are as weak as a low level character. This is an absurd game mechanic. Who thought of this as a fun way to play?

The game lowers the concurrence (the number of people logged on at one time) by randomly permadeathing characters. If you do manage to avoid random permadeath then at max level (around level 80 or so) your character is automatically permadeathed and you are sent to the endgame, whether you wanted to go or not.

And this other guild that specializes in heavy PvP went after me. Their guild name is The Police [GUNS]. So they stunned me and put my character in this little instanced room AND I CAN’T GET OUT!!! I press the F button by the door repeatedly and it won’t open. This is a major bug. There are scores of these little instanced rooms filled with characters and we are all stuck here because of this bug. What’s worse, the only way to exit the game is to delete your character. :/

Don’t try that RL game. It’s bad. If you die, not only is it permadeath, but all your guildies get your stuff and you can’t get any of it back. Plus I heard the endgame is one thing you have to reach thru permadeath. What’s worse, if you violate the TOS at any point while playing and don’t send a letter of apology to the Devs, they will make your endgame hell.

I posted earlier and said this was a bug, but now I’m not so sure.

I got hit again with this in wayfarers where I was leveling my necro. I went from about 4k exp per event to less than 100exp. I reported it as a bug and switched toons to a different area. But not sure now if this is a bug or they actually ding you for staying in one area and doing events there multiple times.

I’ve noticed it seems to happen if you stay in one area for more than an hour, farming the same events for exp or karma. I thought that the DR was only supposed to be for drops, not exp or karma.

Mini map markers in DE when not grouped

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Two nights ago I completed a DE alone and a new DE spawned that was meant for a group. I bugged out of there after rallying and figured there was no one around so I went on my way. A few minutes later I got ‘credit’ for participating in the DE. I’m as much a fan of free exp/karma/gold as the next guy but I would love to have actually participated. If I had known there were others around I would have stuck it out and tried to get to where they were in order to work together.

My suggestion: When a DE begins and the program decides who is present and counting toward completion, place them in the mini-map so that a little coordination can happen even if there is no grouping. If there are more than 10, which seems to be the threshold I keep seeing, then place nine of them in my map, or even the ten the program is counting at that moment.

This would be a great indicator to let us know when we are part of an event rather than just passing through. It seems a reasonable stop gap to the overcoming the lack of ‘raid’ groupings. And finally, it would help with events that have multiple objectives as we would be able to determine where to best place our efforts. If there are nine people on my mini map and two of them are guarding the north entrance while seven are concentrating on the south, I now know where I can best lend a hand. If there are 10 people crowded around the Priest of Grenth, maybe someone would realize they ought go take on the Shades. The examples are numerous.

That’s an interesting idea. Maybe if you had to click on the event notification on the UI to have this. If it had a spot on it that says, doing event-show others in area also doing event (who also clicked on the UI). If you didn’t click on it, you would do the event just as now but wouldn’t see other’s dots on the minimap and you also don’t show up on theirs. This would allow people to opt in or out as they prefer and people who are just passing thru wouldn’t show up.

Losing track of cursor + terrible tab targeting

It’s really annoying in a hectic fight when I want to do a ground based skill and can’t find my mouse cursor. I end up moving the cursor all over the screen till I can see it.

The target drops too easily, especially in water combat. It should have a hard lock either until the target is dead or until you actively select a different target. It should also prioritize a red target over a yellow one.

I’ve learned to be careful about looking at the target name before I attack a new target. I’ve aggro’d too many random nearby creatures, which then joined the fight.

Charr Armor

Astral Projections.7320

I do hope that here are more armor designed for Charr that are “skimpy”. I spent a fair amount of time getting the fur pattern that I liked and it’s completely covered up. Since this is not real life, not all of the armor needs to be realistic and suited for real life battles. It could be loin cloths, chest straps and armbands, having the same stats and showing off the fur.

The problem with the Charr armor is just part of an overall problem with armor in this game, that is, lack of variation. When they designed the armor in Guild Wars 2, it feels like each class had a template and the most of the armor was designed around that. Long skirts with the front open for light. Long dusters for medium, and typical heavy armor for heavy. There are a (very) few exceptions, but overall the armor within each class has the same silhouette.

How is Jewel inappropriate?

Astral Projections.7320

It’s because if they did allow it, someone would be sure to make up some sort of inflammatory name. For business reasons, it’s better for ANet to cut such names off at the character creation screen.

I’ve seen this argument often enough, since Anet isn’t the first company to do this by any stretch. I don’t quite buy it. If you just want to be offensive, you don’t need to be able to use a small selection of specific words. Sure, you can’t call yourself “death to insert ethnicity here” or something, but if you really aim to offend, do you really think you would stop there?

Arguably, nice players who just want to call their characters Jewel aren’t in a worse position either. Of course, they’re also not restricted to that limited set of words and can easily choose a different name.

But in the end, people who want to offend can still offend, and additionally we get these threads about once per week when someone finds some innocent name banned because of a short trigger word. So the filter makes this even more visible. Additionally, in many jurisdictions, this filter places the burden on Anet when someone actually does get through with an offending name, because the filter counts as moderation. Because they do moderate, they’re expected to moderate everything.

It is more likely to be in place for legal reasons, more then effectiveness. Someone can still make an offensive name involving hate speech, but if the company sets a filter in place so those people are forced to go around it, lawyers have less of a legal way to blame ANet.

Jewel has the word Jew imbedded in the name. They don’t want people making racist names so they forbid that combination of letters in any name.
The filter is pretty strict. For example, someone wanted to make a Norn with the last name Owlsdottir. They couldn’t because Owlsdottir has LSD in the middle of the name and the filter saw that.

Could try the name of an actual jewel, Kaylee Sapphire, for example. Or Kaylee Fireopal (if an elementalist)

Well I’m 15 I don’t have bank account and I’m still in school

I assume then your parents bought the game for you. And I also assume they don’t want to pay for the character slots. You still have the pay for what you want. It’s one of those evil little things that comes with growing up. Then your options still are-

1) farm for ingame money and buy gems

2) farm for real life money. Either to pay your parents back for buying gems for you or to place the money in a money card (a prepaid credit card that can only be used up to the amount of money that has been places in it) which you use to buy gems.

3) do without.
